Had a business lunch here yesterday and it was not a good experience. Slow moronic server said that "some people just blend in" as an excuse for letting me sit for 10 minutes without service. The food was awful. The grilled chicken on my salad was cold, dry and tough - no doubt cooked days ago. Let's cut to the chase, nice beer stench place to watch a ball game and drink a beer, but good food and service is not a specialty.
Review Source:Good food, nice servers, and a good place to watch sports. However their music is terrible. It's loud and top 40 pop crap. We asked if they could change the music but they couldn't. They're corporately owned and corporate controls the music. It's a shame because it was so annoying we ended up leaving and watching the Bulls game at another bar.
Review Source:I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Fox and Hound. Â The food is good as is the atmosphere. Â The service is patchy. Â Most of the time when I go in for lunch it is just fine. Â When I go to watch a Pay-per-View Event, it's generally poor. Â At the PPVs I usually wait up to 30 minutes for service, sometimes more. Â Tonight I didn't even complain, because I wanted to see how long it would take for someone to notice me. Â 2 1/2 hours! Â Now, I was there for the PPV, not the food tonight, so I didn't much care but that is pretty appalling! Â In all fairness, they did finally come over, apologize, refunded my cover charge and comped me some food. Â So in conclusion : usually good, service needs serious work during special events.
Review Source:Best sports bar in Winston-Salem! Â Many screens, all HD. Â 3 separate rooms so they can have 3 different games on with sound. Â Â And with 36 taps and extensive bottle list, one of the best beer selections in town. Â Enough IPA's to keep hop-heads happy. Â Food is usual bar fare but consistently good and always served hot.
Review Source:Great neighborhood feel. Wings and burgers are best deal. Service is good and friendly. Our favorite place to eat. They have an amazing beer selection (so says my hub) and their food is always good. The management is on top of things! If something is not to your satisfaction, say so before it gets out of hand! This applies to anywhere!

SERVICE 2 :(
Went on New Year's Day for some football/late lunch.  Pretty good crowd- according to one of the patron's if you get there before 1 pm you get a raffle ticket for an NFL jersey- this is each Sunday apparently  and I thought that was pretty cool.  Anyhoo- remarked how it was pretty busy and he said that on a "normal" Sunday volume was twice what we saw.
So- got a table...and sat....and sat...and sat. SEVERAL waitresses walked by. I'd say we were there a good 10-15 minutes-closer to 15.  Just when I was was going to ask someone who our server was- we got Joy, who had previously walked byus SEVERAL times without batting an eye. Ah yes, Joy....Joy who was nice enough, but in no real hurry to do ANYTHING- and by ANYTHING I mean take orders, get drinks, bring our food, check to see how we were doing, checking to see if we were still alive,  etc.  In fact,  we noticed every table in our section with a pained look on their  face- vying for her attention- one table  even spoke to manager. Tables in her section were all uncleared as she would being to bus a table, but then flit away to play with straws or the soda machine.  Not ONE table got fully cleared while we were there.
They have a GREAT bar food menu in my opinion- just good drinking grub. My food was amazing!  Wings? A little small but crispy and greasy good. HUGE house salad (although a little pricey for $4 as a side) .  Broccoli  subbed for fries was deli-sh and ribs? YUM-O!!!! Â
We are NOT demanding customers by ANY stretch- just keep our beers full. Â This was NOT the case with Joy- she seemed more occupied with entertaining her fellow male busboys than customer service- in all honesty- should have left her 10% but the server in me wouldn't go lower than 15 %. I'm kinda pissed at myself as I write this.
SO we liked the atmosphere and crowd enough to go back. TONS of TV and good greasy bar food. Â BUT I PROMISE you we will NOT be sitting in Joy's section.
Stopped into Fox and Hound on Saturday night and was actually surprised at how busy it was. Â The place was pretty packed. Â My friends and I saddled up to one of the long high tables in the center of the noisy restaurant.
It was so crowded around us that sometimes it was difficult for our server to even reach us. Â Not a very functional design.
We ordered a bucket of beers. Â They had pretty good drink specials going on and because of the difficulty to get to our table we figured a bucket would spare some frustration of waiting for beers during our meal.
We started with some bottomless chips and salsa. Â The chips were REALLY salty. Â You could (and probably should) wipe off some of the salt from each chip. Â The salsa was pretty good but we didn't even go through one whole basket because of the chips.
For my entree, I had the fish and chips. Â The portions were large but just like the chips, everything was very very salty. Â I think I went through 17 glasses of water. Â It was bad. Â Other than the saltiness, everything was ok but I can't get over the salt levels.
Winston-Salem has a dearth of sports bars but I don't think I'll return to Fox & Hound very often.
This place is a solid three and a half star place but I rounded up because the server was nice. Â It's a bar, there nothing amazing about it. Â
It's actually kind of small for a Fox & Hound, because I've been to a few in Charlotte and they are just much bigger. Â That being said, there are a TON of pool tables which is nice if you want to unwind, and all of the televisions are clear and easy to see from everywhere in the bar. Â
The food was actually good. We got the sampler appetizer thing, so I got to taste a little of everything they had as far as bar food. The wings were a little small and over fried, but everything else was pretty spot on. Â My friends had the french dip and the cheese steak and they said it was "really good...surprisingly good!" Â Maybe it was lowered expectations?! Â IDK, I would definitely come here again with some friends to try out some other items on their menu. Â
Wednesdays they have Blue Moon on tap for $2.50. (That's for you Jon!) lol! :)
I went here once and service was horrible. I tried it a second time for a NBA playoff game and my girlfriend and myself were the last one's in the place. We went to the restroom as we were leaving and immediately realized she left her wallet at the table. We went back in and it was gone! We asked the staff and amazingly no one had seen her wallet. The manager had no desire to help us either. Needless to say we won't go back and wouldn't support a place like this.
Review Source:There's nothing really amazing about the Fox & Hound. A sports bar is pretty much a sports bar. I will say that the food is decent sports bar food. I've had better and worse. They had an average beer selection. Coming from other cities with much better bars, I'd give it a solid 2 stars if it were anywhere else I have lived, however, due to the lackluster nature of Winston Salem, I bumped it up to a 3 based on location, number of pool tables, the shuffleboard table, and blue moon on draft.
Review Source:That was the BEST Chicken Caesar salad I ever had! Â I got the chicken blackened and it was just perfect. Â The service was excellent. Â The biggest negative was the lingering smell of cigarette smoke. Â NC recently became smoke free in restaurants so I think that will eventually dissipate.
The atmosphere is definitely a sport bar but it is well cared for and clean. Â There are pool tables too, but I didn't get the chance to play because I was at a business luncheon. Bummer.
Went there on a Thursday night to meet up with some friends, got a few beers, then some more. Decided it wasn't our cup of tea, so we left and went to another bar. Besides that the the music was good, the service was great.... everyone was very friendly!!! Â I wouldn't mind going back on a Friday or Saturday night to check it out, it would have probably gotten more stars if i did!
Review Source:I have mixed feelings about the Fox and Hound. Â On the positive side, I've had many good times there watching sporting events on one of the many TVs (it's kind of a sports bar). Â On the negative side, half the waitresses are preggers, the place is full of cigarette smoke, and the crowd is a bit odd at times (e.g. Ultimate Fighting night). Â Should be 2.5 stars but I round down.
Review Source:Love this place - been there numerously!
Most - including myself - go for the bar...and the sort of bar atmosphere...
But many also go for the food and the sort of restaurant vibe that it kinda has goin on...
I really love their cheesy fries w/ the Ranch Dressing! Â Mmm mmm MMM!!
And the service and bartenders are pretty nice, friendly and personable...
