Cute coffee shop
Really cute coffee shop with plenty of seating inside and outside on the patio. The coffee or tea comes out on a silver tray with water and a cookie, how cute! The coffee is really good, my friend had the chai tea and she really liked hers also. A lot of choices on desserts and pastries, everything we tried was delicious. Service was nice.
Parking caddy corner to Julius is free by the library!
I came in on a Thursday at 9 am and received hands down the WORST service in history!!! This place has sooo much potential to be good IF they had some sort of management. It took 10 minutes for me to get a menu - I had to end up asking for one EVEN after the waitress and I made eye contact several times and saw me calling out for her. Thank you for making me feel like an unwanted patron just because I dined alone. It took 10 minutes to get the coffee, with the rude and in charming waitress. She made the whole dining experience awkward. I wanted a refill and had to again hunt someone down. The eggs Benedict were cold and not worth the $10. I want to love you Julius Meinl, but please work on your management and service. Train your staff!!! You should be embarrassed of the type of establishment you're running in the charming town of Lincoln square. Never again!!!!!!!! Ps you're losing customer loyalty but the horrible staff you have at this location. You're an insult to European cafes and are the most unwelcoming establishment in Chicago. Also, TESS WAS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review Source:I love this cutesy cafe! We came in the middle of a Saturday afternoon and found this place packed. We waited a bit for a table but eventually sat in the back on a tiny table. We ordered the Pikant coffee & black forest mocha. The Pikant coffee was made with pepper and had a great kick to it. Both cups came with a small package of cookie. Even though our server was a bit rushed, we enjoyed our coffee time in the cafe.
Review Source:This place was very busy the Sunday afternoon I came. It's a small place, really, about the size of most Starbucks. But i's not a good place to sit back and relax like at Starbucks, which I prefer. The sandwich I had was the Croque Monsieur  (black forest ham, Emmentaler cheese, Dijon mustard on
brioche). It was about 10 dollars and I only ate a half of the sandwich because it was so big. (Took the rest home). I didn't have anything to drink here.
I prefer a more intimate coffee shop.
I will be honest and say I do not know much about teas. However, I will also say that the black currant I had here was the best. Ever. and I have had a lot of it.
The place is cozy and not as annoying as other (coffee) places. People come here to actually enjoy their drinks and pastries.
Prices are cheap, good selection of drinks and treats, and no gimmickie lingo.

Moving from Seattle to Chicago, I was nervous about my espresso options. Luckily, I was introduced to Julius Meinl and this is now what I use in my espresso machine every morning. Incredibly smooth and rich.
The cafe itself is fun too! The staff is friendly and the food is tasty. I highly recommend you get the Melange when you go!
I don't drink coffee at all, so a place like Julius Meinl is far more appealing to me than a Starbucks. You can do a pot of tea (right - not just a cup) and pretend you are having high tea in Vienna. The little cookie is a nice touch, and you will probably want to order one of the lovely desserts in the display case. Anything chocolate should be excellent! The apple cider is flavorful too. Another classy touch is that they host classical musicians on certain evenings. You will want to slow down and appreciate a bit of down time here. Do it!
Review Source:Read my prior review. Â All those delicious dishes. Â Gone!
As this place spins downward toward closure (my view, not a fact, but this is the way it usually works), they've dropped all the wonderful dishes we loved on the last visit. Â No more banana French toast, no more jam and berries stuffed French toast, no more Kaiserschmarren. Â Now it's a bunch of egg dishes, a bowl of oatmeal, or pastries. Â What a huge disappointment, compared to the delicacies we came to enjoy.
No wonder the hostess is such a rude bitch. Â She's probably more focused on finding her next job. Â Mid-morning on a Sunday the place was 2/3 empty.
Such a disappointment - we loved the food, coffee, and atmosphere previously.
Great, cozy spot to grab some coffee with a friend. It definitely reminded me of a European coffee shop and I will absolutely be back! The coffee is simply delicious and my friend had a pumpkin spice latte that she really enjoyed.
We also both ordered the eggs with smoked salmon and dill crème fraîche. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the smoked salmon was very tasty. The toast and preserves that came on the side were much better than the average toast and a welcome addition. My only complaint is that the serving size was incredibly small for $10 eggs. Like real, real small. Like you should eat before ordering these eggs if you're really hungry. Besides that, very pleasant experience - awesome alternative to the typical Starbucks coffee date.
A delightful coffee shop experience. I like the way Viennese people do things. Julius Meinl makes me feel so calm, quaint, and refined. My check-ins inspire instant envy in my friends from Hong Kong. They are astounded by the fact that we have MULTIPLE Meinls in Chicago, while the rest of the US lays barren. Best city ever? I think so!
This is a coffee shop where you are seated. There is a leather binder that contains no women, but instead, delicious food and drink menus. When you order your drink, and I highly encourage you to sit here, relax, and have your drink here, it comes served on a cute little silver platter with a glass of water, spoon, and a tiny cookie. All the drinks that I'd had are fabulous - teas, iced teas, lattes, hot chocolate. The dessert case is a thing of beauty and sugar. The staff are an absolute delight. Plus, one time, they had bacon cinnamon rolls.
You won't find a cheaper trip to Vienna anywhere else.
Oh Julius Meinl, dear friend, you could be a five star Yelp but if not for your dreary interior and less than enthusiastic help. We laughed, because we left Cafe Selmarie and it was packed in the coffee/pastry part as well as the restaurant, and we drove by you and you were open, but nearlyempty. Saturday night, what a shame.
We were actually coming to see you, Jules, but then I was able to unexpectedly grab a primo parking spot right outside Selmarie. You became a mere memory.
The thing I dislike most is that your restaurant is a very sterile environment (and I don't mean clean) concerning the wait staff. They are nice and can be friendly in their way, but they are robotic. Why am I waiting for my desert while it is sitting there waiting for you to bring it to me while my coffee is getting cold.
There are three of you standing around and doing nothing. You would do better to get rid of the waiters and increase the counterstaff and let us bring our own food to the table. I had to get up anyway to ask you to bring me my desert the last time we were there- I should get the tip, not you! You are only bringing one serving of coffee and I could easily handle that by myself and skip the fancy platter and biscuit.
We love your coffee and we love your deserts, but if I'm going to pay you to be my server- serve!
You might also want to tell the parents with the screaming children running around unattended that they are bother to other dinners and it is a safety hazard for the kiddies when you are carrying hot liquids. I'm sure if you are sued by some nut not watching their child, you will care then.
Taste of Heaven has a wonderful sign saying something like= Unattended children will be fed an espresso and sent home with a puppy. Funny, but to the POINT.
We've seen plenty of people with young kids acting like ladies and gentlemen. I always go out of my way to compliment those folk because they are obviously concerned with raising considerate human beings. People will understand if you are nice when you tell them and explain it is for the safety of their child. If they don't, well you'll need to pick and choose the customer's you are angling for and take what you get.
i love the shop itself. it's spacious and well decorated. really gives me the sense that im in europe. Â the staff were uber friendly!! i ordered the ham quiche. SO YUM. Â my cousin got the apple strudle, just as delicious. Â i dont even drink coffee, but ill go back. Â the staff is nicer than any other coffee shop ive been to. ill be there again!
Review Source:Addicted! Â I was a devoted Intelligentsia fan, but I have converted to Julius Meinl. Â Not only is their coffee superb, but their menu is surprisingly delicious! It is the best oatmeal I've EVER had. Â The biscotti is delicious, but be careful...along with their croissants it will spoil your palate. Â A friend of mine went to Austria on vacation, the first thing this girl said was "Did you go to Julius Meinl?" Ha Ha! He excitedly responded "Yes!" So Austria is on by bucket list...to see Mozart of course ;-)
Review Source:Too bad that we couldnt take advantage of the outdoor seating at Julius in Lincoln Square when I went - too hot. Next time. But i quickly forgot once I had the baked eggs here. Yum. Â Have a about 10 diff kinds to choose from including Austrian favorites like potato pancakes, crapes, and these cinnamon flat pancakes that I can't pronounce.
All good. Â Good Svc too. Check this place out.
Sehr Gut, meine Damen und Herren! (No, I'm not talking about the nearby street, beautiful ladies).
My first time at this location, just for coffee. I've been to Vienna, and I love the silver tray and class of water that comes with a well-crafted cappuccino. Â
Minus one star for the slow service. No Autobahn when they're serving a big table next to me. Hard to get the check. Maybe the waitstaff needs to drink a little more of the delicious espresso.
Added one star because I liked the espresso enough to grab a reasonably-priced bag.
I found this place once I yelped brunch places in the area that I was in. I was pretty glad my friend and I decided to try it! I ordered the latte macchiato and the baked eggs w/ chedderwurst, while my friend ordered a tea and rosti baked egg. We both enjoyed our meals and especially loved the presentation! Even though, I didn't try any of the baked goods...they looked delicious as well . I would def. come back if I was in the area.
Review Source:Fat stupid parents are not entitled to bring disruptive children into any public place, let alone a coffee shop like Meinl.  You do not bring a loud 1-year-old in to a nice coffee house or restaurant for two hours and let them scream.  Even worse, you and your pig girlfriends don't  trash the table and leave debris all over the place -- in the process disgusting other patrons and showing contempt for the employees.  To top it off, these types of "guests" spend hardly any money and tip less.
DO THAT AT HOME OR IN THE CORNER OF A PARK !!! Â Coffee shops are public places for well-behaved people of all ages. Â Some parents who come to Meinl do a great job at teaching their kids how to behave, and it's adorable. Â Some have the common sense not to bring a very small, naturally unpredictable child there at all.
There's room for liveliness and quirkiness, but keep the entitled, ignorant cows and their offspring on the farm. Â
A note to local Meinl management: Â Empower your personnel and restrict this behavior. Â It will be a case of addition by subtraction. Â You will make much more money from guests who appreciate the environment -- and who spend more and tip 20 percent or better for good service.
ALSO, the quality of the filter coffee has slipped depending on who makes it. Â Meinl coffee varieties should be distinct and are shades of dark brown -- not too dense or smoky black. Â We already have thousands of Starbucks.
This wasn't the vision when a couple of local guys worked with Meinl in Vienna, then brought an Americanized version of the brand here. Â I think I'm going to visit the lower-level Weinbar or exclusive upstairs restaurant at Meinl am Graben and behave the way too many customers do here in Chicago.
KEINE STROLLER-MOMMIE SCHLAMPEN BEI MEINL,SONST IST MEINL SCHLAMPIG !!!!
There are so many things I love about JM, & come often for dinner & coffee with a friend, but always during the week. Â We decided to go for brunch on Father's Day, which was a huge mistake. Â We asked to sit outside, & the hostess said she'd have to go outside & check. Â She did, came back & escorted us to the patio, to a a table with no chairs at it. Â So my brother, dad & I just stood around the table while she went & got chairs. Â She maybe should have done that before taking us back there? Â Then she only scrounged up 2, so someone else brought one from inside.
We sat with our menus for about 15 minutes & no one, not one of the THREE different waiters that walked by, NOR the two busboys, acknowledged us. Â Finally I flagged down one of the servers & asked him if he knew if we had one. Â He said yes, apologized, & said he would at least take our drink orders. Â We gave him the orders, then he asked us if we were ready to order the food. Â So I don't know if he was being nice or if he was always supposed to be our waiter, or if he "stole" us from our missing waiter. Â At any rate, we ordered. Â The guy at the table next to us then flagged down our same waiter & told him he had ordered a cappuccino, three times, from three different people, over the last 20 minutes, & never gotten it. Â Guess it wasn't just us.
The food actually showed up correct & all together. Â Then the plates were cleared...& we sat there. Â And sat. Â For maybe 15 minutes? Â In this time, I saw another waitress show up & come in & out, making a total of FOUR, yet there still seemed to be confusion at the tables around us. Â Finally I flagged down our waiter & asked for our check. Â We got it relatively quickly, but as I suspected, it took a long time for him to come back out for it - maybe 10 minutes? Â Finally I think the busboy took it. Â
It's so disappointing because while their food is great, the service was so terrible that I won't go back if there's even a chance it's going to be busy, & definitely not for an occasion, such as Father's Day.
I went here twice in the past few years with former residents of Julius Meinl's hometown of Vienna. I also have spent some time in Vienna's famed coffee houses. My friends first were shocked to see Meinl operating a cafe, but they had a few comments that are worth noting:
1.) The little silver trays with coffee, water, and a little cookie - are very Viennese.
2.) The little marble tables and odd wooden chairs are also very Viennese.
3.) The food menu is "sort of" Viennese.
3.) The newspaper holders are very Viennese, but since they lack daily papers courtesy of Julius Meinl - they are not very authentic sitting there empty. Perhaps Americans can't figure these out?
4.) The coffee prices for bags of coffee to go are very cheap. My friends from Vienna were blown away at how much cheaper these things are here.
5.) The cakes were "sort of" Viennese.
Ok, we ordered some baked eggs. My friend was sort of freaked out by these. She asked if they had a Austrian cook she could talk to? They had a Germany cook they said, but we never met her. We ate all of our baked eggs. They were good, but she wondered where in Austria this recipe came from.
As for many of the menu items - our super friendly server went through the menu with a "real" Austrian from Vienna and seemed to have fun. They were serving the Vienna Eiskaffee in an incorrect glass - it should be put in what looks like a sundae glass - our server said "wow, we have those, but never use them!" So, the folks in Vienna sent all the right stuff!
Also, the Grosser Brauner was a bit small. The Austrian pull is much longer than a typical 18 second pull - closer to 30 seconds. So, it should have come with a little pot of say a few more shots as is typical in Vienna.
Our server had her look at the cakes. She said most were odd except Apfelstrudel and Topfen strudel ( a sort of active culture cream cheese common in Austria, Hungary, and Germany). This was a fun moment.
I have been here many times for dinner - the goulash is great! I just had a blast with my friend from Vienna in this place. The last time I was here I took a friend from the Czech Republic who lived in Vienna and a friend from Poland who went to University in Vienna and while they said it had the real "feel" of an Austrian coffee house, it was a hybrid which - in my view as a native Midwesterner - pays homage to its roots but serves food for the American palate. If you are looking for a good Austrian place with a very Vienna atmosphere (sans the smoking you still find in some Vienna coffee houses) this is the place.
My friend had been raving about this place as her go-to spot for coffee & brunch. Â As this was one of the few places open this Memorial Day to eat breakfast, we ended up here. Â Service was a little slow, but everyone was very friendly and extremely helpful which made up for it.
Looking at the menu for the first time, there was so much I wanted to try. Â They have a variety of dishes, more than your standard breakfast place. Â I guess that makes sense since they're open breakfast-dinner. Â They also have a pretty extensive list of teas, which is something I love.
Let me say I really, really want to give Meinl 4 stars, but my main dish just didn't cut it. Â I tried the Rosti Potato Pancake (Baked Eggs) with Brioche which was okay. Â The truffle oil was a little overpowering, and the bottom was a little burnt (much to my dismay as I like to scrape the bottom of the bowl to get every little bit of food). Â If I didn't scrape, then the food was okay. Â It wasn't one of those dishes I'd eat again.
Just from looking at the menu though, I would definitely return to at least try some of their other dishes (I've always wanted to try spaetzle...) or pastries or teas/drinks.
Also had one of the specials - the Lemon Lavender Cake - which was delightfully fluffy & delicious. Â This I would come back for.
I've been to this location two times now and have had an A-OK experience each time. Â I can't rate it more than a three because to me, the service had been somewhat subpar.
On our first visit, our waitress was a bit of a sourpuss and on our second, our waitress was nice enough, but didn't go out of her way to be really friendly and it took her somewhat of a long time to take our order.
We've only had coffee and a piece of dessert both times so perhaps that could be why we didn't get treated that well. Â Nevertheless, both trips were almost $15 since the coffee and dessert is somewhat pricey.
However, the coffee is amazing, which is what keeps bringing me back. Â It's brewed perfectly and it's too light or too dark and had a wonderful aftertaste and does not taste bitter at all.
Oh, and the desserts - WOW. Â AMAZING. Â We've had the Opera and the Vienna and both were delicious.
Another downside is that the location is nice, but can get crowded since it's pretty small.
Still in all, we would still come back if we are in the area.
I really love it here. Honestly, I've never had a bad experience, albeit from the time a yuppie mom came in with her 2-12 kids (I've lost count at this point) and promptly stopped paying attention to them so she could order a drink. One child then proceeded to knock down and break all of the hard boiled eggs they had on the counter, all the while continuing to run and scream. Yep, that was the bad time because we were sitting right behind all of this madness. Note to parents: control your children, please.
Otherwise, I love their pastries, I dig some of their food items (get some soup!), and their never ending list of drinks will keep me coming back for years. They have occasional musicians play from time to time, and you can pretty much sit and do anything here, from reading a book, working on your laptop, to playing a game of chess (yes, I've seen it). It's like you're people watching in an outdoor cafe in Europe except you're inside on Lincoln Avenue in Chicago. It's not that much of a difference once you walk in.
It can get crowded, especially at peak times, like lunch or weekends. I've never failed to nab a table here, but it can and will be loud from time to time. However, it's nice to come here late in the evening after a nice dinner with friends and have a hot chocolate or two. Yum.
So, get a drink, read a book, and play some chess. Or do both at the same time. Cheers!
Winner: Best Use of a Former Pepe's Restaurant.
Great place to stop for an after-dinner coffee & dessert. Â The live music (violin duet) was a classy touch. Â Only stopped in for coffee so can't say anything about the food but my espresso & wife's cappuccino were both good. Â Mostly what I liked was the vibe of the place, very relaxed. Â Will be back.
This is one of the places I miss about Chicago, and I am so excited to return here when we move back. Â We used Julius Meinl as a home base one morning last month, when we were here searching for apartments. Â We sat at a table in the front, facing the window, which was clearly meant to be an area where about 4 people could sit with their hot beverages. Â Instead, we took up all 4 seats, spreading out our laptop and papers, and just taking up space. Â But we ate! Â I got some earl grey tea (served on the awesome euro tea platter with a press and a cookie), and more of their incredible baked eggs.
The eggs were hot and glorious, cheesy without being too heavy, and warming to the bone on a winter stormy weekend. Â Our server was incredibly polite and never threw us any shade for taking up 2 extra window seats. Â Looking out at Lincoln Ave, I felt like I could absolutely stay there forever. Â Fortunately for our server, we eventually left. Â But I am counting down the days until I move back to North Center (less than a month!) and can stare out their window again, with hot tea and baked eggs.
I have been to Julius Meinl about 3 times now and have been to 2 of their locations now.
This time around we had:
Cafe mocha: Meinl espresso, Meinl European cocoa, steamed milk, whipped cream. This was exactly what I was in the mood for.
Monin Italian Orange soda: pretty good for an soda.
Service is always pretty good here. I love this coffee shop. It is so cute and reminds me of the french coffee/tea times.
I've known of Julius Meinl from my travels to Europe, and did see this spot open up years ago. Â I never appreciated it until one night my fiance and I were wanting to get out of the house for coffee, as opposed to bars.
This place is pure Vienna. Â The coffee is high quality, and their desserts are to die for. Â What I love the most is they're open LATE. Â That means they don't close at 7 or 8 like other cafes. Â It's a wonderful alternative to the gazillion bars in Chicago.
I love this spot!
I come here to relax with my sister for some coffee and dessert.
I come here for dinner and to catch up on some gossip with my friend.
I come here to get away.
It's so easy to get away with some wonderful desserts, good coffee, attentive staff and easy on the eyes decor. Great for people watching if you're sitting outside. Great for reading a book while warming up with some tea. Whatever. It's all good. Fresh. Worth the time.
Best. Coffee. Ever.
This place is cute and super good. The ricotta cheesecake is highly recommended, and the house coffee is a definite must. The earl grey here is great too. I've never had actual food (like brunch or dinner) here, but I hear it's amazing as well.
This place is definitely more for adults, not children/teenagers. Atmosphere is rather romantic. Although prices aren't necessarily cheap, it's what you expect at a nice coffee shop.
We stopped in here while walking by, thinking that it looked like a nice place to get a coffee. We thought it would be something that you can order from the counter and have a seat, but it turned out that you need to have waiter service.
Well, that's nice, but with tax and tip, $12 for coffee for 2 is not, in my opinion, too good of a value.
That said, having a glass of water and a biscuit served with your drink is a nice touch.
Tuesday was a rough day for me, what with my kitty at the vet up  the street, and all that attendant stress.  So I decided to head on down to Meinl's for a cup of coffee and a big dose of old world charm before I continued on with my errands.  As always, Meinl's rose to the occasion with a cup of Vienna breakfast coffee, an almond croissant, and some blessed peace and quiet, at least until one of the Yuppie baby factories came in with two kids and plunked down right beside me in spite of the place being nearly empty.  The kids weren't horrible but honestly, a little common sense?  When you walk into a sparsely occupied cafe or restaurant, don't sit practically on top of someone else.  Yeah, okay maybe that's a cranky response but I'm all about the personal space cushion, particularly if it's keeping children away from me.
However, Meinl's managed to make it a lovely experience in spite of the unwanted neighbors (one of whom wandered around the cafe -- keep your damn kids at the table! -- and one who spilled milk all over the floor) Â I sipped my coffee, ate my perfectly warmed croissant and read until it was time to leave. Â Before I left I stocked up on coffee, a charming tin graced with paintings of Empress Sissi, some drinking chocolate and a reusable bag that is thin enough to keep tucked into my purse for future shopping trips.
Honestly I wish I could have spent the day there. Â Meinl is one of the few places which genuinely captures an old world vibe, and it makes me surprisingly happy.
Oh and my cat is fine, thanks.
A great European bakery/cafe. Â I like this location the best because of its family atmosphere (compared to the Wrigleyfield one on Southport)
Their coffee is excellent, the pastries, dessert and food is delicious and executed perfectly. Â I'm also glad they don't have wifi (I hated that they never had it at first, but it's grown on me). Â I'm tired of seeing people with their laptops out. Â We should be going to cafe for leisure, not to get work done.
I can't pronounce it, but I like it! For years now, I always thought Julius Meinl was Orange Julius. I know, I know. But, words. Association. All that stuff. In any event, I might have come here expecting some sort of orange, creamy drink (which.are.delicious!) but I left with the suave sophistication of an American on holiday. It looks good on me.
Evidently, JM means "really freaking good" in German (by way of Austria). Once you sit down (and walk past the case of temptation aka the pastries; how are Austrians not fat what with all the chocolate and pastries?), take some time and fully peruse the menu. There's much to choose from and while it's impossible to make a bad decision, you'll surely want to make the best you can. For me, there was no other drink choice than a fruit tea infusion. Because I am but mere [time increments] from a throne of my own, I chose the Kir Royal. Delectable. Looseleaf tea in its own press, infused with hibiscus, papaya, red & black currants, bilberries (vas is?),
elderberries, rose petals, raspberries and strawberries.... how could I go wrong? I didn't. In fact, I demand to be served this tea whilst being fanned and told nice things about myself. One day.
I was almost too caught up in my beverage to remember I ordered food. Once it came, there was no way I could have forgotten it. I ordered a house specialty: baked eggs. I'd never had eggs prepared this way before. I'm a fan. I ordered my eggs with jalapeno & cheddar cheeses and potato. It was served with toast in this small cast-iron skillet. Again, love. If this is what life in Vienna's like, sign me up. As I fully recognize, I am just coasting along in life until I realize my destiny to become a laddie who lunches. This was a nice sneak peak into my charmed future. Auf wiedersehen for now, peeps.
Decided to check this location out, since I enjoyed my visit to the Southport location. I wanted to compare the two also.
This location was not as busy as the other, but that was actually a good thing. I checked it out this past Sunday afternoon (I also caught the other one on a Sunday afternoon as well). My party of three was able to seat ourselves comfortably and we recieved rapid service. I ordered a slice of chocolate cake and the hot chocolate with whipped cream. Let me say, that was one of the best chocolate cakes I have ever tasted.
This location seemed to be more relaxed than the other. I guess it was because Lakeview is so much more of a busy area. Good sweets, good time!
This is a PSA.
Dear parents of ill-behaved children,
Julius Meinl is a soothing place, they ooze the Euro vibe and people meander through their press coffee, smoothies, crepes, Â delicately designed pastries and epicurean dishes. Quiet, serene, this is a weekday place to curl up with a book or chat with an old, dear friend. Escape to Vienna. Find your happy place.
So, my suggestion to you and your messy, jerky, snotty, loud, under-exercised children? Take it "to go" and sit in Welles Park. Let them run around, scream, do whatever the hell they want. VERY FAR AWAY FROM ME. Do us all a favor and hide what a terrible job you've done bestowing any manners on your children. Seriously.
Besides annoying EVERYONE around you, your kids spilled my coffee, and almost knocked over my computer. Beyond that, you left a torrential mess. I hope you tipped your server well, because that is just uncalled for in any type of establishment. Do you let your kids throw crap all over the floor at your house? Yes? Well stay there, then.
Best,
Someone who enjoys children (and parents) with manners
Ahem, thank you all for letting me get that off my chest. Unfortunately, at this location in "baby maker" Lincoln Square, this is commonplace. Many families, not so many family-friendly establishments. Lots of bars and fancy restaurants, so JM is just ripe for the picking, pillaged by brats and their overindulgent parents. UGH.
However, if you can get beyond that...it's a lovely place. More like a restaurant/cafe and less of a Starbucks. You can get it to, but you'll mess with the vibe. Coffee always tastes better with a delightfully cute creamer cup, cookies, a glass of water and it's very own stirrer spoon on a tray. Sigh, ceramic mugs light up my life. Cardboard just won't cut it.
Naptime (between 1-3pm) is probably your best bet to avoid the little ones.
*note: I realize SOME people have well behaved children and this PSA is by no means meant as a blanket statement for all the offspring in Lincoln Square. Just about...90 percent.
