My friends and I had a groupon deal for bowling here, but every time we went and tried to redeem our deal, they would give us some bs answer to not let us in. Â What's the point of selling a groupon deal to customers and then not let them use it? Â Each time we went, they would say ID was required (which we had), but then they would say they had an 8th grade event going on (and I'm sure that 8th graders are not older than 21 years old) or some other event going on. Â We even tried arriving earlier to avoid the events, but this kept happening all the way until our groupon voucher expired! Â They're just TERRIBLE. Â What's the point of selling a groupon deal to people, but not let them use it?
Review Source:WORST PLACE TO PLAN YOUR BIRTHDAY! Think twice about going here!
Here's the story, I found PLAY Â Lounge on Yelp, reading the reviews it sound pretty great with the games and activities as well as it being a nightclub where everyone can enjoy themselves.
I went to the venue on a Thursday to check the place out before I invite everyone to somewhere that would be crappy without me knowing it, my birthday was on a Saturday. I spoke to the girl at the desk named Donna or Diana (don't remember cause she didn't seem interested in telling me anything because she was too busy on her laptop). She gave me the information that I can call and reserve a table over the phone with my credit information, she also told me that with the purchase of a bottle 8 people can get in free without paying admission for the night ($20 for men, $10 for women). I wanted to find out the bottle prices so I read the menu, interested in getting Ciroc the PRICE LISTED WAS $250. I left the venue certain I was having my birthday here.
Then friday morning I called PLAY to give my credit information to reserve a table for my birthday on Saturday night. Another receptionist answered and told me that they NO LONGER TAKE CREDIT INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE. Instead told me to come with my group the night of my birthday, skip the line and tell the bouncer that I am buying a bottle and that EVERYONE Â in my party will get in for free. I must've clarified about 5 times that everyone would get in for free. She then said I will have a table reserved just by buying the bottle.
THEN comes the night of my party, I'm arriving to PLAY Lounge along with everyone in my group and I'm ready to purchase my bottle to reserve a table. The bouncer hands me the menu of bottle prices with the Ciroc BOTTLE LISTED at $300, they jack the prices up on the weekend and the nice girl at the desk failed to inform me of this. Yes, its just $50 more (remembering that it is in Queens yet paying city prices) but how sneaky and misleading is this place?! The receptionists are giving false information as well as rainging the prices on the weekend. SO we were settling for paying the $300 for a bottle when the bouncer tells us that the free admission were only for EVERY 4 people, mind you I had about 12 people in my group, he told us that for everyone to come in we would have to buy 3 bottles at a price of $900. I told the bouncer of what the receptionist told me and his response was "yeah...no". I asked him why is there workers there giving out wrong information his response was "i'll let my supervisor know". SOO my friends and I decide to just go in pay the admission without buying the bottle and without reserving a table. One of my friends brought along a birthday cake to the Lounge for me, the bouncer then goes on to tell us to get into the lounge WITH THE CAKE WE HAVE TO PAY $100 TO BRING THE CAKE IN because we were not buying a bottle and reserving the table.
THIS PLACE WAS A NIGHTMARE IN DISGUISE. I tried to plan my birthday at the lounge but they just screwed it all up at the last minute. I ended up not going into the Lounge at all and instead going to another venue which was far more better, and every single person in my party had a great night without spending an arm and a leg! LIKE I SAID THINK TWICE!
