My Husband and I came here at the end of December 2012. Happy Hour here is AMAZING!!!!! So much yummy food for superb prices! Grab a Revolution Pale Ale or an Angry Orchard Cider and kick back! Truffle Fries with fresh Parmesan for $4, uh yes please! I loved my Chopped Salad with fresh huge chunks of chicken breast, (just skip the Crostini garnish-No Bueno.) Husband loved his sliders and said they were seasoned well. The music in the restaurant was current hits and lots of 20s and 30s somethings mulling about for a Thursday night.

I'm from out of town. Searched Yelp for cigar lounge and this place came up. The "under par cigar bar" is definitely in the works, but has HUGE potential. The space is top notch but no patrons unfortunately (upstairs was booming though). If your looking to enjoy a stick indoors stop by, but bring company.  Spread the word about this place. Highly recommend.

So is Par Bar up to par? Well, "par" means average, so yes, it is up to par and then some. And I think it is an improvement over Jimmy Figs, the name of the previous bar that had been in this location and closed.

I went to Par Bar after work on a Friday with some co-workers for happy hour, and this place was slammed. MAKE A RESERVATION! We got there at 5:15 and there were no tables left. There were tables with "reserved" signs on them, and we definitely wished we would have made a reservation for the 10 of us.

The manager (at least I think he was the manager) came over and told us there was standing room toward the back and that we could get drinks and congregate over there until a table opened up. We decided that was fine, and he guided us back to an open space near the kitchen. He used a flashlight as he walked us back there, which was kind of hilarious and awesome. This isn't a nightclub, dude! He was also super Italian and had a mustache, which added to the ridiculousness.

So anyway, it kind of sucked not having a table since we couldn't put our coats, bags or drinks anywhere, but it was OK. It's not their fault they were super packed. And a table did eventually open up, and we moved to it and were able to sit down.

The drinks are priced pretty comparably to what you'd pay at other bars in the Loop. Although no one in our group ordered any food, I did watch as the servers brought food to other tables, and it looked and smelled really good.

The service was good. The manager (although he did seem like he was more cut out for nightclub work) was very friendly and accommodating. Both of the servers we had were nice and attentive.

I guess my only complaint was that the music was turned up super loud. It was loud in there to begin with since there were so many people, but even after a lot of the people left, it still seemed like they were cranking up the tunes. Hard to talk to anyone if they're not standing right next to you, but I could probably say that about any bar in the Loop during happy hour.

I'm giving this place a tentative four stars, and I will definitely be back for happy hour. This next time we'll make a reservation!

I went to the Par Bar and Grille for lunch recently and had a great experience. i absolutely love their menu- there is something for everyone! I had the chopped salad myself and was very pleased. The dressing tasted delicious and I didn't think that the salad was overdressed (I hate when there is too much dressing). My waiter was very attentive and courteous. He paid attention to when drinks were running low, had a smile on his face, and took my order carefully. I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a great meal and great ambiance in the loop!

Me and my colleagues have come here for years as it was Jimmy Figgs before being renovated and recently name Par Bar. Figgs was doing pretty bad in the last piece of its existence with waitresses being confused on orders @ times as well as a random toilet smell throughout the bar from time to time. The food wasn't so great either.

This past Friday a former colleague wanted to try the renamed space for a couple of drinks and not to mention its right across the street from our office. The place was packed as hell, but to be expected on a  Friday evening. The decor seemed to be changed slightly and I didn't see as many TVs hanging around as there were in Figgs. They had Blue Moon winter Ale on tap which I love. The service was faster than the days of Jimmy Figgs as well. Someday I will come in and try the sliders as I saw a good review for them. The jury is still out but it looks as if thing are turning for the better with this location

I'm only review this as a cigar bar. The bar upstairs seemed fine. We were surprised at how many people were there on a Friday after work. The waitresses/bartenders are friendly.

The actual cigar bar is downstairs and is a pretty large space. It's very much in the works at the moment, with no beverages or cigars being served downstairs just yet. An owner did let us know that those things will be coming relatively soon.

Whether the promotion needs to catch to the fact that this place is open or the lack of full service downstairs who knows, but over the course of about two hours there were no more than 15 people in the cigar bar at once. Since the space is so large, you notice it.

The thing my group of six all noted is that the ventilation could be better. Par Bar was our first cigar bar of the night and the ventilation at TESA Cigar Co. was much better.

As a cigar bar, this place has a high ceiling. I hope the owners are able to realize it's potential. It hasn't been open long and I'm looking forward to seeing where it is a couple months down the road.

    Try it out.

I must say, this is probably the best spot in the Loop for lunch and happy hour. First off, the food is excellent. Everything is very well prepared, the portions are generous, and to say the menu items are reasonably priced would be an understatement (I think the most expensive item was $11?). To top things off, their service is ALWAYS spot on. Our water glasses never went empty (or even half empty) and the food was served promptly, making it an ideal spot to get in and out in under an hour and back to the office on time. Love the interior too. Will definitely be back soon!

Happy hour locations are slightly limited in the Loop, so you have to be creative, and try new spots. This place is at the top of the list for me in terms of space, crowd, and service.

The exposed brick, wood floors, and high top tables make for a clean, open setup. Great for socializing with a group and you aren't rubbing elbows with the table next to you. The crowd increased around five on a Thursday but that's expected after work.

Our waitress was awesome and you could tell she actually cared about our experience. Maybe because I prefaced with our budget amount and said make room for her 20%. I've found usually lends itself to better service (and sometimes servers just don't give a shit).

We ordered sliders, cajun chips, fried pickles, and I think a couple other things. I was more concerned about the beers flowing. The rail has 25 drafts and they make a decent Manhattan as well. The owner/manager brought out a few apps on the house and the waitress hooked us up with a free round once we hit our budget and closed out. Nice gesture.

I was sold on the space but the service put them over the top. They gave me a reason to come back. If you work in the Loop and want to grab beers this is a place you should check out. Next visit will be for lunch.

Went to the Par Bar & Grille for the first time last week and found a new favorite!  The friendly and accommodating staff, the warm atmosphere, delicious food, and reasonable prices all contributed to a great time.  Check this place out.  You won't be disappointed!
