If you're looking for an expensive, crowded place filled with inconsiderate wait staff to rest your weary bones then look no further than Noche. We had a large group for SIPS and immediately noticed the stifling lack of air conditioning. As the night went on our tab grew and grew and the staff treated us worse and worse. At one point we had to pay for another table's pitcher of margaritas because a waitress had delivered it to the wrong area. When I asked her to correct it she said she would bring us another pitcher. That sounds great and reasonable, but the follow up was classic: we just had to pay for the other pitcher. Never in my life have I had to pay for another party's drinks. Seeing as that we were in a celebratory mood, I let it pass, paid the egregious tab and knew that sweet revenge waited for me on the internet. Next time you are in Rittenhouse thinking of somewhere fun, think "no thanks" if you think of Noche.
Review Source:Good for happy hour. El Rey was packed so we headed here. $2 tacos, 1/2 off pizzas, margarita specials-everything I could ask for.
The chips and dip platter was just okay. For $9, it was regular tortilla chips, salsa, bean dip, and guacamole. Everything tasted like it had been taken out of a can. BUT I loved the tacos-very different. Beef, feta cheese, and potatoes-so different but so good. Â The pizza was actually surprisingly good too-we ordered chicken ranch and had plenty of leftovers.
Yuck... I hate to write bad reviews but... Everything was awful... Very slow service... Even with no one in the bar... That should have been our first clue... The worst margarita I ever had... And how do you mess up chips and dip...they were horrible... Chip were drowned in salt... And the bean dip had zero flavor and came from a can and the salsa was a brown watery soup that also had zero flavor Yuck... And it was very over priced for what we got... Great location but that's it... The first and last time I'll ever be there!
Review Source:Awesome. Noche's convenient Rittenhouse location makes it a super convenient space for impromptu weekend dancing after drinks or dinner at nearby venues (Continental, Drinkers, Devil's Alley, Franklin Mortgage). Â Clientele consists of young professionals and grad students. Â A good haunt for post-graduate party lovers.
Fab music for dancing. Â Typical radio and college party hits ( i.e. no snooty indie hipsters here). Â Drinks are standard well juice. Â I recommend you pre-game.
No cover! Skip on in. However - they will NOT accept Passports or foreign IDs :/ take note tourists.
Happy hours on Saturday from 9pm to 11pm?! just AWESOME! I did not get any food there so i will not be discussing about the food but the $12 dollar pitcher definitely win me over. The service was quick and I like the atmosphere of Noche. The music was good and it is definitely a good place to hang out with a bunch of friends. I took off a star just because the place got REALLY crowded later in the night (which is guess can be good for some people).
Review Source:I have never been here for dinner, but this is a great place to check out for happy hour. Â It recently switched from Stoli specials to $4 margaritas. Â They also have half priced pizza which are delicious and a number of Mexican dishes as appetizers during happy hour. Â I recommend the buffalo chicken pizza if you are into it. Â The atmosphere is pretty relaxed and the service is pretty friendly. Â I have been here a few times and the place does not generally start to get crowded until after 7. Â So if you get there around 5:30, you may have the place essentially to yourself.
Review Source:I went to Noche to get a tapas dinner and some drinks. Their menu is small since it's a tapas style place, but the food was good. Their nachos and flatbreads were pretty good, but my favorite was the pastel azteca. It looks messy but I promise it is tasty. My boyfriend and I got a margarita pitcher for happy hour. It was okay, but nothing special. I've had better and cheaper margaritas. Overall it wasn't good enough that I would want to go back. Sorry I'm not sorry, Noche.
Review Source:I've been to Noche several times. The last time was probably about a half of a year ago (maybe a bit more) and things seemed to change unfortunately for the worse. What used to be a packed bar with good drinks and food was now practically empty with a poor beer selection and very bland food. Where did the pizzas and salads go? Where is the good beer?
The food selection now is quite small, which is appropriate if it's made up with quality, which unfortunately it was not. Most of the tapas (I guess the place became tapas style??) were very bland (not even okay; just very very bland.. I was hungry and didn't want to take another bite) and quite expensive. The waitress pronounced pollo as polo (with an L sound). really? If you're going to pretend to be a Mexican restaurant, it may make sense to have basic training.
In summary, this place used to be pretty good (good drink selections, good food and packed). I was sadly disappointed and won't be coming back until they change back.
Been here 5or6 times, so not a regular but enough to get a feel for it.
Food is above average but slightly over priced. Drinks are the same.
Space is really narrow and cramped but has a good view from the second floor. The atmosphere is ok but nothing of note.
Staff are TERRIBLE. Never once had a positive experience with the bartenders or servers. Always seem pissed off and unhappy to be there, really a mood killer.
Pretty good, Noche. Pretty good.
Let me start that when people first suggested this place to me, I was thinking "ugh... another Rittenhouse shit show." Kind of avoided it, because I'd grouped it in with a bunch of places that I tend to dislike, due to a combination of douchey clientele, undeservingly high prices, ridiculous covers and crappy music.
So, imagine my surprise when I was dragged here for lack of options, when the place was free, had pretty good music, reasonable drinks (and a respectable beer selection both draft and bottle), and people who are pretty normal and, gasp, polite.
I'm sorry I misjudged you, Noche.
Anyway, Friday nights there's a DJ who plays a pretty good mix of everything. The place gets busy, but there's always room to dance. This is a huge plus for me. Also, again, it's free, which is a lot better than many other dancing options in the area. Take that 10 dollar cover and spend it on booze!
I would say the only drawback is that they never seem to have more than two people behind the bar at any time. The service is as quick as it can be, but sometimes you'll catch yourself waiting for a drink for a while - hard to blame them for it if there's 20 other people ordering with you.
Anyway, check Noche out for a good time.
... that sounded creepy.
Decided to try something new but close by so Noche seemed like a good bet. For a Saturday night around 10, it was absolutely dead. We weren't looking for anything crazy so that was nice, just surprising. Stoli vodka drinks were on special for 4 bucks so we had a couple of those while enjoying a quiet night. Nothing special, but a good spot for a drink and decent happy hour
Review Source:I came here for Tuesday night free comedy night.
I called before to see what the age was to see the comedey (I had my younger sister staying with me and she is not 21 yet) NO one answered the phones and I called since their open time (5pm) till right before we came. I dont think their phone even rings to a live person ever, you just are supposed to leave a message. Thats annoying.
The comedies were pretty bad. Some had a couple good jokes, not much though.
There were annoying tables talking through the comedians (which is not the bars fault and Im not counting that towards the review) just saying, when there is comedy shut up and listen.
I ordered a margarita with a salted rim (like this new mexican girl knows that should be served)
I get it and the waitress apologizes that they dont actually have salt. WTF, the Marg is pretty gross, soooo sweet. So I say no thanks and get something else.
The bar food wasnt great. We got the Margherita pizza. It was like crust and cambels tomato soup poured on top for salt and then one small white melted dot of mozzerells per slice.
The salad had balsamic vinegar straight up on it for dressing. TOOOO acidic.
The waitress was, Meh, not bad just like bored with life.
and it was FRRREEEEEEEZING. It was the first cooler day in Philly and they had the AC cranking and the fans on at 11pm at night.
I asked if the could turn the fans off or turn the air off and the waitress said that it was hot by the bar so probably not but she would ask.
she never returned with an answer like "sorry manager said no" or anything. I was soo cold that we didnt stay the 2nd half of the comedy (Not that it would have gotten any better)
and I walked by the bar to the bathroom and it was NOT warmer.
I might come back. Dont judge based off of one time. I feel like it might have potential.
Noche is great for Happy Hour! They have Stoli specials then, as well as some food items. The food and drinks are good, and it's cool to be in there as it gets dark. Since it's almost entirely surrounded by windows, it gets dark as it gets darker outside, which is a cool effect. I agree that it's a bit of an awkward set-up with the empty floor space, which would probably be better served for seating, since it's not a dance floor-type place (or has never been when I've visited.) All in all, though, a great place to meet up with friends and get a little tipsy!
Review Source:This review is strictly based on the times I have gone for happy hour.
First of all, let me say that if you are looking to "see and be seen", this is not the place for you. Â If you are looking to have a few drinks and some good conversation with friends, this may be for you. Â They have $3 Stoli mixes on special which do not dissapoint-no watery drinks here. Â In addition to their drink specials, they have $5 pizzas which are big enough for 3.
I highly recommend this place if you are looking to enjoy the company  you're with away from the big happy hour crowds.
I am never going to Noche again.
I haven't been there for food, so I can't speak to that. But I have been there twice for the bar/club scene, and my experience could not have been worse. The place is tiny and uncomfortable crowded, with people constantly pushing their way, usually without anything vaguely resembling politeness, toward the bathroom. And if you're near the bar, you're on the way to the bathroom, so you WILL get pushed past by a constant stream of people for however long you're there.
Now, story time. This past Saturday, I came to Noche with a group of people for a friend's coming-home party. By the by, my girlfriend became a bit drunk and got into a minor altercation with another girl. Not the biggest deal -- a little pushing and shoving, followed by a spilled drink -- but I understand why a bouncer came over and said she had to go.
We said fine, let's just get our jackets. So we get them, and we start walking out, and all of a sudden, TWO huge bouncers grab her (all of 120 pounds, if that) and start DRAGGING her across the floor toward the exit. When I tried to tell the one bouncer, hey, it's fine, we're just leaving, a third huge bouncer came swooping in, grabbed me by the collar, dragged me across the floor, choked me against the wall, and then very nearly threw me down the stairs. I actually had to grab onto him to keep from being thrown down that very large flight of stairs.
Somehow, the end of this was actually witnessed and dismissed by a police officer, who actually said to me, when I told him what happened, "Well, it's over now. Move on." I'm glad that the Philadelphia Police Department is employing such pillars of the community.
Reading through the other reviews, I see this isn't the first time that Noche has had issues with bouncers using unnecessary force. I have NEVER been kicked out of a bar before, much less choked for no reason by a guy who doesn't know me. Seems like a good time to call my lawyer.
3.5 stars.
I came here around 1 on Saturday night. A friend of mine who's familiar with the area said they closed at 3 which is better than the usual 1:30-2 last call at other places. There was no cover which made it better. The music was okay, and it was a nice change from the Olde City bars. For a Saturday night, it had a good amount of people. but wasn't packed. I would check this place out again next time I'm in the area.
I tried visiting here with an online voucher I purchased from LevelUp. Â I had to that point not been disappointed by their selection. Â Well this time I was, Noche seems to bill itself as this trendy, gourmet pizza club/bar. Â I hope their alcoholic beverages are better than their food.
The appetizers we got were underwhelming, the chicken taquito rolls were bland and the chicken perfectly cubed as if preprocessed.
Next came the pizza which was their house special (the Noche). Â The pizza from outward appearances already looked like it was taken from a freezer and just reheated.
The pizza quite literally looked like a pizza I could pick up at any supermarket anywhere. Â The cheese did not taste like mozzarella, the peppers and onions were perfectly cubed as well. Â The chorizo was mildly spicy and had zero to no flavor to it.
Upon reheating the leftovers the next day (don't ask me why I saved it), the cheese topping got this wrinkled wax paper look to it that I've seen happen when American cheese melts to burgers. Â I am not sure why Noche decided to use American cheese on it's pizza instead of the traditional mozzarella, but who knows.
I will not be returning to this location again anytime soon, and will not recommend it to my friends or family in the area either.
Noche's not my faaavorite bar in the world, but it certainly isn't the worst one around.
The music is typically pretty decent and the bartenders are heavy-handed. I prefer being at places like Noche before they get really packed so Noche is more of a precursor to a usually fun night out. (Sometimes a little too fun? I've actually seen people barfing before making it to the restroom, bleggghhh.) Bathroom is tucked away at the back of the establishment (no wonder people can't make it in time) and the line is always insanely long.
No cover? +1!
The music was alright, the drink prices were decent, but the crowd? Are you kidding? Last night I witnessed a girl try to duck under the arm of the bouncer tending to the bathroom line because she couldn't make it outside to puke, and another that would not loosen her grip from the bar when the kick-out song was blaring at 2am. I mean the girl was hugging the bar to try and get another drink, who does that? Drinks aren't particularly strong, but you'd think the way that these chicks were acting that they had been drugged.
The scene was ok for a Saturday night, too crowded though and you kind of got the feeling from the rowdy bunch of ladies that I already described that something was going to go down. After leaving the bar for a cigarette break with my BFF watched a Noche bouncer manhandle a girl to the ground. As he put later when we talked to the cops, he was "defending himself" because she had tried to choke him, honestly the chick was no more than 110 lbs soaking wet , the cops did absolutely nothing to side with the girl, and thought that the whole situation was absolutely repulsive. This isn't exactly my go-to spot on the weekends, and after watching the ridiculous drunk girls followed by the sidewalk events at the end of the evening can't say that I'll be making it a priority to get back here again.
Noche is perpetually crowded and noisy and lacking in seating space. I'm not really sure what the awkward swathe of floor is for between the front windows and the bar. It's like no-man's land. There are no tables and chairs and it doesn't seem to serve as a dance space either.
On a weekend evening, it's veritably impossible to reach the bar without having to throw a few punches. Once you reach the bar, you're lucky if the bartender can understand you over the awful din of the sound system.
The restrooms are at the very back of the establishment and difficult to reach when the crowd is really thick. If memory serves me correctly, there is also a rather random seeming pool table back there as well. I'm not sure if Noche is trying to be a bar or a restaurant, but it's difficult to order food when you have nowhere to sit.
I don't enjoy the crowd either - overly pretentious, popped-collar types that fancy buying a condo on Rittenhouse Square. I'd caution against having any sort of organization event/fundraider here as they tend to continue to let hordes of people in off of the street making it very hot and tight. The available food selections are also pretty mediocre. I've had better salsa from a jar. The drink specials will end up being little more than watery Miller Light.
I asked a long time Philadelphian friend to recommend a venue for my birthday that could fit a large crowd. My only stipulation was that it not be what I classify as a "sticky floor" bar.
It was the perfect Wednesday night venue. The place has a really cool ambiance, different from the other large pub-ish venues in the area. From 9 until closing, we basically had the place to ourselves, and enlisted the DJ to play request after request. I had a blast.
I hear it gets just as crowded (and lame) as the Fado/Drinkers/Irish Pub scene on weekends though.
Rightfully, I have to give No Che a 3, even though we had a 5-star night there.
This is because:
The drinks were SO delicious and HARD. Very easy to get trashed to in a fancy way.
The clientele is ummmmm... interesting! I haven't seen this much trash in Philly in one room in my entire life. Now I know some of the kids down there are wardrobe challenged, but this was definitely a load of trust fund babies who thought they were fashionable, may have been under-aged and were definitely interested in getting trashed and laid. cheers guys! The girls and I had a GREAT time making fun of you all night.
Does Noche mean night? Either way, Noche served as a relaxing end to ours.
Heading upstairs, we flashed our IDs (no cover!) before seating ourselves. After ordering, a server brought a couple redheaded sluts to our table. They tasted delicious. (Shots, not ladies. Not that time.)
Their $3 beers were crowd-pleasers, and the crowd wasn't absurd, even for a Friday night. Someone queued rock on their jukebox, and we chatted, staring out at the rain.
The less poplar (probably only because you have to walk up some stairs) older sister to Drinkers. Great aesthetics, OK drink specials, attentive bar tenders and plenty of bathrooms. Even a pool table!
I've only been here once -- last night -- and we had to leave after one drink because I hate shouting at my drinking companions only inches from my face and am still not sure they actually heard what I said. I never understood that about bars -- crank the music up high over the buzz of conversation so people talk louder so crank the music higher so people are yelling and deaf. Gimme a quiet dive bar any day.
Nice place, just turn it down about a hundred decibels, please.
Kudos to the bar staff for listening to my suggestion and moving the pool table out of the way. We went there on Saturday night and there was a lot more space with the pool table out of the way. Granted there wasn't a fundraiser going on, so there was more space too.
I am a fan, as the bartenders are great at getting drinks served in a reasonable amount of time and very responsive in that crazy environment. Still bit of a loud environment, but then again on a Saturday night, everyone is out to have a good time.
No Thanks, Noche...
I'll try my bar-hand elsewhere next time... this lounge/restaurant/bar fell flat in more ways than one for my group on Thursday night.
For starters, the 'bouncer' out front needs to get off his Nokia when he's working. For Realz. Don't grab my arm - actually, don't EVER touch me - and motion for my i.d. when I walk right past you because you look like a random dude standing outside a bar having a phone conversation. Try looking like you're actually doing your job and perhaps keep your hands to yourself, thanks.
Secondly, had the atmosphere here in fact been worthy of the minor physical assault I received out front then I'd likely let the infraction slide. Aka a good party means bad manners may be quickly forgiven. Nah, unfortunately Noche follows suit and remains dependably uninteresting.
Almost zero crowd, lackluster interior, booths that are falling apart, no wait staff on hand, the stench of lager past lingering in the air... even bad electronic music to snivel by. Yep, you too would be whimpering by now, don't lie.
1 extra star for a cutie plaid shirt-wearing bartender that was super sweet to our group but ultimately unable to salvage this sad Noche.
Went here with an old classmate I reunited with after twenty one years and Noche was the victor for our last drink in Center City.
The bar is located upstairs where two bouncers welcomed us at the door. It was pouring rain outside and decided to take shelter sans umbrellas.
There's a pool table on one end and a few tables at the other end. We settled right by the bar and ordered drinks. I had a newcastle and was good for the night. Our bartender was not friendly. He wasn't chatty or particularly beaming with sunshine either.
I'd definitely skip this place the next time I'm in town!
My crew of ladies started our Friday girls' night out at Noche. Â The place was crowded (but not overly so) around 7:30. Â We grabbed a booth (which are very poorly constructed, I might add--unless reclining into your neighbor's table is supposed to happen) and ordered some nachos and a pitcher of beer. Â Had we arrived earlier, we would have been able to take advantage of the buy one get one pizzas and half priced apps. Â Luckily, Noche's nachos were worth their regular price. Â The mountain of chips (some of which were a little browned from the oven--my favorite!) with cheese, chicken, jalapenos, sour cream, black beans, salsa and guacamole was the perfect meal to kick off the weekend. Â Our server kept our pitchers a-coming, and the experience as a whole was pleasant. Â
One thing I don't get is the pool table. Â It takes up way too much real estate, and it's almost impossible to get to either the juke box or bathroom without being speared in the kidney by a pool stick.
This place is noisy, poorly laid out, and full of various prepsters and lawyers with money to waste.
Our server padded the tab significantly. Upon further examination the prices on the receipt were higher than what was listed on the menu. The drink counts were totally inaccurate.
That's the last $500 tab you stick us with Noche!
This place was pretty empty. Fine by me. Waitress was super nice and checked on us several times. That goes a long way. $4 Grapefruit vodka? Hell yeah.
$5 pitchers of Horrible Beer? Whatever..I aint drankin it.
As the afternoon went on the crowd was really annoying, it's not the fault of the bar though. Too many shaved head suits. Have skinsheads started wearing a full suit now??
Yup, I live in Center City. Â
Yup, I like convenient places to grab a drink/meet up with a friend. Â
Nope, I never ever think to go to Noche.
It's a darkish, open room with a pool table, some booths, and a bar. Â There are some loud "young professionals" there. Â That's about it. Â I've been here a couple times and left with no significant memories whatsoever. Â
There's nothing terribly wrong with Noche, it's just so nondescript and uninteresting, I'd much prefer to share a 6-pack with a friend in my apartment. Â Even for those who don't live nearby, there are plenty of other bars with more personality, better beers, and much better food to make this worth the trip or the money. Â If you're on that end of Chestnut, I'd recommend Devil's Alley. Â Or just go somewhere else in the city....all these places are pretty lame anyway.
$8.50 for two top shelf cosmos...SPECTACULAR!
Of course, I was one of five customers there so they were probably happy to have a "crowd" but I'm willing to drink alone for $4.25 cosmos :)
People seem to dig the pool table here. Â So if you're a pool shark, come on up. Â Unfortunately Noche is NOT handicap accessible so please keep that in mind. Â
Noche also seemed to have a lot of HH specials so do it up you 5-7 drinkers.
I've covered the 4 Corners Management bars that I don't like (Drinker's Pub, and Drinker's Tavern), And I covered the one that I enjoy the most (Bar Noir). So I may as well cover another one of their bars that I can tolerate and have a good time in.
NoChe can have the same crowd as both Drinker's (it's directly above the one on Rittenhouse). But while theirall overcrowding the bar area, you and your closest friends can practically take over the posh and comfortable booths by the back. their the perfect spot for good bar conversation and soaking up some suds. The windows by them also have a pretty good view of the Rittenhouse streets below.
Going to the overcrowded bar portion for your drinks can be the one flaw. but once you make your way through you'll find some well rounded drinks (not too divey yet nothing overly fancy either) and some bartenders who can be friendly considering what their dealing with. while the jukebox does serve up plenty of duds, it can be pro 80's. I'm also giving it up to NoChe for the friendly door people. it's definitely never going to be the first place on my list for the evening, but I'll be back.
Wednesday Night Review.
Was there post-dinner from about 8:30-11pm...
Like most have said, it was fairly tame. It's on the 2nd floor, with rather steep steps leading up --- I can DEFINITELY imagine some drunken tumbles up and/or down those steps. Buyer Beware.
Without it being crowded, I was able to actually check out the place. Nothing too fancy. Just a long bar, a few tall tables, wall-lined booths.
They have four bathrooms... two uni-sex, and one for each gender. Can definitely see it being essentially one men, three women on the weekends.
Drinks were averaged price. My first ketel-soda seemed a bit light. The 2nd and 3rd seemed a bit stronger ;)
They have some pretty good happy hour (5-7pm) pitcher/draft specials. roughly $2-4/pint, and I think $5-7/pitcher. They also have a "regular" special menu which included $3 bud lights(I think) as well as $3 jager shots and $6 jager bombs --- definitely catered to the "let's get bombed" crowd.
Coo place. I suppose.
The drinks are small but the space is hott! Â
It's dim it's full of ambiance and beauty. Â
I will agree...most of the time it's pretty empty...unless we come in...lol Sue travels with a crew...so we pack it up! Â So if you're looking for someplace that will be able to accommodate a large group...check out Noche!
