Not impressed. It might be because they're relatively new, but the servers are horrible. I don't think I've ever had an experience where we weren't forgotten about, got out order messed up, or just plainly ignored. It's never the same waitress, always different, but always the same outcome...getting food/drinks I didn't order and being told "oh but you did order this" or being neglected in a corner seat.
Also a word to the wise, unless you're a group of strapping young college frat boys, don't expect good service...girlfriends going with your boyfriends, you will be ignored no doubt, at least I was!
I've given this place multuple chances but always get the same result: bad service and low quality food. Last time I was here I got chips and dip and this salsa and queso was out of a jar of tostidos, I kid you not.
We recently had an encounter where we were not checked up on whatsoever and upon sitting down and not ordering food immediately our waitress actually said to us "So you're not ordering any food? How are you going to even make this table worth my while?" Are you kidding????
After waiting about 20 minutes just to see a waitress to ask for a check, it was incorrect. When we wanted a correction it took her FORTY MINUTES to bring it back only to tell us we were wrong but just this time she'll overlook it. Not to sound like a prick, but I think they figured we were drunk and weren't going to look over our bill at what they charged us. The length of this check is not a one time thing. Any time I have been there in a group larger than 2 we are neglected and made to wait.
Anyway, the food quality and high prices don't make up for the lousy service either. The food is decent, but nothing spectacular. Would I recommend this place? No. They need better/more servers who pay equal attention to everyone and have time for everyone.
have not tried the food yet... but looks promising...
this place is 1 block away from my house and so glad i don't have to drive in order to get a drink other place... this place is cool! good crowd. can watch the Hawks Game, they put sound.. they have pool tables... a private party room .. Â if you are in the hood... definitely worth it!
Friendly service. Was greeted right away.Typical sportsbar menu.Nothing really stuck out but the selections were pretty good.Went with the cajun chicken sandwich. Also added a salad for $1.Excellent service at least on my experience.I'll definetely come back.Place seems like a good place to get to know people.Im always in the area so WHY NOT???? Im adding Mulligan's as another spot that I can safely eat at and enjoy. It was an enjoyable experience.
Review Source:My husband and I were super excited to have a place open up so close to our house where you can go to just have a beer, watch a game, and have a good meal! We are regulars now at Mullen's and have tried many things on the menu.
Pros:
1) Food is very good! My favorite is the Pot Roast sandwich with tater tots! Yes they have tots! I also like their burgers which are served on pretzel rolls. Yea buddy!
2) Great atmosphere and spacious. I love that there are tables around the bar you can sit at to eat or just have a few beers, or there are separate rooms they will open up for families with kids so you are kind of away from the bar area. Also the kids then have lots of room to spread out. They have many TV's so it is great to watch a game. One room has a huge projector screen for games. They also have a pool table.
3) Good for kids to be there but not to eat there. They give kids a coloring page and crayons which keeps them busy.
4) The prices are very reasonable.
Cons:
1) Not a fan of the kids menu at all. My daughter did not like their macaroni and cheese nor the chicken fingers. I thought the mac n' cheese was good for adults. However it has a combo of different cheeses that kids are not a fan of. I wish they had a more basic mac 'n cheese for kids. The chicken fingers have too much batter on them and not enough chicken. The kids pizza is obviously a frozen pizza they throw in the oven and it just didnt taste good.
2) The service is slow. The servers are slow at getting you refills, slow at checking to see if you need anything else, and they take forever to bring you the check. I usually find myself having to hunt the server down which is so annoying. I also wish they had mozarella sticks on the menu.
3) Bathrooms are tiny and for Gods sake they need to fix the lock on one of the bathrooms already! It is has literally been broken since they opened it seems like. How hard is it to fix a lock already!
Worst food and service I've had at a bar/grill. Been there several times and they've yet to get my order straight. Way over priced and the specials are not so special. The girls that work there clearly have one agenda and thats making money. Customer service is the last thing on there minds, again unless they know you. I sat at the bar once and we each had 6-7 beers and wasn't even offered one on the house. That program, again is for the privileged that are friends of barkeep. Which we witnessed. Management has been horrid since day one. The latest manager only says hello to people he apparently knows. Not a very friendly guy. They don't care about taking care of the customers. I actually thought about walking out on my food its so bad. I guess you must be regular to enjoy this place. If there was a no star program that's what they'd get. NO STARS!

5 stars for our sever Ashley who was polite and an all around really great server.
We stopped for beers and asked Ashley what she recommended...she told us she was a fan of the Cheesey Garlic wings...They were really good!
Great Service from Ashley.
Things I noticed that were strange.
I kept seeing people take their drink outside with them for a cigarette,
The bartender looked like she was having a GOOD time.
I was curious if there was a manager there....but all in all it was a good time.
The food at Mullen's is good - above average bar food. Wings are great, Spinach dip is great. Awesome specials throughout the week like $10 domestic buckets, $15 import buckets (including Amstel and Heineken) and $1 sliders, half price apps, etc.
The bloody Mary is one of the best I've ever had, hands down.
Nice service, clean and friendly. Awful, tucked-away location - I wish more people knew about this place. I'd hate to see it close.
Husband and I went for Super Bowl, had two buckets (one Amstel, one Miller Lite), wings, spinach dip in a bread bowl, nachos, and a cup of soup. All for $47. Can't beat that.
When they first opened, I went because it was close by and recommended. Â IT WAS GREAT!
The past 2 times I've been there in past couple of months, THERE WAS TERRIBLE SERVICE and the restaurant has been very cold/chilly in temperature.
Just the other night, we went there and where do I begin?
1.) My pop was 95% ice and after 2 sips it was gone. I had to request another one within 5 minutes and asked for less ice. It came back with 5-6 ice cubes and all warm pop. LOL.
2.) A water took 20 minutes to get.
3.) Before we had out coats off, our waitress is telling us that they are out of kid's menus and she began rattling off the menu.
4.) Our food came totally opposite from what we ordered. Â When we told the girl, she became flustered and had to get the manager. She couldn't just bring us new sandwiches. Â He came and without hesitation and we did get new plates.
5.) ** We did get a 10% discount for all of this ** Â
This is FYI.
Super neighborhood hang out. Yes it's a bar but they have great food. The glazed salmon is excellent. I bring my kids there all the time. Their drinks are wonderful. Their prices are very fair. The staff is friendly. Service is real good. Great place to watch the game and they have UFC fights too. It's very close to my house so I even order from their "take out" menu. I really like Mullen's
Review Source:I was part of the opening staff here when the place opened up last fall, Training was exceptional and the managers very motivating and great to work with.
It has a party room with pool tables and other games like darts and foosball.
The projection screen is as big as a side of a buidling and I like to watch the Hawks there!
they have great martini specials on Tuesdays so the girls and I would go.
Fun and laid-back place and the food is SUPER good as well!!
Miss ya guys!
Little best kept secret over in that neck of the woods ;)
All the best, MULLEN's !!!
I stopped by Mullen's in Norridge tonight for my first time to meet up with some friends. I was very pleased! The bar is very clean and has ample seating/space. The waitress was extremely attentive to our table of 12. As soon as a beer/water/pop needed a refill, she was on it (and there were about 20 or so other patrons in the bar). I am very surprised to see reviews about lackluster service. The owner was also extremely friendly with us as well. We felt very welcomed in this bar. Perhaps this bar needed to get the hang of things when they first opened. I definitely was satisfied with the service we received tonight, and our waitress was very kind and was always taking care of us.
Wednesdays are $.35 wings after 5 PM, so we were all chowing down on some delish wings! I had the buffalo sauce and they were very tasty. They weren't greasy like Hooters and they had a good amount of sauce. They were normal sized wings (I've had bigger and I have had smaller). The wings were also served with complimentary carrots, celery and ranch sauce (places like BWW charge you extra for each!) They have some other great deals on other nights as well (can't remember the specifics deals for each day). My male friends were busy watching the Bulls and college football games (there are huge LCD TV's everywhere). It's not too loud (very easy to have a conversation with someone sitting across from you) and there was music playing in the background. I definitely recommend this place if you are in the area. And don't be fooled; while it's located in the corner of a strip mall, it definitely is a more "classier" bar (as opposed to Northwoods Lounge down Cumberland, which is certainly a dive bar...and I am not knocking dive bars because I am def a big fan of the Northwoods Lounge!)
There was a back room to this place that had pool tables (and perhaps darts?) We did not go in the back area, so I am not 100% sure what other games they had available.
I have to give major props to a bar with CLEAN restrooms. If you ever want to judge what a restaurant/bar's kitchen looks like, STOP IN THE RESTROOM. This bathroom was literally spotless. I didn't feel the need to hover or waste a good 1.5 minutes covering the seat with paper. The bathroom was stocked (and hey, there was even soap available! You'd be amazed how many bathrooms don't even have f'kn soap!!!)
Oh, my friend had the wrap and fries and she said it was very good as well. They have $2 burgers (I believe on Mondays) and $4 Bloody Mary's on Sundays (which I heard is served with some of my favorite Bloody fixins!) Compared to other bars located in Norridge/Schiller Park/Harwood Heights, this bar definitely surpasses expectations! I am looking forward to going back soon! It's the perfect place to meet up with co-workers or friends after work :-)
I live in the neighborhood and was really excited to see a brand new sports bar open in the area. The place was about half full on a Saturday night around dinnertime and our waitress originally came by to tell us the drink specials. Then she left and never came back.
There were more than enough staff members to accommodate the crowd that night and our waitress just disappeared totally. We thought about going up the bar to ask somebody to take our order, but because I wasn't dying to try anything particular on the menu, we decided to just get up and leave. The hostess just stared at us and didn't say a word as we headed out the door.
This retail space has been cursed as long as I can remember. Mullen's predecessor, The 3 Olives, only lasted as long as it did because of excellent service and above-par food. With Mullen's idea of customer service, this place has a snowball's chance in hell of lasting. Do yourself a favor and head down the street to Hooters if you want tasty bar food in the area.
I have been to this place 2 times so far. I don't know why people are giving it bad reviews. The 2 times I've been there I had a great time, the workers were friendly, polite, and got my order RIGHT the FIRST TIME in a matter of moments. I personally like this place. For everyone writing bad reviews keep in mind it's a sports bar not a Michelin star restaurant. My opinion is to go try it for yourselves. Not everyone likes the same thing and that goes without saying.
Review Source:The only thing irish about Mullen's is the name. Like the other reviewer we wanted to like this place to as it being close to home. For a Sports bar they aren't too real sporty. No dart boards. The only tv that I really saw most of was the irritating large projection in the pool room. The tables in the pool room weren't bolted together yet and was a danger to anyone in there. It was cool that we were the first people to play the pool table, but we kept getting annoyed by waiters running back and forth asking if we want anything with the span of 5 min apart. No jukebox. The fireplace would be inviting if there was a couch or 2 near it. More pricey then the other local bars. The bar is tucked in a corner and not really seen in the mall its located in. Hopefully in a few months time it will grow better. Just keep in mind its a blue collar neighborhood and they look more like they are trying to build it as being in Lincoln park.
Review Source:I really wanted to like this place since it's so close to home, but I think I'm going to stick with going to Mullen's in Rogers Park. No jukebox and the music is downright irritating. The radio station they were playing was a mix of light pop songs, but no hiphop or alternative at all. What is the target clientele here exactly?
The food I ordered was disappointing and expensive, and my mixed drinks didn't even give me a buzz, and I'm definitely a lightweight. Depressing. The inside is nice though, it's very clean and hip looking, I didn't venture into the room with the pool table.
We were told that there will be no specials until October 22, which is the grand opening. Maybe I'll try again after that. Until then, no thanks.
