Cute little place, friendly staff, good wine (I know, I know, who goes to a bar for wine). We'd already run ourselves into the ground and this was our last stop for the evening. It was close to last call (what a concept for a Vegas girl lol) but the bartender was still really friendly and helpful.
Review Source:I came to visit from California and I have yet to find a better dive. Cheap pitchers and GREAT buffalo wings. The food is sooo good! The bartenders are conscientious and polite, not pushy. I loved it so much I wish Northern California would make a great joint like this locally! I can't wait to go back!!
Review Source:Avast ye beer lubbers! Â
Ok, I don't know exactly what that means, but it should mean: Go to The Plank! Â
For most small pub/bars in Boise, you're going to get maybe five beers on tap: Â Bud/B-Light, Coors/C-Light or MGD/M-Light... and, if you're lucky, they'll throw some pseudo micro brew on tap to shut up the beer snobs. Â
When I say pseudo, I mean things like Blue Moon, which sounds like a micro brew, but is really made by Coors. Â
Not at the Plank. Â
Sure, if you're looking purely for super-crafty small time local micro brews, you should go to The Front Door (and I love it there). But if you're looking for a laid back and affordable night out with friends, maybe a bit of Karaoke (not all the time, so don't worry) and a patio in the summer... this is a great little hidden gem. Â In the last three visits, they've had at least 2 IPA's that you wouldn't find in 99% of the bars in Boise, and they have about 12 total beers on tap (that's a guess... it might be 10 or it might be 15), most of which are micros. Â They are the flip side of the coin and offer a couple of the big-boy breweries for the beer troglodytes out there. Â
The staff are friendly, and the bar food is decent. Â And really, besides ninjas, who doesn't like to go to a pirate bar?
