I love beer. I love video games. I can't hate Headquarters based on those facts alone.
However, I can't love it either. I prefer the selections at Emporium and Logan Hardware, though it is nice that games are free. The beer list is great, but disappointing for your poor friend who can't afford to only drink craft. Maybe throw those dudes a bone, too.
What really bothered me was the crowd. I watched some mongoloid jackass literally smash the casing on one of the cabinets while playing, in a vodka red bull induced rage. One of the bartenders said it was the second time that week.
Hands-down, Emporium wins over Headquarters. Sorry, bros.
My boyfriend and I love a few blocks away from Headquarters, but never really noticedit until a few months ago. We checked it out and we have really been missing out. The atmosphere is relaxed and nerdy/hip. There are light fixtures made from pipes outside the "beercade." All of the games are free, so I found myself trying new games that I wouldn't have tried if I had to pay with tokens.
They have a great selection of beers and even a couple unusual ciders. We only had to wait for a game as couple of times. I can't wait to see what the place looks like when the new expansion opens!
