Fish Bar

Simply adorable restaurant. Counter service only.
On a cold February day during Lent had a taste for some Lobster Bisque: butternut squash & cayenne. I also grabbed some Gumbo: blue crab & andouille sausage. Both delicious. The shrimp/beet salad is light & refreshing. Bartender at counter serves and is very helpful.

I waited WAYYYYY too long to eat here.  This place had me reeling over something as simple as gumbo!  I felt like I was at Stanley's in New Orleans in the French Quarter.  The dark roux they use in their gumbo has that river silt earthiness that you only ever taste way down south and their Oyster Po' Boy is difficult to not order time and time again.  The most unassuming waitress I've ever encountered has a face like a porcelain doll and has some of the most darling expressions you've ever seen.  Not in the mood for seafood?  Go next door to DMK Burger and get a second dose of some of the best service in Chicago; not to mention one of the best burgers you can get in Chicago!  Seriously in my top three and Kuma's isn't one of them!

As I waited for friends she brought out two crackers with a salmon dill spread AND at dinner she brought out a side of complimentary potatoes with bacon. She was a great and personable server! My group had chowder, grilled calamari, ceviche, ahi tuna tartare, an oyster po boy, and the lobster roll. There was not one thing we weren't crazy about!

I wish the seating arrangement was different, as it was a little tricky finding four spots together. Other than that, Fish Bar is highly recommended!
