I utilize Yelp to read reviews not write them. this may be my 2nd review written but  its ridiculous the amount of times i walk in to this place and they are out of things (chocolate consonants, soups, breads). By 1pm they are consistently out of one thing or another.   The only reason i keep going back is bc they have good food, pricey but good...if its available. I can understand they do not want foods to go to wast but you would think if chilli Is the special of the day they would make enough for people to have during a lunch hour!! Shape up or ship out.

I work a block from this place, and it is literally the only place in sight to get lunch with in walking distance. The food is pretty good, Its the attitudes of the service and the expensive prices that make me cringe when I step inside. I do like their chicken sandwich, the pesto pasta, and the macaroni and cheese. I just wish they were more reasonably priced and less elitist.

On top of that one of my coworkers finds it silly that they only make a few chocolate croissants per day. Every time he try's to get one they are always gone. Were talking 2-3 for the day. For as good as they are, you would think you may want to provide more than a few to make your regulars happy.

These guys are alright. After a rocky start we're finally on the same page.

Tasty-as commuter sandwich - an egg mcmuffin basically. Comes with a hot or iced coffee for $5. Can't complain and I won't.

Lived near by for years and finally stopped by for dinner around 6pm, walked in to welcoming environment with the staff being very helpful and a great looking sandwich menu.  Unfortunately the sandwiches are only available till 5pm.  I'll have to go back to check that out and see if they can be bumped to the 5 star rating.   I ordered a piece of goddess chicken and a side of roasted veg.  Both were pretty good, the chicken was moist even after reheated in the microwave, the breading was perfect.  It was stuff with sun dried tomatoes and goat cheese, and my only complaint was that there wasn't enough of it in the chicken.  The roasted veg was fine, nothing special.  I'll be back and hopefully can try out a sandwich.

Breakfast burrito comes with jarred salsa. I almost asked for my money back right there!  lol  With the ten mins of wait you for a breakfast burrtio you would think typically this is going to be a gourmet burrito. Totally farthest thing from it.  Eggs were totally dry n flavorless. They throw sour cream to try to give flavor n it doesn't really help the eggs.

Never plan on coming back for b-fast again, well it should be called b-slow...

    Oh, delicious sandwiches and sweets!

I love the Goddesss & Grocer, because no matter how much sugar and empty calories I consume there, I feel like it's healthy.  Bless you, little grocer, bless you.

I love the garden wrap - all veggies chopped and rolled up with a tasty dressing.  The mint brownies...oh god.  And top it all off with some coconut water.

I could eat it everyday.  Yum!  One of my favorite places for lunch!

I want to like this place, but the last couple experiences have ended my relationship with them. Turned off by paying close to $14 for lunch by the time it's all said and done with drink, etc. My second to last experience, I went in, I ordered a potato salad side that was completely inedible- it was like someone poured an entire shaker of salt over it...disgusting. The last time I came in, I ordered 1/2 chicken salad with soup. I drove a good distance out of my way to grab lunch there, and halfway on my journey back to the office, I realize they gave me a tuna salad sandwich. Would have been fine if I liked tuna the same, but I can't stand it! Blech.m How can you screw up an order when I was one of two people in line? You weren't busy?

Slow but very good.  I don't mind waiting when it is good.  Love the pretzel bites as well

I've always wanted to try this place seeing that I drive past here quite often. It looks like a nice little deli that's always busy. So when they put an offer on groupon, I jumped at the chance to try them.

I finally made it over there the other day and looked around. I opted for a sandwich and a cup of tea. I had the turkey BLT. I liked the fact that you're able to make substitutions. Some places serve things and you have to purchase them as is. I don't eat white bread and they let me change the bread on the sandwich. They have pre made sandwiches and salads but I like my sandwiches made fresh. I also had a carrot cake cupcake. You know I had to try the cupcake, as I am the cupcake cutie. It was good, very good.

I agree that it's a nice deli and good food but it is a little pricey. Would I come back? Sure, the food was good and they have so much to choose from. Would love to try other options they have available.

If you're looking for the psuedo-hipster/Yuppie lunch spot on Damon, then you won't find it at this off-the-beaten-track location on Elston.  They serve mostly the same products here but I would say the atmosphere is a little bit more 'real.' The workers here are really nice but without the fake crap you get at corporate sandwich shops (i.e. Jimmy Johns etc.) The food is awesome, though there are a few things you would probably want to avoid.  Seems like they have always have something new or different which is cool too.

I like some of their food offerings, though they are definitely expensive for what you get. I was completely turned off by the woman on the phone who was rude and impatient when I asked her a couple of questions about their sandwich. I put up with their overpriced food because it was decent but I will not tolerate rudeness when I'm calling to place an order to give you business.

For work we catered from here for our around town trolley excursion.

My beef tenderloin was chewy and tasted like tuna. I did not get the chips I ordered (neither did half the others group). My greek salad appeared to be a couple of days old (the cucumbers where transparent). For dessert I ordered the lemon bar which should be renamed the coconut bar, which was soggy and fell apart as I ate it. My coworker sitting next to me voiced her displeasure with her chocolate chip cookie "I want to go mmmm after eating a chocolate chip cookie, I just don't have that satisfied feeling after eating this".

Pretty sure that they use this as their primary location for catering, hence the HUGE kitchen and TINY storefront. Nothing like the bustling, fabulous Damen location, this Goddess & Grocer tucked away on a pretty desolate stretch of Elston certainly reflects its surroundings and is not the slightest bit shopper friendly if looking to stock up handsomely on yummy, unique goods.

Only open during the week (no weekend service here, kiddies) this Goddess location is super bare bones. With only a few options in the 'gourmet' pantry area (Kookaburra licorice, Tate's Crackers, Pirates Booty) and positively slim pickins' in the take-away salad fridge (ahem, there were THREE choices and no appearance from my beloved lo-carb chef's salad), I was feeling an absolute lack of familiarity at this newer Goddess locale.

They're mostly sandwich and breakfast (served all day) item heavy here... my California Dreaming sammie with maple turkey, avocado, swiss, sprouts, lemon mayo and tomato on multigrain was definitely tasty but didn't come close to satiating the soup and salad itch that I was oh-so-desperate to scratch. Even the display cases seemed a bit sad and sparse on a busy, sunny Friday. Why set up shop only to half-appease your new neighborhood clientele?

Amp up this spot like your Damen Ave one! If you stock like a great Grocer, the Goddesses will come.

They catered to my company today and the food was phenomenal. The oven potatoes, lemon chicken and steamed vegetables were amazing. The chocolate brownies with white chocolate chips were also oustanding. I am only commenting on the catering since I have never been to the actual store but after today I plan on visiting.

Tried again.  Hot sandwiches are more exciting but food is inconsistent.  Sometimes they run out of items after lunch but this doesn't guarantee freshness or quality.  Prices are out of line if they can't deliver a consistent product.

Last week I had a sandwich that made me reconsider, but I came back today and the lettuce was soggy and the chicken was inedible.

Whoa! The chicks that run this place are smokin'! I think that they're available, too! A guy can dream ;)

    The food is delicious, too.

So, do yourself a favor, come in for the eye-candy, stay for more eye-candy, and then pick yourself up one of the delicious pre-made salads and a gourmet sandwich, made fresh to order.
