Thanks to several other reviewers I found a great place to have lunch today.
Schwarma ftw!!  Great place to stop and have a  quick bite.  Very friendly staff who know their pita food groups.

Have gotten take-out from here a half-dozen times and will continue to do so! Chicken shawarma is outrageously good, unlike any I've had. Could not believe those flavors would go together as well as they do. Lentil soup is also quite tasty.

Way over rated. Hummus was not that good . Chicken shawarma was not world famous as sign indicated . Very disappointed because all the reviews. All the reviewers must not of had good middle eastern food before . You must try Hala Inn . Sorry Pita Grill

Amateurish with a couple brightspots. T he Falafels were ....well the outside was borderline burnt.  I saw them drop the mozzarella sticks and the falafels in the same fryer basket --and the sticks were a little underdone meaning the cheese was not of that nice melty consistency.    the inside of the falafel was great ,but the exterior combined witht he fact that there was no Tahini sauce anywhere in sight added to the overall lackluster experience, it was sort of an extra liquidy cucumber sauce that was just all wrong.. We didnt order chicken shwarma even though we wanted to because there was nothing on the spit, the girl said they had some in the back already cut up which pretty much means its from a day or two ago and they wrapped it up and its sitting in the fridge and if I want it, they would be happy to heat some up for me-, -NO THANKS!!!!   so we opted for something made to order, the chicken breast sandwich. It had a good curry flavor to the meat, but the bun was a Burger King bun that was definitely not anywhere near fresh and BROWN LETTUCE--I'll pass , thats when you order all the condiments on the side and then pick what  is edible and discard the compost.   While eating there i was thinking about getting some Baba Ganoush but I figured I would probably be disappointed and vague memories of a proper Mediterranean meal  from Pita House or Pita Inn would flash into my mind.  So in summation, not one single thing we ordered was received in its correct state with acceptable condiments,( however  the can of imported black cherry fruit soda  was really good.)  This place is good only for what it allures to be-- to all the what-could-have-beens.  Those other establishments are music to my ears and Pita Grill is an inept cover band that can barely tune their instruments let alone play in front of an audience.

Free parking, friendly service, family run business and a 14$ for 20$ yelp deal!!
You can't go wrong people.  Not to mention the BEST chicken shawarma sandwich I have ever had.  It's the special homemade shawarma sauce that puts it over the top!
Try it.  You will not be disappointed.

Coming from the city, I was very impressed. Very good food. The pitas are home made, and the produce was fresh. The ambiance is lacking ;however for what is in the neighborhood i noticed this may be a nice alternative to what can be monotonous fair. I recommend it for locals and for passers by, but dont make the trip out just for it.

I live in Highland Park but went to this place 3 days in a row for lunch. Twice I had the chicken shawarma and today I decided to try their gyros.

OMG SOO good. I had my fair share of shawarma and gyros and I have to say that this place is one the best places I've ever had both. These pitas are as delicious as they are big...and these guys are humongous. I'm so used to places not taking my extra spicey request seriously. This place had no problem being serious :)

The place is nice and clean. Good eating area.

Seems to be family owned. The kids who work behind the counter are super cute and polite. The older guy who runs the register is pretty cool. I give service 5 stars as well.

You won't be disappointed. Go and try the place. I'm sure you will be a repeat customer. I wish I lived closer!

Oh yes and their chicken kabobs are great as well..with the green sauce!!

Jacked the prices by the same amount you save using group on...this place ripps people off...breadbasket has better quality gyros plate and way cheaper without getting suckered by thinkn your saving cash using groupon...I love groupon but scam artist like these fools even make me rethink groupon in general

I guess my hopes were too high after the rave reviews on yelp and also hoping to finally have a good alternative to Pita Inn nearby...

I was quite disappointed with the food I had.  The falafel was over fried and the filling was below average, it's not that hard to have good falafel.  The hummus was the same, I would say a bit below average.  I opted for the chicken shawarma sandwich and it was the most bland shawarma I have ever had.

The staff seemed nice, and the place was laid out well and was clean as others have stated.  I don't understand how places that put so much effort into the look and layout of their restaurant can serve such mediocre food.

Sorry Pita Grill, was really hoping for something better.  Since I live in the hood...may give it one more chance.

Am I on a pita kick of late? I just may be. It's too bad that I can't have the good food and great service at Pita Grill at my beck and call anymore. Discovering businesses like this one is exactly why Yelp is such a powerful tool. It allows locals to shed light on awesome mom & pop establishments and send new customers their way. As much of a neighborhood maven as I am, I spent a paltry amount of time in Cragin. But for trusted Yelp reviews (and reviewers; thanks, Anthony M), I would have missed out on a great meal and experience.

The first thing you're, likely, to notice upon walking in is how bright and clean the space is. While it's true that it's possible to get some excellent food at places that look less than shiny, it's always a welcome relief to get excellent food at a place that knows what a mop, broom and disinfectant is. Second to the fresh & clean clean appearance, the people are genuinely friendly. I came in on a Saturday night seeming confused and out of sorts. Rather than calling the authorities, they welcomed me in, asked if I had questions and started to offer me tastes of what it was they had cooking. Unfortunately, that kind of welcome isn't to be found everywhere. I was in the mood for a chicken kefta sandwich. Not seeing that, I opted for the chicken shawarma platter. For less than $10, I received a heaping mound of spit-fired chicken, pita, sauce & veggies, rice, and a soda. Awesome. The meat was juicy and well-seasoned. I laid it atop the pita and put the pita atop the rice. On top of the meat, I put the veggies and sauce and I cut into it with a knife and fork and went to town. It's not the way I usually eat it, but I wanted to blend the flavors and this seemed like the best idea. For my soda, there's something about Orange Fanta that will always call to my soul, but I probably chose too quickly for I left behind Vimto. What's Vimto? Black Current & raspberry soda!! What have I done? That poor choice has haunted me since. Come back to me, exotic soda! Don't be me: get yourself a mound of food for a fantastic price and taste the sweet sweet nectar of black current soda. Do it for me!

My family and I stepped into this restaurant hoping for a great experience - We did not. We only stepped in there because it was close by, and due to all of the reviews on yelp. As we waited for out food (take-out), I watched the ladies cook. It was rather empty, but it was a Tuesday evening, so I expected it. It was also clean and organized. There was no sweet sizzle on the grill. I couldn't even tell that they were cooking. I saw them use the microwave, which terrified me. I also scanned the menu and found cheese sticks, hamburgers. . . No, just no. If someone wants that kind of food, they can go elsewhere. Come on, it's a Pita Grill. Not an American style grill. Also the fact that they didn't serve halal meat scared me. (I prefer halal meat due to its authenticity.) Honestly, I feel as if a lot of people giving rave reviews don't even know who REAL middle eastern food tastes like. Don't get me wrong, it was alright. If you're in the neighborhood, then pick up a bite to eat, but the meat portions were small. It was as if they had just SHOWN us the food. I was so hungry afterward. The combo plate? More like the mini plate. I will not be returning.

Delicious food, but terrible service. They took forever to do anything..my friend and I came in with a Deals Magazine voucher, and I guess that meant that we were to be served last, even after new customers came in. A group of four guys came in, ordered, and got their food before us. After waiting for 20 minutes with the annoying TV blaring, we finally got our food and it was delicious. As I was leaving, I needed a bag for my food and it would've taken a second, but the cashier decided to take a phone call instead...so I sat back down. I probably won't come back here again, but I can't give less than 3 stars because the food was delicious. It's just the customer service that needs a LOT of help.

I tried it for the first time a few weeks ago and gave it a 2nd try last night.

My first experience was okay.  The chicken shawarma was delicious and had all kinds of pickles and pickled vegetables on it. The rice was outstanding and had a very strong coriander flavor to it.  The gyros on the other hand, was NOT good at all.  It was extremely greasy and not very flavorful.  The meat was sliced way too thick and the pita was actually wet from so much grease.  It hurt my stomach the next day.

My second experience was AWFUL.  I called 15 minutes ahead to pick up my order and when I got there the food wasn't even made yet even though the place was empty.  The young boy working the counter was so nice, helpful, and friendly I feel terrible writing a bad review, so I want to make it clear it was NOT his fault whatsoever.  The older man making the food was really confused and kept making everything incorrectly and having to do it over.  I waited another 15 minutes for them to get the food ready to go while arguing with each other.  Fine, whatever, everyone has a bad day.

So I get the food home and we open it up, and everything looks and smells delicious... until we actually ate it.  First off the pickled turnips were rancid and smelled fermented and we had to pick them off our food.  Some of the cups of sauces smelled like that too...rancid like they were spoiled and we had to throw them away.  Then the kifta kabob... Ugh. These had to have been microwaved from a few days ago.  They were hard, chewy, dried up little dog turds that went straight in the garbage.  My dad (who will eat anything) even said YUCK and spit it out.  I can't believe they would even serve something like this.  They tasted like old gamey meat and I wouldn't even feed them to my dog.

Sorry Pita Grill, two strikes and you're out.   Keep serving rancid sauce and microwaved meat and you won't be around much longer.

Purchased a $20 for $12 deal on yelp so I thought I'd give it a try.  Pass by there often and thought if it was good,  it would be a handy spot to pick something up every now and then.  It was good.  Falafil sandwich was huge and rolled in a pita, not stuffed like most places.   Hummus was good.  As for the rest, maybe another time, although, since I'm vegitarian, so my options are limited.  Would have been a good value even without the discount!

I chose to eat there and the one drawback for me was the smell of the cleaner they use on the floor was overpowering.   It made it difficult to enjoy the food.  Next time, I'll tough it out and get it to go.

Contrary to all the other's here i thought the food sucked..we had there grill special
the chicken was passable, the gyro's dried out, and the beef was chewy as all hell..
the gyro's sauce was runny and thin and they piled it all on the pita..don't think i'll be going back here to waste my money...

Love this place.  Thank goodness there is a good place for some Middle eastern food in the neighborhood.  The food was fresh and hot.  I have been there three times within a two week period.  The prices are great and love that they have Yelp and Group on Deals.  Will be going back there sometime in the next few days.

Okay I am a fan and can not wait to come back!!!

When I walked in I saw a tall rack of chicken roasting and spinning with a giant onion on top (check my photos) and I knew that is what I was having.  I did take a few minutes to check over the menu but my mind was not going to be changed.  The meat looked amazing and it was so nice to see real meat and not that pressed fake chicken meat (typically what you see at most places)!

So I ordered a Chicken Shawarma!!!  While I was standing at the counter I asked how long they had been in business and was told about 2 months.  I also told them that i found them on Yelp and that they had some really nice reviews.  The staff was really friendly too...I think they were a family...I believe it was a Mom with her son and daughter...I feel for the kids because I grew up in a family business too.  They had really good personalities for there age too...I really love customer service and this family brings it.  I was even offered a bowl of chicken soup, while I was waiting.  I think they are trying to hook me!!!

The chicken soup was really good and is homemade too.  It was a nice little treat plus next time I come back I am going to get a bowl...who knows I may even try the lentil soup. I can't lie I am definitely going to get a bowl of the lentil.

My chicken Shawarma was finally ready.  It looked and tasted so good.  The last time I had a Chicken Shawarma this yummy I was at the Sydney airport waiting for my next flight.  So this place is high on my list!!!  The toppings were really interesting...there was pickled beets on here too...I would have never ordered that on my sandwich and I have to be honest it really worked.  There was suppose to be hot sauce on here but my sandwich was not that spicy.  Next time I go back I will ask them to throw more on there.  I like hot!!!  On a side note:  all of there sauces are homemade too.

I noticed that a lot of people who wrote reviews have used a Group On and they are still happy...so that is a good sign...those Group On reviews are usually the harshest reviews.  Note to Group On people...give them a break...you are getting half price food!!!  I also noticed that this business is offering a Yelp Deal too.  I did not have a deal or coupon...I paid full price and it was worth it.  The sandwich was not very expensive...it was $5.49 which is very reasonable.  I need to come back here soon because that Chicken Shawarma is calling me plus I do not have to get on a plane for 16 hours to get one in Sydney.  Yes there is really a good Shawarma in Sydney!!!  I would even review it if I could remember the name of the place!!!

This place is a hidden gem and a new business.  I hope that others read this review and stop in and give this family run business a chance.  I am hoping for a long relationship between my belly and the Pita Grill.  Honestly my mouth is watering just thinking about it!!!

I went with the Pita Grill Special. You get three different meats. I only wish I would have had it without the onions. I'm ok with onions, but these seemed very strong.

The chicken was very tender and juicy with great flavor. The beef was good. The gyro meat was typical, very good like you would get anywhere else. The sauce had a nice flavor.

My only suggestion might be for them to include two pitas. There is a lot of meat for just one.

I also had the chicken soup and that had a lot of flavor and was very good.

It is very clean inside. The decorations were a little strange, very gold. The people were nice and knew the regulars by name.

I will return to try some of the other items on the menu.

Great food, I'm glad we finally have a good middle eastern restaurant in the area, without having to drive all the way to kedzie. The owners are reeeally friendly and helpful, which is nice. By the look of things, they know what they are doing here so I will be coming back.

This is exactly what we've been needing in the neighborhood. I've been here about ten times since they've opened---no exaggeration. The meat is always perfectly juicy and marinated, and the variety of sauces are packed full of flavor. Their lentil soup is probably the best I've ever had. The portions are also very generous and prices are beyond reasonable. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Delicious all around. My parents are making it their personal business to go here twice a week because we want to see this place succeed.

Just like the first person to review the place, I ordered the Pita Grill Special and was very satisfied.  Definitely flavorful with the 3 types of meat that came with it. The place is nice and clean with good service.  I'll be coming back to this place for sure and will tell my friends and family about it.

Central Gyros was closed and we were starving.  We found Pita Grill right around the corner.  I was a little skeptical at first, but the joint looked clean and I was in the mood for Middle Eastern.

I got the Pita Grill Special, it was a mix of various meats(gyros, beef and chicken shish kabob) on pita bread. It was served sorta like a traditional gyros, with tzatziki, onions, and tomatoes.  The rice here was amazing, very flavorful, and buttery.

All in all, a great middle eastern restaurant at reasonable prices.

Check this out! I went to Pita Grill Chicago at 3051 N Central Ave. on Friday 11/14/11 and this food is so good that I can and will eat it 3 or so times a week. Their greek salad dressing, there is no better!!! The gyro plate, my mom loved it!!! The Kabobs, my cousin loved it!!! O yah, the Hummus is soooo good. You can't ask for better food at a great price at such fast clean service. The place is so clean, It's like brand new. This is by far the BEST place I have ever ate at. To me, Pita Grill Chicago even beats Sultan's Market and Pita Inn. Just my thought. Go see and taste for yourself. See you there.
