The music, the bull, the dancers, the drunks, the debauchery. Â Great place for a post-stadium-event rage fest. Â Drunk or sober, there is plenty of people watching to do. Â Xfinity executed this place pretty well, I just wish it was about twice the size because there is barely any room to walk around circular bar and there isn't really a dance floor. Â With the music they blare out, there should really be a decent sized dance floor. Â They also need to do a better job of mopping up spills. Â I have been there on numerous occasions, between spilled drinks and rain, the floor gets soaked and very slippery. Â This is not a good thing when you want to rock out to some country jams and get your hoedown on! Â But overall, fun spot.
Review Source:It's pretty hard to come here and not have a good time. The main attraction is the mechanical bull and sometimes the workers will get on the bull and ride with you which is always funny. They play great music (country during the day and popular bar songs at night) but the only downside is there is no official dance floor. Â People just dance around the mechanical bull ring. There is a huge outdoor area with another bar and a fire pit which is great for when the weather is nice. I have eaten here a few times and I have gotten their chicken tacos. Surprisingly they were good and not greasy at all, which is what I was expecting. I also often get texts from the manager offering me happy hour specials for my friends although I have never taken them up on the offer.
Review Source:I made a reservation for 10 people at PBR and gave them over 3 weeks notice for my dear friends' bachelorette party. I emailed and spoke with their event manager, Sigourney, several times during the month before the event to make sure everything was set up and she assured me everything was. I confirmed the reservation a week before the event. When my party and I arrived on the scheduled day and time of the event, our "reserved, VIP" table was occupied by other patrons, who were partying and dancing on the table we were supposed to have. Sigourney assured me that she would have security clear out the table and set it for us. We waited for over 40 minutes (all while being pushed and shoved around in a very crowded bar) before anyone even attempted to free up our table. Not to mention that I was shoved into a staff member by another patron and the staff member yelled at me for bumping into him. HA! What a joke! The place was over crowded and probably should have been shut down by the fire marshal. I tried to keep my cool, because I didn't want to spoil the evening, but my party grew increasingly discontent with the service (or lack thereof) we were given. At no point did Signourney, the acting manager, attempt to make the situation right. No apology, no nothing. She showed no remorse, or accountability for booking a reservation, which she personally made, and clearly could not keep and then making all 10 of us wait for a "reserved" table for over 45 minutes. A simple "I'm sorry" goes a long way, and I didn't even get that. The entire party decided to take our business and our money elsewhere. I had planned this event for a month and at no time was I given any indication that keeping our reservation might be a problem. I was embarrassed and PBR should be too. I had read other reviews of PBR and wasn't expecting a 5 star restaurant, but I also wasn't expecting to have my entire party inconvenienced and have to switch venues at the last minute because of PBR's lack of preparation. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Unless of course you would like to pay to be treated poorly. I should also note that I tried to contact PBR several times to express my dissatisfaction before publicly complaining, but they never responded to me.They obviously don't care how they treat people or how they are perceived by the public. Complete disappointment!!!
Review Source:They did to do what they said they would. We made reservation at the "VIP" table about a month ago and when we got there, the bar was over crowded and the table we were suppose to sit at, people were dancing on it. The reservation was for 8pm and by 830pm we still did not have the table. The manager there was horrible and there was only 4 security guards. Thank goodness for the Spectrum Grill!!! They took care of us and honored the specials PBR was going to do for us and gave us a round of free shots. Spectrum Grill save the night!!!
Review Source:Glorified strip club. The food and service were awful. Our expectations were low to begin with and they couldn't even meet them. We showed up before lunch during a phillies and flyers game, with a sixes game later that night. They were out of three things on their extremely limited menu. The food took FOREVER. The food was awful, service was terrible and we sat in front of the bartender so there was no excuse. They were not even lose to busy and had plenty of staff standing around. The waitresses were dressed like strippers (no exaggeration). Choose another restaurant.
Review Source:I am pretty sure that I am not their target market nevertheless I am a paying customer and I kind of felt disengaged.
The place is called PBR which is an acronym for Professional Bull Riding. Â Apparently there is usually a mechanical bull in the center but I went on a night to cheer on a friend who was Jello wrestling so instead of the bull there was a pool full of red liquid that was supposed to be jello but never firmed up.
When I got there, it was a little earlier than the festivities and I snagged an awesome booth seat, right by the ring. Â There were no servers so each time I wanted a drink I had to go back to the bar. Â I honestly didn't mind this arrangement because the one spot of light was the bar tender, Foluke. Â What a sweet personality. Â anyway...
I was sitting at my booth spot, waiting for my friends to arrive when a girl came over to me and had to explain to me that the seat I was sitting in was fine for me to be in now but unless I and my party were going to spend a minimum of $200 I was not welcome to stay there once the festivities began. Â We were going to be a party of 3 and I felt pretty confident that none of us wanted to spent $70 each so I relinquished my seat and sat at the bar again.
The place filled up and by the time the wrestling began it was impossible to see from the bar to the Jello ring so we relocated to the floor.
I'll pass another compliment. Â The PBR dancers are a bunch of attractive, scantily clad, women wearing chaps who will periodically jump up on available surfaces and begin dancing. Â They were lots of fun to watch.
Unfortunately they also obscured our vision of the match. Â I was there to watch my friend wrestle and since I was kicked out of the VIP area and relegated to the floor a bunch of dancers and rowdy VIPs completely ruined my experience.
Throw in the amateurish DJ/MC and I was basically bored for several hours as I waited for my friend.
I highly doubt I'd return to this place even though I can see how it might be appealing to someone else.
I have a blast every single time I come to PBR! Its impossible not to! There is seriously something entertaining going on at all times. Whether I'm watching the buckle bunnies dance, people on the bull, or playing around w the bartenders it's always awesome. Â I love that when I walk up to the bar, Mike "mazur" knows exactly what I want and the whiskey stays flowing. Â He looks super cute in that cowboy hat too! No matter what my mood is, PBR def brings a smile to my face. The music is great, the staff is happy and friendly and the bull is just hysterical. I bring all of my out of town friends here and will continue to.
Review Source:Fun bar in the Xfinnity complex. Â The bartender helped raise the star value with a great fun personality and helping to start our night off on the right foot. Â The patio was great especially with the Bstreet Band rocking along. Â Watching the bartenders and patrons riding the bull was also amusing.
Review Source:Ummm...if I could, I would give this place zero stars, but since I can't, one star will just have to do...so, where do I begin...let's start off with the fact that the place wasn't even packed despite it being about 1.5 hours before the start of the Phillies game. Â So, one would think that food and drinks would come out on a timely manner, right? Â Wrong! Â The service was horrible! Â Our server definitely did not want to be there and after waiting 30 minutes for our drinks, which didn't come out all at the same time, he wasn't the only one. Â Besides the staffer rolling his eyes at us when we asked for something, there seemed to be no attempt at urgency or courtesy overall from not only him, but any staffer we encountered. Â Our appetizers came out super late, sorry, but dumping a bag of stale chips from a bag into a bowl and scooping out watered down salsa, and guacamole from a jar shouldn't take more than 45 minutes, but it did. Â We watched servers carrying food and asking tables if the meal on the tray belonged to them, not just once, but almost every time a server came out with food the same thing would happen. Â Our main courses took an additional hour and a half to arrive and even then we had to wait another 10 minutes for one person at our table to get their meal. Our sever never took the menus from us after we ordered and so we had to stack them at the end of the table. We also had to ask for silverware and napkins after receiving our plates, and after about 8 minutes of no one showing up with anything, one person from our group went to one of the other restaurants to get us napkins. Â When our server finally did show up with what we thought was silverware, he handed us a bunch of knives and told us that they ran out of forks without giving an explanation or even a promise that they were doing their best to get us any, he just shrugged his shoulders and sauntered away. Â How the heck do you run out of forks!!! Â Forks! Â You're a building full of 5 restaurants that share the same space and out of that entire place they couldn't get any forks or even attempt to find plastic ones. Â We had to ask the table behind us if they wouldn't mind giving us one of their own (non-used) forks. Â As our table began to dive into their meals, little things started to become noticeable, like the piece of hair in my burrito, someone missing guacamole, another person sour cream, and yet another person missing dressing for their salad. With the dread of having to wait hours to get anything from the staff, no one said a word about the missing items, or hair found in the food and just quickly finished whatever they could with their fingers (remember, no forks still), and got out as soon as we could manage it. Â Sadly, we were not the only ones who experienced such poor service, but you could hear other folks murmuring their complaints to one another as well. At first, I thought that the place was understaffed, but after seeing waiters chatting it up with the pretty bartenders, waitresses practicing the "Texas two-step" in the hallway by the bathroom, and another waitress taking her time show off her skills by riding the bull, it really just comes down to the incompetency of the managers who run the place like a frat party, with their lack of organization or care for anything besides hoping people get drunk enough to forget their bad experience without complaint. Â To top off the evening, there was no compensation for the lack of forks, incomplete meals, and lateness on everything besides the bill. Â Going into this place, I wasn't expecting anything near to five-star service by any means, but for a chain restaurant that boasts about their various locales around the country on their website, I would think there are some standards that they had to adhere to. Â Sadly, this place not only left a bad taste in my mouth (literally), but I don't plan to ever go back unless it's the only place that was left standing after a meteoroid hit the earth destroying everything in its wake.
Review Source:Drunk people falling off an electric bull. Pick me, pick me! No, not to ride the bull. That's cray cray. To go with you, drink beers, and watch other fools fall off of, I mean ride, the bull.
PBR is part of The XFinity Live Center which is smack in the middle of all the stadiums. Great for before, after, or instead of a game.
As I have seen at every place that has electric bulls, guys can expect a harder run and faster exit. They slow the bull down for the women, but not to be nice. Because they are dirty and want to watch you, know guys want to watch, and know the beers will flow heavier if the guys are watching you.
If this is not enough, the have hired guns, aka not as bad as strippers just because they don't take their tiny pieces of clothes off. Yeah, were talking bouncing watermelons spilling out and flesh hanging out the rear.
PBR is fun, but it's fun in a dirty kind of way.
I've never eaten here so this review has nothing to do with food, only drinks and ambiance. Â
This place is consistently the most crowded of the bars at the Xfinity Live complex mostly because of the mechanical bull which provides some fun free entertainment. Â The service isn't bad considering the crowds and the patience of the clientele is likely extended slightly because of the bull and the sexy uniforms of the servers. Â
Overall it's not a bad place. Â Definitely a party scene, so if you are looking to have a conversation or a quiet drink don't come here, but then again none of the places at Xfinity are great for that.
Drink prices are high as with everything in the complex.
This place is probably my least favorite within the Xfinity live complex. I sat down for dinner and drinks before a Flyers game a few weeks back and wasn't impressed.
After getting carded for the fourth time, I ordered a draft beer from the limited selections and it came out in a plastic solo cup, classy. I had the nachos and the quesadillas which were both below average even for bar food. The cheese on the nachos had an odd consistency and the quesadilla didn't have much flavor although the giant guacamole dipping side was nice. All around the consensus at our table for the food was meh, can't drink on an empty stomach though
We did have a front and center seat for the mechanical bull which provided some entertainment. Despite being only a couple weeks old the bull looks like it has already been through a war and is ready to retire. Next time, right to the Beer Hall.
This place was great! Went there after tailgating for the Phillies game last weekend and had a blast. The whole Xfinity Live center was a fun time. Band's were playing outside and inside.
The mechanical bull in the center of the bar holds most people's attention for the majority of the night. Not for the faint of heart, you will be tossed off quickly. Oddly, it seems girls are much better bull riders... ever guy that tried ride solo was immediately tossed by the 'bull'.
All in all, one of the better times I've had hanging out at a bar with friends. Can't comment on the food, bartenders were quick and helpful. If ever in the south Philly area and its game day, swing into the PBR Bar.
I've been to this place twice now and honestly the food is nothing to rave about. Â It's Tex-Mex style cuisine and it's just plain boring. Â They also have ribs but they are just your basic ribs drenched in a decent BBQ sauce that are very fatty. Â I've tried the burrito too and it was bland and boring as well. Â There really isn't much flavor or spice to much of the menu items here that I have tried. Â There is a half BBQ chicken and a whole turkey leg also on the menu that I haven't tried yet and I think if I do go again may give one a go to see if anything is worth it at this place.
The set up of the place having very few indoor seats is almost saying to you when you walk in that they don't really want you to eat there. Â The mechanical bull in the middle takes up most of the space and provides some pretty good entertainment as the evening goes on and people become more intoxicated. Â As far as the bars go they have two full bars that are pretty large and you can order food at the bar too. Â You can also eat outside which looks like it has more seating than the inside. Â It was raining when I was there so I waited to eat inside which took about 40 minutes. Â If you expect to eat before a game then you need to get to the game very early as all of the places in Xfinity Live fill up quickly.
Overall my experience here was good. Â When I walked in the security guard at the door helped me immediately get my name on the waiting list. Â The hostesses also came over to me twice to update me on my wait rather than the usual of me having to ask. Â Once the table opened up the Hostess sat us and then cleaned the table herself. Â Our waiter even with the place completely packed was very attentive and came over four or five times in the short amount of time we ate there. Â This kind of makes you like the place even though the food is not that great. Â
I would stop in if you are going to a game or a concert but keep in mind about the food it's not that great but there is a great selection of beer and free entertainment.
PBR is highly entertaining, and provides a divergent form of fun that I have yet to see elsewhere in Philadelphia - a mechanical bull! I had a blast here watching the games with a big group. Â The service is attentive for being jam packed on a game night, and watching drunk people get tossed around the bull pit, which is the center spectacle, does not fail to disappoint. Â I don't know if it is because the place is still new or what, but the staff seems to really pride themselves on customers enjoying their experience here.
We ordered a few appetizers, which were nothing memorable, but who cares..this place is truly a bar at heart, although a full menu is offered. Get a couple beers and some nachos and you'll be a happy camper.
I'll be back!
Great atmosphere. Â I love the western theme and the beer prices are reasonable. Â $5 beers are way better than stadium pricing. Â The outdoor area with fire pits is a great place to sit all summer. Â The place is a little tight on space, but that could be because of the large mechanical bull. Â Definitely a great place to go before the Phillies games.
Review Source:This was the place I was able to eat at on the night before the grand opening. Â Basically, they were the place that had a table available. Â Hey, it was crowded and some of the choices had an hour wait. Â This place was busy too, but happened to have a table. Â So they get to be my first meal at Xfinity Live.
Overall atmosphere, OK it's a lot of fun. Â It's loud. Â There's country music and hard rock everywhere, and watching people fall off the mechanical bull provides lots of entertainment. Â It's a whole load of cheesy, but I was into it. Â
But the food, that's what I came for. Â Here goes...
Chips and salsa were basic. Â Not salty at all. Â I was OK with that. Â Decent salsa with a bit of a kick. Â Good start if not totally exciting. Â
The wife got a chicken salad which was served in a tortilla shell. Â It was good pulled chicken which she said was quite juicy. Â Not too bad overall. Â The shell was a bit greasy to bite into which detracted slightly. Â
I went for the half BBQ chicken with rice and beans. Â The plus is that the chicken was really juicy and fresh. Â It came with dry rub, and if you wanted BBQ sauce that was on the table. Â I felt that the taste of the chicken needed the sauce to be really good. Â If the chickjen needs the sauce, it's not great BBQ in my mind. Â But the sauce saved it. Â It was tasty sauce. Â I give them that. Â The rice and beans needed work though. Â Not enough flavor in those.
It's what I expected. Â Corporate restaurants like this just don't always put out great food. Â But it was good enough, and it was fun. Â It's worth another try to see how the fajitas, burritos and tacos are. Â They get 3 stars until they can prove that they deserve more.
