Awesome food and friendly service!  Merideth the bartender is the best and the chef makes some of the best Mexican food and soups in Fort Lauderdale.

This place is a dive bar with a great vibe.  If you are a J Alexander or Hillstone type, this may not be for you!  The menu is simple bar food, but it is well executed and good....  my friend had the fish and chips on two visits we made there... I tasted it and it really was some of the best fish I've had.  The first visit, I tried the Shepard's Pie...very good with a rich gravy and lots of fresh vegetables (not canned or frozen) and ample meat.  The next visit I had the chicken quesadilla... filled with chunks of zesty chicken and loads of cheese... I had to take half of it home.  It is a locals place... and there's lot's of interesting people here.  Every social strata and occupation.  Reminded me slightly of the crowds at Mack's Club Duece on Miami Beach back in the day. The decor is full of nautical memorabilia and momentos.  The only negative is the smoking... it is a bar and people light up.  If that is a concern tell the waitress and she'll put you at a table along the wall.  Oh--- and Wayward is a good value... we were hard pressed to spend more than $20 on two entrees... drinks extra... but cheap.  Love this place!

When I first saw the pub, my first thought was cheesy themed and once inside it was more or less the same. Despite that the small pub was very welcoming. You can tell that they cater to locals but as a newbie, I was given equal respect. It is not the kind of place I usually go to, but I was attending a show at the Culture Room and both are located in the same shopping plaza so I decided to go there. I was looking for a place to pregame before the show and with great happy hour specials ($2.50 domestic draft and well drinks), I couldn't deny that. Most bars offer the same typical foods but at Wayward they have a full menu that includes Tex-Mex dishes, sandwiches and burgers, and also the usual pub favorites such as homemade shepherd's pie and fish and chips. I hadn't eaten before leaving home, so our group ordered the flautas and buffalo chicken strips. For bar food, both were pretty good since I was not expecting that. They also have a few flat-screen TVs broadcasting most sporting events so it is also a great place to go and watch your favorite team play although there is a bias to Pittsburgh.
