A great pub in which to relax and visit. Â The bartenders are awesome but the owners/managers tend to be aloof . Â The food is really good since there has been new ownership. Â Biggest drawback for many pub goers -- the microbrew beers are constantly running out. Â Once the tap runs dry, it can be up to a week before a new keg is delivered. Â Apparently there are no back-ups. Â This is an ongoing situation that needs to be addressed. Â A pub needs to keep the beer flowing.
Review Source:I don't know about the other two negative reviews... But I've only had very good experiences at this place. Service is very friendly. The food is prepared as ordered and the orange chicken and crab rangoons are great! Â I was impressed by the radish (?) (I'm not even sure what it was) ornament/garnish sculpting they put on the plate with each dish. Nice touch.
They recently started doing free delivery. I would have given this place 4 stars but it loses one because of the price:value ratio. It's great food but if you're going to spend $$ (the 2 dollar sign rating is accurate) then I expect a little more... pizazz? I dont know. Â Also worthy of noting is the fact that the food at this place is way better than the nearby Chinese buffets.
We stumbled upon this place when looking for a Starbucks to get online at and decided we were hungry. Now, it was totally by accident because you can't see it at all from the street. It's in a corner plaza and behind other businesses - it's a wonder they have stayed in business! Â But I think they have regulars. Â I've always gone at lunch time with good lunch prices and great portions and have NEVER been disappointed with the food at all. We usually order their chicken low mein with a few other things and I ask them not to add too much "salt" or "oil" to my food like I do in most places and they always make it to order.
The flavor is good, the price right. The decor is soothing in that there are no garish colors and everything appears clean and tidy. Sort of pastel, but whatever. Â Go at lunch time, not too busy, custom order your food and then enjoy! Â Oh and they have an adjoining bar that I think get's busy in the evening. If Gourmet Wok is reading this, you really should do more RENTON and New Castle advertising because you can't afford to lose business to other more visible places and if you closed, I would be heartbroken! At least get one of those bistro-style street signs you can put near the sidewalk with an arrow directing people to the business!
I wish I didn't get take out otherwise I would have sent the food back. Â
I ordered the stir fried eggplant, however I did not receive said order. Â I got some sort of unidentifiable vegetable in a tasteless brown sauce. Â Everything was mush and the only appealing part of the meal was when I stopped trying to push my way through it and threw it away.
I like to think I know good Chinese food, Ive worked at Chinese places for over two years now and what I had today did not resemble any Chinese food I've ever had. Stay away!
Ironically, though I've driven by thousands of times in the past, I would not have even noticed this place if it hadn't been for the road closure of Duvall Avenue NE! Â (Note: access to this place via Duvall Avenue NE is still possible... the road isn't closed until further to the north).
Located (relatively hidden) behind a Bank of America, this Chinese restaurant offers a broad assortment of menu items including veggie meals. Â The restaurant also has an attached lounge. Â
I had curry chicken with veggies and rice as part of a lunch special that included a small salad, soup, tea, and was about $9 when tax and tip is applied. Â It was satisfactory for a lunch, though the portions were not overly large and I was pretty hungry. Â I should have ordered a humbow!
As for other details, the decor is OK, staff is friendly, and parking is adequate. Â
Overall, it's average and I would consider returning again and ordering the pineapple chicken my co-worker had -- looked way better than my meal choice.
SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!
I figured, can't go wrong ordering a few things here on my way home from work...sadly mistaken. Â I ordered the salt & pepper pork, which are usually nice crispy thinly cut pork chops. Â It seemed like someone already beat me to the tender morsels of pork leaving crispy chunks of sinew on fried bones. Â Also the hot pot special had nothing but cheap filler of imitation crab meat and celery. Â And lastly we ordered the house special chow mein with curry sauce. Â The noodles tasted like they were boiled and mixed with a curry sauce and again cheap fillers. Â
Don't waste your money here. Â Go down the street to Renton Seafood on 4th and Union.
This just happened to be the closest Chinese restaurant to us when we moved to Washington, and our order that first night consisted of honey walnut prawns and salt and pepper prawns. We've never found anything else there as good as those two dishes, but those were great, and the salt and pepper prawns are addictive! I've made new friends by taking those salt and pepper prawns to parties! Truly! I think I get invited back as much for the salt and pepper prawns I'm known to bring as for any other reason.
Oh, and guess what my favorite dish here is? That would be the salt and pepper prawns. :-)
The owners have recently brought in their own personal blood parrot fish. If you've never taken the time to watch these controversial hybrid fish, waiting for your order gives you a great opportunity to do just that. I've never seen fish with such personality, and they SMILE at you!! Love them.
If you've read my other Chinese restaurant reviews, you'll know that I have never met a Chinese restaurant I didn't like. Well, that amazing streak has come to an end...
This place is terrible. My General Tso's chicken tasted like nothing I've ever had. In fact it didn't even taste "Asian", if such a thing is even possible in a Chinese restaurant.
They had just come under new management, so maybe they aren't paying their cooks enough resulting in meals that will drive customers away. I don't know, but I certainly won't be back.
