I went here for a late Saturday lunch at 2pm today with my family.  The place wasn't busy, which was to be expected.  There were maybe 3 tables occupied.

Right away, we were given homemade chips and 3 types of salsa: a smooth creamy orange sauce with a kick, salsa fresca, and a smooth creamy avocado sauce with a little punch of its own.  My favorite salsa was the avocado, but all of them were pretty tasty.

I ordered 3 tacos with just onions and cilantro: 2 carne asada and 1 chile relleno.  Everyone else ordered carne asada tacos as well, but with different toppings.  You can have just onions and cilantro, or you can go all out and add lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and cheese.  I prefer simplicity when it comes to my tacos.

After we ordered, they brought out cups of chicken noodle soup with limes on the side.  Delicious!  I added a squeeze of lime to mine, but it wasn't really necessary.  The soup was good all on its own.

Now, for the tacos... The chile relleno taco was not very flavorful.  It was improved by a squeeze of lime and some salsa, but I probably won't order it again.  The carne asada tacos were good, but not great.  The meat was cut a bit on the thinner side, and the meat was cooked a bit more than I'd like.  They were pretty tasty again with a squeeze of lime and some salsa.

El Gallo Bravo, you were good, but my heart still belongs to La Pasadita.

I had the worst experience I have EVER had at a restaurant here.  It was my Birthday, and after a late night some of my friends and I decided to stop here for a late dinner.  I probably took 2 bites out of my meal when I accidentally knocked my entire glass of water onto my plate.  MOST restaurants would replace your meal no questions asked.  Not here... they wanted me to pay for the meal I spilled my water in AND the new plate of food!  They actually fought me on this for quite some time too.  Who does this?? WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. The food wasn't even that great.  I will never return to this restaurant again.

Excellent! Live in the neighborhood & used to go to Pasadita, but they were inconsistent. Went in early Saturday  night, ordered a steak burrito, 2 steak tacos & chicken tostadas---all was great.  The steak was not over cooked- perfect. The toppings were fresh. the chicken in the tostada was pure meat--no weird gristle.  This is our new regular taco joint!

I come here more often than I care to admit because it is such an excellent place for an inexpensive, fast, and fulfilling meal. I usually get takeout because I live in the neighborhood, but it is actually a nice, clean, cheerful place to dine in too. It is almost never empty, and the crowd actually seems to pick up after midnight on the weekends.

I am obsessed with their chips and salsa - both the green and orange salsas are incredibly spicy, but I often crave it and can't stop eating it once it's in front of me. You get this complimentary when you eat in, and they usually also give me some to much on while I wait for my carry out order. I also usually order this to go - just beware that because it isn't on the menu, the price they charge sometime varies depending on who is ringing you up. They aren't trying to pull one over on you - I just don't think anyone knows for sure how much they are suppose to charge for it.

Ok - enough about chips and salsa (because I'm getting hungry now). I also like their refried beans and steak tostada, while my husband prefers thier chicken tacos. I'm not a big fan of their rice, largely because I don't like peas (there are enough peas in the rice that it is difficult to pick them all out). They also give you grilled onions and peppers with your meal, but we never eat these. Our out of town friends love this place - much more authentic and flavorful than what they can get in Indiana.

I've been there twice, like a month ago was fantastic, tbut the second time (sunday the 8th- Ocotober) was a little bad, I don't blame them because  a waiter and a cook dind't show up,  and they were really busy.
It took 30 minutes to get our food, it was exquiste tough, the waiter was friendly and she apoligized 3 o 4 times for getting our food late.
I really like this place , I  will give it  another chance, who knows, maybe this coming sunday ,:).

I've been here many times at different hours of the day and they consistently make good food.  They have large portions for their entrees so I suggest sharing with a friend (or two).

Thanks Mark G. for suggesting this place.

As always, get the special. The "Fortachon" is steak, pork, ham, bacon, sausage, cheese, avocado, and sometimes onions with a side of refried beans and rice.

This meat-a-lanche is well prepared and filling enough for two, plus leftovers.

The green sauce has a nice kick (although it's thick in a creepy way).

The orange sauce seems like someone mixed the green sauce with Roller Skating Rink Nacho Cheese.

Otherwise a spartan Taqueria with strip-slot machines. Terrible service, but really, who cares?

I love the tacos from El Gallo Bravo. I would always go to the spot off of Montrose, The best part is that they are open 24 hours. Except one time when I went late night on Christmas. This place is good to eat tacos at any time, but  these really hit the spot when you are drunk going home real late night. The red sauce is amazing. I was excited when I saw this spot open off of Lawrence. Get the Tacos de Bistec with jalapenos and grilled onions use the red sauce and prepare for your nose to run wild.

I have been in desperate search for a good place to grab some Mexican food around the neighborhood and-FINALLY I have found it! I am picky with my meat n how its cooked and they nailed it on the head the first time around...I have gone on more than one occasion and they have not disappointed! The waitstaff is courteous and the prices decent. The Salsa options that comes with the chips definitely have a lil spice n I like it. Also, its 24 hours and I recommend going there at any hour. You don't have to be intoxicated to enjoy the food!

This place was good for some non fast food Mexican. I had the chicken burrito and it was pretty big! They gill it nicely, so it has a nice crunch. I went with my other, and we ended up spending 17 bucks. Not sure really what happened, maybe it was those two soda's that we grabbed. I would go again.

The carne asada here is the standard griddle-cooked stuff, so nothing special. (I have a strong preference for broiled carne asada, which unfortunately you'll find in maybe 10% of the taquerias around here.) But their al pastor is the genuine stuff, cut off a shwarma-style spit and with just the right dose of pineapple slivers. I couldn't decide between 3 stars or 4, then I remembered their awesome salsas (you get three styles). The creamy green salsa is my fave.

As is a common complaint of mine, I wish they'd take credit card. They'd get a lot more of my business if they did, especially since its 24/7 status makes it a would-be favorite for this insomniac.

food is a bit greasy, but it's a great option for late night munchies.  friendly service.  their cheddar-based salsa is to die for.

Great place for late night. Especially since I live so close to the restaurant, haha.

The steak and chicken tacos are great, had it once with just cilantro and onions, and another time with everything else. Both were great.

Really good place here for take out food. Good seasonings on the meat and a unique, tangy sauce is offered here. The staff is friendly. Its the only place I have ordered take out food and I was given free chips and sauce while I wait for the order to be cooked. Occasionally they throw in extras as well.

My friend and I went here after a late night concert.  We were both starving and I needed to find a place open late and near my home.  Fortunately, this El Gallo Bravo is open 24 hours.  YES!!!

I learned my lesson from my previous visits and ordered tacos without all the "extras" (sour cream, cheese, lettuce, and tomato).  No need for that.  I had 2 chile relleno tacos and 1 ribeye taco, with cilantro and onions ONLY.  Delicious.  I tried some of my friend's carne asada taco, as well.  The carne asada was ok, not the best but it was fine with a squeeze of lime and a bit of salsa.

Again, this place is a gem for me because it's so close to my home and open late.  If you happen to be in the neighborhood at some odd hour (I'm not going to ask why...*cough*Admiral Theatre*cough*), check this place out.
