This review is based on the one dish I tried there. I had the peking meat sauce noodle and it was absolutely awful. The noodles were thick and heavy and mushy, the sauce had no taste other than soy sauce and had way too much zucchini. I hear that the beef noodle soup here is great so I'll have to try that next time and maybe update my review/rating but for now...this place blows.
Review Source:I have been following the beef noodle soup and these wonderful people ever since I discovered them at the Mapo location many years ago. Â Then they were at Lajiao in south Naperville, and are now relocated to the food court in H Mart. Â
The beef soup noodle is the best I've ever had, and my favorite food of all time. Â This place does it best, #1. Â Words cannot describe how divine it is. Â That is why I am nearing my 300th bowl soon. Â It is honestly the best thing I've ever eaten. Â Mmmmm. Â So spicy, rich, and awesome. Â I would love to spend a day with the mastermind behind this concoction and see how it is made. Â I have a culinary background and I am very much infatuated with this type of cuisine. Â The food of Taiwan, Sichuan, and Chengdu are my favorites.
Although I now live out of state, I come back once a month to get my fix. Â The people who run the place are warm and friendly, and incredibly nice. Â You can tell they take pride in their business and their product, and that is something I really respect and admire. Â I wish I could spend a day in the kitchen and see how they do it. Â
They always seem happy to see me and I am always happy to see them. Â The whole experience puts me in a great mood.
The ambiance in the H Mart food court is not the best, it's really brightly lit with harsh flourescent lights, so that is kind of a buzzkill. Â But I love these people and I love that Taiwanese beef soup noodle, and I will loyally follow wherever they go. Â They say they are doing good business here so I am happy for them. Â I am almost at bowl #300.
Jia Jia Cafe is the re-invented Old Peking Restaurant (pre-Mapo era) and Lajiao Asian Bistro & Noodles.  It is situated inside  H-Mart food court.  Still got the best  Beef Noodle Soup in Chicagoland.  For the old faithfuls, the popular Chinese/Taiwanese lunch entrees and noodle selections are all there still.  We always enjoyed the Smoked Duck and Broiled Fish in Hot Sichuan Sauce.  Jia Jia is the daughter's name, while mom, dad & uncle Kuo  (in their late 60's / early 70's) are still going strong after 25+ years.
