Went here after having a terrible experience at Prasino down the street. We were salivating at the mouth, we were so hungry. This place not only satisfied our impatience, but our stomachs. Would definitely return to try the other sandwiches. Everyone ordered a burger, but me. I"m glad I ordered a custom veggie sandwich, but definitely want to try their burgers because they looked amazing and my friends said so.
I can't fully enumerate why this is, but when deciding where to take a visiting friend for their first meal after arriving, I choose Jerry's more than almost any other place. Â Maybe it's because it has interesting food and tons of options so everyone's happy, but neither of those explanations seems good enough to cover why it seems to occupy such a strange specific space. Â Still, it works and my guests are usually very happy with their experience.
When there was still a Jerry's location downtown we used to get it delivered to work weekly and I'd split three sandwiches with a friend, so I've tried a vast majority of the hundred or so sandwiches they offer. Â The sheer number of items on this menu can be a bit daunting, but don't you worry little birdies, mama's about to feed you. Â The best sandwich by far is the Luis M, followed distantly but still ahead of the pack by the Edith P and the Diego A, and all three should be ordered on a pretzel bun. Â The Tuna Steak sandwiches are pretty solid as well, but these should be placed on Tuscan bread.
Insider Tip: don't order anything hot for delivery. Â It will arrive soggy. Â I save those for the occasions I actually eat in restaurant (my favorite hot is the Buffalo Chicken). Â The best sides are the Kuke Salad and the Thai noodles, but the beans are also very good.
Hmm... my few times here have been alright/pretty darn good. Â Its not flawless, but it will do. Â Their menu is ridiculously overwhelming. Â I ended up ordering the Cuban sandwich becuase I cracked under the pressure of decision. Â It was fine - the chicken was kind of weird actually, but the rest of it was alright. Â My sides were the grapes and pineapple - which consisted of about 5 grapes and 3.5 pineapple chunks. Â My other side was the homemade chips, which I rationalized were meant to be soggy because they were homemade.. right? Â All of this was just under $15. Â If my review ended here, I would have given it maybe a 2.5 or a 3 on a good day.
BUT... Jerry's Sandwiche's saving grace is that there are tons of fantastic events all the time!! There are constantly local bands and events and DJS and parties here. Â It tends to be a default place, because we always know something pretty fun will be happening here. Â It's a great environmnet, with a great scene. Â Also, their sweet potato fries and cheese curds really are fricken FANTASTIC!
