This place is only banking on its views of the Hudson in order to attract customers. Â And the views are nice, but unfortunately, that is the only nice thing about this place. Â
I came to this restaurant to celebrate my father-in-law's birthday on a nice sunny Sunday evening. Â The restaurant was probably 1/3 full, which should tell you something. The menu itself is very limited, with just a handful of dishes, most being of the seafood variety (obviously). Â The menu skews towards deep-fried options, and the food I ordered (fish and chips) was very greasy. Â
Even though the restaurant was not crowded, it still took us a very long time to receive our food, which is never good when you are dining with a 2 and 4 year old. Â Also, the restaurant itself was dingy and rundown, with trash and uncleared plates on several tables. Â Drinks are also limited - don't expect to find craft beer options or anything other than swill wine and basic mixed drinks. Â Won't be returning.
We had guests in from the Midwest and wanted to dine with views of the Hudson. Â Now, the restaurant is opened year round. Â We sat inside as the evening was chilly. Â Jason waited on us and he was terrific! Â The food was delish and the service super! Â Then there was the view of the Tapan Zee as darkness set in. Â Hurricane Sandy was scheduled to arrive the next Monday. Â Hope the restaurant did not get flooded! Â We want to go back!
Review Source:Yeah. Three stars it is. SPECTACULAR venue. Could be so much more. We were greeted promptly and grabbed a table in the bar area near the water to enjoy a drink and wait for our table. Had to flag down a bus boy to wipe down the table. Then we pretty much had to tackle a waitress to take our drink order. Once we were engaged, our bar waitress was great. She even helped get us a dinner table quicker than we expected and took care of transferring over our bar bill. All good. Our waiter was friendly and readily answered questions about the menu. He was unsure of whether any lobsters were available but took our backup orders with no problem. When the main courses arrived the food servers got it wrong and told us "this is what the ticket says." not good
Review Source:The view from the tiki bar never gets old unlike the crowd. If you want to hang out and feel a cool breeze off the Hudson while sipping a lethally strong sangria, then the Lighthouse is the place to head to. The food is limited but even when their full menu is up and running, it's never that exciting. Come here for the views and drinkies but bring your own crowd with you to have fun and get sunburned with.
Review Source:You go here for view...period. Food was just mediocre bar food types, burgers, steaks, fish & chips, etc etc. Service was fast and sincere.
Interior is like old wedding reception hall at VFW, outdated and feel probably comfortable for older folks.
Like I said, go there in the summer and seat outdoor for the view.
The only real reason anyone goes to the Ligthhouse is for the tiki bar. Â I have never been there in the winter, so I can't really say, but I'd guess that their business is a little slower in the colder months. Â With that being said, the food is mediocre, but the views are fantastic. Â It's a nice place to sit and have a few drinks during the day or even during the evening. Â The only drawback is that they close up a little early because of noise restrictions.
Review Source:im giving it a 4 for the bar/buyback policy and the limited bar food i have had there. Â nice outdoor bar with hightops and tables. i always get at least a free drink (if not 2 or 3) and their bar food is as good as you can hope it to be. Â and from what i've seen and smelled the other dinner disher seem pretty good as well, but...havent had em. Â not a big fan of having to valet my car on a fri night to go to a bar, but ill live. Â and of course, has a great view of the hudson rive/tz bridge if your into that. Â smoking at the bar anyone??? oh yeah!
Review Source:Came here to go to their outdoor bar. Â
This place has a beautiful spot just south of the Tappan Zee Bridge. Â The views are great. Â Unfortunately, the drinks are not. Â Turpentine & food coloring. Â Wooh! Â Those were harsh. Â Decent bar food though. Â
Didn't eat in the restaurant but it kinda looked like dated old school family dining.
What can I say about the Lighthouse? Hmm. Â I gave it a B when we left, but obviously we are on the star system here, so it gets 3 stars.
D and I went on a date here last weekend. Â It was a very nice place and they even put us in the back room near the fireplace (how romantic, haha). Â But I immediately noticed, as we were the only ones in the room at the time, that there was no background music or noise. Â I thought some ghosts were going to come and sit down with us; thank god some others came into the room.
The food was good for the price, but not special. Â The service was standard, but not astounding. Â They did have a pretty big back deck with tables on it, so I can imagine that during the summer this place is pretty bumping. Â We'll have to wait and see though.
