The website falsely advertises free entry and a free drink if you text to a specific number. I texted the number and received confirmation stating me and my 5 guests were on the guest list. I even received a text confirmation the day of "reminding" me of our reservations. So when we arrive and say we're on the guest list the chick at the door looks at me like I'm insane, and says there is no list on Saturdays. I showed her the text, and she sent me to talk to the manager. The manager said there is no list on Saturdays. When I showed him the text confirmation he said I had to be there before 11pm! Nobody goes to a club before 11pm! Nor did the text say that anywhere. And, for the record, there was another group of girls who came up just behind us with the same "reservation."
Alas, we paid the cover anyways... Drinks are over priced. (As with anywhere around here.) But the music is always on point. The DJ kept us dancing all night long!
I went last night because the 2 other times I'd gone it was cool- girls got in free before midnight, and it was $10 after midnight I think, and the whole club was open- one room at reggae and one much larger room more top 40 music. Last night was the third night I've ever been there, also on a weekend, and yet it was completely different (in a bad way). It was $20 per person to get in, for men and women, and the worst part was that at the door they didn't tell us that $20 only gets you into the small room (now a "hip-hop" room I'd call it more than reggae or anything else). The room was very warm and very crowded and the bar was packed with a very long wait to get a drink. To get into the other room cost you another $20 per person which is simply ridiculous- just to walk 10 feet and listen to different music, when you already paid $20 just to get in? No thanks. So, we were stuck in the small room where most of the music was thankfully at least pretty good and the DJ was fine (though full of the usual offensive, derogatory to women comments as DJs often are unfortunately), though some of the music left most people not dancing because they were bizarre- songs clearly no one had ever heard before and were not easy to dance to, yet the DJ left them on the entire song.
The final straw for Opium is that even on nights when women get in free etc. the drinks are still outrageous for Hard Rock- $10 and up for mixed drinks that are mostly ice and juice in tiny cups, or $8 and up for a beer, $10-$20 for typical shots, there's really no good option here. It's fine if your plan is to pre-game somewhere else, then come here before midnight and hope to get in free. But I'd never pay money to get in here again, to get stuck in a small room with way too many people, long bar lines, overpriced drinks and average music.
30 cover and 12 dollar drinks(bud light).. this is NOT south beach OPIUM, this is FT.LAUDERDALE.  The dj didnt play good music and no where to dance and sit..the dance floor is clogged up with so called vip tables.. they have like 100 bouncers in there who are very rude and intrusive on you every single second  as soon as you light a cigarette they flash the light on you to check and see if ts weed.  I felt so uneasy in there.  Its definitely not comfortable when you have ALL THESE BOUNCERS COMING UP TO YOU EVERY SECOND THINKING YOUR SMOKING WEED WHEN ITS JUST A CIG..CANT THEY SMELL FIRST?..guys please do me a favor and dont waste your hard earn money on this place PLEASE!!!  I felt like everyone was spying on me in there..really ridiculous when all we are trying to do is have fun...
