Upscale, well stocked, friendly/knowledgeable bartenders serving up a banging CHOCOLATE Martini ;-)  Use CAUTION...they go down so smooth you're likely to forget how strong they are.  *hiccup*

Best times to check this little gem would be happy hour when the local politicians are in session or during one of the evenings when live jazz is being offered. Otherwise, it's pretty slow if people watching is your game.

Bartenders Mike and Izzy informed me the hotel is under going renovations starting with the upper floors making this first floor bar one of the last things to be updated however, there is talk of The Bar becoming a stogie club for you connoisseurs.

    Some details to know:

    Non-smoking (currently)
No beer served at The Bar but it's sister bar, across the hall, serves up beer and you can travel freely between the two bars.
You can order nibbles from two different menus.
During the winter months, the live jazz is offered only 2X a month. Click the link for details <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.steverudolph.com%2FHIlton2012.htm&s=54088118a7b8cef038abc181e497b7e626a9b7adb6771aa189bc7e071cd35a62" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.steverudolph.…</a>.
    No cover charge.
The dress code is relaxed to include casual but I would venture to say BETTER casual.
Parking available via Court St. with elevator to hotel.  Press 'A' for the lobby.
Wifi available at The Bar for you internet junkies.

I will certainly be going back.

This is fine place. On weekends they have live music, and it is quite there. Good for a sophisticated date.

If you are a single guy who is trying your luck i would suggest to to the bars that are nearby to hilton, hilton just sttracts more mature crowd and that too that are in groups.

Drinks are not that expensive, the bartenders are friendly and warm

My wife and I enjoy going to the Hilton Bar on occasion.  We like the atmosphere, the drinks and the music.  Food is a little expensive, but it's a Hilton.  We also like the outdoor cafe during good weather.  Very relaxing as you watch the evening crowd on the street.

For a hotel bar, this is definitely 5 stars.  Set away from the main entrance in a cozy corner, through some big wooden double doors, is this beautiful old bar with an impressive selection of spirits...surrounded by low tables with comfy chairs and a huge grand piano in the corner, where most nights there is live jazz.

My dirty martini with freshly hand-stuffed blue cheese olives was perfect and delicious.  I know they were freshly stuffed because we watched the bartender leave for the kitchen, and come back five minutes later with six plump, stuffed to the brim giant olives.  That, my friend, tops the charts right there.  They also served these freshly baked pita chips that were AHHHH-mazing...my friend and I devoured two baskets in no time.

The bartenders were excellent, and for a hotel, the prices weren't bad at all.

Gotta say, I was a bit disappointed in the atmosphere, felt too much like the lobby bar in any old Hilton.  It was slow, only a few tables, and I sat alone at the bar.  Wait staff would routinely gather behind me to stand and chit-chat.  Even worse though were the drinks.  I ordered a real martini (gin) and asked some questions about the gin they had, how he made them, etc.  The bartender was clueless, and in fact kept steering me towards a vodka martini "because that's what everyone likes, not gin".  Oh yeah I'm in Central PA.  But this place is supposed to be a step up...I'm just not seeing it.  Try the Iberian Lounge in Hotel Hershey, they know their drinks!

Between this place and Raspberries across the way there really isn't any better way to spend an evening with a friend and good conversation. Especially when they have a player on the piano.  They have an excellent selection of wines and their recommendations so far have been spot on each time.

Quality old school hotel bar.  Live piano player completing the atmosphere.  Great selection of drinks and quality service.  Definitely recommend to take a date or to relax after a day of work.

    LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!

The service is excellent.  The decor is gorgeous.  The music is well chosen.  And the food is delectable!  I especially enjoy their dessert with balsamic-marinated strawberries, pound cake, and fresh whipped cream.  TO DIE!!!!!!

The bartender made one of the best dirty martinis I've ever had.  Their selection of ports is excellent!  I was just so thrilled with everything I experienced here!  And it's priced rather well considering the quality and service you receive.

Free live jazz in a comfortable yet elegant setting. What's not to like about the place? The bar isn't too big, but they have a good wine and liquor selection. Especially nice in the summer months when they open up the doors onto 2nd street for outdoor seating.

They've also got some decent food and drink specials during the week if you're looking for a good Harrisburg happy hour. You can find their happy hour specials here: <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hiltonharrisburgdining.com%2Fhappy-hour.html&s=5e5992fc01e6c5bb7058938122d50c924ce8c437db22989116cb679461d43c0e" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.hiltonharrisb…</a>

Yes!  A huge bonus prize for choosing to stay at the Hilton was this great bar / jazz club.  Truly impressive performance of solo piano by Steve Rudolph.  Steve plays in various combos during the week.  The Golden Sheaf wine list is available here, and the by the glass selection is extensive.  A gem uncovered, and I will certainly come back here next time I'm in Harrisburg.

The bar located inside the Hilton Hotel in downtown Harrisburg remains one of Second street's rare treasures.  Featuring super comfy chairs to sink into as you stylishly recline with your favorite cocktail, the highlight of this intimate club is the live jazz to be found Tuesday through Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons, all with no cover charge.

Nowhere else in the area can you consistently find such marvelous jazz performers jamming a few feet from your table while enjoying the city's best mixed drinks.  I am a devotee of the Manhattan, and I order it made with bourbon and served up...this is a drink that does not lie; in the hands of a careless bartender it burns (at best).  But always at this wonderful little bar have I enjoyed all the warming, smooth perfection of a well-turned Manhattan.  It is an excellent bar to visit with a dreadfully odd drink in mind, for these 'tenders are willing to meet a challenge.

With large windows looking out onto Second street (which in warmer weather open up to allow diners --and drinkers-- to make use of the patio and outdoor grill) and a large, old-school, polished bar, it possesses a certain open, roomy, yet intimate feel.  You can easily find a corner table to nestle into with your amour, or snag a seat by the band du jour for a foot-thumping evening.  Complimentary munchies are provided at the bar, and a free fruit and cheese spread accompanies every  happy hour.

I've had the pleasure of seeing some absolutely stellar jazz musicians at the Hilton bar over the years (it opened shortly before I turned 21, a fortuitous coincidence), and they continue to be one of the area's best sources for live jazz.  Steve Rudolph is the house pianist, and, with his trio, you can count on some happenin' tunes even if you pop in on a night with no guest act.

Still doesn't sound good enough?  Well, you can also order an excellent meal from the Hilton kitchen.

A varied, welcoming atmosphere, you can arrive all dolled-up to the nines and make it a special night, or wander in wearing jeans and be perfectly comfortable.  It has all the ambiance and romance of a 50's style piano bar; you can almost envision Sinatra leaning against a barstool, Scotch in hand.

Highly recommend this spot -- it's a great place to go with friends, have a romantic night with a lover, or, if melancholia should grip you, wander in all alone and take refuge in that ancient love-sick balm of jazz and cocktails.
