Schoolyard Tavern

This is our go-to bar in the neighborhood.  We live less than two blocks from here, and it's probably the restaurant we visit the most.  The food is much better than other area bars (ahem, Justin's, ahem), and during the day/very early evening, it has much more of a neighborhood feel than a college bar feel.  

During the summer, the patio is really nice (but get there early, because it gets crowded on nice days).  We love that we can take our dog there - and the servers have always treated our dog really well, too.  Above everything, this is the reason we'll continue to go to Schoolyard as long as we live in the neighborhood.

I would give this a 3.5. Ok bar food but great atmosphere for Illinois and Marquette games.

I'm a big fan of all the Four Corners establishments and School Yard is no exception. I've been coming here for several years now and thought it would be worthwhile to write a review about my most recent experience.

Three friends and I hit up School Yard for their awesome Wednesday night special ($5 food and $3.50 all drafts) - definitely a good pick!

We started off with the queso, it was delicious! They did not give us very many chips to start with but our waitress quickly remedied the situation and we polished off the whole skillet pretty quickly! It's also worth noting that their tortilla chips are very yummy! They're salty, light and perfectly cooked. The queso is definitely a worthwhile appetizer.

For my meal I had the tacos (2 korean and 1 battered cod) and the seasoned fries. I've had a variation of this meal at other Four Corners bars and it never disappoints. Be sure to order the seasoned fries with whatever you get - they are amazing! My fellow diners tried the boneless buffalo wings, the turkey club and the grilled cheese. Everyone was happy with their meal and all the plates were pretty clean by the end of the meal!

We also took advantage of the draft beer special. They have a great variety on tap and I like how ALL the drafts were included not just the domestics like some bars do.

Finally, I also have to note that our waitress was pretty good and very attentive considering how crowded the bar was over the course of the night. The atmosphere is fun and lively yet also pretty relaxed. It's definitely a good place to chill out and grab some good grub and drinks on a week night (I've also been on Friday and Saturday nights - great times then too!).

The great atmosphere, quality service and good food and drinks make School Yard a great spot to visit if you're in the area.
