Kanok

I stayed in and ordered takeaway as I was feeling a little unwell and it was raining outside. This 'food' has made me feel decidedly worse and I must say it would be best described as pretty darn disgusting. I ordered Garlic Basil Fried Rice with Soft Shell Crab and Japanese Chicken Gyoza. Sounds nice doesn't it? WRONG! It all tasted incredibly stale, was horribly chewy and arrived cold (despite the restaurant only being 0.3 miles from my apartment). I'm pretty sure the soft shell crab has been refried several times. Sufficed to say it was pretty much uneaten and I certainly will not be ordering from here again.

Love this place! The staff is friendly and always remembers me and my friend. The food is good and its byob which is awesome!

Now sidenote, I don't do the sushi at all. My friend does and she likes it however I stick to other non-sushi dishes!

You have taken me from my lows and carried me to my highs. You bring me fresh seaweed salad right to my door. You accept my picky orders without a roll of the eyes or a sigh of annoyance. You and I Kanok, are meant to be.

Your Hot Hattatagei-oven baked scallops with spicy mayo, and red sauce take me to a different world. I close my eyes and as the first bite goes down, I am in bliss. Nothing around me matters, I am in a world where flavors combine to flow in balance with one and other.

Is it possible to have created a dish so perfectly in tune with flavor combination-so wonderful?

Red Thai Curry-There are no words to describe the perfection within this dish. Your aroma brings silence and curiosity to the table guests, as I grudgingly offer them a taste, their expression says it all, "I wish I had ordered her dish." I cautiously try to take my plate from the middle of the table when suddenly, "no, it can't be" I thought. "Can we share this dish, Andrea?" It was all happening so fast, "I-I-I, sure, of course we can." My heart dropped, I thought to myself, "maybe I can come back and get take out tomorrow?"

All in all, I really enjoy this place, even if it means having to share my plates with my friends...They aren't the type of sushi restaurant that "doesn't do that," if I want to substitute octopus for crab, "yes, no problem" They are BYOB and they don't give you any fuss about staying long after your meal to finish drinking the bottle with your friends. I love this place and I am so fortunate to have it in the area!
