Mrs Parks Tavern

I've worked within a block of this restaurant for 5+ years and have eaten lunch here a few times. One thing that stood out in my mind is that it's always quiet. No tourists and a good place to visit over lunch.

Well....went with a work friend for lunch today. The complimentary pretzel bread and butter was piping hot and really tasty. I'll give 'em that. I ordered the club sandwich with homemade potato chips and Work Friend ordered a Reuben with seasoned fries. Hers seemed fine.

My lunch, however, left much to be desired. The big draw for me was the "homemade potato chips." I was expecting crisp, hot homemade thin chips. Instead, I got a half place of ever so damp--dare I say stale--unsalted (previously salted?) Lay's potato chips (my apologies to Frito Lay).

The sandwich was constructed with bacon, lettuce, tomato and turkey. You'd think all that yummy goodness would actually taste good. Nope. Bland and $12.95. The server could not have been any more indifferent to us and our entire dining experience.

If all you want is a quiet place to talk over lunch, pick up a sandwich and chips at the convenience store. You'll save a bundle, have a better meal, and the cashier will likely speak to you.

And  to thinkI had wondered why no one was ever at Mrs. Parks Tavern....
