The coffee is really, really good. Â The food is also decent. Â The experience is lacking however.
There's a weird container with a gadget on top that spins to reveal that it contains either water or milk. Â It's probably the worst idea for a container I've ever seen. I was told that it contained half and half when I asked for half and half. Â I poured it into my mug and I'm pretty sure it was milk, not half and half. Â Uh. Oh well. Why not just put out two or three normal containers with different types of cream or milk rather than one with a spin the wheel top with a mystery substance inside?
I ordered an apple danish two days in a row last week. Â They gave me a number for my table and said they would warm them up and bring them out. Â On both days, they forgot to bring out my danish. Â No crowd, not busy or anything, just simply forgot. Finished my coffee both times first, then ate my danish 30 minutes later both times. Weird.
The music is so so. One day it was blasting loud. So loud that I could not read. The other couple of times that I was there it was not as noticeable. The girl working there did turn it down when I asked though.
Also, I really wish that I could just move down and wait for my coffee at the bar. Â The whole deal of sitting down with a number card and having a cup of coffee brought out to me is just one too many steps in the process because then I have to get right back up and walk over to the bar to add cream or whatever is in that strange container and sugar anyway. Cafe Neo did that same exact thing and I was hoping that Le Cafe would have done away with it and normalized the process a little more but they didn't change it.
Honestly, to me, the only real difference between Le Cafe and Cafe Neo besides a few small changes to the layout, etc. are the much nicer employees. Even though they don't always remember that you ordered food with your coffee. The quality of the coffee is good enough to come back for though.
Very disappointed with my brunch experience here.
My wife and I visited this past weekend, excited for what seemed like a nice little spot.
1.) The table situation doesn't work well here. It's a seat/order yourself with the food delivered to your table. While we were in line ordering someone came in and stole the last table, even though we were there first. I can't entirely blame the staff for not acting (even though the watched this unfold); however, they should realize this is not a conducive setting for brunch and should likely do seating on the weekend.
2.) My wife and I both ordered pancakes and they were solid cardboard. Seriously, the worst pancakes I've ever had. My wife didn't finish half of hers.
3.) The staff and service in general was really lackluster.
I'd definitely like to come back here and get coffee during the week. Seems like it'd be a great coffee spot. For a brunch place, absolutely terrible.
