My friends and I had a groupon deal for bowling here, but every time we went and tried to redeem our deal, they would give us some bs answer to not let us in. Â What's the point of selling a groupon deal to customers and then not let them use it? Â Each time we went, they would say ID was required (which we had), but then they would say they had an 8th grade event going on (and I'm sure that 8th graders are not older than 21 years old) or some other event going on. Â We even tried arriving earlier to avoid the events, but this kept happening all the way until our groupon voucher expired! Â They're just TERRIBLE. Â What's the point of selling a groupon deal to people, but not let them use it?
Review Source:WORST PLACE TO PLAN YOUR BIRTHDAY! Think twice about going here!
Here's the story, I found PLAY Â Lounge on Yelp, reading the reviews it sound pretty great with the games and activities as well as it being a nightclub where everyone can enjoy themselves.
I went to the venue on a Thursday to check the place out before I invite everyone to somewhere that would be crappy without me knowing it, my birthday was on a Saturday. I spoke to the girl at the desk named Donna or Diana (don't remember cause she didn't seem interested in telling me anything because she was too busy on her laptop). She gave me the information that I can call and reserve a table over the phone with my credit information, she also told me that with the purchase of a bottle 8 people can get in free without paying admission for the night ($20 for men, $10 for women). I wanted to find out the bottle prices so I read the menu, interested in getting Ciroc the PRICE LISTED WAS $250. I left the venue certain I was having my birthday here.
Then friday morning I called PLAY to give my credit information to reserve a table for my birthday on Saturday night. Another receptionist answered and told me that they NO LONGER TAKE CREDIT INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE. Instead told me to come with my group the night of my birthday, skip the line and tell the bouncer that I am buying a bottle and that EVERYONE Â in my party will get in for free. I must've clarified about 5 times that everyone would get in for free. She then said I will have a table reserved just by buying the bottle.
THEN comes the night of my party, I'm arriving to PLAY Lounge along with everyone in my group and I'm ready to purchase my bottle to reserve a table. The bouncer hands me the menu of bottle prices with the Ciroc BOTTLE LISTED at $300, they jack the prices up on the weekend and the nice girl at the desk failed to inform me of this. Yes, its just $50 more (remembering that it is in Queens yet paying city prices) but how sneaky and misleading is this place?! The receptionists are giving false information as well as rainging the prices on the weekend. SO we were settling for paying the $300 for a bottle when the bouncer tells us that the free admission were only for EVERY 4 people, mind you I had about 12 people in my group, he told us that for everyone to come in we would have to buy 3 bottles at a price of $900. I told the bouncer of what the receptionist told me and his response was "yeah...no". I asked him why is there workers there giving out wrong information his response was "i'll let my supervisor know". SOO my friends and I decide to just go in pay the admission without buying the bottle and without reserving a table. One of my friends brought along a birthday cake to the Lounge for me, the bouncer then goes on to tell us to get into the lounge WITH THE CAKE WE HAVE TO PAY $100 TO BRING THE CAKE IN because we were not buying a bottle and reserving the table.
THIS PLACE WAS A NIGHTMARE IN DISGUISE. I tried to plan my birthday at the lounge but they just screwed it all up at the last minute. I ended up not going into the Lounge at all and instead going to another venue which was far more better, and every single person in my party had a great night without spending an arm and a leg! LIKE I SAID THINK TWICE!
I am a regular at Play, have been there many times over the year since my knowledge of queens spots are limited. But play is a good time, last time I went on a double date with a friend on Monday night they have open bar from 9- 1am and half off wings. my Bf and I go hang out many mondays, theres also 2hr bowling and pool as well for $25 (used to be $20). The DJ is always good, drinks are good and staff is cool as well. There is a mechanical bull which is can be great drunk fun. On the weekends after 10 its a full party, the lines are always long, theres no cover to get in. Play is a good go to spot for all occasions. There are specials throughout the week and they often hosts game/fight nights when big games/fights are on.
Review Source:At a first glance, Play seems to be the hot spot to go to on Queens BLVD. Â It has such potential for greatness.... But, it fails miserably because of poor customer service, a bad DJ, and their website was not up to date; so prices were wrong. Â When we went there on a Saturday night, it was for a friend's birthday party. Â It would have been great, but there was only one bowling lane open, the rest were broken WHACK! The bartenders were not attentive and the drinks were expensive! WHACK! Â We left early because the DJ was.. WHACK, playing only top 40 and didn't mix well at all. Â For Queens, I guess it's a winner, but this place could do much better.. Also, the dress code... Â WHAT DRESS CODE?... I was worried and made sure I didn't wear sneakers... I walked in and half of the guys there were in sneakers and wearing LOGO's??? Â Why have a dress code and not enforce it... Â Anyway, I won't be back there, unless it's FREE!
Review Source:We only went to play because I bought a groupon for Bowling. We did have fun playing but I'm not sure I would go for any other reason. It is definitely clubby. It's got neon lights everywhere and loud music. They have billiards as well and it seemed pretty popular. The bathroom was kind of small though and it has a kind of shared but separate sink space from the men's.
Review Source:This location is not a 5 star but they don't disappoint. Music is varied which is great. The option to bowl (although always packed), play pool, hookah, and the mechanical bull sets this place as a cool Saturday night location. The drinks are pretty good and the service is ok. They didn't seem the friendliest but for a $10 cover  I guess you get what you pay for. Overall a nice place if you don't feel like traveling into New York City.
Review Source:The Thursdays ladies night is great! free entrance (call ahead) and open bar till 12. The ambiance is gorge and the actual place is really nice and modern. I would definitely go back any Thursday. The only thing was I don't know if ladies night is a wack night lol but there were not alot of people there, but that didn't bother my group of ladies.
Review Source:I came here on a Saturday night for a co-workers birthday and I honestly wasn't too impressed. I arrived a little bit after 11, and after spending about 15 minutes or so searching for parking, I stood on line for maybe a half hour before actually being admitted. There's a mandatory coat check, 3$ which is pretty good, especially since they didn't charge for admission.
The ambiance was great, nice open space on the dance floor, lots of seats, pool tables, hookah, bowling, a mechanical bull, blah, blah, blah, but the music was kind of sucky. A lot of reggaeton, and I mean a LOT. I almost thought it was a Spanish club until they started playing some old school reggae. From there, the DJ went downhill and I felt like I was sitting in my car listening to Hot 97, and then he went right back to playing reggaeton for most of the night.
The service there was also pretty sucky; apparently you can't order bottles at the bar, you have to order them at your table by flagging one of the "waitresses" down, which is rather hard to do considering the crowd, the lack of light, and the fake smoke that fills the room. I spent the entire night trying to order some food, and eventually gave up around 3am. I wouldn't recommend this place at all.
3.5 stars! I always have fun at this spot.
Went on a Saturday around 10/10:30 ish, really early for a Saturday night which is why my girlfriend and I rode the bull for the first (and immediately after, second time)! Ride the bull if you're feeling adventurous and the line isn't too long.
People were chillin' playing foosball, pool and bowling. Some people came in to start their tables and bottle service for the night.
Shots of patron are $12...
The dj played good tunes and the lighting is fabulous!
The bathrooms are TINY! And be sure to know before you go, none of the employees seem to service the bathrooms often enough.
Play is still not a five star spot but I will say that it's getting better all the time. I came for New Year's Eve. I called ahead of time to double check that the place wouldn't be too crazy packed and the girl on the phone was a sweet heart. Had me on hold and graciously apologized and was a darling.
I was outside trying to keep from crying considering that the countdown was taking place right as my bf and I walked up and got on line. But everyone in line was sweet and we all said happy new year and made the best of our short wait. The guys at the door were nice and joked around with everyone.
There was a line for coat check which appeared t be the same line to get wrist bands and pay but it really isn't the same line. At any rate, the girls behind the counter were nice and moved quickly. The bartender was MUCH nicer this time and was totally okay with people ordering 3 or 4 drinks at a time.
The music was typical top 40 and dancey stuff as far as I remember. I wasn't really on the dance floor. The bathroom was pretty clean considering how wasted everyone in the spot was. It was a nice crowd of people. NO drama.
I'm def a fan of Play. Most likely because of the $25 unlimited gaming and open bar until 1... Can't beat that! (I believe the extra 5$ was for nye)
Decent place. My review is based on a Thursday night, so it could be better otherwise. When I went on Thurs, it was pretty empty but the music was good and the atmosphere was nice. People were dressed so casually, there was a pool table and an awesome mechanical bull...do yourself a favor and try it, don't punk out! If you decide to sit down on one of the chairs, expect to have an ongoing tab on your table. If you're broke, stand up! lol
Also try the "sneaky pete" ...so amazing. it's like all alcohol and awesomeness!
My friends and I came here last Monday night for their New Year's Eve VIP package. I don't know about you, but I can never pass up an open bar - especially at the price of only $25. We made online reservations the night before, just to make sure we were guaranteed the tickets.
Located right on Queens Boulevard, this place is impossible to miss with its lime green exterior. Immediately after walking inside, I was already impressed by the vibe of the décor - blacklights, gold bead curtains, and leather couches. A very upscale feel without the upscale price. There's a mandatory coat check, too. Which we didn't mind at all, since it only costed $3. And the dress code is pretty standard as far as club casual goes: no sweatpants, sneakers, or hoodies.
What really perplexed me was the fact that only two bartenders were working that night. I mean, if you're going to throw a New Year's Eve bash and expect a huge turnout, prepare to provide the necessary service to meet the demand. Fortunately, we arrived early and were able to score our first four rounds with no problem. But after 10pm, it was madhouse. There were at least sixty people crowding the bar by then.
Another bonus to arriving early is that you can bowl without a long wait. Since there are only three bowling lanes, I can imagine how in-demand it must get later in the evening. The setup is quite nice, but I was a bit concerned after a waitress failed to check on us during our entire game. All we wanted to do was order dinner and a few more drinks. :/ Little did we know how terrible the service would continue to be throughout the night.
We decided to relocate ourselves to the sitting area near the pool and ping pong tables and find someone to take our order. Long story short, it took about two hours for them to get our food to us. Ridiculous and unacceptable. This place was severely understaffed and disorganized. The waitresses kept "losing our order", and it was only after chasing around several employees that we were able to track down and speak to the manager. He made sure we were promptly served, and even gave us a huge discount. After everything was settled, we were still a bit upset, but everything was a lot more enjoyable.
The music they played was mostly Top 40s and although there wasn't an official dance floor, we got down to it anyway in the open lounge area by the DJ. Â Despite our poor experience with the service at Play Lounge, I'm sure it was just management underestimating the volume of people that would show up that night. The fact that this place is so unique almost fully redeems our terrible waitresses. And to be honest, we still had a great time regardless. :P
Thursday is supposed to be ladies night, but it felt more like dead night. Went with my sister's friends for her bday. We had a drink at the bar, played one game of bowling and then played and hanged out by the pool tables for a few hours. The lounge area had only a few people and I am guessing cause it is expensive to sit in that area. The waitress took more than 7 minutes for my drink a chocolate martini and also didn't take my order correctly when I asked for the 4 play appetizer. I wanted to have a bday gathering here, but I don't think I will be back for that.
Review Source:I come here from time to time for Bowling, for some drinks, or watching some sports games. On some nights, you have to pay $10 to get in but you get a drink ticket. Also, mandatory coat check.
The place is nice, and the drinks are good. However, I feel as though the bartenders attend males more quicker than females (which is there way of getting good tip I guess), so sometimes I would have to wait longer than usual just to get some drinks (and then they give a face if I don't give them good tip).
Lately this place is trying to be more of a club than a pool hall/bar. If I wanted to go to a club, I would just go to the city. I preferred this place back when they had more Pool Tables. Now I don't even come here to play pool. There should be more bowling lanes.
Overall, I don't see this place as a really big deal. It's okay, but if you are expecting to go to a club, go elsewhere. I don't think Bottle Service is really worth it here.
Came here on a Saturday night hoping to bowl. Okay, okay, I know. Why did I go to a lounge hoping to bowl?
Well I was hoping to bowl, have a few drinks and some decent bar food. Boy was I mistaken. Play has 4 lanes. Only 2 were working the night that I went.
This place has a club vibe to it, not the lounge vibe.
If you're into hip hop and you're looking for a fun night (not exactly a chill night) I would recommend going here. Otherwise, if you're looking for a nice laid back lounge this is not your place.
There is no real dance floor although I felt their should have been one. I also felt like their should have been gogo girls dancing. I may have saw one toward the back, but I left once I found out about the lane situation.
It is for a younger crowd. I would say it is good for those in their early to mid (possibly late) twenties.
Their is a mandatory coat check and a dress code is enforced. No sweats, hoodies, clothes that they consider too large for the individual, no sports gear, etc.
Celebrated my birthday here a few weeks ago.. very nice atmosphere my waitress was pretty attentive.. appetizers was great! The music was a mix which is also good, the mechanival bull wasnt working due to flooding...
There was a 2.5 hour wait for the pool tables at 1 am.. but I had a great time nonetheless. Would definately go back again!
my only gripe was a friend of mine id expired the night before and they refused to let him in.. even after speaking to my waitress who said she spoke to the manager said it was nothing they could do.. I guess $800 on bottle service wasn't enough..
I came to this spot on a Saturday night with a couple of classmates because one of them recommended it. The decor is nice. Ill give them that. But it seemed like it was lacking something. We ordered a platter which included hotwings, pigs in a blanket, & something else. the food was good.
They had a bouncer on the outside in which this place felt would look like it was a club on the outside. But in the inside it was like a hangout spot.
Poor, misguided wannabe hot spot.
It's a shame that the location sucks because the place itself is not so bad. Â There's plenty of space and things to do between the bowling, ping pong and pool tables. Â They also have a pretty big bar and everything is pretty much lit up in neon lights. Â If PLAY were in the city, it would be jam packed. Â But it's not, so we went there for my birthday on a Sunday night just to do some bowling and pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. Â We had 20 people so it was nice to be able to have the whole bowling area without anyone else to disturb us.
We also stayed around afterwards to eat some wings which weren't bad and were able to do 10 cent wings, which made them better. Â Not sure what other people were talking about with having to buy bottles. Â We just sat there and chatted, played cards and ate wings with no hassle. Â But it was also completely dead, so haha, that's probably why.
I really do wish this place was more popular just because it's so convenient for me to get to, but I would be really surprised if this place lasted very much longer. Â Doesn't seem like it's making enough money for such a large space.
This places tries hard to be something that it is not. Â Play is located in an obscure area on Queens Blvd that is not near any subways. Â You will probably have to drive or take a bus to get here.
I walked in on a Sunday night at 730PM and you would have thought they were getting ready for a nightclub type party. Â I had to walk past a bouncer and inside it was mostly dark with few lights, and mostly they were neon. Â There are only about 6 bowling lanes so I could see how there could be a waitlist reallly quickly. Â The bowling is fine - they have large screens at the end of the lane with your local ESPN telecast on. Â I only had a problem one time with the lane when only 9 pins were setup instead of 10.
The bar is this long neon lit bar with plenty of drink options - 2 for 1 on Sunday nights!
On the other side of Play they try to have "table service," in which there are multiple couches and lounge areas for groups. Â It seems like to sit there you need to get bottle service. Â Beware, it seems like other reviews suggest a discrepancy in the amount you need to spend to sit here. Â I don't know why anyone would ever drop so much money at a place like this for bottles. Â
They also have numerous pool tables and ping pong tables on the far side of this "club." Â
Play is good for off-peak type hours for a game of bowling or two, but I would never patronize this place at night to come party.
I've been to over a hundred places in New York and I hardly write reviews but this place, which I used to frequent, has just forced me to do that to warn people.
The following happened this weekend:
1. No Minimum to $150 to $200 - My group occupied a table on 7/7/12. The first waitress who served us said there was no minimum and she served our drinks quick. The waitress who replaced her said it was $150 per table. She was slow to bring us our drinks that we had to look for her. An hour later she came back and said the minimum was now raised to $200. The money wasn't an issue but it's the fact that we were told that no minimum was required from the very beginning. Our total bill was $230 by the way! Â
2. Direct TV + Rain = Disaster - Not only was this lady pestering us with the minimum $ issue but, we were also extremely annoyed by the several interruptions on the sporting event we were watching. The main event was cut and it came back  on when the fight was over!
3. THE BAR TENDERS ARE VERY SNEAKY WITH YOUR MONEY - There was a time when the bar tenders there were fit, friendly, honest, and decent looking. Play definitely downgraded literally heavily on that aspect.
We moved to the bar to avoid the large incompetent waitress. I purchased a drink worth $8. I gave the bar tender a $20. She folded the money she gave back to me so just to be sure I counted it since it seemed light. She only gave me $2. I told her she still owes me $10. She went back to get the money and gave it to me with out apologizing.
My friend ordered from ANOTHER bartender and two us told him to order for us also. She girl gave us the 3 drinks and told us it's $30. I went on to ask her how much is each one. She said $8, $8, and $7. Seriously?! Did she not know how to add or thought we would just pay whatever? Â My friends and I just laughed because it was just that kind of a night at this place.
All in all, the place looks very nice compared to a lot of bars in Queens but the service is the worst I've ever experienced recently. The servers and female bar tenders used to look good but now most are over weight, classless, and they really try to get your money wrongfully.
I used to enjoy going to this place but I will never recommend Play to anyone ever again. The night we went was to watch highly anticipated match but the place was still half empty which was a big surprise. Â Maybe a lot of people realized already that it's bad place to go to.
Gotta give 1 star because the bouncers/management were acting really stupid. The club was empty yet they had everyone waiting in a line wrapped around the block. My friend was having a going away party and we all showed up but were kept outside for over 30 minutes. A few of our friends got turned away because they were wearing boots, but the bouncers said if they would get bottle service, then they would be allowed in. The bouncers also said that any one waiting in line who would buy a bottle could go right in. I was like really? Wow this place has no class.
I was in line for about 40 minutes. There would be about 5 people exiting the building but the bouncers would still not let anyone in. I texted my friend to ask her if it was packed inside and she said no, it was empty. I finally got inside and it was empty. Besides out little group there were about 3 other groups of about 5 people each. If it were not for my friend's going away party I would not have stayed. Don't think I'll be going back.
What a night, What a night, What a night.
I really think the outcome of your night depends on the people you are with, because I truly had an amazing night. On a Monday night its $15 and all you can play , drink, dance and ride the bull.$0.50 wings and $3 coat check that they really try to make you pay (shhhhh you don't really have to lol) The staff is very friendly and the food is pretty good as well. The dj played a bit of everything and catered to the diverse crowd that was there. I definitely will come back here with my girls.
This place has so much potential. Its everything in one!
I came here on a Saturday night around 10. Maybe I was a bit too early, but it seemed empty. Maybe cause its Queens...ha.
But my group still had fun. We started off the night at the bar, then bowled, moved on to pool and finally when the music started getting good, we danced a little.
If you're looking for a place with a little bit of everything, this is the spot. There's bound to be something to keep you entertained.
This place is only worth it if you have a good group of people to go with, if you get there early you can snatch a parking spot out front and a lane to bowl. The bowling is decently priced at $9 a game including shoes. The food was expensive and took forever to come out and when it did it was cold. The waitress was apologetic though.
Bartenders were nice but one of them did not know what scotch was, I could tell by her assets that's the reason she was hired haha. The drinks were expensive but had a decent amount of alcohol in them, they offer specials that are advertised on the low- barely visible. Once I realized there was a special I stuck to that. Shots are watered down.
The mechanical bull is a riot, but ladies can you wear pants when you ride that thing? thanks. I just dont want to catch anything when its my turn.
Parking is a breeze if you get there before ten. Drinks are pricey for the location but not for the decor. Bowling is worthwhile and inexpensive but food service was slow and food came out cold. The highlight for me is the mechanical bull which is free and the guy running the bull was super cool. Overall too dark and loud but worthwhile for a group.
here is a link to our bull riding here at Play Lounge:

Remember that kid in high school with all the expensive clothes trying so hard to be cool but they just don't have any kind of swag, personality or likability ... take that kid and turn him into a lounge on Queens Blvd and you have Play.
Play's a secluded lounge on Queen's Blvd flanked by a used car dealership; a gas station and a couple of short stay motels. Big burly bouncers wearing all black monitor the red velvet rope and meet you at the door. Guess they gota keep the undesirables out and usher the celebrities in. The only problem is, there aint never a line to get in but your entrance is still at their discretion. Â You're allowed to wear sneakers and jeans, but your attire has to be neat or you'll be turned away. I seen a dude given the option to check his Gucci scully or be put out the building. Kina harsh if you ask me. From time to time they'll even have a host or hostess at the front door that might offer you bottle service....
"Huh, Bottle Service? Dude, you do know this is a lounge/pool hall on Queens Blvd, right"
And such is the story behind Play.
All Decor, No Substance.
I can't front though, once you enter it's hard not to be taken back by the layout of the place. It's cool and sexy. They have the dimmed black light thing going on throughout the building along with the long beads that fall from the ceiling that separate some sections of the club. You'll see attractive waitresses working behind the black light lit bar and walking around the lounge.
The place is huge. There's bowling lanes to the far right of the building, a mechanical bull in the back and then pool tables all the way to the left. Yeah, you read that right. They have a working mechanical bull in the back, which is free of charge to ride. Play then has the lounge area located in the middle decorated with white couches and fancy tables facing each other that runs the length of the lounge. Ya might see a couple people siting on the couches or reluctantly dancing to the Dj's terrible music selection.
The crowd is usually Spanish and Indian (India/Guyanese/Trini) college age kids wandering around the huge space not really appearing to have a good time. The few times I've been here, I came with bored friends who either googled "Pool Hall" or "Lounge" and didn't know any better, Â each time we ended up leaving fifteen minutes later.
I don't have any plans on coming back here. Maybe the crowd, ambiance and feel is just not for me.
Play needs to decide what they want the place to be.
You can't be the Exclusive Midtown Club, the Sexy Lounge, the Cool Pool Hall and
David Buster's all rolled in one. Well, maybe you can and they just haven't pulled it off yet. I'm thinking it all boils down to the promotion, cause the space is amazing. I don't know, someone has to figure it out eventually.
Until I hear otherwise, Play gets no play.
Okay, where to begin? At the beginning, of course. (Wizard of Oz, anyone?)
I went to this place for my birthday weekend. A couple of friends and I got there around 10:00pm, so there were not many people there, yet...
I do not drink alcohol, neither do my friends, so we ordered sodas.. $3.00 for a decent sized drink with ice and in a glass! Fancy, in my opinion.. It could have been served in plastic cups.
The bouncer was all business, just took a look at my ID and opened the door. Nothing wrong with that.
The decor is trendy and cool. They had Halloween decorations up... including a vampire and the 'Scream' ghost.
There was music being played.. Loud and it only got louder.. We were yelling over it, so now I'm having to deal with a slight sore throat.
Okay, what fun things are available? The bar, the bowling lanes (4 of them), a pool table, and one air hockey table. We played the air hockey for $2.00 a game.
Oh, the place is sectioned off by silver bead curtains.. Very nice.
So, one more thing about Play Lounge.
A MECHANICAL BULL.
Overall, this is a great place to come, the waitresses were attentive and friendly, the atmosphere was cool and there is lots to do.
I've been obsessed ever since I found out about the Twister beds, even though I don't know if people actually play on them.
This is the place where adults go to play, literally. They have bowling and pool. My favorite part is that they also have cards and board games that you can borrow.
It's definitely a fun place, with a cool vibe. Since their recent renovation, it has an even more chic ambiance. Â
I sometimes crave the cookie monster drink that I had there. It's about that time for another visit.
We went here last night on a whim and mainly because we were promised unlimited drinks, unlimited bowling and unlimited ping pong for $20 from 8-1am. (*Monday night special*)
We arrived at around 8pm and aside from a small group of people in the bowling section, we were outnumbered by the staff. It seemed like it was going to be an awkward night, but we went for it anyway.
We got our drinks at the bar and headed over to the pool tables to embarrass ourselves before the crowd hit. There were several large screen tvs, but for whatever reason they wanted to play FOX News on nearly half of them (on mute, no captions??) and refused to switch the channel to the St Johns game for the BF (obviously, not my request).
The music varied throughout the night from house/techo (I don't know the difference), hip hop, pop and spanish music. We made our way through the pool tables, to ping pong (way more fun than anticipated) and eventually to the bowling section (this seems to have a wait regardless of how many people show up, so its a good idea to put your name down when you get there).
At some point (after unlimited drinks, I didnt know the time) the place began to fill up and a live DJ was also in the back. The atmosphere was pretty chill and standard for a lounge scene, maybe a little more laid back.
They had a decent food menu, some items seemed a little pricey, but with the drink special it was worth it. We wound up getting wings (another Monday night special - 10/$3 or 20/$5) and they were pretty good.
Throughout the lounge were reminders that Thursday is Ladies Night  which apparently includes promises of male go-go dancers and free drinks from 9-12. Its likely I'll update on that aspect in the coming weeks...
We wound up leaving a little before 1am, definitely and surprisingly a good time.
If you want a good discount at this place, go on a monday! $20 all u can drink and play! Drinks meaning basic hard liquor, beers and a couple of non-alcoholic drinks. Play meaning pool, ping pong and bowling. Bowling is the BEST deal there is since it costs up to that amount for the game.
Remember to put your names down for all the games since there will be a line for them considering its a good deal for everyone and they all will wanna go bowling. Theres about 6 lanes i think. (Was a bit drunk to remember)...
The music ranges from rnb to hip hop to spanish. There's an area to dance and lounge. The bar is pretty looking. I had the bad experience of seeing vomit on the bar table (most likely a dude taking advantage of the all you can drink special all night till 1am!)...
Food is nibbles of all sorts from fries to pizza bites to chicken dippers. A bit costly for the food though. About $17 for 4 varieties but enough to share for 3 ppl I would say.
Fri nights are cool too! Great location if you dont wanna trek to manhattan. Bring manhattan to queens in Play! It is so far the only place I feel good hanging out in that feels like I'm at a manhattan bar. Classy and good deal!
Easy to get in. Just ID. Basic clothing rule but casual and cool! Enjoy!
This review is for the ladies who love a good discount!
I only say this because, I only show-up to PLAY on Thursday nights, which is ladies-night. From 11 p.m. till' 12 a.m. free drinks for the ladies, who doesn't love that?! After that, all drinks half-off except for beers, still a pretty good deal.
The music is great, they play a mix of everythang, love the old-school hip-hop. The crowd is cool, the bartenders are attentive at times, that is, if you have a penis. Despite that, I love PLAY. It's close, fun, and a great place to just drink and chill.
The blue long island is my absolutely favorite. three of those bad-boys, and I'm good for the night, I always sneak in a shot before hand of course! All that for under 20 dollars?! FUCK YES.
If you go any other night, they have specials, like 5 dollar mojitos, not all that great. Henessey here is sky-high expensive so beware. I ordered that once on a Tuesday night, shit cost me 18 fuckin' dollars. NEVER AGAIN. Stick to Thursday nights so that your safe, or get a damn beer.
I came here with my roommates on one of their Thursday ladies nights and we had a pretty good time.
Drinks were free, and the bartenders were really attentive and kept on filling our drinks up, and at some point the manager (I think?) gave us shots of patron. I don't remember much after that, BUT the music was good and there was a lot of stuff going on- pool, bowling, dancing.
It's busier here than other places in queens and it's definitely a lot nicer and huge.
I would definitely come back here with my bitches, especially if they keep giving out free alcohol.
I was here for a Birthday celebration on a Friday night, instead of finding a venue in the city. Â We were too lazy to drive all the way to the city and it was too cold.
But we should've just gone into the city.
We ended up paying the same amount of money for drinks and etc, but this place was empty and pretentious. Â It wants to be a club/lounge in the city, but it fails. Â Once our large party of 20+ rolled in this is what happened.
There was no problem getting in, the bouncers were nice (well as nice as they can come), but once we got in they forced us to all check our coats at $3 a piece. Â Then we thought it'd be cheaper to get table service, but it came out to be the same as getting some drinks from the bar. Â Once we got the table, the music was turned up way too loud. Â To the point where we were yelling at each other. Â
We split and some people started playing ping pong, others at the bar, and some at the table. Â We even started ordering chicken wings to snack on. Â No one dared play bowling, it was so pricey! Â
Sure it's a big space but it was pratically empty before we rolled in. Â They didn't have to turn up the music so loud, there was no one there.
I had a good time but it was a little bit on the "meh" side. I had fun b/c of the ppl I was with.
Paid $40 for a special deal that was kinda wack since there was no alcohol included... for that price I want a fucking drink. The bartenders were stupid, they didn't know how to make a gin martini. Really? You can't make a gin martini? That should be the first drink you learn how to make. It's a freaking martini. Jerk face.
There are only 4 bowling lanes. The air hockey is a little old so the gliders don't glide all that well. There are several pool tables and a dance floor.
But yeah, it's like Chucky Cheese for adults. And yes there were some hood rats there... yeah I said it!
When this first opened my friends and I went here religiously because what wasn't there to like about it? Shoot Pool, Bowl, Drink and Smoke. Ahhhhh it was the life. Then Thursdays was Ladies Night, drinks were free for the ladies so you know we were there every Thursday!
I gave it a three because well back then it was a mature crowd, go in there these days and it's filled with a bunch of immature youngins. Â Eh I guess my friends and I grew up and moved on to bigger and better things.
