I liked the place, but wasn't blown away.  The staff could have been more welcoming and was a bit aloof, but the food was made fresh to order and was tasty.  I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap and it had great flavor and was served with grilled chicken instead of fried.  I was surprised by how small it was, but there was about a pound of fries to compliment the wrap.  I am always looking for good lunch places by work and this will likely find its way into the rotation.  I'll be back here soon to try other menu items and their lunch specials.

Everything I've had here is very very good. They definitely know how to cool a good meal at the Old Neighborhood.

The staff is very friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be back, often!

great little neighborhood spot to grab some decent grub for a great price.  for a smaller place the menu is extensive.  primarily mediterranean stuff(kabobs, gyros, salads) but with all the american feel good stuff like burgers and beefs.  great for kids and the prices wont kill you.  occassionally they will have live music on the weekends and they recently got their liquor license.  filled with younger crowd as well as families with kids.  overall very good tasting quick food with a nice setting.  the owner john is also a great guy

Good food / fair prices/ friendly. We order lunch frequently here. Unfortunately lately one staff member has been quite rude. This has become a real problem. Unable to speak to owner .We hope this YELP alerts owner.Would hate for one employee to destroy the reputation & business of ONG .

Friendly little neighborhood hot dog and hamburger joint that also serves ups some great Greek dishes.  Super-friendly staff and a clean, bright atmosphere.

ONG is a good place to grab some quick grub or take the kiddies to grab a burger and fries.  The gyros are great.  The cheese sticks come in mozzarella and blue varieties.  If you like blue cheese try the sticks.  They have a buffalo sauce flavor that is quite good.

I hear about this place from my sister and we decided to give it a shot about a month ago - I am so glad we did...  We have been back several times...  The food is great and the young guy in glasses who takes orders on the register is supper hot!!!

Old Neighborhood Grill is perfectly named. It's the kind of place you want to have around the corner: solid, basic Chicago-style diner (the usual Greek items, burgers, sandwiches, salads, daily specials) at very decent prices served up by a super friendly staff in an inviting, family friendly atmosphere. The new back deck is terrific in the warmer months. A great place for a low-key, quick weeknight meal or weekend lunch.

Good food, but a little pricey. They cater to children and get to know the regulars pretty well. I like the tacos best and order them almost every time, but the burgers and gyros are good too. Looking for a buffalo chicken sandwich? I don't recommend this one. It is also hard to find a seat because of all the families with little kids scattered all over the place.

My wife and I tried this place not too long ago and liked it. The service was quick and friendly and the food was good for the price they ask. The outside of the restaurant looks quaint and homely while the inside is small with eclectic decor. I'll say this: The restaurant isn't much for atmosphere, but given the price, I didn't mind at all. I had a great cheeseburger here and my wife's Spanikopita was just so-so. The Greek potatoes she had weren't very good at all and it made me wonder if this place might be better off sticking to cheeseburgers and sandwiches. Sometimes when you try to do too much on a menu, you end making a whole lot of different dishes but none of them turn out great. I think that might be the problem here. However, part of their claim to fame is the diversity of their menu. We were there on a Friday night and maybe we hit them on an off night for Greek food. I can't complain about the burger and will be back for another soon. If you are looking to get a good burger, this is your place. Not so sure about the other specialties though.

This place has great burgers and greek food.  Great place for families -- food is reasonably priced, served fast and tastes good.

We go here at least 2-3x's per month.

This place is disgusting. I ordered a hotdog and it came a while later, but it was FROZEN. They gave me a new one, but it was nothing special. I don't know what all the hype about this place is for.

This place is the best. Great food, staff is sooo friendly. Really good prices. Not a whole lot of places in the area you can get this kind of food, so that is a great benefit. Where else can you get a bomb burrito, with a gyros and a hot dog under one roof? Beer garden in the summer, you say? Yes, please.

I wasn't flat out amazed, but I REALLY liked the place.  It's a cute little family business.  I expected a sit-down place, but I liked that it was an order at the counter place.  The Greek food was awesome.  My boyfriend's dad had a chicken kabob and loved it, my boyfriend had a gyro  and (typically a picky eater with Greek), really enjoyed it.  I had a veggie burger (because I was in a hurry to pick something!), but it was really good! They had great fries.

The place is small, but has really large booths for big groups.  There were lots of parents with small children, and the employees were SO friendly and cute with them! The big head guy was leaning over the counter and talking to a little boy at one point.

Overall, it's in a nice part of town and has a great atmosphere. It's fast and super cheap! Appetizers are mostly around $2!

This is my favorite "family friendly" place in the North Shore!  The staff is wonderful and incredibly accommodating and the food is actually Very Good!  Which you rarely get in places where you don't feel bad bringing the kids!  The Nachos are awesome and very authentic!  I also love the greek salad with gyro meat on top!!  Its also BYOB so how can you beat that?!

The staff, food, atmosphere is fantastic. If you want awesome Mexican food, seriously it was AMAZING, if you want Greek, they nail it. If you have a horrible relationship to food and are allergic to everything like me-- they have gluten free pita and rolls, and will cook it all in your own skillet and ask you 100 questions. I love the owner and his staff, they are courteous, kind, silly and just amazing good eggs. It's great for the family, great for quick lunches, super clean and the game is always on.

    I love neighborhood grill!

Love this place.  Quick, easy, fantastic and great selection for the whole family.  I am addicted to the greek chicken pita (like a gyro, but with grilled chicken).  Fantastic.  Glad its in the hood.

Once again, my Evanston friend exposed me to Old Neighborhood Grill and it was savory and delicious, perfect for the occasion, regardless of what it may be. I HIGHLY recommend their feta burger--so delicious--and their chicken pita. The tzatziki sauce was running down my face as I was eating it, which, when hungover, is nothing short of amazing. Their sweet potato fries were also little slices of heaven. I wish I lived in Evanston so I could eat here all of the time.

Best burger joint in my hometown, and this comes from a guy who grew up eating at Herms.(Sorry herms) This place still feels new, but I wanna say its been here for some time now. But boy, it is delicious. The burgers are thick and reasonably priced. They are a meal all to themselves. The fries are good, but if you are willing to spend an extra buck, go for the sweet potato fries. They're awesome. The people who run the place are extremely friendly, and the owner is particular is very nice. He even tries to get to know you a bit. Can't complain about anything here. The gyro sandwich is also good and so is the Greek chicken. Just walk in, sit down, and eat great food, and you'll walk out stuffed, with your wallet not hurt at all.

This place wasn't quite what I was expecting but that's not a criticism. Despite it's name, it's not old--dating back only a year--and while I was expecting it to be a menu and waitress place, it's basically a burger/dogs/gyros joint where you order off a menu board. I never mind one of those, and it's worth noting that Old Neighborhood Grill is a bit larger and cleaner than most hot dog stands.

I had Gyros which was quite good though nothing unusual, accompanied--as part of a Gyros plate--by Greek potatoes. While I imagine I will eat here again, it seems to be a good place to visit if you're in the neighborhood--and the western stretch of Central St. in northern Evanston certainly needed some dining options--but I don't know that it's a place you particularly need to seek out.

It's been in our neighborhood for a while, but we just hadn't gotten out of the old routine. I'm glad we finally did. The staff is friendly and inviting, our kids were a little rambunctious yet fit in, and the prices are very reasonable.

The food is good, but not great. My wife had the chicken salad and while I thought it was good, she was unimpressed (and thought it had way too many onions). I had the bacon cheese burger - great bacon with an average burger. Still, I liked it and will definitely order again. My son had a plain cheese burger and ate it all up! My daughter ate the char-dog which I snuck a bite of and it was as good (if not as big) as other char-dogs in Chicago. The fries were pretty good as well.

There is outdoor seating in the back which would be great on a nice day (it was raining for us), and I really like that it is BYOB (why get overcharged for alcohol only a few blocks from home, right?).

All in all, this is a great neighborhood restaurant that is friendly, comfortable and kind to your wallet. Worth a try.

They have a nice and relaxing seating area in the back, on a wood deck, with nice flowers adding to the ambiance.  The greek salad was made with iceberg lettece, and I was hoping for romaine.  won't order it again.  my friend had chicken caesar, and that looked good, i'll probably try it next time.  nice place.  will go back (this was the first time there).  i also mainly went for a quick bite with outdoor seating.

We've been here a few times, and it's always been good.  The menu has a good variety of greek items, as well as sandwiches, hamburgers, sausages, and salads.

I liked the buffalo chicken sandwich, it has crumbled blue cheese on top. The sweet potato fries were quite good, crispy and well done. My wife liked the barbecue chicken sandwich.  My daughter ate her entire hot dog which is unusual.  The whole family ate for under $20.  A nice addition to the neighborhood.  They have a nice back patio as well.

The best greek/american restaraunt ever!!!! Their burgers are sooooo juicy. 1/2 Angus beef. Now, that is what I am talking about. Their gyros are so awesome. I really like their Greek Salads and Fried Cod with Skordalia (greek mashed potatoes). The owners are friendly. Prices are actually really reasonable. The best food in town.
