I visited Angie's Luncheonette on a recent Saturday afternoon. Â Though we passed several other restaurants, this was the only one that was open and didn't have crowds of people waiting to be seated. Â There was no wait at Angie's and we were hungry so we opted to try it out since all we wanted was simple diner fare which is pretty difficult to mess up.
Even if they were giving the food away at Angie's they wouldn't have a need for crowd control. Â The waffle was of the prepackaged variety and was dry and tasteless. Â The cottage cheese tasted off and the fruit surrounding it was desiccated. Â The fries arrived in one tangled, greasy knot. Â I can't attest for the coffee but I noticed our waitress using her hands to get ice for the water glasses twice. Â Â
Save yourself from potential intestinal distress and unpalatable food and avoid Angie's.
I'm a resident of Chatham so I frequent Angie's quite a bit. The food is very good and the prices are reasonable. If you are a true local you can even leave a coffee mug that they will keep clean and ready to fill behind the counter on a shelf.
The coffee is good and as noted this is a good place during the week to read your paper and catch a bite to eat. During the weekends it's pretty busy in the mornings. I've been going to Angie's for about 5 years now.
While I will frequent other area diners, Angie's is my first choice.
