This review is more about the service and kitchen more so than it is about the comedy; after all, this is a comedy club. Keep in mind there is a 2 drink minimum per person as well.
My girls and I went last Saturday night to see Impractical Jokers  Walked up the box offices got our tickets and got a large sharpie X on our left hands. I went first and mine was so large that all my friends after me asked for a 'smaller X' Way to make me look like I'm underage. The rest of the evening I proceeded to get carded everywhere we went! Thanks for that one!  How about a stamp or a wristband what are you guys in the 80's?
We got there early for our VIP meet and greet, that was supposed to start at 5:15pm. Â We got there a little late and at 6 pm everyone was still waiting in line??? Â There was no free drink that went along w/ this experience, no champagne reception, no bottle of bud so don't expect to much. Essentially we paid $120 for 5 to 10 mins for time and some photos. Â We were the last group to meet them. Â After we took pictures the usher escorted us back outside to the waiting room...only to turn around again and have all the VIP tickets to line up again for seating. Can one say Chinese fire drill? Â We all thought this was pretty dumb why didn't they just leave us in there? Â So we lined up again, waited some more, and finally were sat down. Â
Our waiter was very nice and greeted us promptly. Â We ordered drinks and spinach dip to share as the show started at 7 and we all skipped lunch. Â After looking at the menu, and I remembered their food being good, we all were very challenged at what to order. I really wanted the buffalo chicken wrap w/ grilled chicken instead of fried chicken and blue cheese dressing on the side, my friend said that sounded fab to her as well, and she'd like the same think as long as the kitchen could do it. Well guess what.... the kitchen said "no" (which I hate).
I had ordered a back-up meal steak salad, dressing on the side just in case. My friend had not, so she ordered Cesar salad add chicken, dressing on the side. Mind you she put her order in last. Her food came out in 5 mins; whereas, ours was among the missing. I think the thing that pissed her and I off the most was the grilled chicken was already pre-shredded and served on the side in a bowl. So to substitute the grilled chicken vs fried chicken probably would've saved the kitchen time as it looked like it was prepared much earlier and was cold not hot. Â And they served the dressing on the salad.
We waited about 10 mins, after checking in with our waiter as the whereabouts of the rest of our food, and the other 3 of us got our meals. My steak was very tough, almost inedible (in fact I only ate half of it) and came with the dressing on the salad INSTEAD of on the side. Â My veggie friend had an EXTREMELY hard time finding anything to eat on the menu and settled on a salad (vinaigrette instead of ranch/blue cheese) Â & the pretzel sticks (cheese sauce which she doesn't eat on the side). Guess what. Dressing is messed up again...her salad was covered in dressing that she didn't eat so she had to send it back. So poor thing had to wait some more.
Now mind you, we paid $60 per person for our tickets and we drank and ate. They include tip on the bill, whether you like it or not, AND also don't have the waiters disclose that to you, something I also hate. Our bill for drinks and food for 4 people with very sub par food was $172. So, it landed up being a $100 experience for each of us.
IF I were to go back, and that is very doubtful, I would not eat there. I would eat before and opt for the later show. I remember going here about 5 years ago and the food being very good, but what they have done to the menu is subpar and full of fatty choices. Even their grilled chicken is served w/ butter soaked green beans and mashed potatoes.
It seems the Improv is another functionality of the terrible experiences the HardRock seems to be consistently delivering these days.
Went here because a friend had purchased tickets for a show. The place is nice and roomy. However, they fill the place to capacity, so make sure you get there early for a good seat. The drinks are VERY HIGH and you HAVE TO PURCHASE AT MINIMUM 2 DRINKS ( it's their policy?!). Anyway, a good place to hang with friends for a laugh. Just make sure you go when it's a comedian that you have heard of LOL. I would definitely try it out again.
Review Source:This Improv gets some pretty famous acts to perform here; however, the local (and unheard of) comedians tend to be funnier than the national acts. Â The club itself is not bad and they just redid their menu which was ever so needed. Â The food is on par with any venue of this sort. Â The waiters and waitresses are hit or miss. Â I've had really good ones and had really bad ones. Â Some of them don't hound you for the two drink minimum as long as you order food and at least one drink. Â Others will keep reminding you about that second drink no matter what you order. Â
The showroom is nice and open and there aren't any terrible seats in the house. Â
I'm not a huge fan of stand up comedy but I do like going to this venue.
