First and foremost, the food here was excellent. Â I had the calzone and a side salad, my husband had the flying pig pizza. Â Really excellent taste, quality and bang for the buck. Â I would not come here if you are in a hurry, the service was poor. Â But, to get such good food, I'll wait. :-) Â They need more waitresses for sure, our waitress had 9 tables, switched our credit card with another table, it was kind of messy. Â If the food had not been so good, I probably would not return. Â But, for the quality, we will definitely be back. Â I would sit outside next time, much quieter. Â Also good to come early, the parking is scarce. Â But once you taste the pizza, you will be a big fan.
Review Source:New to the area. Â This was formerly Wooster Tavern. Â I wanted to wait a couple of months before I tried it. I heard it was always packed. Â
We came on a early Saturday night. Â We were waited on right away. Â
I really like atmosphere, especially the neon signs. Â
Great beer selection and service. Â
As an appetizer we ordered the potato skins which was hot and delicious. Â I got a hamburger for dinner which is a decent size and was cooked the way I wanted it. Medium well. Â I got waffle fries with my burger and also was hot and yummy. Â
I would definately return. Â
Restaurant and restroom very clean.
I was looking for a party room on the east side of Cincinnati, this was for a youth basketball team. Mac's was the PERFECT venue for this. The room on the 2nd floor is big and has a very cool layout and design. We had one dedicated server, who had help from others when necessary. They did an awesome job keeping drinks full and getting food on time for 35 people.
The food was also great. We had a combination of kids meals, big pizzas, individual calzones, and sandwiches. And the draft beer list is very impressive.
We'll definitely be scheduling future parties here for soccer/basketball/scout/etc events.
If you were a student at UC then you probably already know what Mac's is. For me, it's always been a place to have a beer with friends, play some shuffleboard, and devour some late night pizza. Now that I'm older, I've moved out of the slums that is Clifton and moved into the burbs that is the wonderful land of Mariemont. I no longer drink with college friends, I drink alone. And I no longer eat pizza, I eat fruits and veggies. All kidding aside I was thrilled when I saw that they were opening a Mac's right outside Mariemont on Wooster Pike.
The main reason for my excitement wasn't the 20 beers on tap or the amazing appetizers like pretzels with beer cheese, it's their healthier menu choices. Mac's offers two different vegan pizzas and two different vegan burgers, both of which tickle my fancy.
To be quite honest, when I first went vegan I thought I had said goodbye to pizza forever. I'm here to tell you that the Tree Hugger vegan pizza is as good as the real thing. I don't know if it's the garlic butter, the mozzarella cheese or the sundried tomatoes, artichokes, and onions but this pizza is damn near perfect! And nothing about it screams vegan butter or fake cheese! They also offer a Clifton Natural Foods vegan pizza which is more like a traditional supreme pizza sans the meat of course!
The vegan burger options are made possible by the forward-thinking owners of Mac's Pub and the fine people of Five Star Foodies! This vegan based food company produces a mass selection of animal-free cuisines nationwide, and is prepared locally here in Cincinnati by awesome people. Mac's offers the artichoke or meat flavored patties and deck up it up nice with the normal burger fixins and serve it with a side dish. I'd recommend the waffle fries cause they are the shiznit here!
In all, Mac's is a great place for anyone and everyone to come eat! And now, you don't have to drive to the UC campus to relive your glory days, you can do it on the east side on Wooster Pike!
Loved Mac's. Laid back vibe, great service and great food. There were a lot of interesting options on the menu, we ordered hot pretzels and beer cheese to start. While a lot of places have beer cheese in Cinci, theirs is spicy and tastes homemade, as do the pretzels. I had the gyro pizza which was unexpected and awesome. Solid beer selection and plenty of tv's to watch the games, we'll definitely be back!
Review Source:Any restaurant /bar staff who can put up with a group of rowdy, overly-exuberant and pretty obnoxious drunken men whilst keeping smiles on their faces is going to get five stars from me. I mean, the ladies who served our party deserved a medal, or at least a fat tip - which they got.
One of our guys was hovering around the bar talking about "partying" and buying people rounds of drinks. When his bill came and he refused to pay, the bartenders were patient and understanding (probably because myself and another friend were not drunk and able to apologize (repeatedly) and take care of the situation eventually without things getting out of control.
The bill was paid, the food was excellent (I will never be able to get over the beer cheese waffle fry pizza) and they have angry orchard, my absolute fave.
So thank you to both our waitress and the bar staff, for your excellent service even amidst such ridiculousness. Next time we return we'll try to be less annoying. We can't make any promises about that, but we can promise to tip well and keep enjoying this amazing restaurant. Thanks Mac for opening one here, by the way!!!!
Mac's Pizza Pub has a new location woo! The beloved college bar location is an institution. I was very happy to see them expand. When I came here after a night of drinking I was thinking the same type of place. This restaurant/bar feels more upscale. Maybe because it's new? The restaurant is super clean and tidy and decked out with tons of memorabilia and hot sauces!!
I ordered the waffle fry pizza, (YES you heard me right) beer cheese base with waffle fries, onions, the works. Its delicious and this time was no different. Came out super hot and cheesy and was the perfect end to the night.
The service was also incredible. We had a table of 16 and our waitress was handling us all herself. And our pizza took no longer than 15 minutes. She was busting stuff out of the kitchen like crazy and was very cheerful and attentive.
If you're a fan of Mac's you'll love this place.
Arrived at Mac's with a group of 15 at 10pm last night and our experience was excellent. Â Our server Brittany handled us with ease. Â Drinks were regularly refilled and all the food came out hot and correct. Â She even split the pizzas up among the groups so we could avoid the problem of splitting up the check. Â
I recommend any of their pizzas... my favorites is the gyro, but the BBQ chicken and french fry pizzas are also contenders.
A few months ago the Wooster Tavern on Wooster Pike transformed into the second location of Mac's Pizza Pub. I went the Wooster Tavern a lot as an early twenty-something but haven't been back in many years. The second I walked through the door, over this past weekend, it was like I never left.
The layout of the building is completely the same. There is a bar area to the right as you walk in the main door on the side of the building. To the left is a small dining area and then around the corner from there is the stairwell to the upper level with even more seating, a shuffleboard table, and another small bar.
There are TV's in every corner of the building and then some. My parents joined us for dinner and my dad was really impressed by the number and quality of TV's on their walls. We will definitely have to remember that when searching for somewhere to catch a game. Plus they have a really great beer selection. I was able to finally try Mt. Carmel's Third Shift Imperial Coffee Stout. Wonderful!
For dinner we all agreed to split two medium (12) pizzas. It was the perfect amount of pizza for the four of us plus our young child. Speaking of which, every single table in the place seemed to have at least one child with them, so it's a very family friendly place.
The first pizza I tried was the Mac's Supreme ($14.49 for 12). This was loaded with pepperoni, sausage, ham, green peppers, red onions, mushrooms, and black olives before being topped with plenty of mozzarella and provolone cheese. It was basically a pretty standard supreme pizza but I really enjoyed their rather chewy hand tossed crust. The sauce was also full of flavor.
Our other pizza was the Hawaiian Heaven ($14.49 for 12). This one was topped with pineapple, ham, bacon, and a dusting of cinnamon with the same cheese blend as before. I've had the Hawaiian pizza many times before, but I don't recall ever having it with cinnamon. My parents were skeptical of this at first, but we all seemed to really enjoy the addition. It added a little extra spice to the already sweet pizza. This pie typically comes served with roasted almond slices as well, but we had them removed as I am allergic to almonds.
With an excellent selection of beer, great quality pizza, and TV's on every corner, I think we may have found a new favorite spot.
Mac's is a family pleaser. While I might go there for date night before a movie in Mariemont, where it really shines is when you need to take the kids someplace that will make everyone happy.
Their beer list is very good, the menu diverse enough to make everybody happy, and the pizza is clearly made by people who love pizza. The interior remodel has opened up the space, essentially breaking it into four different dining "rooms," each with a slightly different feel.
This would also be a great place to watch a game. Admittedly the TV volume was a bit much for my taste, but since we were there on a Sunday during NFL season it was not surprising. We will definitely be back.
Fun place to come for dinner! The pizza was very good and there is truly something for everyone, including vegetarians and those with gluten-intolerance. Decent beer menu, but ask for the menu of bottles bacause there is much more than what's on tap. Salads are huge and enough to share.
Beware if you come with a group and have to wait for a table, there is no good place for people to wait without being in the way. Parking is also a challenge, there is only one narrow way in or out and it is difficult to turn around.
Great beer selection, noisy atmosphere, tiny, skinny parking lot. Â
The "Macover" tastes like a bland pretzel and leaves you hungry for more. Â Not hungry for more "Macover", just plain hungry. Â Very loud, but the look inside was nice. Â No shortage of large HD TV's. Â Â
Good luck parking! Â One row of maybe 15 spots and nearly impossible to turn around. Â Think Austin Powers trying to turn a golf cart... Â

Hurray for the new Mac's Pizza Pub in Fairfax! I never had the opportunity to visit Wooster Tavern, but I can only imagine that the renovation has only made the space better. There a great pizza menu (with intriguing vegan and gluten free pizza options), a whole range of other pub food options, and a nice tap selection and plenty of craft beers. The bar downstairs, which I imagine is the original, is beautiful. There are plenty of tvs to watch a game while you eat, and sporty paraphenalia everywhere! The upstairs is nearly finished, with shuffleboard, darts, tvs, a second bar, and a crazy cool night sky ceiling complete with glow-in-the-dark stars. It is cooler to see than I am describing, or maybe I'm just a nerd.
Service was very friendly, there's lots of seating, and I think it will keep getting better as the new staff gets situated. Great family-friendly and casual addition to the Mariemont/Fairfax area. It already has a comforting, neighborhood feel that I just adore!
Best gluten free pizza I've ever had and good selection of gluten free beer as well. Impressed! Â I'll assume they're working on getting more help as they settle in. Our server was great and food didn't take too long (under the circumstances), but they were clearly overwhelmed in the first week. Excited to go back and would recommend as great neighborhood sports bar or place to take the kids.
Review Source:This is a relaunch of wooster tavern, with a branded makeover. Â They kept some of the old bar food standby's, but added the Mac's touch, which means, awesome pizzas, and an above average beer selection. Â
They are still in the soft opening stages, so I'm being generous because they need to figure out their staffing zones and pacing of servers, everyone was cool, and the pizza was of course, excellent. Â The tots are an excellent appetizer.
There is a top notch patio to enjoy during nice weather, and indoors, there are enough TV's to catch the game, whatever game that might be. Â Come give them a try, but be patient, at least for a little bit.
