Such a charming surprise with one weird quirk. Â First, the highlights:
1) Â The appetizers: Â Yummy with a beautiful presentation. Â I've had the mussels, the curry pillows (which remind me of Indianesque empanadas), beef carapaccio, and the antipasta dish. Â They were all great, but the standouts were the beef carappacio and the antipasta dish (which, by the way, is also so pretty to look at). Â
2) Â The entrees: Â Also yummy. Â I tried the moo krob (thai pork with sticky rice) on my first visit. Â I've always associated pork in thai dishes with shredded pork, but the pork here is a big chuck of meat, like a steak. Â On my second visit, I tried the house-smoked duck, Â Also very good... would just be nice with a side of bread or something. Â I guess you can always ask. Â I tried my friend's pasta dish on my last visit, it was good but way too salty. Â
3) Â The dessert: Pretty good. Â I've tried both the s'mores sundae and the coconut mango coupe. Â Both were served in a tall, narrow glass and are meant to be eaten with a spoon. Â Both were good, but I prefer cake-type desserts to desserts in tall glasses. Â That's just me.
4) Â The service: Â Good. Â Our waiters both times were attentive, friendly, and on the spot. Â No complaints.
5) Â The ambiance: Â Too cool. Â The crowd is diverse, ranging in age as well as in "type" - you have the hipsters, the douche-bags, the highland park princesses, the regular ole' joes, etc. Â :) Â The interior is also cool. Â Large panels of the wall are (what appear to be) large chalkboards with unexpected images drawn on them. Â
Finally, the quirk -- I met three friends there at about 6:15 on a Friday night. Â Two of the girls arrived there at around 6, when the tables were about 25 percent occupied. Â When they checked in with the hostess and told her they would wait at the bar for the rest of the party, the hostess informed them there would be a 45-minute-wait. Â Come again?? Â When I arrived there at 6:15, the tables were still mostly unoccupied. Â Thankfully, when we checked in with the hostess at around 6:45, we were seated right away. Â The wait turned out to be relatively short, and we really didn't mind it. Â But we couldn't help but be weirded out by the experience. Â
All in all, Lark in the Park is still pretty good in my book and I'd definitely keep going back.
Very cool atmosphere and bar scene. Chalk art from local artists was great.
Very knowledgable and talkative server.
Food was good to great. Scallops were a bit overdone (chewy), ribs were very hearty and tasty and grilled bread rocked! The mango sorbet / cocounut ice cream desert was sublime.
If you like mixed drinks, don't miss their drink menu. Some unique wines and beers plus a nice brewed root beer.
I have been to Lark on two occasions. Once for lunch, and again for a full on evening out to dinner. Â Both times I was impressed by the food and the space. Â
Lunch was the lamb burger which was inventive and interesting. Â Great middle eastern flavors against an American staple. Â Dinner started with drinks that were awesome, mine being a craft beer that was great enough to be the drink of choice throughout the meal as well. Â Appetizers were a great mix of flavors. Â Entrees: The smoked duck over quinoa was great. Very tender and turned out to be a good match with the Revolver beer I had brought to the table and continued with. Â My wife had the scallops which were their own range of flavors and were cooked perfectly as well.
Wait staff was there when you needed them, and disappeared when you wanted to be dining. Â Desserts were also inventive and we felt the portion size was adequate. Â The cost seems right as well based both on the level of the food and the place itself. Â If I had to find something to be critical about I would say they need to work out the kinks with the seemingly nervous and inexperienced hostess staff. Â There were so many of them yet they seemed to struggle to figure out when to seat people and how to handle patrons as they entered. Â You had to navigate some of that yourself.
Had lunch here yesterday and really enjoyed it. There were four of us and we did have a reservation at 12:30, but it looked as if we could have gotten a table without the reservation. The food was really good and our waiter, David was extremely friendly while at the same time totally professional. We asked for recommendations and he was happy to give them. Â You could tell he had eaten the various entrees and was knowledgable about them. Being a weekday, most of the patrons were business people or "ladies who lunch." Â I felt a little underdressed in jeans but was not treated as if it mattered.
I had a salad that was one of the specials with quinoa, fingerling potatoes, corn, and baby greens. Two of my companions had the avocado and sprout sandwich and the other had the steak and frites. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food. We all had dessert too since this was a birthday celebration. Mine was a parfait of mango sorbet, coconut ice cream, and other yummy tidbits. It was so good I'm going to try to figure out how to make it at home.
Overall, we really enjoyed everything and I will definitely go back.
Almost forgot to mention the art. Chalk drawings around the walls by local artists were a great touch. Whoever thought of that was genius. Â Free art that is fun and amazing.
Any restaurant that offers a beautiful selection of cheeses for dessert gets an A in my book. Lark on the Park deserves all of the great reviews it's getting. The food is really, really good. There are interesting, well thought out dishes. Everything has a little twist that you don't expect but gives each dish something special. Wine list is ok but in my opinion could be much, much better to pair with the kind of food being served.
Review Source:I don't often give five star reviews, but when I do it's for establishments like Lark On the Park. I'll begin at the beginning. I took my wife there to celebrate her birthday. We both have been wanting to check out the Klyde Warren Park and this seemed like a good way to do both -- eat and explore. We went early 11:15 am expecting to have lunch but were pleasantly surprised to learn that they are now offering weekend brunch. To be succinct, it was truly a five star experience. The venue itself is trendy without being self conscious. They feature the work of local artists on their chalkboard walls with new offerings quarterly. The brunch menu, though spare, had enough variety to satisfy most any palate. We started with the pastry sampler made in house. A great way to start.  My wife had the Eggs Benedict and I had the tomato pastry which was tasty, interesting and satisfying. I also had a side of house made sausage. Again, very good. My wife had a Bloody Mary which included a jalapeño as garnish and I had the iced tea which came with a shot of simple syrup. She didn't, by the way, offer to share her drink with me. As good as the food was, I have to add that the service was a big plus. Attentive, knowledgable and friendly. Our server went out of the way to describe the menu. And he was available without being obtrusive. If you've been by Klyde Warren Park you know that parking is at a premium. But covered valet parking is complimentary.  Oh, and don't be intimidated by the upscale appearance. You're as likely to see jeans and shorts as suits and ties. After all, it's Lark On the Park.
Review Source:I was really hoping for and expecting better. The Charcuterie and Curry Pillows were very good, the cocktail I had was the Strawberry Porton and that was stellar. Where they fell short was service. The timing of everything was off and the server literally disappeared leaving our glasses empty for just under ten minutes. She wasn't gone forever - she showed up again but was un-apologetic. Given it's proximity to where I live, I would give them another chance for cocktails and appetizers to see if I have a different experience but I would have been severely disappointed that night if I had opted for dinner.
Review Source:I randomly popped here for a quick drink before a meet up at Klyde Warren. Talk about a great location. Right off Woodall Rogers and I think the only restaurant near the park, the crowd definitely was more "Uptown." The venue decor is really nice and I liked the extended bar. There were definitely a few eats I'll have to come back and try. I really liked the private room in the corner... Mental Note: host a happy hour or networking event here. Parking wasn't an issue since they provide complimentary valet on the side.
Review Source:Cons:
1. I made a reservation for four and arrived on-time. I walked up to the host/hostess table behind two older caucasian women who were being led to their table.
The hostess looked at me and said "I'm sorry, we don't have any more walk-ins available". I promptly responded back at her that I had a reservation for four. She seemed taken back and embarrassed at her immediate assumption and asked me if I was Omar. I said no and told her my name for the reservation. She then said "Yes, we have your reservation".
I was surprised that she didn't even say hello or ask me if I had a reservation. I'm not sure what the motivation was behind her assumption that I didn't have a reservation, but it does make you wonder--doesn't it?
2. The restaurant is located next door to a beautiful public park, but there are no kid-size portions on the menu. I understand not wanting to turn your restaurant into a Chuck-E-Cheese's, but I don't want my friend to have to get two adult grilled cheese sandwiches for his five year old twins.
Pros:
1. Our server was very kind, friendly, informative and attentive.
2. We were seated outdoors and there were umbrellas to shade us. It felt great outside and the umbrella helped a lot.
3. I had the banh mi which was made with pork belly---while it was delicious, boy could you taste the BELLY in that pork belly---meaning it was fatty and I think fat/oil dripped out as I bit into the sandwich...but I knew what I was getting into.
Had dinner there on a Saturday night with friends... what a waste of time and money! Â The scallops & risotto were flavorless, the pork was sitting in grease and the lamb burger was like a bad guest that hung around for days. Â The servers are inexperienced and the wine list was a joke. Â For the caliber of restaurant Lark in the Park claims to be and for what they charge, it could not have been more of a disappointment.
Review Source:Oh what a refreshing experience. Â We managed to get reservations for 10 of us on a Saturday night for 9. Â Unfortunately when we go there it was packed. Â However the manager, Dustin, acknowledged this and bought us a lot of drinks to keep us happy. Â By the time we sat down and received our food it was 11 PM. Â
I ordered the Lamb Shank which was excellent ($28). Â My wife ordered the Scallops - fantastic. Â A friend ordered the Grilled Texas Hangar Steak ($29) and all I can say is WOW! Â If it helps, I've eaten at nearly every awesome steak house in the DFW area an this one was superb!
The art on the walls is amazing. Â The service was fantastic. Â All in all a very refreshing experience and will definitely return. Â Thanks Dustin and team. Â Y'all rock.
Excellent food and great ambiance. Â Not sure what the big fuss is about reservations; came in 10pm-ish right after the Arts District summer block party, and it was 20 min wait for inside, immediate availability for outside. All food was super fresh and very inspired - the summer salad, the mussels, and the grilled shrimp. But dessert took the cake- so to speak. Â If you even suspect you might like coffee ice cream, the s'mores sundae is not to be missed. Â
Definitely planning to return.
We stopped in around 5pm after a Sunday in Dallas and had a drink and the cheese plate. Â The cheeses were good, but they only gave us four pieces of bread for five cheeses, so we requested some more bread. Â We were a little surprised when they charged us $2 for another four pieces of bread. Â Guess next time we'll take our own loaf. Â
Pretty place in a pretty location, but typical overpriced, overhyped Dallas restaurant.
Gorgeous space with a very long bar that was also easy on the eyes. Â Whether you consider yourself one of the 'beautiful people' or not, you'll feel like one while dining here. Â But it's not just some trendy foodie spot, it's a Gastropub-- a segment of the restaurant world that is currently a tad under-represented in the DFW area. Â I had a beautifully cooked hangar steak, he had a terrific house pasta dish (and started with a grilled leek salad-- very spanish, very unique, a tad heavy on the sauce but otherwise very nicely executed). Â Everything tasty, with plenty of excellent beer from a well-balanced, high quality All Craft tap wall. Â Pricey, but worth every penny- we thoroughly enjoyed our early afternoon here in prime seats at the bar (service was a tad spotty, but we think it was a shift change, not a big issue). Â Word to the wise- this place is still crazy popular, make reservations or come at an off-hour.
Review Source:This place opened right after I moved away. Sooooo....on a spontaneous visit back to the Big D to see family, Â I made it a point to have dinner here with my sisters. It was pretty quiet on a Monday night, but the service was still very good. I actually know Laurel, the pastry chef. She is pretty awesome, so I was excited to see her as well! Tell her I said hi and that I sent you ;-)
We started with the assorted cheese plate and some specialty drinks. I can't recall the names of the 3 cheeses, but they were all very good. My fave cheese was a hard cheese with a rosemary ash crust. We shared the grilled Texas hangar steak (cooked medium) and the Cape Cod scallops with risotto and a side of asparagus. All very delicious, cooked perfectly, flavored and seasoned perfectly. The only thing is that the portions didn't really fill me up. So, I was obviously still hungry for dessert...again, very small portions. We had the sticky toffee pudding, while very tasty, I have to say that it isn't as good as the Sticky Toffee Pudding you used to get at Craft/The W Dallas. We also had the Apple Cinnamon Coupe, which is a trifle of ice-cream, apple cinnamon compote and a crunchy biscuit/cookie layered in a tall glass. Very refreshing and yummy! And while the ice-creams aren't made in house (which is admittedly disappointing), they do come from Henry's, which is a famous local spot that makes their own. The last dessert we tried was my favorite....b/c I am a self proclaimed CHOCOHOLIC! The Dark Chocolate Pot de Creme was perfectly creamy and sweet, with just a hint of bitter chocolate at the after taste...it was served with house made cinnamon-sugar donut holes and whipped cream. To die for!
I have to say, this place is pretty pricey, so be prepared to splurge. The service is exceptional, the food is fresh and delectable, and the location is great (right across from Klyde Warren Park and a few blocks from the newly opened Perot Museum).
I am a fan!
Went for drinks and dessert around 9pm (after a big dinner elsewhere) and this place was hoppin'! Our plan was to grab a spot at the bar, but after realizing that everyone else apparently had the SAME idea, we opted to sit outside along the sidewalk. It was a good decision because the people-watching was really pretty stellar.
Really nice selection of beer and plenty of wines by the glass. I had Sticky Toffee Pudding, served with a melty scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and it was delish! My husband had the chocolate pot de creme, which he made quick work of (despite the fact that he would've preferred milk chocolate to dark -- to each his own).
This restaurant seriously has one of the best locations in Dallas, and it's obviously developing quite a fan base. Note to self: next time, we'll need a reservation.
Hark the herald of blah blah blah. Â Lark is awesome.
My home-girl and I went for a ladies date night out, sans our MP's. Â I got there a little before our reservation (def make one) and before her, so I plopped my tush at the bar. Â I ordered the Kremlin. Â Mmmmm. Â Vodka. Â It was so refreshing, strong and delicious and WTH?? All the bartenders are super fiiiiine. Â Super duper fiiiine. Â
Our reservations were at 8pm and we sat at 8:05, awesome table! It looks like all the tables are pretty decent people watching. Â I mean and there is tons to watch! Â Our waiter (or manservant I like to call him) was awesome. Â We had tons of questions "What are you known for? Â What's your favorite dish? Â Are you single?" Normal questions you ask your waiter.
We started with the cheeseboard, you can choose either 3 or 5. Â We opted for 3 since we were both getting entrees. Â He chose for us! Â A smoky manchego (always a fav), a soft goat and then brie with lava ash in it?! Â I dunno, that one was strange, but the board itself was great. Â Marcona almonds, raisins, figs...etc. Â Yummo.
For dinner I ordered the seared scallops with creamy risotto with a lemon(?) butter herb sauce and (I think) saffron and mashed peas. Â OH. MAH. GAW. Fo realz. Â Seriously one of the top 5 BEST scallop dishes I've ever eaten. Â I know what you're thinking, scallops - really? Â I feel like since scallops are easy to make, you have higher room for error. Â No error messages here. Â My home-girl got the lamb shank with Israeli cous cous, crack with heroin drizzled right on top. Â This to was so amazing, I definitely had food envy (for about 5 seconds). Â We were both SUPER happy with our choices. Â
Another thing I really liked is that when my friend told the waiter she was allergic to pine nuts (which come in the lamb), he assured us he would take care of it. Â AND he did!! He also mentioned they keep an epi pen in the back (good to know?!).
For dessert we got the donut holes with chocolate mousse. Â No other explanation needed here.
The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars (and I know this is silly), is that it is so loud in the place. Â Really loud and there were times were we didn't see our manservant for a while. Â Not that anything was an emergency, but ya know. Â Also, the floors are super slippery, I almost fell twice in my heels. Â It could also just be me, cause i'm clumsy. Â
The service is otherwise truly fantastic. Â Water glasses always full, plates taken when done. Â Super nice hostesses, bartenders and waiters.
A great new addition to Uptown/Downtown Dallas. Â They have an awesome patio, but it was so sticky to sit outside, but I can see how that would be amazing in the spring overlooking Klyde Warren Park.
OH! Get your $20 valet ticket validated and its complimentary! Boo yea.
See you soon my lark pet.
First the pros: gorgeous decor, new "hotspot" across from Klyde Warren Park, free valet, knowledgable friendly waiter, phenomenal drink menu.
Although the menu was diverse, in my opinion it was a bit limited for my taste, leaving me to choose between only two of the main entrees listed. I unfortunately chose wrong in my ordering of the coq au vin, which the menu boasts about. My coq au vin arrived, it was beautifully plated, yet disappointing from first bite. The coq (chicken) was bland. Even more disappointing was the gnocchi, which was overcooked and flavorless. Equally bland mushrooms and broth accompanied the dish, for all around disappointment in my entree selection. My dining companions ordered the lamb, scallops and duck - which were all far more flavorful than my own. I do want to return to this restaurant again, but next time will order something else!
Meh. Maybe I should have ordered something other than a salad. A small group of us went to lunch here one day- it is in our building so we didn't have to worry about any parking issues. Overall, if you don't care about eating healthy, I'm sure this place is good. The lunch menu was pretty small. I was underwhelmed but the cocktail menu looked interesting. Another pretentious Dallas trend spot.
Review Source:Wow. This is my new favorite restaurant in Dallas.
The food is excellent, the alcoholic beverage list is superb, the service is absolutely top notch and the location is ideal.
Since this restaurant opened, it has immediately become my new go-to in Dallas. Situated across the street from the new Klyde Warren Park, the location is ideal for activities and for people watching.
Currently, my order of choice is the lamb shank with Mediterranean inspiration and the St. Arnold Endeavor with Texas roots. The ribeye is also to die for. Honestly, I don't think you could place a bad order from this menu.
To top matters off, the service here is some of the best I've experienced in awhile. After visiting Lark a few times over the past four months, a former server (they're all great but ask for Gabe) came up to our table (we had a different server) and told my wife and I now much he enjoyed serving us. Wow.
I can't wait for my return trip to Lark on the Park and I hope you all don't beat me to my table.
Perfect location: Klyde Warren Park is Dallas's new "look at me on Facebook" park.
Delish menu- They have a lunch, afternoon and dinner menu.
Amaze drink menu- Impressive craft beers on tap and cute girly drinks too.
Great spot for a after church meal, family dinner, office lunch, girls' happy hour or date night.
Definitely need to check it out if you haven't already!
Mama and I went to check out this restaurant which sits right on the side of Klyde Warren Park on a Saturday afternoon during Mother's Day weekend. There were tons of families out and about so we decided to grab a table right on the patio to do some people watching. I had a delicious crisp Spanish white wine and mama had a basil lime fizzy drink and we enjoyed a tasty board of cheeses, dried fruits and nuts. We also split the Coq Au Vin dish as our main entree. The chicken was tender and well seasoned and the mushroom sauce was yummy! I loved the variety on the menu. Our server was super sweet. They are building another restaurant right across the street. Love what they are doing with this area! I will definitely be back!
Review Source:This is going to be a short review and my check in will likely be more substantial. It is hard a judge a fine dining restaurant when you don't eat but I bet a lot of people like me will end up popping into the bar for some refreshments when visiting Klyde Warren Park so consider this a bar only review.
The bar was great. It looked great with the cool chalk art above bar. I loved the smartly done selection of beer and we were well attended to even though we were there on what was a very busy Saturday. The bartenders did good a job of balancing of being friendly and personable with efficiency which is not easy when you are so busy.
I'm not comfortable giving any place 5 stars with such an incomplete experience but I had a good visit to the bar. Â I look forward to eating there and then seeing if they can get the 5th star.
Order the Moo Krob! Â It was tender and flavorful while the Market Fish was good but not particularly impressive. Â The Kremlin came in a copper mug, a whimsical presentation for a cocktail. Â It does not have just a hint of ginger, it absolutely tastes like ginger! Â
We went on a Sunday evening and there were only a few other tables of people. Â Overall it was a great experience, I'll definitely be going back!
Had the Thai Pork dish which was decent, nothing special. Had a Vodka Ginger beer cocktail that was tasty similar to Bolsa. The windows to the park are nice and the location will probably help them. For the price for what you get, I think there are other options in the area that deliver.
Review Source:This place is amazing... the food is fantastic.. and in a couple of months when construction across the street is finished and opened up the patio at Lark will be the place to BE! I've dined here twice... once was during spring break when the weather was beautiful, so we took advantage and sat outside! You could feel the vibrancy of the NEW Dallas outside and what a way to spend an afternoon... on my first visit,we had great cucumber cocktails on the patio and a great salad. On this visit me and my friend split our plates and had the chef's recommendations. We split both the Lam Burger which was awesome, and a really nice Duck sandwich with a Vietnamese twist, that was very tasty. We will definitely return soon, especially with them opening up for Sunday brunch soon!
Review Source:Lark on the Park is an essential addition for the Arts District and Klyde Warren Park. Â Chalkboard art decor bordered the ceiling and walls. Â The waiter encouraged us to have our artistic friends submit their artwork for a chance to be displayed. Â The restaurant was spacious and open with many windows. Â The cuisine is eclectic, small portions and could use some more options for with an ambiguous palette. Â When I was here on a Monday evening, Laura Bush was at the table right next to us and I knew it was her because of the secret service men and she had such elegant and poise. Â So don't be surprised if you see local celebrities here.
Review Source:I had the asparagus tart which was a great combination of foods I would never think to put together - pastry, asparagus, prosciutto, and a fried egg - but some of my favorite things to eat so I thought it was delicious. My husband had the beef burger which he said was also delicious (and he is particular when it comes to burgers!).
The drawings on the chalkboards are beautiful and really make the decor special. Our waiter was also fantastic. His name on the bill was "Buckets" and I want to compliment him on his unique/cool style from his hair to his glasses to his tattoos.
Considering that the Lark is attached to the building where I work, I'm sure I will be back. Also because I want to see the new drawings every three months. I highly recommend making a reservation as the restaurant completely filled up to capacity while we were there for lunch.
Great new addition to the Uptown Dallas dining scene! Â The restaurant sits directly across from the very popular Klyde Warren Park and is open for lunch and dinner. Â I've been twice so far...once for lunch and once for happy hour. Â
The space is great...really cool chalkboards with ever changing artwork. Â Excited to see what they come up with next. Â
The lunch menu is varied and I really enjoyed the broccoli soup and the grilled cheese. Â Just wish they would offer a 1/2 sandwich and soup as an option. Â
The happy hour wine for $7 was quite good, but wish their HH specials were better!
The service is just ok...hoping it will improve as they are open longer.
Friday night, with reservations. They had an imbalance of wait staff and people standing around at the hostess station, but the service itself was great (although slower than had the waiters/waitresses had a more reasonable number of tables to juggle). Our waitress was friendly, showed up to make sure we were doing okay often enough, and also replaced a drink that came out not to our liking. All the staff were well dressed - in a half upscale dining, half fancy hipster manner.
To start we had the charcuterie board and the leek salad. I don't eat that kind of meat, but my friend seemed pleased with the jamon in particular, and the rest of it too. There was a lot - more than one person should sensibly eat alone as an appetizer. The leek salad was amazing. There were grilled leeks, frise, an amazing mustard dressing, some smashed up croutons, and a perfectly poached egg. I would order this salad every day for the rest of my life if I could. It's a don't miss on the menu. For mains we had the house smoked duck and the coq au vin. Both were exactly as described on the menu, supple, and though my duck was fattier than I like, it was par for the course for a smoked duck breast. We had also ordered the cheese board, but thankfully our waitress forgot about it or didn't hear us so we didn't have that to doggy bag home. For drinks we had the Kremlin - which is like a moscow mule but with grapefruit juice, a drink with gin, St. Germaine and violet liqueur. That drink was well balanced, and the usual bad taste of gin was almost entirely obscured. We also had some wine with dinner - their standard by the glass Cab is acceptable, as is their white. We decided to not get dessert, but they had a special that night of rice pudding that sounded spectacular, if you have space. We did go for after dinner coffee - which was french press and just the right amount for two. Overall, the meal was definitely one I would be happy to have again with any friend or out of town visitor. The bill wasn't horrible, but not cheap either - around $170 for two mains, two apps, two glasses of wine and four drinks.
I am bad at finding the main entrance to new places, so we went in the non-main door, but a waiter helped us find the hostess station. The space itself isn't huge, but is laid out nicely, with elevated booths along the back wall and low tables throughout the dining room. The kitchen is open to the restaurant. About half of the walls are floor to ceiling windows facing Klyde Warren Park, and on the remaining walls there are huge chalkboards that have been decorated by a local artist with chalk drawings. The art was really a nice touch and made the space a lot more inviting than it otherwise would have been. They also have some outdoor seating, and the wait staff seemed capable of dealing with the folks out there just as well as those inside. I'm not sure if they have a proper bar area or not (I didn't see it from where I was seated), but Lark on the Park is definitely a spot you could go to for a few drinks and some apps and leave without entirely breaking your budget for the month.
Came here with 3 other friends on a Friday night and had a great experience. We were seated immediately, greeted by the host and server in a timely manner which is the first thing I check at any restaurant. (I used to wait tables and kind of have check points for what needs to be done for a successful dining experience) Sever was attentive  and informative. Gave us the low-down on the place, wine/beer/cocktails to look over along with a couple of his favorite apps. We ordered a beer and couple of the maple orange fashion's, which you can't go wrong with if you're a rye lover. We also go the beef carpaccio and the curry pillows. I really liked the carpaccio and am looking forward to trying the seafood stew app next go- around.
For entrees we ordered the moo krab (pork belly with stick rice), mushroom pasta, coq au vin and the braised lamb shank. I'll start with the best thing on the table, which  luckily I ordered, the braised lamb shank. The meat was so tender, no need for a knife at all, the cous cous was cooked perfectly and the feta added a richness that meshed well with the tender lamb. I got to try each entrees and they were all good, but my least favorite might be the mushroom pasta. In my opinion, it needs some more texture, but a good vegetarian option for those looking for that. On another high note, the coq au vin was amazing. The meat almost looks like pulled pork/beef since the marinade is so rich/dark and - just like the lamb - fall off the bone. Great compliments of flavor with the mushrooms and gnocchi.
As for dessert we tried the buttermilk pie with mixed citrus wedges, I'm not a huge dessert fan but this was good and somewhat light. Finish off with some french press and you're smitten:)
All in all, it was a great, solid meal and not as expensive as expected. I'll definitely be back, this time for lunch to scope it out. Plus when the weather gets nice and the patio is up and running this will be my go-to spot when I'm anywhere near Klyde Warren.
Recently enjoyed a romantic dinner at Lark on the Park and very much enjoyed it. I brought flowers to have placed on the table beforehand, and the hostesses happily obliged while I waited for my guest to arrive. We were placed at a table in the corner by the windows, which look out toward Klyde Warren Park. The view will be nicer once the construction is done, but it was still pleasant as it was.
From an ambiance perspective, Lark on the Park does a nice job. They play an eclectic music mix, which I enjoyed. The lighting was just right. And even though the floor plan is totally open, the spacing of the tables provides for intimate individual settings.
In terms of consumption, the highlight for me was the drinks. If you're a whiskey/bourbon drinker, definitely try the Smoked Manhattan. It's excellent. If you want a big of a different margarita taste and texture, the Lark Margarita is worth trying as well. The best of the bunch - which the bartender and servers will tell you - is The Kremlin. Not only does it come in a fun copper cup, but it tastes delicious. Just enough sweetness for the typical palette of a lady, but not one that a man should feel ashamed imbibing.
As for the food, this is where I was a bit underwhelmed. The Curry Pillows were okay, but nothing special. The Moo Krob is good if you like pork, but if you aren't a fan of fatty meats, steer clear. Just okay. The food itself is not worth the price, but the overall experience of the restaurant makes up for it.
I'd definitely go back, and I recommend giving it a try.
Lark on the Park is one of the next big restaurants in Dallas, no doubt. Â 5-star experience from the moment we were greeted by the hostess until we left. Â We were going to a show downtown and needed to be finished within an hour of our reservation, and they had us in and out with no problems.
On top of the professional, friendly service and amazing food, the ambiance is spot on for a trendy, local hangout. Â The color scheme is fresh and modern, and the walls are adorned with local artist's chalk drawings which are changed out every 3 months...do I need to go on?! Â This place rocks! Â It's such a refreshing concept!
We thoroughly enjoyed our cocktails...Lark Margarita (with egg whites? yes!) and The Horned Lark. Â I'm looking forward to trying more of the cocktail menu.
For our meal, we started out with an amazing 3-cheese cheese board that was served with raisins, marcona almonds, dates, and a small portion of fruit jelly. Â Excellent cheese choices, nothing too common or too "out there". Â I had the Wild Mushrooms Pappardelle...whoa! Â This dish was wonderful. Â If you like mushrooms and pasta, order this now. Â The perfectly thin sheets of pasta, array of mushrooms, and wonderfully light sauce were an incredible combination. Â This was another one of those "I'll never be able to try anything else on the menu; it was so good" item. Â Hubs had the salmon special with lentils, beets, and a horseradish sauce, and he devoured it with great reviews as well. Â We found everything to be priced fairly, with entrees on their Spring Menu running $18-28.
Guys, start taking notes. Â Make an 8:00 PM reservation, and take your date for a stroll in Klyde Warren to watch the sun go down with an awesome view of downtown. Â Head over to Lark for cocktails and dinner...double score.
This was an amazing addition to Uptown!
Not impressed. Located right next to Klyde Warren Park, after all of the new and exciting reviews from the eating blogs around Dallas my husband and I ate dinner tonight. I give one star for the beautiful ambiance and decor and the very nice wait staff, and one for the drinks and appetizers.
The meals were just not good. My husband had the scallops and was upset that he paid $30 for 3 scallops. He also said he felt like the entire meal was uncle ben's rice mixed with peas and oil. My duck breast had a beautiful presentation of quinoa and cumquats, and the breast tasted fine at first but after the first few bites it just started to make my stomach churn. Both of us left unsatisfied and needing a better taste in our mouths.
My advice, go for drinks and apps, or anything other than what we had.
