That is a one great burger! For fast food joints, this place tops them. GREAT customer service, fresh ingredients and delicious food! The fried egg makes everything taste better! Cajun fries- amazing. And Milkshakes!? Very cool place!

I had the dry Hawaiian burger. Soooo not worth the 7+ bucks. The patties aren't even soso. When are these new burger places gonna understand that if its not grilled and juicy it'll end up just another hopped up McDonald's patty. Yuck, I want my money back. Sad to say McDonald's has more palatable options then this place.

Five Guys, take notes on this place, please. I had the Cajun Sunrise burger w/ Cajun fries...Anyone who knows me knows I always order the spiciest thing available on any given menu. The Cajun had jalapenos and cajun seasoning...check and check!

I actually have to say that this place is very similar to Five Guys in the quality of the meat, bun, condiments, etc. Pretty sure they both use all 100% angus. But the specialty burgers is where Meatheads trumps the heck out of Five Guys. That and I like the decor of Meatheads as well as the fountain drinks, there are a TON of choices!!! The place was super clean, and the cashier was super nice and she was also busting her hump by helping out with other tables. Good teamwork ,Meatheads!

Four stars b/c I'm not sure I would go out of my way to go to any chain restaurant, although I have never been to IN & OUT before, so perhaps there's still hope :)

Amazing burgers and some of the best service I've seen in a very long time (honestly).

After my last visit, I can happily bump Meatheads up to 4 stars. It seems like they have taken the comments about the greasiness of the burgers to heart and did something about it. I took my parents out for lunch and we enjoyed our experience. The burgers were not greasy at all. They were perfectly cooked, not dried out (a wonder considering how thin the patties are!), and not greasy! I had the cajun sunrise sans bleu cheese sauce. It was a tasty burger. The egg and the bacon complimented it well. My parents enjoyed their selections as well. We shared a large order of fries (1/2 cajun and 1/2 original), which was more than enough for the three of us. Once again, the fries were excellent. Love that they are freshly cut and perfectly crisp.

The service was excellent. Everyone employee was cheerful and pleasant. I'll be looking forward to my next visit.

One suggestion for Meatheads, add some more chef inspired burger choices and make it so that you can get it with grilled chicken. I would love the Californian with grilled chicken... yum! The chef inspired menu choices are usually a better deal than the build your own burger selection... the cajun sunrise burger would cost $1 more ordering it a la carte. I'm not really sure where the value is in adding fries and a drink to it for $4, seeing as though it costs $2 for a regular order of fries and $2 for a soft drink. Maybe knock a little bit off if you order as a meal?

It's got a great menu for burgers, grilled chicken and chicken tender sandwiches with several different choices of cheese and including sides like grilled or raw onions, roasted peppers and mushrooms.
Their fries can't be beat, fresh cut and also deep fried in fresh oil. Always crispy with the right amount of salt.
They served good shakes and their beverage selection is enormous. I often have a hard time choosing so I'm glad they have 2 soda dispensers.

My family favorite fast food spot.Great burgers and fries. My favorite is Hawaiian Burger. Don't go there if you or on diet!

This is my family's favorite fast food restaurant. The burgers are better than any other in this price category - even better than the famed In-N-Out or Five Guys, IMO - and the fries are fresh and delicious, especially when dipped in their cheese sauce. My favorite burger is the cajun sunrise.

The service is always exceptional for a fast food restaurant. There have been times where we have forgotten to order something small - like an order of fries for the kids - and they've always added it to our order without an extra charge. They've won our loyalty for that kind of service. The staff has gotten to know us pretty well, and they try hard to make sure you're satisfied. They add a personal touch that few restaurants in this category do.

Lean and not too greasy burgers, lightly toasted crispy bun. The restaurant was clean and modern with an fresh smell that was free of fry oil or greasiness like Five Guys. Glad they had chipotle ketchup on the condiment bar.

Closest in taste & quality to In-N-Out Burger.  WAY better than Five Guys.

Phenomenal tasting burger paired with a bun that compliments the experience rather than stealing the show.  Amazing choice of toppings included for no extra charge (e.g., mushrooms, jalapeños, etc.), and price is significantly less that Tom & Eddie's.

Cajun fries were addicting...so good that I ate them all, which is insane.

    Can't wait to go back.

FIVE REASONS IT'S BETTER THAN FIVE GUYS
Love the burgers and chicken sandwiches here.  It has an edge in my mind to Five Guys because it has five things five guys doesn't have:
1.) Crispy thin fries with a great cheese sauce you can dip into
2.) Shakes - yummy shakes in a variety of flavors
    3.) Chicken sandwiches
4.) More toppings and types of burgers - want an egg or patty melt?  Meatheads has it but those guys don't.
    5.) Kids meals

Only wishes would be for a whole wheat bun option and more locations!

Probably my favorite burger and fries place - my kids won't eat McDonalds burgers anymore.

Yes, the comparisons to five guys are inevitable. This location is across the street from one.

Meatheads burgers are juicier. At five guys, it is as if they press the spatula down on the burger to cook it, but effectively dry it out.

Five guys fries are slightly "meatier", and you get more. Meatheads are thinner, but not enough to cause overly crispy fries. Shakers of "Cajun seasoning" are readily available, and I like a little bit on my fries and my burger. I like that they leave it up to me add the amount that I prefer. Neither place offers gravy for the fries, which would definitely point to a favorite.

Both meatheads and five guys have the freestyle coke machine, but only meatheads offers milkshakes. They are good, but not $4 good. They are served in a cup like a frosty from Wendy's, not like at Fuddruckers where you get the glass plus the metal container that has your overflow/refill/sample for your dining companion.

Five guys has open containers of peanuts, so that's a no-no for those dining with companions with those allergies. The have grilled cheese and AVT options should you bring along one of those vegetarian persons with you.

I like this place. I see that this is getting compared to Five Guys, as they are similar. I like Five Guys too but there are some differences:

-You can get a fried egg, avocado, pineapple, chili or a buncha other toppings here that you cannot get at Five Guys.
-Meatheads fries are like 1000 times better than Five Guys, and you can get them with chili and cheese on top.  These are thin and crispy fries, not the floppy overly greasy fries at Five Guys.
-Meatheads offer a chicken sandwich and you can build it as you would the burger.
    -Meatheads also offers shakes.

The bun on top of these burgers are less substantial than Five Guys but I don't eat burgers with the entire bun so I'm ok with that. The meat patties are also less juicy (greasy) here. Also, the decor here is better I think than the stark white. red and black race car theme at Five Guys. Anyway, the fact that the fries are good here and that I can get avocado on my burger makes it a winner in my book.

I really like their cajun fries. It is even better with cheese.

I also like the bun they use for their burgers. It is the reminds me a bit of mcd's but better. There is more substance.

Their burgers are quite messy and greasy. But most burgers are. These are a little too greasy for me though. They kept me full for a long time...uh too much grease, fat and carbs?? I just get the original burger with cheese.

Their shakes are really good!! Love places that put whipped cream over shakes and shakes blends real fruit! Yum!

Service is excellent: quick, attentive and friendly. It is almost like a sit down waiter restaurant except you order/pay up front first. There is a guy (manager?) cleaning and checking up on you. Then there is a different guy that serves you the food. Very quick and organized system.

Meatheads is always clean when I go.

I am bumping these guys back up to four stars for three specific reasons:

    1.  After my last review, a manager sent me a thoughtful note discussing their menu-expansion practices and apologizing for the bad milkshake.  It's great that they listen to feedback.

    2.  I have been eating their chicken sandwich regularly over the last month and it is good stuff.  Sauteed mushrooms and grilled onions + honey mustard OR pickles and raw onions + barbecue sauce.

    3.  They installed one of those fancy Coca-Cola machines with eleventy-billion choices.  So with my meal I can have Coke Zero with a dash of Coke Zero Lemon, then for dessert I can have Diet Barq's Root Beer with a dash of Diet Barq's Vanilla.  Some of my favorite lunch spots which offer only Diet Coke have now given up half a step to Meatheads.

After my last review I received a followup message from Meathead's management about my order. They advised that I had not received the 1/2 lb burger I ordered and clarified a few of my issues. They encouraged me to come back, which I did, especially in light of the outreach that management did concerning my experience.

And I'm happy to report that my followup visit last week was much better than the first. They got the burger order right this time - 3, 1/6th lb patties to constitute a 1/2 lb burger. And while I still stick to my guns that a single 1/2 lb burger would be juicier, these patties were flavorful and as juicy as could be expected.

French fries were even better than last time too - a plentiful order of excellent quality fries, evenly salted and very tasty. I also ordered a chocolate shake which was good, though not outstanding.

Given the step up in quality from my previous visit, correct order and a very sincere communication from management about my first experience, I am now a Meathead's fan. I still think that if they merged with Tom & Eddie's they'd be the best premium burger place hands down, as both spots do different things well. But I'll take this place anyday over Five Guys and Smashburger too.

Meh. I still like Five Guys better. The burger was just ok, but you get 2 thin slices and it's dry. The fries are good but burger just ok.

Not sure I'd put the "trying hard to be cool yet indifferent" guy upfront on the cash register. Talk about not feeling welcome. Send him to the back or just fire the kid. We went on a Friday, he was more interested in dazing out the window. What happened to service?

Massive disappointment at this place, and we won't be going back. It seemed like such a great idea, order any toppings you want on your burger, or pick a signature burger already topped for you. We left feeling ripped off and hungry.

The burgers are the super skinny Steak and Shake variety, rather than a thick juicy burger. We ordered two kids meals and neither of them got the fries we had ordered, and both tables next to us had to argue for theirs too. The Cajun fries we ordered ourselves were too crispy to eat.

Obviously it's a matter of taste, some people prefer their burgers and fries that way, we just don't. It's a shame, because the concept is great. We'll stick to Red Robin I guess.

This place is amazing.  It's an order then sit-down place, but the service is great and the food's even better!

The staff is very friendly, responsive, and caring - they greet you with a smile, ask you if you need water or anything else (when you're sitting down mind you), and clear your empty baskets when you're done.

As for the food, they have it ready for you quite quickly, and it's one of the best burgers you'll ever have.  Always cooked perfectly with fresh ingredients.  They offer a wide selection of ingredients/combinations (for burgers) on their menu to cater to your tastes.  They have amazing fries (we always order the cajun fries).  Last but not least - they make the best chocolate milkshake i've ever had (it's a must order).  Oh, and by the way, the portions are large - so come hungry - and I suggest sharing the fries with someone.

I've heard people say that Five Guys is a great "fast food" burger joint, but Meatheads is a solid jump above that. High quality beef, a great array of toppings for a 'make your own' burger, plus some intriguing burger specials.

To compare it side by side with Five Guys I figured I get my standard...cheeseburger, fresh jalapenos, BBQ sauce, raw onions, lettuce, tomato. All across the board, from the fresh buns and toppings to the preparation itself, this was a great burger. It's also quicker than Five Guys.

I grabbed a chocolate shake to go, and while I appreciate the dollop of whipped cream on top, I was hoping for a bigger chocolate flavor. Still had great taste, great texture however.

The noise could be an issue when the place is packed, but it certainly wouldn't stop me from going back.

Meatheads is not just another fast food joint. The food is crafted with care, using only fresh, all-natural ingredients. At first, I was expecting to chow down on a huge meaty burger hence the name "Meatheads," but I was wrong. The burger was a nice portion. The patties are thin with no filler, just 100% Angus beef. Moreover the burger is topped with all-natural cheese and soft burger buns. On top of that, the freshly-cut french fries tastes like potatoes! Delicious!

Their menu is pretty simple. You can either build your own burger or pick one of the chef-inspired burgers. My favorite is the Californian which comes with a refreshing cucumber wasabi sauce and my favorite food, avocados. On top of the burger experience, the dining area is clean and casual. You're not sitting in front a table smeared with grease stains what appears to be from a previous hungry customer's meal.

You order your food at the counter and wait at your assigned table for someone to serve your delightful meal to you. I recommend parents to take your kids here if you care about what you are feeding your children. Yes, it's still a burger with grease but it's a burger with a bit more of integrity. At the end, you're served with a better product that might cost more than the $1 menu from McDonalds. I say it's definitely worth-it.

We came here after a playdate with friends who live around the area and this place was packed!  This place makes Five Guys look ridiculous with delicious fresh burgers and handcut cajun fries.  I love the many options - we tried their Texas Ranch and I had the Californian with pepper jack, cucumber wasabi sauce and avocado.  That cucumber wasabi sauce is amazing!  With our Cajun fries came this bacon ranch dip which was great!  Their meatheads burgers come with two patties.

Definitely a great alternative to Five Guys and if I can't be in Evanston for my burgers, Meatheads would be my next pick!  With a kids menu where my son gobbled up his Lil' Meathead, we'll be back for more of their yummy milkshakes, too!

I met my best friend and my husband after work for some shopping in the suburbs since we work out that way. We were really striking out on the shopping and getting tired and grumpy. We had no idea where to eat but saw this place while driving by and thought it sounded good (though I'd never heard of it before that night).

The staff was great. They were patient, they described things to us and recommended things to us even though we came in only about 20 minutes to close.

We ended up ordering 2 phillys no onions (1/3 pound Angus beef, provolone cheese, mayo, roasted red peppers, sautéed mushrooms) and a californian (Angus beef, pepper jack cheese, cucumber wasabi sauce, avocado, lettuce, tomato) - The guy at the register pegged me while ordering and asked if I wanted the "usual" size of a two patty burger or the one patty option. I was shocked, but hell yes, that's way more my speed to only have one patty. Awesome! As well as two orders of (fresh cut) fries with cheese sauce, bacon ranch and buffalo ranch sauces to try on the side. Oh and later a strawberry milkshake which was really tasty.

I was really impressed with the food. The burgers weren't greasy (sorry other reviewers!) but were juicy (even despite being thin, well done patties). They have an awesome variety of toppings, fresh ingredients and interesting flavors. The bun was slightly sweet. The fries were addictive, not greasy, crispy, and really, really good. Even the sauces were all tasty.

This is probably the best "fast casual" burgers I've ever had.

Best of all? For 2 lg orders fries, 3 sauces, 3 burgers, one drink, one shake~$30

To sum up what I gathered from past Yelp reviews in one word, it would be: greasy.

And greasy it was!  Greasy = when the two thin patties on your burger slip and slide between the bun so much that you have to reassemble the burger before even taking a bite out of it.  Not what you need to be thinking about when it's noon, and you're starving.  Tip: get a knife and cut the sucker in half, and then attack.

I ordered the "Philly" burger (provolone, grilled onions, mushrooms, and red peppers).  The mushrooms and red peppers seemed to have been soaked in some greasy brine.  Overall, meh.  This fast food burger drops to the bottom of my list.  The fries were much better: crisp, fresh, and just as you would expect from those Idaho tatoes.

The actual location and space is clean and nice.

I have fallen in love... with a banana split milkshake!

It's no secret that Meatheads is my go-to place to satisfy a burger craving.  And each time, I leave with a belly full of yummy food and a smile on my face.  But today's visit was something extreme.  I decided to treat myself to a shake after a really stressful morning.  As if they knew I was coming, there was a sign announcing their new banana split milkshake.  Say what?  Did I just die and go to heaven?

It was absolutely amazing.  I savored every last drop.  It was hard for me to focus any attention on my burger or fries because the shake was just so devilishly good.

I may or may not have shed a tear after the last drop was gone.

    The Chipotle of burger joints.

They take something simple that we all love and add the ability to openly customize it.
With choices like avocado, overly fried egg or an array of sauces you're now granted the ability to pay $10 for a meal.
But wait, $10 sounds almost expensive for a fast-food-style lunch. I forgot to mention - everything is "natural" so it's ok to charge more.

It's pretty turnkey and a good fix for a burger with that "upscale fast food" feel.

The fries were shoestring-like and delicious.
The burgers all come at one doneness level (well).

For those days I want to clog my young arteries I'll go back.
It's a cool concept with a few kinks to still work out.

mmm... meat.  The name of the restaurant already alludes to a good burger and it was not bad.  It reminded me of another burger joint called "Five Guys."  The similarities?  You get to pick between 2 meat patties or 1, they have cajun seasoning for fries and you get to build your own burger. They have tons of variety including pineapple, mushrooms, grilled or raw onions, bacon, fresh jalapenos etc.  The decor was simple, clean and ordinary with wood paneling, so they leave the creativity up to YOU.... the burger-maker.

The differences?  They have milkshakes and even kids' menus.  It certainly felt like people brought their families here instead of being just an upscale burger joint for yuppies.  Also , they have lots of sauces like wasabi ranch and add-ons like fried egg (get it for an extra buck!).

The burger came on a slightly toasted bun and the meat could have a been a bit saltier.  Then again, I skipped the cheese and had their chipotle ranch sauce on the side- (it's really good on the burger and even better dipped with fries.)  It was hard to keep the buns together but a messy burger = delicious, right?  Get their chipotle ranch sauce and maybe request a few others on the side to try with your meal.  A friend and I split a large order of fries and could not finish because their portions were so generous.  Douse 'em with the malt vinegar and several shakes of salt will turn these fries from good to reeeeeally good.

For a place that calls themselves "MEATheads"...you'd think you would be receiving a decent portion of meat.  WRONG. The worst part of the burgers here are the meat patties and the buns...WHICH HAPPEN TO BE THE 2 CORE INGREDIENTS OF A BURGER.

The beef patty was literally 2 millimeters thick...it didn't even have any flavor to it.  The bun.....okay so maybe i'm spoiled because it's not a pretzel roll...

The only thing Meatheads has going for it is the fact that they have several decent side sauces.

Is it too much to ask for Kuma's Corner to become a chain restaurant?

Granted that the burgers here are overpriced and not that filling, I give it 4 stars based upon the chili cheese fries (worth the $4) and the fact that they bring out your food to you.  Their burgers start out around $4.50 and you can add tomatoes, lettuce, onions, and then they have a whole bunch of freebies as well such as shrooms, jalapenos, etc.  They also have specialty burgers starting at $5.50 to $6.00.

Compare this boy to Five Guys, similar in nature (such as small menu, and the regular vs cajun fries)... but Meatheads has a few concoctions similar to Red Robin that Five Guys doesn't have.. including the Cajun Burger (includes an egg), and other different types of burgers including the Fish, Philly, and Chicken Burgers.

The Cajun Burger isn't bad, but you only get 1 patty at the expense of a whole egg on top, instead of the 2 patties you would normally get with any other burger.  If I would have known this, I would have gotten another burger instead... because I would definitely trade in an egg for a patty anyday.  But the egg was good still.

    Ok bye.

I LOVE MEATHEADS.  Their burgers are deliciously, sublimely greasy, or in a word: awesome!!!!  (Yes, three exclamation points - I think they are that good.)  If I were unconcerned about weighing 600 pounds, I would eat here every day.  The meat actually tastes like meat, and you can tell that the fries were actually potatoes once upon a time.  The toppings are fresh, the buns are perfect, and service is friendly.  And their cheese sauce is to die for (almost better that their burgers if that's possible...... I'm not sure yet).

My only complaint is that it's too crowded sometimes.  (I guess I'm not the only person who loves to eat here.)  But it doesn't matter - the food more than makes up for the occasional wait for a table.

If you haven't been here yet, you need to get in here!

Was this place good? Kinda. Did it gross me out? Yeah. Would I do it again? Probably.

Essentially, they are all about their burgers (they also have a few non-burger items such as hot dogs, chicken, grilled chee). But I'm fairly certain no matter what burger you order, it'll all turn out the same.

The same being so greasy that it slides out of the bun. And so fatty that you barely have to chew. The "buffalo sauce" was basically red tinted mayo and the lettuce was that gross kind from the inner head.

It was tasty in the sense that it was fun to eat. I mean, i ate every last morsel. But overall, the FLAVOR was absent. I couldn't taste buffalo anything. But who says fat doesn't taste good? Not me. It does. But that was the general flavor. Did the burger me want to die afterward? You betcha.

My friend got a regular order of fries. I ate them too and neither of us could plow through them. Which is saying a lot, because we've been eating buddies going on 20 years. They were salty as all get out though.

I dunno, Northbrook. I feel like you have better things to offer. But then again, I'm kind of a snob.

A combination of Five Guys (unlimited toppings), Culver's (thin patties), and fRedhots (dipping sauces).

Pretty easy to figure out.  You either build your own burger, or you pick one they've already come up with (most of these come with 2 patties, but you can request just 1).  Then you choose what type of fries you want (they're all thin cut, almost shoestring-ish) - regular or cajun - plus any dipping sauces.  They also make milkshakes.

I've come here twice with 4 different people, and we all like Five Guys better.  The toppings are greasy, but the burger patties are dry.  The buns are lightly grilled, but they are cheap.  The worst are the fries, which are way too salty!  Also, the dipping sauces are just ok.  Get the chili cheese fries - those were nice & gooey.

I noticed today that you can't order a burger with just one patty.  Don't even try.  It's just not allowed.

If you can't handle it, take your vegan ass down to whole foods and go eat a pita bread you spinach fondling pussy.

They should allow you to only order patties in prime numbers.

This grease is harder to wash off my hands than shame.

    I love this place.

Ok people... gonna go out on a limb here and say this is one of the best damn burgers - if not THE best burger - I've had....PERIOD. Stopped in after going to Fred Hots only to find out they were closed at 6:30 on a Saturday night (wtf?). Wow... am I glad things worked out the way they did!

My husband had the Cajun Sunrise - a yummy burger with fresh jalapenos, pepper jack cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, a fried egg and bleu cheese sauce. He also ordered the cajun fries with cheese sauce. The burger was grilled to perfection, egg was perfectly fried, jalapenos were sliced fresh on the spot, and the burger was insanely juicy. The cajun fries were also spot-on... hand-cut, not greasy, not overly seasoned, and the cheese sauce wasn't typical either. It was "light" for a cheese sauce and very tasty.

I had the Lil Meathead - a single patty with ketchup, mustard, grilled onions, lettuce, tomatoes and pepper jack cheese. I got regular fries with the bacon ranch sauce for dipping. Again, my burger was grilled to perfection. Very tasty - not a bad word to be said.

As for the restaurant itself, it was very clean, warm, and I took notice of things like eco-friendly bulbs, recycle bin, use of bamboo on the walls, etc. The server couldn't have been nicer either. She introduced herself, verified our order in detail and was just super sweet.

Not only will we definitely go back to Meatheads, I'm very much looking forward to it!

I went on opening night when the offered a free meal if you signed up in advance and made reservations.  The Burgers are made to order (fast casual) and better than any fast food burger chain I have had, but probably not as good as a sit down restaurant.  The fries are hand cut and were very good.  The coffee shake was very good.  They have a excellent selection of choices of how to order your burger.

The service was amazing and very attentive.  After ordering, you get a number and they bring your order to your table.

The open kitchen was fascinating to my three and half year old son.  It's definitely one of the better choices on the shore for a made to order quick burger.
