Maybe I'm easy to please, but ate here last night and really enjoyed my meal and the restaurant itself. Â Split of pitcher of Margs with my boyfriend (special on Wed - $18 a pitcher) and had chicken quesadillas and he had chicken/pork enchiladas. Â Both of us enjoyed our food and had a good time. Â
Large menu with lots of option, all which sounded tasty.
Chips and Salsa is a little spicy for my taste, but he liked it!
After passing for years, I decided to check out the food. Â Nothing extraordinary, just good cocktails, food and a live band every Friday night I have visited. Â I now make it a monthly stop and will continue to do so. Â If you're looking for Mexican in Lincoln Park, then check this place out.
Review Source:Very disappointing. Â Chips are cheap store bought. Â Guacamole tasted like the fake stuff that comes from a vacuum sealed package. Â Tacos sucked. Â My date said the sauce on the enchiladas tasted like cocktail sauce. Â Margaritas save this place from a 1 star rating. Â With all the great Mexican places in Chicago, you can afford to skip this one.
Review Source:My boyfriend and I came here before we headed over to Tonic Room for a show on a Thursday night. Now keep in mind, my boyfriend is Mexican, so the only mexican food he will eat is from his mother. It is very hard to get him to come to mexican restaurants. So I was shocked when he said he loved it! Of course the menu they have was unlike any other place we've been to.
It wasn't crowded, of course this was a Thursday night around 630ish, so it may not have been prime time. But the decor is nice, and our waitstaff was great...from the host who pulled my chair back to seat me like a gentleman, to our waiter who always made sure our drinks were filled and our dinner was delicious.
I tried Frijoles Ranceros for the first time and it was delicious!!
Go for the Entrees or the Combination Platters for a great trip through mexican cuisine. You can always get the other stuff (tacos, burritios, tostadas, etc) from the smaller places.
I've only been here once and when I was, I used my DePaul id to get a 15% off discount (yay!). The group I was with really liked it, there was the typical Mexican fare at pretty reasonable prices. The night we were here there was live music too which is always a good thing. I think i got a burrito thing and remember the portion was so big it had to be taken home for a future meal. I moved to a new area and saw today that these guys have a location in Uptown.
Review Source:I never really write reviews, much less bad ones... But the fact that I actually bothered to review this place should speak for just how gross the food is.
I know Lincoln Park isn't exactly known for Mexican food, but I was craving it so decided to stop in.
Big mistake. The food is just really gross, that's really all there is to say. It tasted a lot like it had been frozen at some point and maybe just reheated. Everything was soooo bland! The "queso" dip was this light green water that tasted like pea soup. I actually asked our server if she had brought us queso like we had requested because I thought she had gotten confused and brought out something else- but no, that was their "queso" dip.
It was just baddddd. Skip this place.
Mexican egg rolls, I freaking love them. The only reason I give it 3 stars is because it seems really difficult to get the check when I'm done, I always seem to end up with about 15 minutes (not like 'I'll be there in fifteen minutes' more like 'Launch Time: 15 minutes') before we finally get the bill. But the waiters are always very nice and I've never had a bad food experience.
Review Source:I didn't know whether to laugh or cry after eating here. Being a supporter of small business I have a hard time with negative reviews, but this place really needs help. The saddest part is my date suggested I just copy and paste Judi P's review, it was that similar.
The Good: I had the Fiesta Steak Torta and it was pretty good. Â Not anything I would crave again, but nothing to complain about either. Â
The Bad: Stale store bought chips and salsa. (Really guys?) Â A mojito special. Â (Identity crisis here? Â Isn't that a Cuban drink?) Â Limited chicken breast options. (Mainly pulled chicken meat. ????)
The Ugly: Sorry dude but I have to call you out...Ryan R's service was beyond horrible. Â I'm usually very tolerant with service but even the most understanding person would have trouble here. Â Since we were one of the only three tables you would think he had time to make sure our chips were refilled, or that when he brought the chips and noticed there was no salsa he would refill that. Â Or perhaps offer to move our plates, drinks, etc inside when it started raining on us? Â Nope. Â The kicker was after getting the check we waited 23 minutes for him to come back and run the card. Â I tried every which way to flag him down but his conversation with the bartender must have been pretty entertaining. Â
Sorry Fiesta Mexicana, you need some serious improvements before I go back.
I was pleasantly surprised with my meal. Fish tacos sounded so good but it seems like every place I've had them outside of southern California fails miserably at them. This place was probably the best non-socal fish tacos I've had. The batter was nice and crunchy, the slaw was quite wonderful, the fish was not too greasy. Instead of being made with cabbage the slaw was made with bell peppers that made their way through a mandolin. Awesome idea. I am definitely going to steal it. The salsa was badass too. Instead of catering to those lame people that can't handle heat they leave quite a bit in there. I loved it even though I didn't eat much since I wanted room for drinks later.
My mojito though was probably my favorite. Usually bartenders smash the living hell out of the mint so that when you drink them you suddenly get smacked in the teeth with bits o mint. It's gross. Here they don't beat the crap out of them. You still taste mint but your teeth are safe from a mint beating. Lovely.
One complaint though: the singer. the music was odd. it was all elvis and 60's music....in a Mexican restaurant. It was kind of distracting to the atmosphere instead of enhancing. But all in all I would come back if I was in the area. I know there are better places in Chicago but honestly I had really low expectations for this place but I cannot complain about anything I put into my mouth while here.
This place is right around the corner from my apartment and it took me a whole year to try it out! I actually added takeout from this place (delivery, I was really lazy and didn't feel like putting on real person clothes in order to leave my apartment). It was a Friday and my order arrived within half an hour. The enchiladas were very good, a little soggy though since they mixed with the beans and salsa that came with it during the delivery. They put both types of sauces in the container too, major points. The delivery man also was very charming and joked about how I couldn't walk a half a block to pick up the order (it was winter and raining/sleeting after all). I know lots of my friends love this place as well and my sorority has even had events here in the past. Is it legit Mexican? Probably not, but I like it all the same.
Review Source:So, I have to hand it to him. Owner Ricardo reached out to me immediately following my initial review and genuinely wanted to amend the bad taste left in my mouth (pun intended.. I felt like making a bad joke).
Anyway, I definitely respect him for caring enough about his business to make sure customers are happy, so we set up a second attempt!
I got the Mambo Italiano, I mean, Mehikano, which includes a pork burrito, chicken flauta, and ground beef enchilada, but instead of the beef, I got a second porker. I'm a pork and chicken gal. As if that's not enough, the Mambo Combo comes with refried beans and Spanish rice to boot.
When my order came, I thought they made a mistake. The bag was as tall as I am and contained enough food for 10 people. Unpacking it was like Christmas morning.. there was my Mambo Mambo, a bag of freshly-made tortilla chips, cheese enchilada with salsa on top (delicious!), jalapeños... etc.
It was like a 50-member mariachi band had arrived to serenade me into a food coma.
Everything was fantastic; I took sample bites out of it all and decided the pork burrito would become dinner, and I'd save the rest. I chose the burrito because, after one baby bite, I got that "OH MY GOD" feeling where your tastebuds go into overdrive trying to savour every molecule. I've never liked burritos in the past. They were always too beany and blah, but this one... The pork!! Dios mio! The pork was almost cinnamony.. the taste lingered.. Just phenomenal! I'm still coming back down to Earth.
Now, back to Ricardo for a second. I am not a world renown food critic whose opinion Fiesta's livelihood rests on, nor am I a local celebrity or wealthy socialite. I'm a customer who had a bad experience, and Ricardo went out of his way and then some to fix it. When he first reached out to me, I honestly thought they would just offer to send me the same tacos again. As you see, that's not even close. He clearly understands the value of customer service.
I would without a doubt order from Fiesta Mexicana and love to dine in one of their actual restaurants.
Talk about redemption!!
The service was so slow it was unreal. The restaurant was not even busy.
Also the food was not that good and the sauce they used was more like tomato sauce than salsa. The chips they brought to us were stale and the salsa was just okay. The prices were not worth what I paid for. It was upsetting because I heard the restaurant was good, but it ended up being so bad I wished I had just gone across the street to Allendes and bought a $5 burrito.
I visited Fiesta Mexicana last Saturday night around 8:30, and what a time to go! The dining room was bustling, and there was a live Spanish guitarist and singer serenading the room. Despite the crowd, my date and I were seated and served promptly.
I ordered a skinny margarita, which was good, but next time I'll opt for the House version, as my date had. It was so much better. I should know better than try to save a few calories! I ordered tilapia fajitas with grilled vegetables, which were delicious. And the portion provided a second meal for the next day -- all for $14 I believe. My date tried one of the specials -- Mexican Jambala -- which despite the less-than-glamourous name, was an awesome mix of various seafood, spicy chorizo in a creamy adobo sauce served over rice. He also had a second meal in his hands when we left.
We were in and out in less than an hour; the food was great and the price was on-par with most upper-scale Mexican restaurants (Uncle Julios, etc.). Plus, our waitress brought us two shots of Kahlua and Cream on the house for dessert. Great time and great meal for those hungry for sit-down Mexican in Lincoln Park.
1.5 stars
I came here because we had a $25 http://Restaurant.com gift certificate and a co-worker recommended this place. Although there was a hostess we had to sit ourselves, which is fine. Then we waited 20+ minutes for menus that once our neighbors were done ordering we asked if we could have their menus. Once we finally got our order in, our food took 40 minutes (which we all know Mexican food does not take that long). Once the food was finally delivered it was cold, not lukewarm but COLD like the food was sitting in the window for all of those 40 minutes. Due to the fact that when you use a http://Restaurant.com gift certificate you have to leave a tip, I was this close to not using it just so I could not tip. Horrible service, blah food, not coming back.
CAUTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! KEEP YOUR RECEIPT!
After a nice experience at the restaurant and checked my receipt against my credit card statement and there was $1 added to my bill which already had, I calculated, about 19+% tip included, plus we left some cash on the table!
The server was #118 - Maritza.
I called restaurant and manager on duty apologized and offered a refund , but this is not about a few bucks but about being honest and NOT taking your customers for tools.
As you can tell this is a pet peeve of mine, being overcharged a few bucks over my signed bill. And this unfortunately is not the first time.
So you've been forewarned.
I haven't been to Fiesta Mexicana in at least two years and after going this past Sunday, I remember why. Â
Since I was last at this restaurant the interior has undergone a massive face-lift. Â The restaurant is now modern and chic and I will add also very cozy. Â There is a full bar area now with two big flat screen televisions so one could very easily just come to fiesta mexicana to watch a game or a show on telemundo.
I ordered the fiesta combination which came with a beef taco, chicken enchilada, pork tamale and bean tostada; along with rice and beans and guacamole. Â My date ordered the chicken taco platter hard shell which also came with rice and beans. Â Needless to say we were not impressed with our food at all. Â Well she was not impressed with her food at all, the chicken enchilada and pork tamale on my plate were delicious the beef taco and bean tostada not so much. Â All three of my dates tacos fell apart just as my beef taco did; we might as well had ordered a taco salad. Â The guacamole and chips and salsa was good though.
For what we ordered along with two sodas our bill was $46 which I believe is too high for a mexican food dinner especially while not ordering any drinks. Â They need to improve the food to the Allende standards which is directly across the street!
Came back to Fiesta Mexi on a warm Friday for a pitcher o ritas and some food.
The pitcher is the best deal in the city (besides Mayan Palace on Tues and Thurs) and the 3 quesadilla platter is fantastic! Super flavorful, comes with 3 quesadillas with your choice of filling with beans and rice for under $8. The ground beef was seasoned well, salty and a bit spicy, and the chicken was of the pulled variety.
So amazing I had to update.
Giving Fiesta Mexicana three stars mainly because of their service. Â We felt like rock stars when we were there. Â I can't say it is because we arrived early and were one of only four other tables because after a while the place was PACKED and we still received the same amount of attention. Â As for the food, well, it was ok. Â We happened to have a certificate for $25 from http://Restaurant.com so it took the sting out of what the price would have been, however, if we had paid full price, I don't know if I would have been very pleased. Â
I ordered the potato flautas and was very unhappy when the potatoes were NOT seasoned at all. Â A little salt and pepper would have been nice. Â I only ate one of the three, yes on three flautas on a dinner portion. Â I ended up having rice and beans and some guacamole for dinner. Â
My boyfriend had the tricolored cheese enchiladas. Â He said they were good, they looked pretty, but again, the portions seem so small for what is charged. Â
We had a guacamole as an appetizer. Â I guess it was pretty typical portion, we had to ask for more chips... Â that complimentary salsa was pretty good. Â It was not a chunky salsa, more on the watery side - but I liked it.
For dessert, we shared a sponge cake type desert - looked kind of like a jelly roll. Â It was two slices with a scoop of ice cream. Â Â It was nothing to write home about. Â Especially for 5.99, but we wanted something to go with the cinnamon spiked coffee and that was the only "cake" that was recommended. Â It wasn't awful, but it wasn't mind-blowing either.
Like I said, what stood out were the friendly wait staff - all very friendly and attentive. Â They made the experience a lot of fun!
This place was AWESOME before the fire a few years ago. Now, to be frank, it sucks.
The food is mediocre and incredibly overpriced. Last time I was there the service was pretty poor, but I think they were still working out some of the kinks since it had just re-opened.
If you are craving good Mexican food, visit Fiesta Mexicana's cousin up North with the same name. The food, atmosphere and service are all exponentially better.
Don't waste your time and money here.
Convenient. Â Fast. Â Attentive. Â Cheap. Â Authentic. Â Spacious. Â Delicious.
How many adjectives are necessary before I can convince you to stop by? Â On occasion, Fiesta serves as a DePaul hangout, but don't let that deter you from enjoying its dining facilities and bar for what they are: an excellent place to grab good Mexican food and drink and remain in Lincoln Park.
True enough, many authentic Mexican joints exist near Pilsen, but dont write Fiesta off until you've experienced some live music or karaoke night. Â I don't give out four stars lightly, so, can you spare an evening?
I didn't enjoy my food.
No clever way of saying that at the moment so i'll just be frank. The meat in the chicken tacos was salty and I swear it looked as though they just opened a bucket of pulled chicken and threw some on my "raw" tortillas.
Which brings me to my next gripe. Why don't they heat the tortillas or throw them on the griddle for a few seconds on each side? Â Every other good Mexican place i've gone to has done this.
In addition to the tortillas, chunks of tomato were thrown on top, no onions, no cilantro and a sprinkle of sad looking cheese. The side of guacamole cost close to $4 and I was shocked when he brought it out and it was the size of one of those tiny cups they give you for dipping.
The margarita was good (and on special for $5 on Monday nights) but i'm not sure it was good enough for me to make a return trip.
I felt rude for stuffing my face at Hot Doug's a few hours before coming here for a planned dinner, but looking back I think I lucked out.
This place was under renovation forever; as in it was maybe a full two years of boarded windows and seemingly no progress. I assumed it would never re-open, but lo and behold it did. It seemed like the perfect destination since we were catching a show at Lincoln Hall and they offered a http://restaurant.com coupon - wrong. I will say the interior is very nice, but it pretty much ends there.
Not being hungry I struggled to find something to order to meet our check minimum. I ended up going with the ceviche appetizer, which was fine, but not worth $13 IMO. The tacos my dining partner ordered looked sad. Tacos are $2 and change, but the side cup of guac, like you'd get a Chipotle - maybe smaller, was nearly $4, what what? A side of sour cream is $2! Much of the menu seemed pricey for Mexican, especially mediocre Mexican.
Service was ok. There was some coupon confusion, which got worked out; I just felt like what we were initially told was misleading.
I don't see myself returning here, I'll take my fiesta to another place in the vicinity.
What a disappointment.
I used to come here all the time when I was in undergrad at DePaul, and I miss the old place, with their huge menu and cozy feel.
The new place is a joke. Their menu is near obsolete, offering only a handful of way-overpriced menu items. ($30 for a pitcher of margarita, $10 for appetizers, $20+ for entrees)
Menu prices have gone up, but the quality of service and food clearly has not. Yes, the new plates are pretty, but the food portions are served in small dollops, and not even presented very well (looked like a school lunch tray where the lunch ladies just dump food on plates.)
THEN, there's the horrible service. One of my friends ordered a chicken quesadilla and found a bone in the dish. We alerted the waiter who told us, "yea, a couple other people are finding bones in their dishes too..." uhhh... excuse me? Â We asked to see the manager, so we could let him know what had happened, and to prevent anyone else from potentially choking on a bone.
We waited. and waited. and waited. The waiter came over and told us "Yea, I told him, but he's laughing in my face..." are you kidding me? The manager of this place was apparently too busy running around jovially passing out sombreros to big-chested, barely clothed, UNDERAGE girls to come to one of the rare LEGAL patrons of the restaurant to mutter a simple apology.
Peace out, Fiesta, you've lost customers for life.. I'm sure you won't miss us much, though, with the constant stream of obnoxious underage kids streaming through.
wow.
First, I have to say, I am surprised I haven't written a review of Fiesta yet. Â I was probably at this restaurant more nights than I can remember (and for good reason) from '98 to '02. Â Liberal carding indeed! Â Of course it helped to have a friend along who spoke fluent Spanish, I'm sure.
Second, this would normally be a 3 star review for me, but Fiesta gets a 4th star for the fond memories it holds and the staff who used to recognize us and wink knowingly (since one or maybe more nights--who remembers these things?--ended with us dancing with the staff to the mariachi band). Â
Having been here so many times, I definitely have my favorites on the menu and rarely stray. Â Enchiladas verdes is my favorite, followed by the steak fajitas. Â Recently had chile rellenos with steak--the chile rellenos was good, but the steak and refried beans were just too salty. Â Don't think I'll be trying that again. Â Salsa is always good--hot, but not too hot.
Margaritas are delicious! Â Just strong enough to get a decent buzz..
Birthday parties here can be fun--the staff will crown you with a sombrero and you'll get a whip cream-topped shot of tequila--what a way to celebrate!
I'll be going back again for Team Trivia--it's a great setup, plenty of seating and a big screen to watch the game while you try to figure out how many tablespoons are in a cup (its 16, by the way). Â The waitstaff will increase as numbers do (I don't think they have been prepared in past weeks for the turnout), and Amy does a great job running this event!
The Fiesta Mexicana beatdown continues. Â
Given the feedback from my table companions, I'm confident it's a good thing I ate before my arrival. Â So, so glad I had pizza beforehand. Â In light of this, I'm going to write an even better review of Cafe Luigi than I would have otherwise. Â But I digress...
I used to live across the street from "Fiesta Mexicana" (I have to put the name in quotes--it just doesn't seem an accurate description as this place appears to have long since lost its cheer and is now a tchotchke-laden relic of an unfulfilled promise) Â but only stopped in once the whole year I lived there so I didn't recall it being particularly lousy or anything. Â At least not to the degree that it was last night.
The servers were like middle-aged Alices in Wonderland, seemingly disappearing into some foxhole for long durations, only to return dazed and confused with either the wrong quantity or wrong brand of drinks. Â Order a Negro Modelo, then, 30 minutes later you are brought two. Â Order a Negro Modelo, and 15 minutes later you are brought a Miller Lite. Â Wow. Â It's like magic. Â Where did he learn to do that? Â Is it the server who is eating funny mushrooms or is it me?
So, I didn't try the food but yeah it looked as inspiring as a rainy Sunday, and was apparently just as exciting in flavor. Â C'mon, F.M., this food is supposed to be vibrant, exciting, fiery, you know, fiesta and all that.
And after all of this, Mr. Alice in Cloudland conveniently includes a tip for himself in the bill (pre-emptive strike, no?), then has the cojones to make a stink about some nickel and dime discrepancy between what a gift certificate covers and what it doesn't? Â Dios Mio.
So, I've been here twice for the Team Trivia event the stars are basically for hosting the trivia event.
The first time I went, everything was okay, but not great. I was an easy table because it was just me and the boyfriend....simple...not really much that could be messed up. I wasn't that excited about the food, but it's just bland Mexican food. Also, we won the trivia game so that made everything seem more fun. I got a $30 gift certificate to use another time with certain restrictions.
Tonight I went back and mediocre took a downwards turn. We were a bigger group (7 people), but service was decidedly spotty. Drinks didn't come, when they came they were the wrong drinks. No additional menus were provided, no additional place mats came. Communication with our waiter was a definite problem. The food remained very mediocre.
The big kicker came after we had already left. I chipped in the entire gift certificate to cover all of the food we'd ordered and the non-alcoholic drinks (a diet coke and an undrinkable iced tea) and then we paid cash for all of the drinks which was a pretty considerable sum. They automatically tacked on the gratuity (fine, we had a big group).
Anyway, I was outside, unlocking my bike and talking to some fellow yelpers when our waiter comes out and tells us that we underpaid by $3.65....for the two non alcoholic drinks. I guess I had misunderstood the terms of the gift cert., but come on...after all the mistakes that were made in service they couldn't cut us a little bit of slack?
Very disappointing. I'll have to get my trivia fix elsewhere.
I am going to be one of those downers. I'm sorry. I think the restaurant deserves 1 star - for hosting the Trivia Yelp event.
Husband and I met fellow yelpers for Trivia event. We both ordered dinners and drinks. I ordered a chicken taco salad which was absolutely tasteless. Guacamole tasted a little garlicky, the chicken was inedible. For $8 (or however much), I would rather eat at Denny's. The chips tasted very generic and salsa was a little sour and a lot spicy.
Miller Light is $3.75 - and the diet coke was flat. The service was very slow, probably because they were understaffed for the Yelp event.
Our server forgot to bring beer, when he finally did, he brought the wrong kind. Fine. It took a good 20-30 minutes to order our food. Another 20 (at least) to get our food.
Food was horrible. Next time i come back to the Trivia event, I will make sure to eat beforehand.
Good God I sincerely detest giving one star reviews. Â I have no choice but to do this. Â I have to say that the team trivia was a lot of fun and the place has a very nice interior but that is where the positives end. I should say that this is where they ended last night at least
I only ordered three beef tacos. Â I wanted to keep it simple. I have a pretty strong stomach when it comes to greasy food. Â I think I met my match with these tacos. Â This was some greasy ass beef and it didn't taste quite right either. Â I couldn't put a finger on what was wrong.
The service was not even close to being adequate. Â It took a while to get drinks, get our order taken, get a second round of drinks,etc... Â It seemed as if a couple of waiters were working on us as I was not really sure which waiter was ours.
Each of the above issues in and of themself are forgivable. Â Unfortunately they all seemed to happen all on the same visit. Â I am not the kind of person to just write a place off. Â Everyone is entitled to a bad night. Â I am not going to write this place off as I will give them another shot.
I haven't been here in several years, but I can attest to the fact that their carding policy was/is quite liberal. Â This is where we would take our friends who didn't have fake IDs.
The drinks were good, the service was good and the food wasn't too bad. Â Prices for food were a bit high though. Â I've never been there when it was really busy, but there have always been a lot of college students there. Â It's a fun place to go with a bunch of friends, and the waitstaff is friendly.
Yes, the food is just okay. Â Yes, the service is usually great, but can have a bad (awful) night. Â But some places get extra stars for what they've meant to you over time:
When we were undergrads, Fiesta was our go-to place for drunken revelry, since their carding policy was, how you say, non-existent.
Then, after we graduated, Fiesta was the place for Margarita Sundays, where we would get rocked to start the work week right.
Now that we're kind of old, Fiesta is where we go for Trivia Wednesdays, where we drink margaritas and feel superior to the undergrads because of our 80s movie knowledge.
I can't wait to find out what our next reason to go will be...
Fiesta Mexicana does the job when I'm looking to satisfy my craving of Mexican food. Â Their sangria's are delicious but this past time they put jarred cherries in the drink instead of the traditional chopped fruit. Â This place has huge servings of everything so I advise going there hungry or decide on splitting a dish.
This time around I had a sope with grounded beef and potato. Â Never in my life have I tried this combination and it was actually really good.
If your ever in the ever-so popular De Paul area, check this place out.
I wanted to love this place since the service was great. Â
The Taco Loco Special was good. Â It's just a Taco Salad with guac on top, but the shell was top notch. Â The beef had diced potatoes mixed in. Â Nice touch.
We also had soft and crispy tacos. Â Pretty standard other than the diced potatoes again in the meat.
The refried beans tasted healthier since he mentioned they were vegetarian.
My only two big complaints that earn it two stars:
1) Prices are out of this world for this type place. I'd rather just go to Uncle Julio's.
2) My wife and I prayed to the porcelain king at 5am, 9am, and 11am.
UPDATE: Â We've been here 3 times since and it's been excellent! Â We took advantage of the tapas special on Monday and the service is still stellar.
To the guy playing the guitar on the sign: I dig.
Other than that, this place doesn't really excite me. Â The food is forgettable - you may as well shimmy across the street and get a burrito from Allende. Â
The one plus - the drinks (which for me is a tasty pitcher of original Margaritas on the rocks). Â These 'ritas are STRONG. Â I actually ate here on St. Patrick's Day (which is a good call - it was pretty empty) and I walked out looking just as into the "Irish Celebration" as all those fools in the LP.
I like this place.
You get a lot of food for your money - I usually get at least one more meal out of what I get here. I am a big fan of free chips and salsa so maybe that clouds my judgement.
If you want to low-key place to hang out and enjoy a taco or two, this is a great place to do it.
We've been here a couple times now, and both my boyfriend and I really enjoy the food. Â I think it might have something to do with the chicken that is in the tacos, burritos, chimis, etc. Â It just has so much good flavor, and it never feels fatty or low quality. Â So even though I don't love the guacamole, I'll keep eating here, because the chicken can't be beat. Â I also really like the salsa, though last night it was on fire, it was soooo spicy. Â
There was live music last night as well, and it was pleasant and not so loud that you couldn't communicate, which definitely heightened the experience. Â And it's really not THAT expensive.
Wow, Fiesta Mexicana. Â I have to say, I love Mexican food, and rarely turn it down in any form. Â I'll even eat Taco Bell. Â But not Fiesta Mexicana. Â And here's why!
1) They're stupidly overpriced. Â Once I ordered nachos that cost something like 7 dollars, and what I got was 4 chips with strategically placed beans and cheese. Â Buzzers.
2) The food isn't tastey. Â The burritos are full of potatoes for filler, and my friend recently got food poisoning from their tacos.
3) The service is also attrocious. It's a long story on my part as to why the service is bad, and if you want to send me a note, I'll gladly fill you in, but I'll tell ya what, the customer is most certainly not always right.
