Excellent Italian food.  It's sophisticated and delicious. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed a perfect Florida evening.  The service was efficient and welcoming.  We will be back!!!

Awful. The food was poor and overpriced.  The waiter Eric was rude, arrogant and did not want to help us when we had to send our burnt food back.  We were told it was our fault. Will never go here again.

Excellent dining experience with friendly, knowledgeable service and fresh, well made "Modern Italian" cuisine.  Highlights include the huge antipasto plate with homemade mozzarella, cured meats, roasted peppers and a mix of delicious olives.  Homemade focaccia was brushed with oil and right out of the oven.  Rice balls appetizer was out of this world; order these creamy and crisp pieces of heaven. Pasta with white beans, ground sausage and broccoli rabe was crazy good; small order is more than half a pound of pasta!  Bacalao (Cod) was tasty, although not the table favorite. A tad undercooked. Veal pounded and breaded under an arugula salad was Italian comfort food and we left no morsel on the plate.  Clams and mussels in a bowl of tomato "sauce" was a delicious extra dish; perfectly cooked and richly flavorful.  Wine only (no hard liquor), but the list had a nice cross section with a focus on Italy.  Overall, a solid four star experience.

Perhaps I have never met the owner? Although, I'm sure I have....and I've never had bad service or gotten a bad vibe.
With that said, I love Kitchenetta.  My lil bro lives in Fort Lauderdale and had introduced me to this place about 5 or 6 years ago.  I mean, sure, it's on a major highway, and the sign is neon...so ambiance is sort of lost, but the food makes up for it.  We're proud Italians...we love Italian food...and we love it elevated.  I walked into this place with a sort of arrogance, I admit.... such as, "Hmph, Italian food in South Florida??riiiiiight".....but they proved me wrong!
Specials are written on a chalk board....but we don't need no stinkin specials when we order our appetizers..... ARANCINI!!! Rice balls...they are SO GOOD HERE! and even better the next day! Please get them.
Food is consistently good....valet is a plus.... pricey? I suppose, I didn't find it to be that bad.  It's a great find in South Florida if you want Italian food.

Was very very good but waaaay to much food. You could order one app and and one entree for two people and still not be able to finish.  Definitely request a meal proportion sizing before you order, but all food ordered was excellent. and to be fair, they did say they have generous proportions and family style when we sat down, so kind of my bad.

It is a favorite for Birthday's and celebrations!  Out-of-towners in the mood for Italian should place it on their list.  The food is simply prepared, fresh, with always a surprising twist.  It could not get any better, the service is personal and attentive, and save room for dessert, because you will kick yourself if you refuse that one!  You'll think someone who really loved you was cooking! Both inside and outside dining are available!

Worst possible service.  Owner is exceedingly arrogant and one person in our party left without eating.  It ruined the evening for all.  Will NEVER EVER return.

Seven or eight years (and a few careers) ago, I wrote one of the first reviews of Kitchenetta for the Miami Herald. I'm happy to report that it's every bit as good as it was when I wrote that rave. It's the best kind of traditional Italian food - homemade, simple and plentiful. The flavors are clean, the staff is charming and the experience is just never anything less than great.

A few special raves: the hot flatbread always fresh from the pizza oven, the spicy beef ribs (a frequent special but not on the regular menu), homemade meatballs (the lightest and most flavorful you've ever had), the lamb ragu and even the roasted chicken. Make a trip on Sunday night for unforgettable Sunday sauce with those meatballs, Italian sausage and much more. You won't need to eat again for days.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place.  Came upon this place by chance (on the road and too starved to search all night for somewhere to eat, so just went across the street).  The food is excellent!  Not heavy, large portions for sharing, and the best mozzarella my taste buds have ever encountered (homemade).

The staff is awesome.  The owner was friendly, took his time to explain the entire menu to us, and even brought us warm milk for our cranky baby, free of charge.

Ambience is nice.  Stainless steel everywhere, but still cozy due to its small dining area.

Highly recommended!  Authentic Italian at its best.  You won't be disappointed.

Kitchenetta is one of those places I've driven past hundreds of times, but somehow never tried until last weekend. I really don't know what took me so long! The meatballs, though they are massive, were airy and delicious--especially paired with the creamy fresh ricotta and the fresh baked bread to soak up the sauce. My friend and I also had the baby octopus special, veal milanese and a rigatoni pasta, all of which were good, but we left talking about the meatballs. My only regret is that I didn't go with a larger group to try more dishes and take advantage of the better prices on their family style portions, but I won't make that mistake next time.

My only compaint is the forced valet parking. Though complimentary, I just find it unnecessary in such a small parking lot. But for upscale Italian food in Fort Lauderdale, this will be my new go-to spot.

One reason to stay in Fort Lauderdale is Vincent and Maria's Kitchenetta. You don't have to go to New York City for a decent meal.

Tonight  I was on my own, and I went to Kitchenetta for dinner.  I came very early, 5:30 on a Sunday; I entered an empty restaurant where the staff was busily setting up, discussing the evening specials, and checking each others appearance. In no time the place filled, there was a hum, a buzz, wine was being poured, menus presented, specials described at each table.

Kitchenetta has a professional staff. there are no flubs, Everyone knows their job, and Vincent, the owner, is on the floor or in the Kitchen(etta).

There was an 18 oz New York Strip steak and a whole Sea Bass among the specials, I was tempted by the steak, but it seemed too large for this boy, so I went with the sea bass-- garlic, olive oil, sautéed and broiled, it was, as usual a winner. I am guessing, but I think that although it was called Sea Bass, it was Mediterranean Sea Bass, or Bronzini, and it was terrific. I usually like local fish, but tonight, I made an exception.

I ordered the Sicilian style Italian Broccoli (cime di rapa) which the waiter warned me might be a little spicy.  It was fine.

For dessert I asked for the Italian cheese cake, something that in Brooklyn days I used to eat at Crici's on Lorimer Street in Greenpoint, and which I have not enjoyed since those days, having been spoiled by Charlie Crici's ricotta version some time in the 70's and 80's.

Do you believe in reincarnation?  This Cheese cake was as good or maybe better than the one remembered.  Being better than a memory is almost impossible, but Vincent  or someone at Kitchenetta has done it.

I hope that Vincent & Maria won't be mad at me when I come in just for the cheesecake.

Out of the ordinary, with bold flavors. Food is five star and wine selection outstanding. My only compliant is the noise level otherwise I would give it five stars

Meatball entree comes with 3 giant meatballs that are worth every bite! I recommend their signature meat sauce that comes with short ribs, veal and sausage. Perfectly al dente pasta with a dobble of ricotta on top!

Also their rosemary bread is good enough to eat three times a day.

Great staff and fast service, even on Valentine's night!

Sat at the little bar rather than getting  a table to chat with my girlfriends one quiet week night. The service and conversation we got from the barkeep and other waiters that passed by made us feel special.

The food was overall, pretty good- but nothing out of this world. We munched on a bunch of appetizers: Calamari, Rissotto balls and meatballs - and a shared an entree -but I can't remember which one- which means it was just ok.

I like the feel of the place -big windows, open but cozy and chatty - very authentic Italian feel.  A good place to go with a few friends. They offer family style portions good to share.

A little pricey I think for the quality.  Wine selections are pretty good.

They feature a classic Sunday pasta and gravy thing in the afternoon  - just like my grandma (if she was Italian) would have made. (How do you say, "that's cool" in Italian?)

Food is FANTASTIC, authentic trattoria style complete with enormous portions...just like gramma used to make!  The servers are also very 'flavorful'. Great NY Italian dialect! And very friendly.
    Our new favorite restaurant.

Looking at Kitchenetta on appearance, it is a hip, trendy restaurant that is inviting to the passerby. It lured my cousins and I through the front door. It is a fantastic start for to a dinner when valet is complimentary.

We decided to start off with a cheap, but well tasting bottle of red wine. I am no connoisseur, but I thought it was great. Sadly, the name is escaping my memory.

As for the food, it is mostly made from scratch. All their pastas are fresh. With most things made fresh expect the service to be on the slow side. Even though, it is slow; they are very tentative. They gave us fresh plates and utensils after our appetizer.

The first thing to come out was the bread; it was a wonderfully made rosemary flatbread with olive oil sprinkled on the top. We devoured it in a matter of moments. Next, it was our eggplant with mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce topped with fresh basil. This simply baked dish was absolutely amazing. I could eat it all day. Sadly, this is where the good eats ended for us.

The wine dried up and the entrees were large and atrocious. The entrees can be shared; we had two entrees for four people. The Pusillini with greens and beans was tasteless. Was the pasta suppose to be in a pool of broth? Who knows. All I know it was bad.

The next dish we ordered was the rigatoni with various meats mixed in the dish. It read better off the menu then when we actually eating the meal. Where was the meat? I felt like one of those crazies on the beach scanning for treasure and just as unlucky with finding anything of worth. Another qualm about the dish was the dryness. No meat and dry just how I want my dish.

Would I go back? I would say yes for the appetizer, wine and maybe to order another entree just to see if I had bad luck and ordered the worst things on the menu.

marginal.....everyhting comes out is enough to feed an army therefore it's a good place to go with a group, the downfall is that the larger the party the more terrible the service.  I had to ask 8 times for a glass of water before finally getting up and going to the bar.  Staff is disorganized, desserts are TERRIBLE, but entrees are palatable.   For the money I would suggest Casa D'angelo instead.

This was our 2nd time here.   The first I declared this to be new favorite Italian restaurant in S Florida...it was that good.  We've been itching to go back and while this 2nd visit wasn't that 'unbelievable' experience like the first it was still great.   I love red sauce dishes and what we ordered wasn't....so to be fair I do want to go back and try red sauce dishes.  It's expensive but the portions are huge.  It's also very loud so be prepared.  Try it, you will like.

I'm not going to waste my time or yours by writing a long review here, so I'll just get to the point...

    Don't bother going here .

A once great restaurant has turned into a stage for the owner's poor attitude. Unfortunately his bad attitude has rubbed off on his looser, slow, full-of-attitude staff.

The owner clearly has no idea that "customers come first".

    So, in a nutshell ;

    --slow service
    --poor attention to detail
--unwilling to alter orders at all
    --poor wait staff
    --nothing but excuses

This place was a total surprise to me. The food is to die for. Portion sizes aside (in fact, I'd love it if there were smaller dishes on the menu), they never compromise the quality of ingredients, the care that goes into the preparation, and the wide variety of dishes that they have obviously mastered.

Last night, I had one of their specials. It was a salmon dish with some charred/roasted veggies, and arugula sprinkled with fresh parm. The salmon was cooked perfectly medium and was well seasoned. But the true stars of that dish were the vegetables, which were so outstanding that I think they have ruined all other roasted vegetables for me. Their wood burning oven turns out the most delicious flatbread, which is always slathered in a very good olive oil, making it perfect accompaniment to just about any dish.

Food is just amazing. I believe that they serve best Italian food at least in South Florida. I always very satisfied with their food and friendly service.

The restaurant is always packed, so usually you have to wait a little bit if you don't have a reservation. There are seats both inside and outside (on terrace). Music is louder inside, so you have to speak up to have conversation with your folks. Outside is a perfect choice if it's not too hot or humid which is rare condition in Fort Lauderdale. This part is the only negative point. I don't choose this place when I want to talk or listen.

To enjoy their fantastic dishes, I strongly recommend to go there with a group more than 3 people. Although you can choose smaller portion, but many of their dishes are prepared for sharing. I guess it's Italian style...
It's not the place for "I order fish, you order meat...". more like "WE eat salad, pasta, pizza!" kind. The quality of the food is sooo high and fancy, but atmosphere is much more casual. So please don't expect classy romantic dining.

Ok, first off I'd like to say that I usually disregard bad reviews due to service. And I also have to say that if we had a different waiter or if a different manager was working the night we went to Kitchenetta, this review may have been dramatically different. However, based on my experience I will never go back, nor would I recommend it to anyone.

So upon arrival my wife and I preemptively decided that we loved the place. Smelled great, young, great outdoor area, big coal oven....all the makings of a great restaurant. But as soon as we sat down it all changed.

It took the waiter 20 min before he read us the specials. We then ordered and waited another 30 minutes. Still no appetizer (grilled vegetable platter). So we asked if the appetizer was almost done. We were informed that everything was "prepared to order and the veggies were coming off the grill now". I found this particularly interesting because the vegetables were ice cold when they finally reached our table.

So we'd now been there about an hour and had just finished our appetizers. It was a little annoying, but we were still excited to taste the food I'd heard was so amazing. Unfortunately that would never happen.

Another 30 minutes passed and our plates were not cleared and not one person stopped at our table the entire time we were there. Our bottle of wine was almost empty and STILL no food! At this point we complained to the manager as other diners had come and gone since we'd arrived. My wife said that if our food didn't arrive by 9:15 (7:15 rez) she was walking out the door. Well, we finished our bottle of wine, 9:15 came, no food, out walked my wife.

The manager then came over and tried to feed me the same line about "food prepared to order" 2 hours?!? No food?!? Empty bottle of wine?!? No waiter assistance at all?!? Thats not the time to make excuses, that's the time to apologize. However, we never received an apology and the manager seemed to not care at all. I even mentioned Yelp to him. Look, I understand that this restaurant probably has great food. I've heard enough people tell me. But if that's the case, your restaurant shouldn't only have 3.5 stars on Yelp. I told the manager to read the reviews and fix the problem. I hope he reads this one.

As someone who's spent time roaming small villages in Tuscany, lives in NYC and travels a fair amount - this is the best italian food I've had in the US. Yes - service can be slow. But, there's a reason it's usually crowded by people who appear to be regulars - the quality is great.

This past Sunday we finally got around to trying Grandma's Sauce. It was awesome. We also enjoyed green salad and a small order of the risotto balls, and threw in a glass of house chianti for good measure. The bill was a little over $60 w/ tip and we enjoyed leftovers the next day. This place is on my list of regular stops when i'm in Florida.

Oh yeah - this place is made for a big group.

I had driven by here numerous times... and honestly, I thought it was a high-end kitchen appliance store for two reasons: the name doesn't really give it away that it's a restaurant, and I also was driving by going about 45 miles an hour. So I finally figured out that it's an Italian restaurant after my friend wanted to come here for her birthday.

The only parking option here is valet, unless you feel like parking by one of the furniture stores and risk getting towed. Thankfully, the valet is free... even though I really don't like other people driving my car. I got here a little early and met with one of the other people in our group, so we browsed the wine list. Their prices were a bit too steep for my liking, especially considering most of their entrees are $20 and up.

Once our whole group arrived, we took our seats on the patio. Several in our group ordered appetizers (the caprese salad was yummy - generous slices of buffalo mozzarella over gigantic slices of heirloom tomatoes, all drizzled with extra virgin olive oil). I used some of the caprese mozzarella on the bread that was brought to our table, which was their pizza crust topped with herbs.

After listening to the dizzying array of specials (I tuned out after about the 5th one), I ordered the Gorgonzola gnocchi. I knew it would be a "generous portion", but jeez this was a lot of food. I really wish someone in my group had wanted to share, because the problem with taking this particular dish home is that is does not reheat well at all. But it was delicious and filling, and the Gorgonzola wasn't overwhelming. I only ate about a third of it and shared some more with the rest of the table. I took the rest home, but sadly it just wasn't the same.

I'd say we were all very happy with our meals, and I wouldn't complain about coming back here. Next time, I'm going to try the pizza. If that bread at the beginning of our meal was any indication, it should be a fantastic pie. I would've given this place 4 stars, but it was a bit on the pricey side for my wallet.

Last night I decided to try Kitchetta as I had heard good things about it.  The establishment is located on Federal Highway. Not the most attractive street in the world, but Kitchenetta does a good job with an inviting covered patio area.  The place is very open and modern. It was packed so we waited a few minutes for a table.  The wine list favors Italian options but they do have a few American wines as well. Although it is not extensive, it is adequate for this restaurant.

For a starter I ordered a mixed green salad. The "small" portion was so large that I shared my salad with the women sitting next to me. Beware that all the portions are "family style" from what I encountered. The salad was fresh and tasty.  The lady next to me ordered an appetizer of clams, and mussels, in a red sauce. She shared her appetizer with me. I know it's weird but I am not turning down food when hungry and I love seafood. Don't judge!

For a main course, we ordered the baked rigatoni half portion.  The portion could have fed a small principality. If I would have know that the lady next to me and her husband ordered the same entree, we all 4 would have shared one small order, and still had some leftover.  The rigatoni was cooked al dente, with a light tomato sauce, and some braised beef. It was topped off with fresh mozzarella and baked in an oven. Yum!

I didn't have dessert because I already felt like a pig and we were meeting people and had to leave.

The service was very good. Our waiter was this old school guy from Nice. What?Every Italian restaurant should have a  nicoise waiter. He was pleasant and attentive.

I will definitely be back.  We ended up sitting inside but I would recommend sitting outside, weather permitting.

    Enjoy!

I recently was on vacation in FTL and went with some local friends to check out Kitchenetta.  They go often and wanted to share some great Italian! I ordered the eggplant salad to start and it was delicious! I then shared (single portions are outragesouly large) the buatini with panchetta which hit the spot with perfectly done aldente pasta and a great red sauce! We finished with a fabulous tiramisu that was not too heavy and simply done.

The inside of the restaurant is extremly loud and was hard to hear for our group of 8. Also, I think they could limit the number of speicals on the menu (prob 12) that the waitor ran through each one at mighty mouse speed! He'd lost me by special #3!

Great place in a what seems to be somewhat lacking food culture for FTL!

Kitchenetta seems pretentious and over-worked.  The waiter was inattentive and haughty, and the faux-minimalist design/lighting is more reminiscent of Costco than of Soho.
The food (huge bowls of meatballs/pasta and chicken/pasta) was smothered in salt and hot pepper with only a hint of what might have been.  The ingredients were quality, but that does not compensate for the unannounced hot and the general attitude problem of this overpriced place.

Ive been here more times than I can count. I usually go with my chef friend (like me a total food snob) and we critique it unmercifully each and every time!  That being said, it is one of the better games in town as Ft. Lauderdale consists mostly of the Chili's or Ale House variety of shitholes I wouldn't step into.

The portions are outstanding!  Taste and quality is consistent.  The wine list is quality as well. I think my big big problem with this place..dont laugh...is the fact that they are not sleek and tight with their food.  Each and every plate comes to the table with the rim of the plate or bowl crusted with chopped parsley or crushed black pepper.  Its disgusting.  It offers no value, visually or otherwise.  I find it downright offensive and completely unappealing!  (See, theres where the snob part comes in).  In fact, my friend and I agreed next time we go, we are going to REQUEST our plates not be acousted with a rim of pepper or chopped parsley!

ALSO... I think the sauces that come with cream need to lighten up.  I can make a fancy killer thick (like mac n chz) cream sauce at home if I wanted that!!!

Ok then!  And dont even think about bringin kids!

Oh, and the Seafood SaffronSoup is TO DIE FOR, I miss it soooo!  Too bad I gave up Shellfish over a year ago!  Gd wants kosher.. who am I to debate!!! :)

Ahhh...Kitchenetta...I love you like a drunken uncle.  Seriously.  This place can be very fun and very good, but you're never quite sure when it may blow up in your face or spiral and sputter into bizarre behavior.  It's unpredictable, so not the best place to go for a sure-thing dining experience.  However, the food can be crazy good.

I'll never forget my first experience there.  This happened several years ago and is absolutely true.  Lunch on the patio  (I don't think they serve lunch anymore) - glass of some type of white wine (vermentino or something), bowl of linguine vongole.  Bliss.  The owner, who seems like a good enough guy, is straight out of central casting.  Big personality, very kinetic, snazzy dresser.  Anywho, during our lunch, he steps out on the patio and lights up a cigar.  Unlike a lot of people, a cigar or cigarette doesn't bother me while eating.  I don't smoke, but unless they're blowing it in my face, I really don't care if others do.  Another discussion.  In any case, the owner is enjoying the day, puffing on a Cohiba (or whatever) and decides "hey, you know what sounds good?"  "I'm going to chainsaw that tree stump over there."  No kidding.  Armani threads, big fat cigar dangling from his mouth, a number of obviously occupied tables outside with his guests, and he pulls a chainsaw from out of who knows where, cranks the thing up to deafening and starts going to work.  My wife and I had to pinch ourselves.   We didn't know whether to be pissed or delighted.

Anyway, I've probably been a half a dozen times over the last couple of years, always arrive slightly anxious, typically leave happy and have managed to learn a few tricks along the way.  There is a formula for ordering.  Portions are Oprah-sized, so be strategic.

Do not make the mistake of ordering a traditional, individual, two or three-course meal.  There were three of us on the last two visits and, as we don't do desserts, we split an (one) appetizer, an order of pasta and a couple of non-pasta entrees.

On one occasion the appetizer was a 1lb wood-grilled octopus served in OV and garlic with hot peppers.  My type of wonderful.  We followed with a small mountain of rigatoni with a veal shank/pork red sauce and ice-cream scoop of ricotta on top. Finished with short ribs (which were more like little individual chops) with hot peppers and a very good zuppa di pesce.  Fantastic meal.

We are big eaters and left painfully full, but have mistakenly ordered even more food in the past, which was just gross in its gratuitousness.

Our last trip included an antipasto special with some buffalo mozzarella, cerignola olives, sopressata, house roasted peppers, etc...very good but didn't necessarily send me.  Followed with a good, but almost overly oily seafood linguine and a dry, uninspired veal Milanese with a haystack of fresh arugula with reggiano, which was great.  As I mentioned, there were three of us and, this case, the three plates were fine.  Less impressed with this most recent meal, but was a bit of an aberration compared to previous trips.

OK, other details you need to be aware of:

IT'S LOUD.  If you're reading this, you now know, so don't be surprised.  Just roll with it.  If you can't do loud, best to avoid Kitchenetta.

The servers can be up and down.   Our last waiter was a fantastically bombastic kid from Queen's who was very charming and helpful.  We've also seen the other face of NYC in their wait staff - impatient and overly aggressive.

Wine list is good, largely Italian.

If you're going on a weekend in-season, don't even bother trying to pull into the restaurant parking lot (valet), it will set the wrong tone for your entire evening.  Their parking lot is extremely small and the valets are forced to treat it like a game of Tetrus - cars are packed 6 deep.  Do yourself a favor - drive past the restaurant entrance.  There are two empty furniture store-parking lots adjacent to the restaurant on the northeastern side that are easy and free and a 30 second walk  from the restaurant.

    Enjoy.

I came to this place with my girlfriends to celebrate one of the girl's birthdays. We have ordered about 10 different dishes to share and, as I can remember, all the food was delicious! However, when we ordered a birthday cake/tiramisu for our friend........ huge disappointment to all 8 of us. Tiramisu was not tiramisu. This cake or whatever they have given us was beyond dry and it had so much of dried raisins that it was so overwhelming. It was not good at all. Parking is not any better either.
So, this restaurant is A-OK for me due to delicious food but not a fan of raisin tiramisu/cake and parking.

    Top recommendation!

The best italian on my list.
I have been there twice, most recently with friends on golf trip and of course they were delighted that I brought them there. For any great restraurant, more so than critic's top reviews, there's nothing better than recommendations from people you trust. For this place, that should not be difficult, I was introduced by a business associate via his brother who resides in the area.  And I am sure my friends will bring folks to this place the first chance they have.

From the table bread, arugula salad, starters - clams, mussels or octupus, main & pasta dishes veal, clam linguine, spicy spaghetti, to dessert - tiramisu, this place does it right. Absolutely delicious.

This place will work for almost all occasions as well. They offer indoor and outdoor seating, outdoor is my preference.

    The Next Time:
Same as above plus whatever the waiter recommends.

    Valet only for your vehicle.

I don't know that I want to return for the food alone; there is an outdoor seating area that allows animals, though, and I really like bringing my dog with me when I dine out.  I can overlook the culinary transgression once for my puppy.

The service was just above average and the servers were very nice.  We came near closing and yet we were not met with any perceived hostilities from anyone and were seated right away.  There were still several other larger tables present at the appetizer stage, so all was looking good for us. We ordered the following:

    Meatball appetizer
    Pork Loin Dinner
    Red Wine

Anyone that has read my reviews so far, knows that I have no tolerance for salt.  All of the food was salty; too salty for me.  I ate as much as I could, but I don't know that I would like the food even if it were not salty.  The meatballs were burnt and I couldn't get past the flavor of salty soot.  The pork was reminiscent of those frozen loaves of meat that you purchase at the supermarket and cook in the oven.

They allowed they puppy and they told me that the menu changes.  I will try once more.

The food at Kitchentta is the best Italian I've ever had.  No matter which coast of Italy you're looking for, there is something to please the pickiest eater.

The decor is very "modern-industrial" as mentioned in another review, with large stainless tables, exposed AC ducts and plastic stools & chairs.  It works really well for this place.

The staff was very friendly.  Their is a bit of truth to the NY state of mind, but NEVER has ANYONE, from the valet to the bus boy, been rude or anything but professional.  The waiters come to your table with the evenings specials hand-written on a chalk board and they are extremely knowledgeable about every single item.  The owner is there every night from what I can tell and he is always happy to seat you (if there is a table). There is a small bar and they have a very nice wine list if you have to wait for a table. The menu is in Italian and English just in case you just got off the plane from Rome.

All food is cooked to order so it definitely takes a bit longer than a typical restaurant, but as you can tell this place is far from typical. There "bread" is thin-crust flatbread cooked in a wood-burning oven and is drizzled with olive oil and some light salt & herbs.  The portions are HUGE and come in "solo" and "family" sizes.  On this visit we started with by far the best meatballs any of us have ever eaten. All 3 of us are true foodies that have been to the best there is. (my selfish pseudo-credentials). They were large and their red sauce was out of this world.  We also had a pizza topped with mushrooms, prosciutto and roasted red and yellow peppers.  In addition to the pizza we tried their seafood special which had huge prawns, clams, calamari and mussels in a nice tomato based broth.

I would go back in a heartbeat... and will soon!

Awful experience! The rotten service and crappy food makes it a place to stay away from. I was with a party of 7 and the service and food was so bad that the guest of honor was embarrassed that we had wasted our money to take her there. Extremely over priced for what you get. I could go on with all the details but why bother. I don't feel like reliving it all.

Don't hate me...I know many people love this place and maybe we caught them on a really off day....

One of my former bosses adores this place and took us there for a casual staff meeting.
My pasta dish tasted very off and was very oily, one of my collegues had Gnocci with a Gorgonzola sauce and was also not happy, the Gnocci were a little overcooked.
While the modern decor is nice, I felt it just doesn't work with the rustic family- style italian cooking...I mean come on, there must be a happy medium between this and checkered table cloths and big chianti bottles..
I would give Kitchenetta a 2nd try...but I didn't get why my boss was raving about them..

    Can you say, YUM?

I came here with a group, a few people had been here before, for others, like myself, this was the first time.

The service was excellent and the food was equal. I truly enjoyed the risotto balls, their house salad and tiramisu. They have a huge special list, almost overwhelmingly so.

The only reason I didnt give it 5 starts is because of the noise. The downside to this group-friendly restaurant is that its crazy loud, so it makes it difficult to hear people at your table.

I am mad they are now on vacation because I was going to go tonight!

I drive 30 minutes to get to this place.  The food is outstanding and the staff is great.  The Cavetilli is proper and the place is George Jetson funky.  Parking sucks in the tiny parking lot, and if it is full you need to back out.  (OK for me but my wife would have totaled the car for sure)

Who goes to a place because of good parking?  (Old lazy people do)

Save room for desert, and I always take a pizza home for the kids.  This place is a winner and will not break the bank.

    Kitchenetta is a winneretta.

No, thanks. More like old New York than the Old World charm.

I took a friend here on a lark since our usual haunts were either jammed with tourists or just not exciting us that evening. We had the Sunday Sauce which was good and filling, no real complaints about the food.

But the atmosphere made me feel like we were in a bad episode of the Sopranos. If you are not interested in a valet driving your car, you get treated like yesterday's diapers and have to do handstands to back up to where mere peons are permitted to park. Not convenient.

We sat outside on the patio because it was a pleasant evening, accepting the serenade of car horns from the Very Impatient People of lesser Fort Lauderdale. That was our choice and I accept that, but beware if you choose to dine here. You might even witness a near-miss that doesn't miss right out front.

Then our fast-talking host seated us, whipped through the specials of the night and quickly departed the scene. Our waiter brought out the menu board to give us the thorough discussion of what is served, featuring f@ckin Sunday Sauce and f@ckin meatbawls and f@ckin great food. I got the f@ckin Sunday Sauce with the biggest f@ckin meatball I had ever seen in my life. Tasty and filling, but the overall customer experience left me thinking "not again".

Maybe I'd give it another chance if you wanna buy me dinner there, otherwise I'll try other places in town first. Cheers!

I thought the food here was top-notch; the best Italian I've had in a while, including in San Francisco. The Sunday Sauce, chock full of sausage, short ribs, meatballs, and large ice cream-reminiscent scoops of fresh ricotta - was delish - as was the frise salad. The ambiance was truly modern European. I liked the ambiance, the service, the food was all delicious, as was the wine. People seemed to stick around and they had a complimentary valet. All in all - A+
