This place was great!
Awesome, unique "day of the dead" inspired mexican art covered the walls. Each table had a custom painting on it. And the they were playing a mix of Moby, Air, and Radiohead. + BYOB.
The food was extremely vegetarian friendly, but also catered to the carnies. And carnivores. Also, they offered black beans on their tacos. Thats one thing I cannot wrap my head around... why more places do not offer black beans. Anyway... $10 gives you 3 tacos and a side. I got sweet potato fries, cuz I'm a fucking fat ass this week. But they had honey and cinnamon drizzled on top and were quite delicious.
I highly recommend!
Fresh, decent ingredients and the sauces for each entree were bold. Steak nachos had a skimpy amount of steak. Taco entree was 3 tacos and came with a choice of side. The bean dip was great, had a crown of chips to use. We paid for extra guacamole and were unsure if we received it or not. Overall, portions were kind of tiny. While dining, I got a "Big Star Taco" vibe from their tacos, but the overall experience wasn't par with the original just yet.
I did not try a burrito, but when I do, Â that burrito will be the deciding factor if I choose Estrella over another late-night mexican joint for delivery from now on.
I went to Estrella Negra for a feast. Â Chips and salsa, then some really delicious black bean and goat cheese tostadas, and finally, chicken tacos with a side of sweet potato fries (my husband had a chicken burrito and loved it). Â The way everything came out, it was like a laid back four-course meal. Â Very tasty, Â high quality food, and such a deal, all five in our party was impressed and satisfied. Â (Our share of the bill was only about $30). Â The staff was really friendly and service was very good.
