The service was friendly, good beer selection, and there was live music the evening we dropped by. All in all a good Eugene experience.

The burger was good, but nothing too remarkable without extras. You really have to build your own, so it's unfortunate all the extras cost a dollar or so apiece. I choose to add guacamole, which stole the show, a perfect balance of flavor. Based on that I'll skip the burger next time and try the nachos. With extra guac.

The vegetarian chili was surprisingly smoky in flavor, really hearty.

Also, make sure to save room for gelato. They whip up different flavors daily.

We dined at The Humble Beagle for the first time tonight, and I'm happy to say we had a fine dinner. I had the (meat) pita sandwich; she had the reuben. Everything seemed fresh and made to order. Great flavors. The smoked pastrami on the reuben gave it a very unique flavor profile. My pita sandwich required me to do all the sandwich-making, which was a bit difficult and messy, but again -- great flavors, unique combinations. Who knew red cabbage and hummus went so well together?

I could see where if it happened to be crowded, it could *really* slow down. Fortunately for us, it was a light night and our food came out in reasonable time. Our server was friendly and reasonably attentive.

We'll likely return, though I wouldn't necessarily say we're in a big rush to do so....

Laid back cafe. Good food and nice rotating list of craft brews. Owners are great with kids.

I really like it. Comfortable pub with great food. Some dishes are off the beaten path.I really dig the house smoked fish. You get oysters, salmon and halabut with horseradish and rustic bread. Great with beer. They also make their own pastrami and do a rubin with it. The garlic fries are killer.

Last night I tried the shakshuka, a thick hot tomato sauce with onions and feta cheese and a couple eggs on top with bread for scooping it out with.

I was pretty enthusiastic about this place when it opened, but stopped going after several experiences with glacial service and mediocre food. I went back last night after maybe a year away, and if anything's changed in the interim, it was for the worse.

The kitchen seems like it may be too small to keep up with even a half-capacity dining room, and for whatever reason, the servers always seem stretched to their limits, as well.

The food's simply not good enough in taste or value to move me to put up with incredibly slow and mistake ridden service.

I, like so many others in this town, don't eat meat.  When we moved in only three blocks from this place I was THRILLED to find it.  My husband would rather I make dinner and relax at home but I knew the local beef selection would lure him in.

We waited at the front for about 5 (not bad) minutes to be seated and were immediately left without menus, the offer of a high chair (for my 1.5 year old) or a "be right back".  When our server did return she asked about beer and I inquired about a wheat beer.  She asked what that meant.  Hmmmmm.  A beer.  With wheat.  Not sure how to give you more synonyms here.  My husband offers her a "it looks lightish, and cloudy usually. Like a hefeweizen". She was still confused and fetched us a chalkboard with the beer list.

We ordered burgers.  I got the veggie burger which was, as warned, very crumbly.  My husband got his med well which was nice that she offered.  She did forget about our beer and we had to remind her.

My daughter broke a dish on their concrete floor and one server watched it happen but didn't come to help.  Another server came, offered us another beer, helped clean ceramic pieces and refilled our water.

All in all, they are getting one star for good beer and one star for local ingredients.  The service was slow and unknowledgeable and the prepared food was just okay.  We probably won't be back, which makes me sad.  I had high hopes :(

EDITING TO ADD:  We did go back but chose to order to go and noticed that there is an additional $1 fee for to go orders.  Really?  I find this tacky.

Good local beer selection, great local/organic food sourcing. Our table kept it petty basic, but there were raves all around. Not the cheapest, but it was a nice quality meal.
Only complaint I'd have was the iceberg lettuce on my burger - I like a little green in my leafies.
Overall it was a place I'd go back to, but not for a casual meal. Excited to try the bakery!

Great for local purveyors, organic, seasonable and sustainable ingredients.

Seasonable, rotating menu features PacNW pub grub with a Middle Eastern twist.

Service is hit or miss. This neighborhood hangout is often busy and seems either understaffed, or I'm misinterpreting the laid-back casual description of the service as somewhat inefficient.

Food can be flavorful, served piping hot and as described on the menu....or a little less so of any or all of the three descriptors above at any given time.

Worth a try, and worth returning to.

Stopped here on a bike ride to the U of O. Got a cookie and it tasted like sawdust with chocolate chips. And the drinks? A little watered down. Kind of disappointing for a place that's as cute as this. Not a place I would come back to.

Went here for dinner the other night and loved it.  Nice space, more like a restaurant than a pub. The food was great -something for everyone.  I had the delicious vegetarian pita (the eggplant was the best), my hubby had the spinach polenta (creamy and delicious), and my daughter the cheeseburger and fries.  The fries are perfectly cooked -crispy outside and tender inside. Every thing looked very pretty on the plate too. Of course one can't forget the beer. great selection. The wait staff was helpful and courteous.

I still like this place but I'm not quite as "5 star" enamored with it as my first time.  The lamb pita no longer has the lamb in ball form and the overall dish was too oily for me (fried eggplant was kind of soggy, oily fries, hummus covered in olive oil).  But overall I still enjoyed the sandwich, it just wasn't worthy of the praise I offered previously.

Still has a nice atmosphere and the servers are friendly.  Next time I come I'll try a different dish.

Very nice waitstaff who are doing their best, but yes, they are very slow. That's not necessarily a bad thing; I used to be the world's biggest fan of Pizza Research Institute, and they were always slow. It's mostly about going in with reasonable expectations.

What's worse is that the food is just mediocre, and is overpriced for the experience. I had the lamb pizza, and nothing about it stood out. The lamb might as well have been hamburger. The crust was soggy, the greens were ... greens, and the garlic yogurt sauce was bland.

I also had the macaroni and cheese, and paid extra for blue cheese. Couldn't tell the difference. It was carbonized in the oven: reasonably well-textured macaroni with a faint flavor of cheese.

The beer selection is up a notch or two from your typical chain restaurant, but is very, very limited, so there's an air of take it or leave it. I understand that's a deliberate choice as to how they operate, but it's a drawback. As it happens, I had a Boont amber ale and liked it, but that was more luck than a complete set of options.

I want this place to be a wonderful experience, because they've got such good intentions. I'm rooting for them as hard as I can. But I just can't be dishonest and say that I enjoyed my meal here. They've got the concept figured out, but they haven't put enough effort into figuring out the execution, the logistics, or the flavors. As an idea, it's a wonderful place. As a destination, it's in the lower half of options in Eugene. Quite possibly the lower quarter.

We just rolled into Eugene and had about an hour and a half to eat dinner before the function my wife wanted to attend. I won't say she was "dragging me" to the event, but it certainly wasn't the kind of thing I'd ever go to on my own. Hey, I'm not complaining. My wife puts up with a lot from me. I'm always forcing her to go with me to every brewery we pass by, and she doesn't even drink. Fair is fair.

Anyway, I fired up the Yelp app and typed in "brew pub". The Humble Beagle was one of the first places to pop up. Perfect, I thought. My wife loves nothing more in this world than her boon companion, Merry the Wonder Beagle. I would suggest a spot for dinner where the name alone would warm her heart...and the beer would warm my belly. Heh, heh.

Unfortunately, the name is probably the best thing about The Humble Beagle. When we first arrived, we were offered a table in the entrance vestibule. I would have accepted those seats, but the area was drafty and the front door banged loudly whenever anyone entered. BAM! BAM! That would have driven me nuts, so we asked for a table in the main dining room.

We didn't have to wait long for a table and they did have some nice beers on tap. Kind of a strange atmosphere. It looks more like a homey breakfast restaurant than a gastropub. My wife ordered a chicken cutlet and I got a bowl of veggie chili.

Wow. We waited forever for our food. I noticed that most of the tables didn't have plates on them, and those folks arrived way before we did. Time was ticking away but we still had about an hour before our engagement. I started thinking The Humble Beagle was going to get me a serious a$$ kicking from my wife. She was checking her watch and I knew what she was thinking, "Enjoy that beer, Sonny Slim, 'cuz it'll be your last." Crap. Yet another "aft gang agley" moment for the Frankster.

Thirty minutes later, food finally started coming out of the kitchen. I don't know what kind of hold up they had back there--cook called in sick, perhaps? Everything was coming out of the kitchen at the same time, so there was some kind of problem. Hey, I've watched "Top Chef" and all those Food Network shows.

I was disappointed to find that my chili was lukewarm. Boo. The sour cream and cheese wasn't even melty, but I had no time to complain. My wife's chicken cutlet was a bit over-cooked and the bed of greens it was sitting on certainly wasn't anything special.

I found the prices to be way too high for the quality of the food. That chicken cutlet was $14 and all it consisted of was two fried pieces of chicken on a bed of Romaine. The veggie chili tasted great, but for $9, it should have been piping hot when it hit the table.

I have to say the servers were very friendly and pleasant. We did get to our function with a minute to spare. I'm bumping the rating up one star for the staff attitude and the fact that I didn't have to walk back to Portland.

I read so many of the comments about this establishment, and felt myself thinking "ya, and that's another thing...."  True, it is local, true they use in-season veggies, true they use organic ingredients, but.....

    Atmosphere.... lack-luster.
Wait staff.... o.k. but ill trained.
Bread.... fresh but "rubbery" texture.  BTW one pad of butter for 6 pieces of bread.... shared by four people.  Really!
Food items that involves deep frying.... too greasy for my liking.
Menu....  I find myself scanning and scanning to look for something that appeals to my pallet.  Which is different than most restaurants I usually visit where I can't decide what to eat because it all looks good. But that's just me.
Our meals X 4.... all around, just average.

We have eaten at the Humble Beagle twice, to be fair to the fare, both times initiated by Living Social Coupons.  There are just so many similar establishments in Eugene that are like the H.B. but do it all better.  Sorry.  I really wanted to like this place.  Truly I did.

BTW, H.B. print up a few new menus.  The ones we were handed look like they have been around for years.... wrinkled, stained, penciled... or perhaps that is the relaxed look you are trying to catering.

The Beagle is great. It's one of the few casual-atmosphere gastro pubs in the south end of town (or perhaps in all of town??) , and the owners are some of the most charming and interesting people you could ever have in the business. Couple that with the fact that the Beag' is family to the equally humble Bagel joint next door...and you've got something really special here.

I've held off on an HB review for so long because I have desperately wanted to give them more than three stars.  I mean, all of the pieces are there: local business, seasonal menus, home-cooked food, great ingredients, hip-but-not-too-hip style, ... so what's wrong?

In my opinion, it's the service and the inconsistency of the food that take the Beagle down a notch. For example, I strongly advise that you call ahead to see how busy the restaurant is--especially if you are on any kind of schedule. I have to use two hands to count the number of times we've been here and waited over an hour for food. Additionally, I hesitate when recommending specific items...because they're not always they same. The chicken cutlet Caesar has been great at least twice for me, but then once it was so greasy that I didn't feel right for two days. The burgers can be to die for, but one time my hubby's was so overcooked that it was unrecognizable. It's too bad, really, because we have enthusiastically (some might say, 'zealously')  brought newbies here on three separate occasions. I think each time they walked away scratching their heads, and wondering if M and I had good taste in food after all.

So there are the caveats, but I still recommend a HB visit. Especially if you can swing it on a casual weeknight where you're likely to be served by Ari or Ani and can get the straight story on how the restaurant opened and the commitment they have to the products they source and the food they serve. Also, when there's no rush, I think you'll be more than pleasantly surprised by the taste of the food. Their cioppino (fisherman's stew) is some of the best in town. The mac and cheese is sinfully decadent. I also am a personal fan of any way that they choose to cook and serve lamb here. They're definitely doing something right with that yogurt sauce!

The Humble Beagle is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood and to the Eugene food scene. I look forward to many more meals there and also to the time when the consistency is such that I can legitimately bump up my rating to the 4-5 star range that I know they're capable of.

I've really tried to like this place.  It's in my 'hood.  It's locally owned.  They use organic ingredients and have a large variety of vegetarian things, etc.  But every time I eat there I end up spending the rest of the evening apologizing to my husband for picking this place, again.

The food is so-so.  Things involving grease are always too greasy.  They never wash off the board with their beer listings so you literally can't read it at all.  The service is hit-or-miss.  I've had attentive service and then other times I've been left to my own devices for far too long.  And it's not always the cleanest, which to a degree I don't usually care, but it can look gross.

And there are the logistics of things, like the fact that you can't eat the veggie burger easily because it's a super soft patty on a ciabatta bun= giant mess.  Wanting to eat a veggie burger and not ordering it because you dread the experience of eating it?  To me that says there is a menu problem and a different kind of bun should be used.  Instead, the server just warns you that it's messy to eat.  Not cool.

The biggest kicker for me is how lack-luster all of their bread products are, given that by day they are a bagel and bread bakery.  Everything is super dense and too chewy.  I always leave feeling like I ate a gut bomb.

I'm sad that I don't like this place more, as I'd love for it to be our go-to place, given the proximity.  Sadly, it's not.

I was hoping for a better experience, but maybe it was the time or day we went. It wasn't a weekend, or even a Friday night but they were busy. I've been to busy restaurants before, and this experience wasn't the greatest. I'd take my review with a grain of salt. Humble beagle pub is a cozy place to hang with friends or significant others. It's a nice mix of young and old.
Pretty simple in terms of decor. Our server, was busy and forgot a lot. He asked us if we wanted bread. We said yes, and it took a long time, before we reminded him again. We never received any utensils, so we had to ask for those as well. We had some beer, but were never asked if we wanted more. Despite an empty glass. Our food took a really long time. Probably 40 minutes.

I had ordered the grilled skirt steak with fries, and my partner had ordered the meatloaf sandwich with soup. The skirt steak wasn't too bad. The chimichurri complemented the skirt steak pretty well. The fries tasted like they were over fried. A little on the dark brown side. Had a little burnt taste to it. I felt bad for my comrade. He was told the soup was split pea, but it wasn't. It was some sort of bean soup. Which was fine. But the sandwich was pretty bad. I had a bite of it. It didn't have substance. Plus the bread was toasted for too long. The meatloaf inside, was the disappointing factor. It was a cm thick. Well, you know what I mean. Barely a sandwich.

Maybe it was the day we went. Who knows. People like this place, so I am assuming, it's way better than we have experienced. It's too bad. Maybe we'll come back one day. But for now, it did leave a little bit of a bad taste in our mouths.

After reading the reviews we tried this spot on a Friday night around 6:00. Because the reviews on Yelp said it was good for kids, we brought our two little guys.

We were told the wait would be a half hour, and our kids had toys with them so we thought we'd be okay. There were other families there but generally, at that time on a Friday night, I would not suggest bringing kids. We waited at least a 1/2 hour for our table. But we did get to enjoy a beer in the waiting area, and that was really cool.

Once at our table, we waited over 20 minutes to have our food order taken. If I had been there with just my husband, that would've been just fine, but it was almost 7:00 so our kids were super hungry and getting wilder by the minute. We waited probably 45 minutes for our food to come. In the meantime, our very patient waitress continued bringing us baskets of bread, which was yummy - but we were frustrated with the wait.

Overall, our food was good. The kids had pizza, which I tasted and thought was nice. I tried the lamb meatballs and thought the whole dish was just okay (meatballs were cold after all that waiting). After reading the reviews I think my expectations were too high. AND perhaps I'm not a big enough fan of lamb itself. The hummus and yogurt sauce were really delicious! My husband had a hamburger and really enjoyed it. We ordered the garlic fries and they were pretty great too. I don't think the plain fries were all that exciting though.

I wouldn't go back to this restaurant with our kids, but would probably try it again for a 'date night,' and order a different meal. The menu is quite creative and the flavors unusual, so it's worth another shot. However, I agree with one reviewer who said the word 'pub' doesn't belong in the name of this restaurant. The atmosphere and prices are definitely not what one would expect in a pub.

Gotta love this place. Real servers with real personalities and typically good, quality food. A few times the food has fallen a little short, other times it has shined. I would like to see the menu changed some. It is a bit odd, seems like there is a little of this and a little of that but nothing to write home about. Except the fries, they are damn good.
The atmosphere is homey, yet it feels cramped and they have many tables in what used to be a foyer, or porch, or something. It is cold out there and a bit uncomfortable--consider a remodel!
Otherwise I love the character of the place and the welcoming feel you get here.

If it were permitted, I'd probably give this place a 2.5... or even almost a 3. But I don't agree with the "a-ok" associated with a 3.

All my friends love this place. They rave about it. They go weekly... at least. Maybe you'll love it too. The atmosphere isn't bad, especially for Eugene. They source their food well. They have a good beer list. But then again, it's hard to find a place in Eugene that doesn't have a good beer list. We like our beer in this part of the world, and we like it fancypants.

That said, I've been twice now, and I'm just not that excited.

The first time I was here, I got the Reuben. It was slapped together haphazardly with the meat in a pile in the center, and there was only a suggestion of dressing on the bread. The sauerkraut was very mild, bland even. My husband got the ceasar salad with breaded chicken cutlets. It was ok, but again, a bit bland, and the chicken was dry. He's not a major cook... he can make maybe a dozen dishes well on a casual scale at home. But he makes far better, moist, flavorful breaded chicken (with equally high-quality ingredients as used at The HB... no msg or any crap that might add "flavor" in a cheating sort of way.)

It was fairly busy that night though, and our friends seemed to enjoy their food, so we figured it was just a fluke. That's why we went back again to give them a second chance. And again, we weren't so impressed. It was ok, and I still appreciate the ingredients, and that this attention to local food and sustainability does drive the price up a bit. But I would still hope that after getting super high quality beef and such, that they would take the time to cook it well, so it wasn't a waste of the quality.

This time, I had the burger with cheddar cheese. Dry dry dry. The fries were a nice big portion and well done though.  My husband had the meatloaf sandwich. The soup that accompanied it was... well, it was forgettable, as he really doesn't have much to report about it now. And the meatloaf slice itself was a bit slim. Now, I'm not saying that he didn't get enough food, but, when we think "meatloaf sandwich" we think, a thick, juicy slice of meatloaf. This slice was big enough to fit on a large hamburger bun, but thin and sort of lean (fat content). So, the volume was fine, but the dimensions were off... and it seems that this had an effect on how it cooked up too. It didn't have the browned, juicy look of a hearty slice of meatloaf. It looked... maybe like a meatloaf your mother made in the 80s while trying out a bad diet cookbook.

I wish I could say I won't be back, but give me another year and I might grow tired of the same old same old of Eugene and give it one last chance.

The Humble Beagle has a pretty good thing going on.

The whole place is relaxed yet classy. The couch and chair set up in the corner looks like an easy spot to get situated and drink some beer and snack on cheap appetizers during happy hour.

The food is pretty good. I actually thought the pita sandwich with lamb meatballs was dynamite, but the mac and cheese was pretty forgettable. Paying the extra money to throw some bacon and bleu on the macaroni would probably be money well spent. The lamb dish I had was a garlic haters worst nightmare. I was subsequently slaying vampires with my breath for the next 12 hours after visiting Humble Beagle. I say that as a good thing, because I love garlic like Puff Daddy loves changing his name every album drop.

I think every female customer last Friday when I was there was pregnant or had a kid. I'm just hoping my girlfriend didn't catch anything.

Free bread results in an immediately happy hungry diner. I was immediately happy when the bread basket came.

After reading the reviews and for a chance to visit a much needed different dinning spot from my regular haunts, I was jazzed to try this place and was in an optimistic state when I left the house.  I wanted to love this place, I really did; but I don't.  When my favorite dinner companion and I walked in, the place was fairly empty (6:20pm on a Thursday) which was good.  Having paid attention to others reviews, we steered clear of the entry way seating and headed for the couch; D'oh, it was taken. We settled ourselves at a table for two next to the fireplace (and the entryway to the kitchen-but it was a non issue, don't let the close proximity of the kitchen deter you from this area) and were greeted by a very friendly waitress.  She brought menus and stated the beers on tap were written on the chalk board above the fireplace and said, "feel free to sample any drinks you' re not familiar with, just ask."  So, finding the only Ninkasi was Sleigh'r, not my beloved Total Dom, I looked for something new.  Cider.....hmmm, pear cider; could be good, could be scary, I asked for a sample.  The waitress came back with a bread basket, water, my partner's beer and a third of a shot glass full of the pear cider.  For anyone who drinks microbrews and ciders, YOU KNOW you need more than one sip to get a feel for the brew, so having had one baby sip, I decided it was a horrible, vinegar-y nightmare that should have landed the maker in brew hell.

When the waitress came back a few minutes later, she said, "well?"  I grimaced and said, "Man, I am glad I got to try that before ordering! Ew."  She smiled, said "ok" took the shot glass and walked away.  As I was pondering the chalk board trying to settle on a beverage, she returned with a 16 ounce glass of pear cider.  I am not sure how a sour face and the word "ew" translated to "please bring a glass of that, thank you" but somehow it did.  My dining partner just laughed.  He ordered the ruben and I ordered the lamb pita, cause ya'll said to.  The food arrived quickly, and was good.  The ruben was not what you would think a ruben would be, but my partner ate it, I will leave him to review his experience.  The previous reviewer who ordered the pita to go and had just a few fries....yeah, I hear ya.  Don't get me wrong, there's good food on the lamb pita plate, but I counted, there were ten fries on my plate, which sucked, cause they were so good.  Garlic fry redemption from Dickie Joe's can be found here, they're really good.  My partner had a veritable mountain of fries with his ruben, something surely went awry with my plate, but it was served that way, so maybe teaser fries with your pita is how they roll.  The hummus was lovely, the lamb meatballs were killer and the jury is still out on the pickled cabbage, coleslaw stuff. I am even gonna' say it, the cider went really well with the pita.  The first few sips had to be choked down but the garlic yogurt and the hummus and the slaw stuff washed down with cider, worked.
For the good stuff...the food: it's fresh; no sysco here.  The place is quaint and the waitress was nice-never saw or met Ari.

For the bad stuff: portion for price: call me crazy, but a pita cut in half, two tablespoons of hummus, four gumball sized lamb balls, ten fries and a quarter cup of yogurt and an equal amount of cabbage should not cost thirteen dollars in an establishment with the word "pub" in its name and chairs that don't have cushions, with dish towels as napkins and seating so close you can hear the conversation from the (complete moron) customer at the next table-not really the establishment's fault that the guy with the crutches on the couch was a total bloomin' idiot, and we were subjected to his rants, but a good example of the acoustics, and if the place were busy, I can imagine it would be too noisy.  I get the whole earthy crunchy, minimalist thing, but prices shouldn't be what you would pay at the Waldorf Astoria.  It was ok, not abysmal, but I won't be trippin over myself to go back.  Damn, now I want escargot from the Waldorf.....

Oh, bread.  I think the bakery may get a visit from us, soon.  The bread was soft and fresh, and the shortbread tea cookie things that came with the check were really good.

I recant, the cider brewer gets a pass from hell; after having a glass, it wasn't so bad.

Update to Anni K. of the Humble Beagle Pub:
I guess I forgot to mention I am a big ole foodie...American, Mexican, Mediterranean, Cuban, Italian, etc. in my book, it's all good! I like to think I have a clue about how to please my palate. I get the intention of the garlic fries; I have had my fair share of Gyros and spanakopita.  I know they were intended to go IN the pita, but considering there were so few I felt the need to eat them individually in order to savor the flavor and get all I could out of them; potatoes (even organic ones) are not so cost prohibitive you can't put a "side" with a pita for $13.00.

Around 5 or so on a Friday night, we were seated immediately. Service was quick and friendly. I had a seasonal ale and it was seriously awesome. We started with the garlic fries, which were fresh and tasty. I heard a waiter telling someone that everything is made in house at this place, even the beers. That's awesome. We could tell. My sister wasn't the biggest fan of her reuben but it was made with pastrami and that might've been part of the problem. The burger was standard. I had the pepperoni pizza and it was really tasty--I liked the wheat dough crust but I felt like it should've been mentioned on the menu.

Parking was kind of annoying. There is only a small lot that this place shares with a convenience store. About 3/4 of the spots are for compact cars only. Nightmare.

Oh, and they give you these tiny bites of deliciousness with your check! He said they were mini shortbread cookies but they tasted like mini snickerdoodles--AKA my total dream.

Passing through Eugene, we looked for a place to taste local beers and have interesting food. This stop was an absolute delight. A find. We'll be making this our regular stop when traveling through. Beer selection was good, proprietor well informed and helpful. The food was creative and delicious. Salmon pizza was great.

The food and beer was perfect, but the friendly proprietor made the visit memorable.

I enjoy the humble beagle. I'm not much of a foodie so I'm less concerned with "exploring taste" and more concerned with having a tasty meal with good portions.

The nachos here are excellent and hugely sized. The macaroni and cheese with bacon is also high on my list of favorites.

Organic well thought out food, very good too!  Wednesday is burger and brew night for 9 dollars.  If that seems expensive, reflect how much grass fed beef and craft brew would cost you at HOME .  It really is a great neighborhood pub the owners are here every night which lends a sweetness that you can't get elsewhere.  Food is very good, but if you're use to Olive Garden go there... 'cause this ain't it.

Came here for dinner after a show at the Hult Center. Great Food, Atmosphere, and service.  Mind you. We are a family of 4 (7 year old and 3 year old) and met another family of 5 (7, 4, and 2 year olds).  Family friendly. Had an excellent burger with blue cheese and awesome garlic fries. Salads looked amazing and HUGE! Ari's from the Bronx. Had I known that before ordering, I would have gotten the Reuben. Looking forward to the next chance. Mac N Cheese was a hit with my son. Nice local neighborhood joint.

Perfect little neighborhood weekday restaurant tucked away in a little corner of South Eugene.

The vibe immediately resembles a community oriented quality establishment.  Containing only 10 tables or so, it's very intimate and cozy.

Local brew and wine selections written daily on the blackboards above the tiny fireplace.

What impressed me the most was one of the owners coming up personally and explaining the wine list and then later explaining the espresso offerings.

Highly recommended coming here with a eating partner and savoring the local drinks and food.

When I went in tonight with 13 people, not only were we seated immediately, but the service was the best I'd ever had. The food was rich and wonderful, and it even came out quickly. Hands down, this was the best dining experience I've had in Eugene in a long time.

Very pleased to discover Humble Beagle!
Locally and sustainably sourced ingredients, comfort food and  middle eastern fair.  The shuk sandwhich was interesting, the seafood stew delicious, and I've heard the burgers and pizza are great.
The owners are very sweet, and I'm happy to support this place!

My favorite neighborhood pub! Love love love the food. It is all very good. Has a middle eastern flair and is always fresh. There is a good selection of beers on tap. Also the food is very reasonably priced. Good sized portions. Highly recommend the mac and cheese, amongst other wonderful dishes.

Friendly service, local and humanely grown food, reasonably priced, yummy. Good place to go after a Duck football game or other occasions.

I have loved the Humble Bagel for 20+ years and was excited to hear their daughter Anni was opening up her own place inside the same building. The name "Humble Beagle Pub" struck me as a little too cute of a play on words for it's own good but who am I to say.

What I can say though, is that the food is really frickin' good. The burger is up there with the best in the city (Cornucopia, Marche, 6th St Grill), thick, juicy and well seasoned. Pizza was dense and a bit heavy on the cheese but that's hardly a complaint. The real standout was the lightly battered seasonal veggies that reminded me of Indian pakoras but with more of the fresh flavors coming through instead of the batter.

Oh yeah, they serve beer here in regular 16oz or the more meal worthy 22oz. The tap handles are local aka Ninkasi and Oakshire with at least one other patron recommended choice that rotates.

Sourcing local foods seems high on the priority list here and I always appreciate that in Eugene, the land of plenty (foodwise that is).

I had such a great time at this pub a month ago that I can't wait to get back.  The food was all fresh and excellent.  The service was good too.  The beers on tap were interesting.  It's a little loud, but this adds to the atmosphere.

It was late (like 10:30) and we needed dinner.  We used Yelp to find open businesses (a challenge in Eugene) and were reminded that Humble Beagle had opened recently.  Ari makes you feel at home, even when you arrive for dinner just as the kitchen is about to close.
The walls feature artful photos of the locally sourced produce, meat and seafood. Great selection of beers and some really unique and tasty food make me hope this place becomes a local mainstay.

(If they softened the decor, perhaps with padded benches for the tables wrapping the west wall, it'd be perfect!)

My wife, a friend and I just got back from eating at the Humble Beagle and we loved it. We're in town from Southern California for a family wedding this week, and we've been trying to find some great Eugene spots to eat. We've discovered some unexpectedly wonderful places, and the Humble Beagle was one of them. Here are some impressions:

This place had a clean, comfortable and inviting vibe. The food we ate was excellent. Beer-battered local seasonal vegetables were lightly fried (just enough-not too much) and included very good dill sauce. The hummus plate came out with warm, fresh pita and hard-boiled egg; the hummus itself was well-made. Finally the melt-in-your-mouth blue-cheese burger included some incredible garlic fries; among the best I've ever had. They had a good looking beer menu, including a number of rotating brews on tap and lots of bottles, and a variety of wines.

The service was as good as the food. We really enjoyed talking to the couple that runs this place. If we didn't have somewhere to go, we could have stayed all night, and if we lived in Eugene, we'd surely become regulars. As it is, we have a place to always look forward to eating when we visit family.
