Great experience at jtaps!! The food is amazing and the atmosphere is extremely comfortable and friendly. If you are looking for a place to watch the games, drink cheap buckets, and eat some awesome food this is the place to go! The waitresses are very nice, personable, and fun. This is a great sports bar on the Westside that is very enjoyable with great food and service! I recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a sports bar on this side of town!!

I just moved to the West side of Cincinnati in May, and was really looking for a place to watch sports games that was more enjoyable than most chain restaurants. We stumbled upon J Taps looking for a place with a patio. We consider ourselves regulars here now, and love this establishment.

Positives:
Their deals are incredible. They always have deals on buckets, and on Thursdays they have 1$ drafts which is always fun.

Their live music on Saturday night is wonderful, and they play a lot of classic rock songs.

Karaoke on Fridays by Ms. Karen is SO fun! She's a wonderful woman and very nice!!

Their waitresses are very nice. I have never been in there and had bad service.

Their wings are relatively large in size, and their sauces are very good. In fact we have never had a bad dish since we've been there. Also their loaded waffle fries are incredible.

Their patio is large and spacious.

Negatives:
On Friday and Saturday evenings it gets pretty crowded for the games. If you prefer a quiet setting- this isn't the place for you.

Other than that there's really no other negative comments I have. We LOVE this place and will be going back many many times!

Decent bar with a lot of room and a good parking lot. The night I went, there was trivia and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. Our server was super on top of things and almost asked me too many times if I wanted another beer. I had one Leinenkugel Fireside Nut Brown ($4.50) http://leinie.com/firesi… and found it to be a decent beer for trivia night. We missed first place by one point! Oh well better luck next time.

In the corner, there is a really interesting breathalyzer thing called an Alco-Buddy. I saw one guy trying it out and thought it was funny. There are some other video games and (what has become a trend in the area) a punching machine. There are Tv's everywhere! If you can't see the game, you probably have your eyes closed.

I've been here on other nights and it can get really packed and filled with 20 and 30 somethings having a good time, if that's not your scene, at least I've given you a heads up.

A little history: among other things, this location used to be a Pizza Hut, which might explain the separate enter and exit doors. It later became Donna V's and then J Taps.

I like this place for happy hour. A group of us often goes there on a Friday early afternoon. At that time, the place is generally empty and you get great service, cheapish drinks and good bar food. It does bother me that there is usually at least one or two families there. I am not a big fan of the west side tradition of bringing your family to a bar.

After a movie one Saturday evening, a friend and I were looking for a place to sit and chat. I suggested J-Taps with the memories of nice casual Friday afternoons there. BAD DECISION! This is apparently the Arnie's of the West Side on Saturday night.

There was a DJ playing music to earsplitting level. People were actually (drunkenly) dancing on the "dance floor." The bar was 3 people deep and the bartenders were in no hurry to serve.

The average age of the clientele was about 20, which is strange since they all had drinks in hand. This is a big claim to make, but unfortunately I knew some of the 20 year olds who were doing the drinking. Either they had fakes of the bar doesn't check IDs.

If you are in the mood for a early 20-something party, head here on the weekend. If you are looking for a casual drink and snack, head here on an afternoon.

Known portal to hell. Every awful human I went to high school with is a regular here. I hope it burns down in a kitchen fire.

Epic Fail. To be forthright, we never actually ate their, so the food could very well be gourmet quality and then some.

Now perhaps it was due to the NCAA tournament being broadcast, or perhaps due to UC playing in the NCAA tournament, but I chalk it up to utter incompetence. My friend and I finally found a table, and took seats, but it took around 10 minutes for the previous inhabitants food and drinks to be bussed from the table. Another 15 minutes expired before it was wiped down! After another 30-40 minutes expired before even having our orders taken, we decided to leave. It appeared that they decided that only two servers were sufficient for a UC game night during the NCAA tournament! What's worse, is our "waitress" often hung around two tables with college age people flirting and chatting away for 5-10 minute spurts. Seriously understaffed, seriously underwhelmed, and seriously a waste of time. Instead we left, drove 15 minutes to Quaker Steak, waiting 5 minutes for a table, and another 5 minutes for food. Pathetic failure on the part of J Taps.

This place is a neighborhood bar and grill that is all of 5 minutes from my house, and I honestly wish that there had been SOME semblance of service in order to give it another shot. Unfortunately at this point I can't give a chance to something run so poorly, nor could I ever recommenced wasting your time.

It took me a few visits, but now I can say I'm a fan! I love me some JTaps Westside lovin! Awesome Greek dip, gyro salad, and great mix of healthy and junk food yummies! I mean seriously what kind of sports bar serves grilled tilapia and salmon!! Great visual package, cheap beers for game time, and the owners rock!

Pete runs a great place! Love the Greek dishes in addition to healthy choices along side bar food favorites. Tvs are plentiful so great place to catch a game!

Great place to catch a game or throw some darts. Cheap beer and a young crowd on Thursday nights make this a great spot for bored college kids. Not to mention the dedicated flippy cup table!

This past weekend I celebrated the beginning moments of my bday here....while I was visiting from Chicago. By far it was one of the better decisions I made this weekend. My cousin took me here after we went to a comedy club so we could continue on our path of inebriation. What a great idea. Since we didn't eat dinner I was starved....had a drink and immediately looked at the menu. Typical sports bar cuisine and some of the finest menu items were present. I have a problem - I love wings but I am picky. Back home I have my favorite spot and then your average Hooters so it is hard for me to try wings else where because there is no comparison. OH, that changed saturday night when I ate wings at JTAPs...they have to be the best wings I have had and I have now placed them on my tops wings list...and that is not because I was drunk or starving. I just love wings....SAD REALLY. I also had the Greek Fries - bless their heart for putting that on the menu. Comfortable atmosphere filled with locals, and you did not need to stand in line, dress up or squeeze pass someone to find a place to sit down. I have already told my cousin that when I come back to visit we will go back there....
PS the owner is extremely friendly and not bad on the eyes.

I happened to be all the way out in Western Hills area today and decided on J Taps Bar & Grill for lunch. J Taps is your typical sports bar with mostly high top seating and it is decked out in the standard Bengals, Reds, Bearcats, and Buckeyes signs, flags, and pictures. I was surprised to see it pretty empty (there were four other people when my friend and I got there, two when we left), but I imagine it gets pretty crowded later in the day with happy hour, daily specials, and all the games and UFC fights on TV. They have 12-15 medium and large televisions and surround sound, and while they will have all the football games playing this fall with their Sunday NFL Ticket package, I don't expect there to be many people there not wearing orange and black and chanting "Who Dey!"

The J Taps menu isn't all that big, but there are plenty of options from appetizers, wings, and salads, to sandwiches, burgers, and their (apparently) well-known Grilled Salmon (and three other fish dishes). I went with the Grilled Chicken Gyro for $4.99, and that was really good. Plus, it came with very good--albeit a bit greasy--Saratoga chips, unlike many restaurants that now serve off-brand Ruffles-like potato chips that aren't too enjoyable. They also offer steak, Greek, Cajun, and Waffle Fries on the side ($2.25-$2.99 extra). My friend ordered a $6.99 Turkey Club which looked pretty decent, not to mention it was huge. The service was fairly good, although there was only one other table to wait on. It wasn't the quickest, but the waitress was very nice and did a pretty good job.

J Taps often plays host to live music, while I also noticed a 21st century jukebox near the front door, which apparently plays 2,000 songs. I also noticed a few arcade-like games and a dart machine (as opposed to the standard dart board). Monday is 30-cent wings all day, while the rest of the workweek consists of a Ladies Night/well drink special on Tuesday, pitcher specials on Wednesday, College Night/draft special on Thursday, and a 3:00-8:00 happy hour on Friday (3-7 Monday through Thursday).

J Taps Bar & Grill isn't by any means the best restaurant I have been to, but I did think it was pretty good and worth trying if you are in the Cheviot/Westwood area. They are open late seven nights a week and offer all the specials and have all the games on, so it's definitely something you might consider at night or on Sundays during the football season.
