Phoenix Inn

Phoenix Inn is an excellent mixture of both delicious and authentic.  I am seriously in love with their Ma Po Tofu.  Also, they are BYOB and friendly to large groups of people (even large groups of people who also consumed large amounts of BYOB).  To top it all off, the prices are great too.

Overall: a great alternative to the often overcrowded and overrated array of Joy Yee, Koi, and Cozy Noodle.

We hosted a large party here of about 18 people in the evening. I thought the atmosphere was great. We had lots of room, and the food was good and came fast. Service was also not bad. I think people just need to speak up if they need something. I am not sure why others gave low ratings. But for a first-time experience, I would definitely choose to come back again. Besides, this is a short walk from Kellogg business school, so very convenient for local Evanston folks. Give it a try at least.

While the food is good, the service is deplorable. No matter how I try and order, they never seem to have it ready, including when I ordered an hour ahead online and still waited 20 minutes when I got there. It's worth paying a couple bucks more to eat elsewhere in the hood.
