Went with the family and chose to sit upstairs on the rooftop patio on a lovely summer night. We had the fried calamari for an appetizer and I thought it was pretty bad. The calamari was either overcooked or freezer burned. Some were white and shriveled up like rubber bands. My son ate it anyway but I am a squid snob. My daughter had the fried ravioli and loved it - so much so that I never got one!
We went on a Wednesday night and they have a $5 spaghetti special with a choice of 2 sauces. My son had that and liked it. I had Mussels Arabiatta. I was amazed at how fresh the mussels tasted - especially after the calamari. The pasta was al dente and the sauce was really flavorful and spicy (and messy - don't wear white). My husband and daughter really liked thier pastas and the bread they served at the table was not bad either. We  were too full for dessert. The service was very good and the beer was very cold. All in all it was a very nice meal and I would definitely go back.

I was way excited that finally a new restaurant has opened in this location.  It is walking distance from my house. There was previously a Tex Mex restaurant called "Rusty Armadillo" in its place that did'nt last long.

The atmosphere was very nice looking.  Very nice flooring, tables, booths, bar.  However it is tight.  We had a group of 6 and were seated at the very front of the restaurant.  Half-way through our meal a band came in and were seated directly next to us...almost on top of us! The guitar players leg actually bumped me! It was very uncomfortable and loud.  I love hearing live music however not that close.  I could not longer hear the people I was having dinner with. That was very disappointing.

On to the food:  We ordered bruschetta as an appetizer and it was not your traditional bruschetta.  They were little scoop type crackers things with the diced tomatoes and some parm on top. They were cute but not what we were looking for.  We saw other tables that were served bread so we asked our waiter for some.  He brought us some and the bread was not great.  It was hard and dry and did not taste good at all. I like the Italian bread you can buy at Jewel much better!

Main Course: Next my brother ordered a steak and it was very dry and chewy.  My Mom and Step-Dad both ordered Chicken Vesuvio and were disappointed.  I cant remember who else ordered what, but i ordered Chicken Parm and it was actually very good. I was the only one that liked what they ordered! The chicken was very good.  Not dry and very flavorful.  The only thing I did'nt like was the pasta side that came with it. They pretty much ust cooked some noodles and dumped a large spoonful of marinara sauce on top.  The sauce was very bland.  I had to add salt and pepper to give a little bit of something. I think a can of prego would have had more taste than that. So not impressed!

Dessert: MY FAVORITE PART! I got to hand it to them, the dessert was the best part of my meal.  They had a special going on: Bananas Foster....yum! The owners husband (the chef) had a portable stove top at the bar.  We could see him striking up a flame at the bar making the bananas foster which made the place smell so good!  It was delicious!

After the meal was over my i took my daughter to the bathroom for a diaper change. I always check out bathrooms and love nice bathrooms in restaurants. I go in the bathroom and it was very nicely decorated. BUT....i was looking around for the diaper changing table and there was NO DIAPER CHANGING TABLE! I was not happy. I hate when places dont have one. What do they want me to do, change my child's diaper on the table where we were eating dinner? I think next time IF i ever decide to go back to this place i will call and make sure they have installed one. On my way out of the bathroom I did ask the owner (the female owner) if this restaurant is ever going to get a diaper changing table or are they not trying to create a child friendly atmosphere. She replied saying that they have only been open for 6 weeks and havent even thought about it. Sooo....she should !

A new addition to the Northwest Side Culinary Desert...yayyyyyy!!

I was sad that this building stood empty for over a year because it was such a beautiful space. (this used to be a Tex-Mex restaurant that didn't last long)

    What a great new addition!
Delicious Italian food...fantastic service...and like I said above, great atmosphere.
Long, dark bar, friendly bartender....huge comfy "suede" booths, white tablecloths, and for you sports nuts (like my husband) flat screens abound.

We started with the Hot Sausage & Pepper Appetizer...good but nothing special.
We then ordered the specials of the night...
    Me-Chicken Vesuvio....half chicken, potatoes, peas, juicy-garlicky-yummy sauce.  I couldn't finish it all....doggie-bag please.(normally $11.95 special $9.95)
The husband-BBQ Ribs....full slab of meaty, smokey sauce, done just right (normally $17.95 special 14.95)
The entrees come with House Salad....which I have to say one of the best ever...we're not talking iceberg & a tomato anymore....these salads had romaine, artichokes, olive and HEARTS of PALM...my favorite!
The warm butter-crusted bread tested my willpower, but I needed at least one piece to soak up my garlicky goodness!

The chef and the owner both came to our table and introduced themselves (always a nice touch) They told us there is live entertainment on Saturdays nights and they will always have daily specials.

    We definitely will be back.
