Delicious cole slaw, best blue cheese dressing ever, perfectly cooked fresh fish, service was friendly and attentive. Homey atmosphere. Am going back again shortly.

I have been here twice for lunch.  Both times a cup of soup and a sandwich.  The first time was Manhattan clam chowder with the basa oreganata and today it was the spicy crab bisque and a crab cake sandwich.  The soups are both a 5.  Extremely hardly and big chunks of sea food.  This is definitely not diner soup.

Both sandwiches were very tasty.  My crab cake was particularly delicious but on the small side.  I should also note that the cole slaw is very good as is their tartar sauce.  Service was friendly and sufficiently attentive.

I know of people who come here for dinner but I'm not sure I'd be one of them.  The prices seem to be a lot higher at night and it isn't exactly the prettiest of places.  The bathroom is downstairs and I pretty much had to duck all the way down the steps as well as in the bathroom.

It is a small place and the kitchen looks small as well so I can see when it's busy things could be slow in coming out although I have not had this problem at lunch time noting that both times there was towards the end of the traditional lunch hour and the crowds I hear they have may have already thinned out.  (note to self:keep sentences shorter).

I am still having pleasant thoughts about the soups.

I recently came here for dinner on a Thursday night.  The reviews were right on with the service.  Soooo Slooooow.  Server was super nice and apologetic about it.
Food was barely mediocre though.  I had been in several years ago, and was thoroughly impressed with the food.  It was a shock to be presented with food that I had to salt excessively to make edible.  I won't be returning any time soon.

Food is average. Service is extremely slow. I have been here for over an hour and I am still waiting for my main course. Food comes out one table at a time. When they finish cooking for one table they start cooking for the next. Avoid if you do not want to spend 2 hours eating dinner.

Just went for lunch and had a delicious Red Snapper Oreganoto sandwich and a spicy crab bisque.  Food was great, cheap and all the fish they cook is on display there fridge-counter thing.

I've passed this place for years and recently at there for the first time with a friend.  It was terrific!  We split a bunch of things so we could try a lot of different foods and truly enjoyed everything.

The crab cakes are by far the best I've had in years.  No filler just yummy crab very delicately done.  The stuffed filet of sole (stuffed with crab that was good by not as good as the crab cakes) was very tasty and the combination platter (haddock, shrimp, scallops) had the freshest tasting scallops I've had in years.  The haddock, unfortunately, was extremely salty, but the very pleasant waitress offered a piece of a different fish instead.  We chose the salmon which was so good.

One of the most amazing things is they make all their own salad dressings, tartar sauce and cocktail sauce.  No prepackaged or commercial items.  The salad dressings -- bleu cheese and house -- were very good and the cocktail sauce was great for those  who love it with horseradish, which I do.

My friend took home some soups and enjoyed the sefood bisque.  Everything is cooked to order so allow some time.

A bit surprised at the low ratings/remarks here--not to say there is no such thing as a place that is always perfect but I've been going here for almost 15 yrs @ 1-2x/yr & only once was I disappointed.

So since 95% of the times it's the same this is more of a summary review.

Yes the place is small the tables smaller(what they have for parties of 4 really should be parties of 2 & what they have for parties of 2 should be single diners.  If you're a party of 2 try to get a table next to the wall on your left as you enter--there is a shelf area you can put some of your stuff to get a bit more space(they let you choose where you want to sit most of the times).

Parking is in front--also there is a lot around the corner for another restaurant/train station.

I always get the same things--seafood bisque(excellent--not sure if the chef may have tried this), salad I just get oil/vinegar since black pepper bothers me so can't confirm all the good reviews on it--but the salad is always fresh & crisp.  Bread is standard nothing special but keep in mind when you walk in you're staring at a fish counter so very casual.

Main course is the Alaskan King Crab Legs--very meaty--they give you a nutcracker but barely need it as they crack them for you--delicious with or w/o melted butter--a little cup of coleslaw I dont care for because it has onions in it.  My companions have gotten flounder, shrimp dishes all said were good if not exceptional.  Last visit got broiled scallops to go for a very discerning diner who said they were excellent.

Desserts vary--sometimes they're out of what I'd like to try so most times I wind up not getting any though once I did try a coconut custard which was pretty good.

I keep forgetting to ask why they close at 3pm on Tuesdays??

Service is pretty good--nothing what the 1st reviewer said maybe he had a runin with one of them on a visit & since it seems to be family run/same ppl working there they dont forget.  Always polite & courteous.

Prices are reasonable King Crab Legs were about $37 but considering they were about $32 when I first started going here in 97 def not keeping up with inflation which is rare for a restaurant.

FYI bathroom is unisex down stepp basement stairs easy to find next to washing machine.  In summer 1 a/c unit near back so I try to sit there but not at table right next to it or you get a frozen back.

If this was a fine dining site obviously my rating would be a lot lower but it's not so see how I figure my rating.

I prefer to give a detailed rating as opposed to just saying I liked it or I didn't.

For me I rate a restaurant in 4 categories in order of importance:

    Food
    Service
    Value
    Décor/ambience/misc

If you're wondering why this is the order for me I rather have great food & so-so service than the other way around.  You can always plan around a slower evening to make it just as enjoyable but not around mediocre food whether it's fast or slow paced.

My 3rd item I call value instead of price because based on the taste & serving portion of the item compared to similar items at other restaurants tells me if it's a good value.  For instance the best steak I've ever had to date runs about $44 but besides being delicious(a way to tell is it stands on its own w/o adding any sauces) it is boneless & about 24oz so you get two good meals.

    Food(2.0), service(1.5), value(1.0) & décor/ambience/misc(0.5)

I then take the # stars for each category & multiply by the # in parentheses then divide by 5 to get my final rating. If the final average is exactly 1/2 I'll round up or down depending on other reviews.

So my calculations are as follows:

    FOOD                                     4.5 x 2 = 9.0
    SERVICE                               4 x 1.5 = 6.0
    VALUE                                   4.5 x 1 =   4.5
    AMBIENCE/OTHER             2.0 x .5 = 1.0

    Total pts 20.50 divided by 5 = 4.10 which rounds to 4

If you like seafood when everything tastes the same (dry and covered with the same seasoning). Will not return.

Local place for local old timers. The fried seafood, scallops, in particular were quite tasty, everything else was bleh. The "lobster" bisque is particularly offensive.

I have worked in the Fulton Fish Market and many others in the seafood industry. Bottom line is that this place always has nice fresh seafood. Yes it's small, can sometimes be drafty but the food is always fresh. The only thing I don't care for at this place is the soups, they are dissapointing to say the least. They would have been a five other than that. In my opinion you can't beat the chowders and bisques at Spikes in Point Pleasant. Oh when you get you salad at Marinos always go for the house dressing. It's delicious.

This is a great place for no frills, good fish. It's very fresh, the restaurant never smells fishy, the service is good, the food is delicious (simple), and the prices are fine.

I would have to say that I am a regular at Marinos...for seafood in our area it is the best around.  I frequently dine in and take-out.  The ambience is nothing to look at, in fact it is sort of a dive but the food is consistantly excellent.  Entry's come with a salad...I dream about the house Italian dressing which is home made and fabulous!  Their bread is heavenly.  My favorite entries are the stuffed shrimp, soft shell crabs (when in season, I get them fried!) and the fried clams.  The fish is fresh and the portions are generous.  Not sure what the others are talking about the service is always friendly and efficient.

The one time I ate dinner here, I ordered broiled swordfish. It was raw in the middle. If all you do every day is cook seafood, this should not happen.

Marino's is the model of consistency.  For ten years, I've walk in expecting fresh seafood and painfully slow service and received a heaping helping of each. Even before I sat down, I was able to plot out the entire course of events as they would unfold:

Minute 1: Sit down and dust off your own table before the server arrives.

Minute 5: Server asks if we want water.

Minute 12: Server returns with water, asks if we're ready to order.

Minute 20: Out comes the bread.

Minute 50: Oh good, appetizers.  Finally.

Minute 85: Here comes the main courses.

Minute 95: Finally out after lunch, with only an hour and a half of my life wasted for a fried haddock sandwich.

Service is slow and inattentive, even though it was dead when we went in.

Prices are fair and seafood is fresh, however they broil every kind of fish in the same marinade so everything ends up tasting the same. Yech. The tartar sauce is totally bland. The sandwiches do not come with any sides, just a tiny dixie cup of coleslaw. I expected fries or something additional for $9 with my sandwich.
