I feel like I have to give a more positive spin on this place than the previous reviews considering I have become a regular at this place since it opened back in March.

Yes, it is your standard West Side sports bar, so if you are looking for hip and trendy this isn't going to be it for you...Also expect that there will be games on, but it seems like the sound issue mentioned before has resolved itself.

As with all Cheviot bars, drink prices are decent- maybe not as strong as some of the smaller bars in the area though.  Service (bartenders and waitresses) is always good, which may be because I generally come here during the off times.

Their back patio is a great place to hang, whether there are games going on or not.  The inside feels way, way, way to big for the crowd.  The middle and right hand sections are often empty and makes the bar feel like a ghost town when you go in.  But, make a left and find the crowd, inside and out.  The bar is bright and clean, which is a huge improvement over what it used to be like!

The food is surprisingly good and incredibly cheap!!!! As regulars, we have found that our favorite thing on the menu is something that isn't on the menu at all.  They have a Cajun Burger that comes with seasoning, jalapenos, and Swiss cheese.  We always ask them to substitute out the burger for a chicken breast and add honey mustard and they are always happy to do it with no additional charge.  Their sweet potato waffle fries are some of the best around!  I have tried their regular fries and have found them pretty soggy.

So, if you are in the are and want to catch a quick bite and the game definitely try this place out!

This is your typical Cheviot bar with a fresh coat of paint. The staff is new but the owners of the bar are the same. For those of you that don't know, this used to be the Cheviot Sports Bar, which was basically a rundown sports bar slash trashy night club. Those days are now over and the newly updated bar is clean and focused on the sports bar scene only. They added a new sand volleyball court in the back with a grass area to hangout. Monday-Friday and Sundays they offer $1 beers from 4 to 7. The beer selection could use some work but it's the West-side and the beer of choice for most is Bud Light and Miller Light so don't expect to get your favorite local beers. The food is typical bar food but the chicken quesadilla I had was quite tasty. I would recommend it to other who are hunger and have had a few beers.  This is a great bar for groups but I don't recommend it for those looking to meet other single people in the area.

Oh, Game Time. Oh, west side establishments. Oh, bars. I struggle with all of you. I'm exposing my biases up front so read this with that in mind.

I really, really hated this place when it was the Cheviot Sports Tavern. It was crowded, rowdy, unruly, hillbilly, and just 'not my scene'. If you liked it, you probably had good memories here. Me...not so much.

Now that it's Game Time, I think there is some potential for it to take on a new vibe, though I recently learned it's the same owner, just a different name? If this is true, that's concerning, but not damning. I don't think it was the ownership I ever had a problem with, but the clientele that I wasn't digging, and it's yet to see how that might change. Anyhow...

I was here on the inaugural sand volleyball Sunday a week ago. The bar was dead. The floors looked new and there may have been a new coat of paint or two, but generally, I stayed outside, and things looked as they always had- cornhole, pool, and maybe some game stations to keep patrons busy. There are three sections, not sure if they're different, but that's largely the same too.

Onto the outside....the court looks nice, if a bit lacking in foresight without nets all around and some concrete pavers that are begging to crack and head or split a leg or arm over. I didn't play, mind you, just watched...but as bar leagues go it was a mixed bag of skill and talent. The ball flying every which way and staff members chasing it, corresponded with skill...but that's largely the case. The refs said nothing, which isn't a great sign, but it was the first week. If they want this to work, it's got to be a LITTLE more involved, right? I sure hope so.

While watching I had a chicken quesadilla which was pleasantly tasty. The staff seemed nice, if a bit bored, by low numbers. The menu is less snacky and more meal oriented, which is probably fine, but left me a little disappointed as I really didn't want to 'eat' there...just needed a bite. Quesadilla worked but at $7 felt a little pricey.

I'll be back every Sunday for a while and keep my eye on the place-update as necessary.

Good riddance to the nasty Sports Tavern, let's see if this version is any more charming. Here's to hoping!
