I have been here twice in recent days and really enjoy the food, atmosphere and service. Â It's lively and festive inside with a nautical theme that is not too corny. Â
We have enjoyed fried shrimp, fried catfish, shrimp jibarito (A+), frog legs, popcorn shrimp, and crab cake. Â Everything was prepared to order and served piping hot. Â The available assortment of sauces (hot, cocktail, mango-habanero, tartar, and chipotle mayo) were all excellent. Â The mayo is my favorite. Â The crab cake was a little tiny but tasty with an excellent presentation.
Only two issues with me, but they are enough to discourage me from going back. Â First, perhaps I'm being too sensitive, but the ventilation inside is sub-optimal. Â The air is thick with aerosolized cooking/frying oil to the point of being uncomfortable. Â Furthermore, after leaving, we felt like we needed a shower and our clothes needed to be discarded. Â Yuck.
Secondly, each time I've been in there was a seemingly abandoned half-drunken bottle of beer on the eating counter. Â Not a great image, especially if you bring children who want to sit at the counter and watch the chefs. Â I would recommend just clearing the counter periodically. Â No biggie to keep things neat and tidy. Â It is a restaurant after all.
