Long Branch Saloon

For all you complaining over a $10 burger get over it! You will pay the same (probably more) at some place like TGIFridays or any other crappy chain. Burgers are fabulous, if you like potato skins, try theirs!! Excellent! FULL of toppings and much better than you'll get anywhere else. It may be a dark, hole in the wall sorta place but the food is great and the bartender that took our take out order was very nice, sincere, sweet. Give it a shot.

I had been hearing this place had great burgers forever but have never ventured out there. Boy was I missing out. The buns are AMAZING and almost the best part.

I have eaten at the Long Branch Saloon during the past 4 years on regular visits to Anchorage.  Best foods at this dark dive bar, are their hamburger selections on really soft, flavorful buns; my son-in-law craves their burgers.  This week they had a special; buffalo burgers with bacon.  Two thumbs up by two people.  I had their mushroom-swiss cheese burger.  Tasted a lot of mushroom, but I couldn't taste any swiss.  The burger was good, but this variety won't be my favorite.  The table service is prompt, cordial, and accurate.

Only one distraction during this visit, from 6-7:00 pm on a Tuesday early evening.  One of three middle-aged guys at a table was obviously drunk; he began to loudly cuss and approached the bar to loudly talk/swear at the bartenders.  Everyone in the joint was warily eyeing him to see if there would be any trouble; there wasn't, he went back to his buddies and quieted down during the duration of my meal.  Hey, it's a dive bar, whaddya expect?  If you can tolerate the occasional boisterous drunk, you have to eat one of the Long Branch Saloon burgers.  They are worth it.
