A few friends from the local area and I got dinner at The Office not too long ago.

Let's start with the atmosphere. There's two distinct areas giving you the best of both worlds when it comes to socially eating. There's a loud and social bar area with a wide selection of beers and some tables if you're into that, and there's a quieter restaurant area if you're into that.

The menu was impressive with lots of dishes that I would typically order. The buffalo calamari special appetizer that we shared was delicious and my chicken sandwich was pretty tasty, too. My friends got burgers, each of them looking good. I'd stay away from the french fries next time, though. The sweet potato fries looked great, while the french fries weren't anything really to write home about.

All in all, I'd go again if I was in the area.

This place has an updated new menu , I started with the delicious ahi tuna fish taco with slaw and Wahhabi mayo . Then onto my scrumptious slow braised short ribs, over mash potatoes, and sauteed garlic spinach ! Did I mention the gravy on the short ribs! 2 die 4!
The inside out burger oozes with loads of cheese., lettuce, tomato and onion on a brioche roll. Last but not least ,you must order the warm chocolate chip cookie skillet with vanilla ice cream on top.

p.s. this is not on the menu but if u like short ribs try them in a taco  w cilantro  topping on your next visit . The chef will make it special order.

also they have nice assortment of beers on tap and many different drink specialties.

They have really stepped up their beer game in the last year or so. Nice selection of craft and micro beers, and a great rotation of seasonals and limited run beers. They also have a nice selection of bottle beers. The food is you average "bar and grill" style food. The last time I was there I had a very nice steak wrap. The steak was cooked well, and the lettuce and tomato tasted fresh. My son always gets chicken fingers, and they are pretty freekin good. The service is always good and very attentive. If you keep it simple, you won't be disappointed.

From the outside it looks great. Inside this place seems fine when you sit down: dark wood? Check! Tin ceiling? Check! Decent crowd with decent vibe? Check!  Cold draught beer? Check!
    Food quality? Uh...Check please!

Yeah come here for a quick cold beer and unwind, then head elsewhere for some real food. Seriously this place messed up Sysco food--how is that even possible?

A parting shot--boss, if you're the food runner and you deliver the appetizer after the burger has already arrived, don't blame the server in front of me. Talk to me, I'm the customer. Be goo to your servers at least in public.

Office BB&G's in general aren't very good when it comes to the food. They sometimes have decent beer specials (especially during HH) but for the most part if you have the munchies more than likely you will strike out.
Unfortunately this location is no different. For the most part the service is so/so but the food is never good. Always leave disappointed (and anyone I go with). Nothing seems to hit the spot.
For a quick drink stop by (while waiting for the train). Other than that, nothing to venture here for.

This place is just awful.  I ordered their ISO burger advertised as being filled with cheese, the cheese exploded out of the burger on my first bite.  The chicken fingers were under cooked and fatty...how do you mess up chicken fingers?  No one under the age of 45 goes to this bar.

I love coming to The Office for a drink with my friends or boyfriend. The food is typical chain bar food (burgers, steaks, salads, apps). It isn't anything to write home about but it's a great lubricant for the alcohol. The staff is laid back (though sometimes they seem understaffed) and cool and the atmosphere is casual.

This place is more about the company you're keeping or the game you're watching than the food.

love this place... it's our go-to. new management, new head chef, and they're renovating the space a bit. they hire great, easy-going servers. the menu was recently updated and it's definitely an upgrade, they let the kids run around, they have all the football games on at the same time in the bar area, the bartenders are attentive if you're bellied up. it's a good pub. the food is not spectacular, but it gets the job done and there are some goodies on the menu (the tomato bisque is awesome; so are the soft pretzels).

I have been to this place a few times - before or after taking the train from Summit, but I hadn't been back here for a while.  We had about an hour or so before our train left, so we went in to try and grab some food and have a couple drinks.

Yes - I read some of the other reviews, so I was a little hesitant about going here and grabbing a quick bite.  But, this place totally delivered.  We walked in and the bar was almost totally packed, but we were able to grab 2 bar stools near the end.  The bartender came over and showed us a happy hour menu.  They had $2 domestic drafts and a bunch of different appetizers for $5.  We were pleasantly surprised.

We ordered a couple of beers and I asked the bartender how long the apps would take because we had a train to catch.  She told they would take about 5-10 minutes so we ordered some wings and some nachos.  Much like the bartender said, they came out in about 10 minutes.

I am a HUGE fan of the wings here.  I love Buffalo wings and they do them right here.  I prefer breaded wings and that's how the Office does them.  I actually think they have some of the best wings for a chain restaurant.  I prefer them over Buffalo Wild Wings.  The wings came out awesome and tasted exactly how I remembered them.

The nachos were pretty plain and average, but for $5 who really cares?  I saw someone else get the Spinach Artichoke dip and that looked real good.

So, we came in with a less than an hour before our train had 4 beers total and 2 appetizers and spent just over $20.  You can't beat that.  Phenomenal happy hour.  If you have some time before your train, definitely give this place a shot.

Was getting take out on a Tuesday night after 9:00 dining room was empty bar had some people but I wouldnt call it busy.

Got there 10 minutes after they said it would be ready and after waiting another five for someone at host desk food was not ready.

After another ten minutes and  food still not ready so I ask why is it taking so long and they say because it is busy I try and point out that it is not busy but they just say it is almost ready.  All this wait for over priced average food.

I had one of the best burgers I have had at the office ever. I have been here many times and I think that the food has gotten better. Good times

The Office is not a place to bring your wife on an anniversary. It is a place to go after work on any day of the week to relax with beer in a social, non-hostile atmosphere.

I really like going to The Office on a Friday night after work with just a few of my friends to sit at the bar or in a booth. We shoot the shit for a couple of hours, drink beers, get some appetizers. That is basically it.

The food is decent. Nothing great, but at 10:00 p.m. on a Friday night, I'm not looking for Filet Mignon. They also have a lot of different beers on tap, which is nice to have rather than a Coors' Light. The jukebox is decent as well, most of the time if you jump on it, you can hear your song within a couple of minutes.

The crowd at The Office is mostly people hopping off the train across the street and some younger people from the area. At any point in time, the bar will be filled with five 60 year olds, then four 22 year olds, then two 35 year olds. It is a good mix for everyone.

All in all, The Office does what it is suppose to do after work. Relax me with beers, food, music, and laid back people.

Go for the bar if you're desperate, NOT for the food. We missed he train, and decided to eat here. Wish we hadn't. Here's our experience.

Wait at the empty hostess stand for 5 minutes. no help. Grabbed menus from under the stand and went to find a seat on our own. Host comes back and seats the people who had come in behind us and says in a rude manner "Where are THEY going?" but doesn't help us. I stand there for 2 more minutes, until I flag down a server who points at a table.
    We order the following;

Spinach Artichoke dip - **** Really good, but we waited for 25 minutes with empty drinks before we got it.

Ceaser Salad with Med. rare steak - ** The steak was good, but the romaine was unwashed and tasted dirty. There was no dressing on it. The garlic bread was stale. After waiting for 5 minutes, I got my side of ceaser dressing. It was watery and clearly came from a giant store-bought vat. We still have empty drinks.

Beef fajitas - ** The vegetables weren't cooked long enough, and there was a huge piece of wax paper balled up in the meat.

It took us over an hour to get our entrees. Our drinks were refilled once when we flagged him down. No one was helpful or nice, everyone walked around like a zombie and our server was very unprofessional. I've been a server, and even when you don't want to be at work, you don't show it. The server told us they kitchen was backed up, but a manager never came around to the angry patrons to calm them down... which is almost always the first thing that happens. $45.00 later, without tip, we left hungry and mad. This particular Office sucks! AVOID IT! I like the one in Bridgewater though.

I have a special fondness for this place that I can't really explain...its the first bar all my friends and I hung out at when we first turned 21, and frequented it for a number of years before I moved on.... The bartender girls were always really friendly (very HOTT too) and funny. This was one of those bars where a good night of drinking would earn you a couple of free drinks for sure...Usual bar food, good drink specials, it used to be $2 Coronas Tuesdays, $2 Pints Weds, Some girly drinks Thursday and no specials Friday if i remember correctly. Directly next to the Summit train station. Perfect to meet someone for a quick in-and-out drink or two...careful Cops hang out at the station on Thursdays/Weekends lookin for drunks drivin and WILL pull you over

An old stand by.  Food is quality, there's definitely a good line if between restaurant and bar depending on what your looking for.  Drink specials are usually good and beer selection is pretty good too.  Wait staff is good, and generally a solid place to catch a game.

My neck of the woods of Jersey doesn't exactly have much of a bar scene.  Or a scene of any kind for someone who is under 35 and single, of which I am currently both.

I had an hour to kill after missing the train into Manhattan to watch some Penn State football.  I wanted a beer and some decent food, so I walked across the street to The Office.  I got the former, but found this bar desperately lacking in the latter.

The Office does have a solid beer selection with a number of beers on tap, and there were a decent number of TVs showing all sorts of the college football games of the day.  But I can't go above two stars because the buffalo chicken fingers were some of the most salt infused things I've ever eaten.  I don't know this for sure, but I think these were the frozen chicken fingers we used to buy in huge one size fits 50 drunken frat boys for our fraternity house in college dusted with some hot sauce.  If I wasn't starving and didn't expect to have a chance to eat again, I wouldn't have eaten more than one.

It's probably better during a happy hour or Friday/Saturday night time, and if I make it back for something like that I'll be sure to re-review, but I had bad food in an empty bar.  Basically, stay for the beer selection, but maybe plan to eat elsewhere.

    PROS
-Beer selection.  Arrogant Bastard, along with a dozen others, on tap.  An impressive bottle selection of crafts and imports.  And the prices won't destroy your wallet.
-Chill atmosphere.  No need to dress up or puff your chest out.  I've sat alone plenty of times at the bar and chatted it up with the old-timers.  Not to say there isn't also a young crowd there.
-Decent wings.  Not amazing, but not bad.  A good pub choice.

    CONS
-Don't trust Happy Hour prices.  I've ordered before the end of happy, and when I received my check, they were normal prices.  You may have to point it out.
-Dry burger.  Their burger is a bit bland.  I found myself slopping on condiments to make up for the dry lettuce and patty.
-Music selection.  Expect alot of top 40 and dated hip-hop.  Bring some dollar bills to pick things off of the jukebox.  (Funny story: I once put on some old school metallica and some annoying girl made her boyfriend buy a bunch of music she wanted since she couldn't stand some authentic rock n' roll.)

Listen, for a bar in the middle of a quaint Jersey commuter city, The Office ain't bad.  If you're looking for and alternative to Hoboken or NYC, look elsewhere.

It serves Arrogant Bastard on tap.  I drank it all night.  My co-workers agreed, yes, that was an appropriate ale for me.  Of course, I already knew that, and I told them so.
