I'm surprised by the negative comments I have read thus far. Â I went today with my hubby, and we had a very nice time. Â OK, the decor is not the best, and it looks like they have an identity crisis, but the service and the food were great. Â We had never had a fireball before and were looking forward to giving it a try. Â The server recommended the Freaky Fireballs, which are covered with coleslaw, fries, hot sauce and cheese, wow, they were great!! Â For dessert we shared the cookie monster, super good. Â Our server was friendly, and helpful, we never felt as if we were not being taken care of. Â We will be back to try more fireballs!
Review Source:Was with wife and 5 yr old daughter, and a huge group of friends, and we decided to all go to dinner. Â Nobody else could seat us, but when we called Jed's and asked how long for a table for 17, they said "Now!" Â Perfect!
For most of us, it was our first time to Jed's. Â Nice inside with tons of projectors and TVs, all with sports on. Â Nice setup! Â
Service was very good, especially for a last minute table of 17. Â We were loud and obnoxious, and they handled us great! Â
By far the highlight of the food were all of the appetizers. Â Between everybody we had, pretty sure somebody bought at least one of every app. Â The fried mashed potatoes were awesome, especially in the butter sauce. Â The deep fried pickles were probably the best I've every had. Â The fried broccoli & cheese pieces were amazing! Â
The entrees weren't great.  I got the original medium  fireballs - they were just 'ok'.  I would rather get boneless wings from BW3s.  After asking everybody at the table, a few people ordered the "Hangover Balls", and they LOVED them. Â
Not the "cleanest" place in the world, but not too bad. Â Great apps, good service, nice TV setup. Â Good place to hang out with friends!
Cajun sauce is super sweet, more like a hot sweet BBQ sauce, gross. Friend liked the coney dog but kinda spicy. Â Food was warm not hot. Â Server never came back to check on us until we were done. Â When I questioned whether I really had cajun sauce because it was so sweet, she said ya it was and yea she has heard that complaint before and said she would have taken them back for something else, but I couldn't since she never came back.
Review Source:I have had the pleasure of being at Jed's a few times and I have to say that with each time, it gets better. Â The staff is friendly and the patrons are there to have a great time. Â On Tuesdays, they have a special for their delicious jumbo wings for $4.99 for 10 wings for dine in only. Â This is a great deal with how great the wings are. Â If you haven't been yet, please take the time to check this place out.
Review Source:Overall this was a terrible and disappointing experience. The restaurant was fairly crowded but not packed, it was around 7:30 on a Tuesday, when we arrived, so most of the people there probably had already been served. Our waitress was helpful explaining the menu items, we ordered drinks and our food. After 45 minutes, we finally tracked down our waitress to ask what was going on and she said that the kitchen was backed up, and that this happened all the time. She assured us our food would be right out. At the 1 hour point we tracked her down and said we needed to speak with the manager. Before she came by, the food did finally come out, but everything was cold, likely sitting out for some time. I asked the waitress if she'd let the food sit out and she said no, the kitchen puts them out when they're ready and the waitresses put them right out. At least the manager didn't charge for the majority of the food, which, after we had the waitress take it back to have it warmed up, still wasn't good, fair at best. We would not recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Review Source:I work around the corner, so when there are big games on or something sportsy we want to watch, my coworkers and I end up here. Â I've never eaten the fireballs, mainly cause they look gross, but their burgers and their pork sandwiches are decent. Â Good cottage cheese, good tater tots. Recently, I found out that the fries they top the balls with, barely equal "fries." Â The recipe calls for 6-8 fries apparently, so thats very misleading for those thinking they are getting fries with their meal.
The servers are typically pretty mediocre, slow service, always seem inconvenienced by you. Â But, that might explain why during lunch in a busy area, they have maybe 10 tables full.
also, I ordered 4 types of wings once for a big catering event at my office (I ordered 250 wings) and they put them all in foil pans, and didnt label them. Â So, I get to my office and had to try each sauce and try and figure out which was which, so that was annoying, and has prevented me from ordering them again.
Managers are nice though, and the food is ok. Â We go back, but usually expect to return late to the office since the food is not going to come out quickly. Â Just go in with average expectations and you will be good.
Average lunch with a soda is going to cost you around 10 bucks.
I liked Jed's Fireballs and Brew the first time I visited, and it grows on me a little more with each meal I try.
If you visit at lunchtime on a weekday, be sure that your server provides you with a list of the lunch specials in addition to the regular menu. They have some great deals, including a barbecued pulled pork sandwich that is outstanding!
The atmosphere is pure classic rock and sports bar all the way. It's by no means a "chick" restaurant, but I've dined here alone and sat at the bar several times on my lunch hour, and still had a pleasant experience. The staff is friendly and food is really good.
Some friends took me to this place a couple of weeks ago and I can't believe I've never heard of it! Â It's your typicall sports bar, wings and drinks environment. Â I got a Buffalo WIld Wings and Champs Americana vibe from it.
I don't have a sophisticated palet, so to be able to order broccoli and cheese bites as an appetizer - I was all over it. Â I got the garbage sink or something "garbage" chicken balls. Â I'm not sure why they call them "balls" when they are just chunks of chicken, but whatever, they were delicious.
Now, this is where you'll truly know I'm not a regular, fine diner at Cameron Mitchell or some other pricey restaurant..... when I saw that they had Mello Yellow to drink as part of their Coke line, I thought I was in Heaven...... sir, I'd like some more please.
I'm only giving this one star because no stars was not an option .. My husband and two friends and myself went to Jed's on mill run Saturday Night at around 6:30 . This would have been my first time .. Would have been a key phrase . When I spoke to the two girls at the host station told them 4 of us they told me that it would be a wait but they could not tell me how long , they had a lot of people just drinking and watching the bucks play basketball so we waited for a few and looked over and saw a room full of empty tables .. When we asked why we couldn't sit there they said they didn't have the staff to take care of that section . My husband asked to speak to a manager . A guy came up and talked the the girls then he walked away he asked if that was the manager and she said yes . He was upset she didn't tell the manager a customer wanted to talk to him. So he walked over by the bar where the manager went and asked why we couldn't sit over in that open section. He told my husband that he couldn't allow more than 150-200 people at a time or his kitchen would "crash". He rudely told my husband we could sit over there but it would be way to long for our food to be made. So we left and went to then Mexican restaurant and had a wonderful meal. On our way out about 10 more people left as well
Review Source:After being told of this Toledo-based place opening not too far from home to rave reviews, we decided to check it out after an afternoon of drinking for some greasy bar grub and basketball watching before heading home. The staff was really accomodating about turning a nearby TV to the game we were wanting to watch, and service was quick. However, the food was just meh. Very meh. I know it is what it is, greasy, cheesy, over-the-top piles of bad-for-you food. But I was expecting it to taste a little better than it did. I do think the concept of a plate of boneless wings topped with different-themed toppings is fun, if the execution wasn't too great. I would recommend this place for their large number of TVs for sports-watching,a nd definitely over BW3's, which I really can't stand, but that's about it.
Review Source:We used to eat at Jed's every Wednesday for one things...buy one fireball, get a second half price. Â The food is pretty average if served alone, but when mixed into a giant concoction with homemade sauces it becomes amazing....deep fried chicken wings boneless and breaded, covered in cheeses, slaws, fries, and many other things. Â The thing to try is the freakball followed by any of the others you might like. Â Sweet Baby Janes and Jed's Secret sauce are great sauces to try. Â I've tried some of the other food on the menu and wasn't impressed, especially with the $10 ribs on Wednesday. Â But the fireballs are a thing unto themself...stick with them if you come here and you can't go wrong. Â During the summer they have live music on the patio on Wednesday night.
Review Source:I guess I am just at that age, and weight, where I don't care what I eat ... so long as I had a few healthy things that day I will let myself eat fireballs at Jed's. It is important to eat healthy but good tasting spicy buffalo chicken is awesome. Â Which leads me to tell you about why I have only been to Jed's twice - but I have decided I am not going back to Buffalo Wild Wings ever. I will turn to Jed's for spicy chicken for now on :-) Let me explain using better English. Â I love hot balls which are chicken. Â They far surpass the quality of wings which are still on the bone. Â They don't leave my fingers sticky and saucy. Â They are delicious.
The girls who work here are all seem very nice and cute although that is not what I am there for! But you know, for some readers of this it may be important! Again, considering that the two times I have been here I was with my husband - I didn't feel weird with the beautiful and friendly service :-) Â
So yes, I have found my favorite buffalo wings in Ohio!
Very good beer selection, although the prices are little high for the beer. Â It is very loud and annoying when you are trying to watch one game but they have the sound blaring for another game - just turn the sound off all together. Â Fireballs were tasty but I got the Freak and there were only about 5 or 6 fries included in the dish. Â Overall a good place to watch a football game and the the food is pretty good.
Review Source:Fireballs are boneless chicken balls. Â It doesn't sound all that good to me but they offer a lot of variety. Â Ten years ago I would have loved this place but I am trying to eat healthier and a mess of ingredients on chicken with sauce isn't in my diet plan. Â I love the concept and the fact I can order so many types of food, but the taste was so-so.
I would say it is a good place to sit and watch some sports and you get enough to eat the entire game. Â I was stuffed and couldn't finish my single order. Â My brother and his wife shared a double and barely could finish theirs. Â I ordered the taco Fireball which I don't think I would order again. Â I also tasted the Gyros which were a blend of the fireball and Euro meet. Â These do not go together. Â I also didn't like the Sweet Jalapeno sauce. Â Too sweet and not hot enough. Â I plan to go back if I need a place for an OSU game but i wouldn't be going there unless I had a game to watch.
The fireballs are just boneless wings. There's plenty of tvs showing multiple sporting events. Â The waitresses are dressed in tight t-shirts and short shorts. Â Service is average. Â
We really loved Jeds at first but soon grew tired of their semi-limited menu and lack of healthy options. Â
Check out the daily specials. Â I recommend the Sunday fried chicken special!
We had lunch there Friday. I had the Burger Basket. It comes with 2 burgers, fries, and a drink for $6.99. Can you really beat that for a sit down lunch where someone serves you?? Or server was fast and brought out new sodas without us having to ask. Which is big plus to me! One other reviewer said the tvs were to loud. I've never heard the volume up at lunch time. Maybe it is during dinner or happy hr. I'm sure it was probably game day.. Over all I had a great time having lunch with an old friend and have no complaints.
Review Source:Too, too, too loud. Â
Husband and I went in on a Sunday after church. Â Very few people were there, but it was so loud!! Â They had the t.v.s turned up to an incredible volume. Â It wasn't like there was anybody watching it at the time.
We asked the waitress if there was any place quieter than where she had seated us, so she took us back to another room. Â Hurrah!! Â It was so much quieter.
So, we both ordered an iced tea, which she brought right away, Â and started looking the menu over. Â Then....they turned the t.v. volume up in there. Â (There was one person sitting in a booth in the room, besides us!)
She didn't come back for a very long time...maybe because that room wasn't "officially" opened??? Â Which is understandable. Â However, the t.v. was so loud, my husband and I couldn't even hear each other talk across the table.
We went out to look for the waitress. Â When we found her, we told her they had turned up the volume on the t.v. again, and it was just too loud for us. Â Maybe, we should try a different time?
So, she charged us for two iced teas, of which I had none of and my husband had, oh, one or two sips....$5.00....and we left.
If they had "comped" the iced teas, I might have really come back a different night. Â It probably would be a great experience on a night when the place was full. Â But, really, $5.00 for iced teas that we couldn't drink (maybe they could have offered to put them in "to go" cups), was irksome.
Guess I'm grumpy. Â We ended up eating at Penn Station on Cemetery Road. Â IT was GREAT!!
We will probably try this eventually, but not for quite a while!
Service was great and very friendly. Nice enough looking bar/restaurant.
The food is poor and for what you get really expensive. Â My lunch looked like the chef threw-up chicken chunks on a plate and covered them in a "hot sauce" and jalapenos. Â Plain nasty. Â Even the fries were cold and chewy.. Â Quality is way below a zero. Â The recipes on this menu need to be rethought. Â We saw 4 different dishes the sum of the best parts of each would warrant a 2 stars.
I'm not really impresssed. Â I'm at least glad they stopped calling themselves Jed's BBQ and Brew, because the first time I went there they didn't actually have any BBQ dishes on the menu, aside from BBQ sauce for the "fireballs" (which, as people have mentioned, are just little fried chicken chunks.)
I went the other day to the Mill Run location because a friend wanted cheap food and a chance to watch some football before we went back to work on a project. He got the special of the day, a fried chicken dinner with potatoes, and thought it was good. I got an order of 10 wings (as opposed to the fireballs), and I'm confused why you offer 10 or 20 wing selections on the menu, but if you'd like to get more than one sauce, it has to be ordered in batches of five?
The food was decent and the fact that they have Rogue's Dead Guy ale on tap was nice, but the service went downhill very quickly. Our server seated us and got orders in quickly, but then "forgot" an appetizer order (it finally arrived after the main food did), and when we'd finished our meal and wanted to get our check, the server walked by no less than four times, ignoring us each time, then seated and took orders for three other tables! I finally grabbed another server who was passing by and asked for our checks - and finally our server reappeared saying she'd been "tied up in the back."
Sorry, no, you weren't tied up when you walked past our table, you weren't tied up when you were seating other tables, and you weren't tied up when you took orders for those other tables.
We finally got our checks, we paid, and we left almost 30 minutes after we were actually ready to go.
OK, had to try this place out because it is relatively new and sounded different.  I would say it is a mixed review.  The specialty is a "fireball" which is a lightly breaded chunk of chicken tender.  The were very good.  I got the freak balls which were fireballs covered in cheese, fries and cole slaw.  Extremely filling and very tasty.  The zesty garlic wasn't that zesty, but I got a  side of the hot to kick it up a notch.  I give the fireballs a B+/A-.
The rest of the food didn't get good reviews by the family.  The chili was weak and tasted weird, the grilled cheese was average at  best and the macaroni and cheese was Kraft and it was cold.  Even the tater tots were overcooked and not very good.  (These are all comments direct from the family!!) Â
As far as the rest, the service was good, the beer was cold and it looked exactly like the Damons that was there before except it had cool rock and roll airbrushing on the walls. Â
Overall it was OK and I would go back to watch football and eat some fireballs, but probably not be able to drag the family back there. Â I would go back to BW3 or Roosters before I went here again. Sorry, Chalie
I love this place. Â We tried it because we had a coupon but it impressed me. Â FYI: fireballs are simply chicken breast tenders, deep friend and they resemble a boneless wing or big chicken nugget. Â And I'll tell you, Jed did something right because they are delicious. Â By themselves, in sauce, or as part of a platter (see picture i uploaded), you can't go wrong. Â Platters are $10 across the board and they had some really great beer deals during normal eating hours. Â This Jeds is in an old Damons so the TV setup will be a new favorite for sporting events. Â I'd highly recommend this place. Â
Kids had chicken tenders and pizza for dinner. Â Tenders weren't as good as the fireballs but the pizza was delicious.
I had the chance to visit Jed's Mill Run location frequently over the past summer. This Toledo based restaurant is the only location in Columbus - the Crosswoods/Worthington location is no longer a valid franchisee of the Jed's enterprise.
The location is the former Damon's Sports Bar location - with a huge stadium area for dining and watching 4 big screens, a smaller but rousing bar, a second dining room with fireplace, and a large patio.
For service, I have to say Jed's is tops. The waitresses are friendly and take care of their patrons. They accommodated our large group each week, maybe even bringing in wait staff just for our party of 18 to 25 individuals. Separate checks were handled well. And you never had to wait too long for a refill or for another alcoholic beverage. Â The manager was very present every night.
They have great specials for happy hours and late night (after 10). Food specials, beer specials....they have lots of beers available by bottle and quite a few on tap. They also have full bar cocktails....
The menu itself is impressive to read - typical bar food - wings, burgers, sandwiches, fried pickles, onion rings. They also have "barbq" like shredded pork and ribs. The biggest notable item on the the menu is Jed's fireballs (everyone break out into spontaneous laughter). Yes Jed's specialty is their balls. The balls are really nothing more than a chunk of boneless chicken breast, lightly breaded, fried and tossed in a sauce of your choice (think wings sauce like hot, mild, garlic, etc. They also have some outrageous combinations where they add all sorts of toppings to the balls - like bbq pork, chili, cheese, cheese sauce, hot dogs, only Lord knows how many combinations you can come up with....and just to order balls, it's a joke that gets really old really quick.....
But I must tell you Jed's, although I love everything to this point - I think your food is THE WORST bar food being served in Columbus. I think I could get better bar food at any TGIFridays that may be still open. The food at "bw3" is probably marginally better than what your kitchen puts out. Let's face it - you aren't a barbq joint. Yeah you have ribs and pork bbq - but I've had better pulled pork at the Hilliard Dairy Queen. Your fries are limp. Your cole slaw is devoid of any flavor. Your entree salads look like crap, and they taste like it as well. A friend's salad came out and it looked like it had been salad shooted to DEATH, drenched in tasteless ranch dressing. Your wings are massively oversauced and so greasy - too much breading and saucing. The burgers appear to be unoffensive, and the BALLS - if you eat them with wing sauce and some blue cheese, it's probably the best thing on the menu. But that is not saying much.....
I will go to Jed's to drink. I will avoid eating at Jed's at all costs, unless I have a fried pickle or an onion ring...those appear to be "ok". I wish I knew what the problem was - I really think it's rooted in your recipes...because your food was consistently awful over the 8 week period.
It pains me to give you 2 stars because I love the bar and the bar service....I just think any patron would be better served by eating elsewhere and coming to Jed's to drink. The execution of the menu doesn't cut it.
Service - 4 stars
Atmosphere - 5 stars
Food - ZERO stars
