As others have stated I have also been eating La Rosa pizza my entire life. I grew up in Skevanston (yes it does exist) and La Rosa has always been my pizza measuring stick. Simply put, it is outstanding/excellent thin crust pizza. I moved away from the Chicago area several years ago, but I always seem to be to squeeze in a quick visit to the Golf and Crawford intersection.
La Rosa has been around for generations and my parents claimed to have enjoyed their first date together there in the mid '60s. I love to read comments about the lack of customer service/rudeness at LaRosa. Personally I always thought the quality of the pizza more than compensated for the kindness (or lack of it) of the workers. I have fond memories of learning some of my favorite "four letter words" and insults from Jimmy at La Rosa. It is nice to read that his son has carried on the tradition.
By far my favorite pizza place to order delivery from. Always fresh, lots of toppings and the delivery is super quick. Also, my driver always calls when he's close. It's a little pricier than other places, but it's not unreasonable and absolutely worth it. This pizza is delicious, I've ordered here from many times, I don't understand how they could get one single bad review! Very consistant!
Review Source:Pizza's OK. Â Good if you like soggy thin crust pizza. But not my cup of tea. Plus the service here is horrible... As a customer I expect my patronage to be appreciated. SO when I come through the door, I'm expecting a warm smile, welcoming me in ... Not some dude who makes me feel awkward for stepping foot into his business to pick up a pizza. Work on your service buddy.. I for one won't be coming back here. If I could I would give this place a zero star.
Review Source:I wrote La Rosa a bad review in the past because I got horrible service. I decided to give them another shot since I live so close to them. I walked in to pick up my order and they refused to give it to me because they recognized my name/pic. on yelp. The guy flat out said, I'm not giving you your order, I read your review. What ever happened to taking the constructive criticism and trying to improve. OR maybe this is business, no need to take it personally! Â Last time I ever go there.
Review Source:Whoa,  Dude was in fire today!  There were like four employees hangin around an old TV   I walked in since I was fillin up gas next door to grab some grub and the owner was like hell no amigo.  I saw what you wrote on yelp about us.  And I was like yeah.  Freedom of speech  I said what I'm sayin now.  Pizzas alright but the service blows.  U wanna keep it personal and not business Then you'll run daddy's business into the ground.  See ya in five years. I called in an order.  Looks like they can sit on it and keep it warm.  Â
Personally, Â a real businessman or woman should address customers concerns and not act like cowardly apron man.
We had this pizza after a long day of moving someone in. My brother actually asked a person walking by for a good thin crust pizza. This place makes a great thin crust and the sausage was real good. They were fast at making it and we didn't have to wait very long for it as well. If were ever in this area again we'll be getting a pie from these folks.
Review Source:We ordered an XL pepperoni pizza from here last night and I LOVED it. My fiance didn't care for it too much but he doesn't really care for thin crust pizza anyways. I wasn't feeling too well so I only had a few pieces (rather thankful for that) because otherwise I would have been fighting my kids for more. My son raved about it saying this pizza saying "mommy this is some good pizza"! Lol
Only con is that an XL pizza here is about the size of a L at most other places. There will definitely not be enough to feed 2 adults and 2 kids so grab some cheese sticks or something to go with.
After the cafe that I work at received an unwarranted bad review, I really wanted to write a good review of a place that really deserved it. Â I've been going to La Rosa for years, and I've always been impressed. Â I believe this is consistently the best thin crust pizza in the Evanston/Skokie area. Â I usually ask for my pizza well done because I like it extra crispy. Â If you order a sausage pizza you will not be disappointed my friend!
Review Source:We walked in for a small cheese thin crust pizza for carryout. The 12 inch pizza cost $10.50 with tax. The crust was crispy, the tomato sauce was very good although not quite exceptional and the mozzarella was very good also.
This pizza was worth it and I can recommend it. The folks were nice, too.
Let me settle the dispute. Â If you grew up on old school Chicago-style thin pizza, you'll like this place. Â A lot. Â If you are not from Chicago, or are not familiar with tavern-style, super thin, cut in square pizza, you probably won't get it/ like it too much. Â The non-pizza stuff (salads, beefs, etc) are actually pretty good as well.
Review Source:After NU's staple of Papa John's or Sarpino's, you want a break from that terrrrrrrible excuse for a pizza. Enter La Rosa.
Best thin crust pizza. Ever. Crispy. Evenly baked. The sauce was curiously good too. There wasn't too much of it on the pizza, but it goes hand in hand with the thin crust "feel". I guess the only qualm I could have is that the pizza was a little bit "salty" but for cured meats, it makes sense. Also, they square cut the pizza without asking, which is awesome!
The service was efficient and the delivery is super fast / the pizza was hot when it got here.
Would definitely recommend to all friends/Yelpers and will DEFINITELY be ordering from here again.
The high reviews for this place don't make sense. Â I lived in the city just a couple miles from downtown for the past 11 years; lived in Manhattan for a year, and have had pizza from all over. Â I just moved to Skokie 8 months ago and still looking for a great pizza place. Â This pizza is just ok if that.
I ordered Delivery; the person that took my order was very nice. Â The pizza arrived in about 30 minutes and the driver was nice. Â I ordered a large La Rosa Special and Stuffed mushrooms. Â The food arrived hot. Â However, the pizza was soggy and every time I picked up a slice it folded over and the toppings fell off. Â The stuffed mushrooms were mostly burnt.
Oh well....
I have recently been introduced to this place and I am thrilled with it. Â This is some of the best pizza and pasta I have ever tasted. Â The sauce is perfect and the cheese is delicious. Â Just the right amount of ingredients, sauce and cheese. Â I cannot say enough about this food and I found the staff to be friendly and accommodating. Â If you have not tried this place, do so!
Review Source:Even though - my review details are not very favorable (see below) - I did receive a very kind response from the owner which was acceptable to me as a customer. They kindly offered me to make up for their bad day - and this is what I call a business that admits to making mistakes but is also willing to put the extra effort in to do better. Thank you.
I decided that I will go back to La Rosa and try to order pizza again - I am not looking forward to an excellent pizza and maybe this time a better experience.

Well, if you want customer service and a nice person to order your pizza go somewhere else.
I went to La Rosa, which I ordered pizza from - excellent pizza, for 15 years.
I went with my parents to La Rosa 2 weeks ago and tried to order a large pizza with 2 different toppings for each half side - which was already hard because the waiter wouldn't understand. Which is really okay. But he took off not saying a word. So, I went to the guys making the pizza by the counter to ensure my order was received and to revise what ever they had. This young gentlemen there seemed very much to not care really about me being there at all, as he tried to ignore me even when I tried to chat with him in the most polite manner.
I then asked him if I should leave and he said I DON'T CARE! I have enough to do ...
I was stunned by this - looked at him - and took my order which was scribbled on a piece of paper - crushed it - and took my parents and left.
I really loved this pizza all those years but due to his behavior I not support any of their business nor will I return and order pizza again.
The owner should know better not to hire rude folks because eventually business will suffer no matter how good the pizza is.
:-(
Good bye La Rosa.
La Rosa Pizza on Golf is located on Golf Road just west of Crawford Avenue in a small strip shopping center. There is off-street parking in front of the building.
The business was established at this location in 1957. They advertise this on their menu, but I don't know if it's owned by the founding family. The interior is straight out of the '50s, but on a recent visit I found the east interior wall down to its studs (no dry wall). It was rather amusing to see a customer eating pizza in a booth next to a wall with exposed studs. Is this a health code violation?
The menu is extensive with thin, pan and stuffed pizzas. They also offer sandwiches, ribs, pasta, chicken and many other dishes. On this visit I ordered a thin crust pizza, which I rate as average for a neighborhood pizza joint. For thin crust I prefer Lou Malnatti's.
The staff is okay. I had to wait fifteen minutes over the quoted time for my pizza. No excuse or apology was made for the delay.
La Rosa has been at this location for over 50-years, so they must be doing something right. It's just not my favorite.
La Rosa has the best thin crust pizza hands down. I usually dont care for thin crust and this is the only place I will get it. Â The only problem I have is when I pick up my pie and the owners son is there. Â He is just mean and abusive to his employees. It kind of ruins the pizza experience. Â The owner though is old school and awsome.
Review Source:I joined Yelp just to write a review for La Rosa.  I've been going here for over 30 years, and hands down this is the best thin crsut pizza in the WORLD!  Fantastc taste.  Jimmy, the owner, seems to live there!  The pastas and salads are delicous as well.  Make sure  you get the Italian dressing on your salad. YUM!  If you don't get a pizza then try the Lasagna with meat sauce.  AWESOME!
Review Source:Awesome thin crust! Â Best thin crust since the jersey shore. Â I challenged them with a lot of toppings and the pizza came out piping hot and crispy crunch. Â
I would not recommend eating in. Â There is no beer and the interior is not too appealing. Â It is really set-up for take out.
Definitely recommend you try this pizza. Â well worth it.
There's a reason to go to La Rosa's beyond the food - time. Â There was a time when joints like this were all over the United States. Â Now they are not. Â Seems that if you want to sell good Italian food you have to recreate the canali of Venezia or Trestevere of Roma shades of Epcot Center. Â It used to be that you'd go with your friends, grab an empty table, fill up on good inexpensive food and not give a damn about anything else around you. Â You didn't have to sit in a Fiat 550 converted into a dinner table to know you were having a good time and eating good food. Â That's what La Rosa's is about. Â Food. Â Yeah, it's not the worlds best but there's only a couple of places in the entire city that can make that claim. Â It is really good. Â It will satisfy you and there'll be plenty left over. Â Always fresh and made by the hands of the family that've been carrying out a daily ritual for generations, it puts you back to a time and place when things in America were real. Â It's that simple. Â Or you can order out and pop in a Rick Steves visits the CinqueCittas and pretend. Â Me, I'll grab one of the red leather booths, make sure we have a good conversation going and joke around with the familia as they watch a little bit of the evening news in between spinning the dough.
Review Source:If you are a thin crust lover La Rosa is the delivery pizza for you! Â You can order it however you like, well done, light or extra tomato sauce and it will always arrive hot and to your liking! Â I live three blocks away and I have La Rosa almost once a week because it is delicious and quick! Â While there are booths there this is not a place you go to and expect to be served. Â Plus the family is extremely friendly and hard working!
Review Source:This is a family-run delivery business, and if I am not mistaken, La Rosa has been in business for decades. I dropped in twice, once I had a sandwich for lunch, and once with a friend for dinner. The pizza, while not the absolute best, was very good. Their business is mostly delivery. The people were very friendly too. I love hot and fresh pizza, so I eat in, and I think they appreciate you coming in for their pizza very much. This is not a place where you go for a date thou. But if you are around the area and is bored, go there and I am sure you can have an interesting chat with the delivery people.
Credit cards accepted.

This is the best thin crust pizza in Chicago. Â Nay, this is the best thin crust pizza in the world. Â I grew up in a house just a few blocks away back in the days before delivery and Dominos. Â Now I live in Evanston, thankfully still in delivery distance. Â I'm sitting here waiting for one of their thin crust sausage pizzas right now. Â My mouth is watering just typing about it.
Oh man. Â This is going to be one tasty pizza. Â It will not be covered with one shred of franchise or machine. Â This will be a hand made thing of beauty, and it will taste just like pizza tasted when the cavemen made it back in Cave Italy.
Can you believe it's almost here? Â Every minute will last an hour. Â I am so hungry. Â I want this pizza to be in my mouth right now, and I want to wash it down with a cold can of Coke.
For a slice, it's Gigio's, hands down. Â For a pizza, you just can't do better than La Rosa's.
