Very bad customer service !!! They hire idiots who like to sing and talk loud in front of the customers thinking they are being cool . They gave me a pre-made cold pizza that was in the cooler for maybe a day and they said it is just as good as the fresh one because they were too lazy to make a new one (it was 6 pm). The door was open and it was freezing outside and they wont close it. I ended up throwing this stupid pizza in the garbage because it came out of the oven so bad....
Please avoid this location at all cost.
This is a great addition to the Streeterville area for those looking for a good salad or a hot slice of pizza to go which is surprisingly difficult to find in this part of town.
Their cheese and veggie slices of thin crust pizza are really good and for under $3 a slice, it's a great deal on those days you don't have a chance to bring your own lunch or need a small meal before heading over to the beach. The pizza is always hot and fresh out of the oven.
If you are in the mood for salad, the Cabo Salad is a great choice with avocados, red peppers, onions and tortilla strips over romaine and spinach.
The people behind the counter are always super-friendly and there is a small outdoor seating area with about 3 tables, but it is a mostly carry out location.
One small gripe: the pizza slice boxes never close - invest in some good boxes!
I know it's kind of illogical on my part, but I felt strange getting an uncooked pizza. Â It's like if I'm going to pay the price, then I expect it to be ready to eat when I get it. Â Not like this was a surprise... I mean they made it very clear that this is how it works. Â I figured I'd try it... but the feeling arose when I had to fire up the oven, wait for it to pre-heat, get the pizza in on this awkward paper, which sort of collapses... Â I feel like if I'm going to pay like $18 for a pizza, why am I doing extra work??
Now I'm sure the idea is that you get a piping hot oven-fresh pizza at home and you don't have to knead the dough, roll it, shred the cheese, slice the toppings, sauce, etc. Â So it's kind of mixed feelings.
The pizza itself was good. Â I'd say the way it turned out, there was an outer "donut" ring of the pizza which was nice and crispy. Â Very tasteful. Â The inner circle of it was kind of soggy... Â Flavor wise good... I think if I ordered again I might ask for extra sauce.
That's the thing. Â I'm not sure yet if I'd order from HomeMade again. Â The issue I face is certainly not the employees fault. Â Their service was great. Â The lady on the phone was probably the nicest and most polite person I've ever talked to on the phone. Â The delivery was prompt and I have absolutely no complaints in that regard either. Â The business idea is more the issue... Â We'll see.
PROS:
- Pizza Quality is very good. It's fresh and they use. And tasty depending on what you order on it.
- It's always ready on time and service is friendly.
- You can park quickly for free right in front if you're just going in to purchase and pick up. So leave your hazards on.
- You get email confirmations of your order and receipt. That's nice.
- It's not greasy or heavy. Period.
CONS:
- My only complaint is that... for one large pizza with several toppings, sometimes paying $20-$25 can be of pricey... I usually only get this with my sister, since she is a fan for sure.
TIPS:
- One Large Pizza will feed about 2 hungry people, 2.5 normal people.
- You order the pizza, pick it up, and bake it at home.
- They also have super small sizes so that can be nice.
It makes me sad when people don't understand the concept of delicious, organic/natural and timesaving products.
Yes, I could buy a frozen pizza for $5-10. I could take it home and it would take 10-15 minutes to make and it might be okay. But that's probably the best you'll get.
Yes, I could make my own pizza at home, including a homemade crust, chopping up my own ingredients and buying high quality cheeses, meats and toppings. But that would cost about $20 (if you get QUALITY ingredients, not Kraft cheese and the like) and it would take 3-4 hours! Why so long? Crusts take a while to rise and prepare. Trust me, I know. One of my favorite meals to make with my wife is homemade pizza! You should try it sometime if you haven't. I could buy a pre-made crust, but that's got a shelf life of much longer than I care for. Same with a store-bought sauce!
Enter HomeMade Pizza Company. They make the pizzas for you using high quality ingredients. Yes, good sausage has grease and it might run. Suck it up (figuratively) or sop it up (literally). And as someone else complained about, caramelized onions are supposed to be sweet! That's why caramelization is... Especially with a sweet vadallia that they use quite often. And their pizzas only take 10-15 minutes to get ready for you. Call ahead or order online and you can cut your time in the store down to 2 minutes. Or maybe you can really feel lazy and have them bring it to you.
On top of that, you don't have to deal with all of the preservatives, frozen-ness, and generally unhealthy things that the major chains and store-bought pizzas put in their pizza. Sometimes I'm in the mood for that, but that's becoming increasingly rare. The only pizza that rivals HomeMade Pizza Company's is Whole Foods and their take-and-bakes. Same concept, but it's further away from me.
On top of their awesome pizza, every time I go in there I always get a nice welcome and great service.
I'm so happy that HomeMade Pizza Company moved to Streeterville. It's an awesome addition to a neighborhood that just needs a few more places to get some awesome grub.
So I'd hate to be the one to break its 4 and 5 star reviews but I will.
I had the sausage and caramelized onion and it wasn't good. The sausage was really greasy to the point where I had rivers of grease all over my pizza. The sausage did have a good flavor once you got past the grease.
But the onion....I don't know if they put sugar in it but it was way too sweet. It didn't taste natural and completely destroyed the flavor of the pizza.
Next, the price/value is out of whack.
If I want pay nearly $20 for a medium pizza (including tax), I expect someone to make it for me. And for it to taste good.
If I have to bake my own pizza, I might as well pay $5 for a frozen cheese pizza and throw on my own fresh veggies on top.
But if you really want good cheap homemade pizza with fresh ingredients, make it yourself.
Thanks to HomeMade, they inspired me to learn and I found that it's not that hard.
so. freaking. good. omg.. this is a new family favorite. they make your pizza fresh when you order it and once you get it home it only takes 10 min to cook it. i like my pizza a little.. burnt-ish.. so its nice to have control over the end product. but the crust is not to soft, not to crunchy.. perfectly in between.
Review Source:What a brilliant business idea... stock a bunch of ingredients, slap it together into pizza form, and have your customer bake it at home! No overhead costs of having to bake a pizza in shop.
So aside from having a pretty profitable idea, how do these pizza's actually taste? Well, they taste pretty good. It's a good thing too. If I'm going to fork over a lot of money on a pizza and then have to bake it myself, it better taste pretty f*$ckin' good. So this is my breakdown of HomeMade Pizza Co.:
- Their pizza's are packaged well - it comes wrapped with a large piece of parchment paper and a cardboard circle to help you put in and take it out of your oven without leaving any mess. Bravo.
- The pizza tastes good. They sure seem to appear healthier... I had the BLT pizza (bacon, spinach, parmigiano-reggiano cheese, roasted garlic, some tomato sauce) and it was not too greasy or overly oily and it didn't feel too heavy.
- The pizza is a bit overpriced. Sure, some of the ingredients are "premium" ingredients but these are certainly not on every pizza they offer.
- The staff is very friendly.
I think I'll go here every so often, whenever there is a good sale or coupon offer to knock down the price of the pizzas!
I fully admit that I had never had HomeMade Pizza Company pizza because I couldn't get over one thing... why on earth should I pick up a pizza for $15 that I still have to cook, when I can get a frozen one for $5!?
Well, I now know the answer to this question. It. Is. Delicious.
This store was handing out free, yes, FREE medium-size pizzas & salads to celebrate their grand opening. I have never met people that love their job as much as the HomeMade Pizza Co. people do. Friendly, fast, and eager to explain everything that goes into their (super fresh) pizzas. I took my pizza home, cooked it according to the simple directions, and it was crispy and amazing (I had the BLT sans bacon). The salad was a little blah, but it was free. I'm not complaining that much.
HomeMade Pizza Co. has definitely gained a new customer. So glad I had the opportunity to take advantage of their promotion and see what I was missing!
