While there is a Potbelly location across the street from my job, I rather take a longer path to this location.  The line is long but it moves quickly.  The attendant taking orders with the IPad makes the order taking process move as fast as a click of a mouse.  The staff is by the friendliest staff at any Potbelly location.  If you love Potbelly go to this location!

Moderately priced, never a messed up order, I order from take out once a week and they're always very nice here.  Dream bars are to die for.

Never order delivery from this location! I ordered over 2 hours ago and still have not gotten my food. They called me about an hour ago to say that they were running behind and that the food would be here in 15 minutes, that was an hour ago. I called the store to check on my order and it rang for 5 minutes before anyone picked up. TERRIBLE service. Never ordering from here again

Small sandwiches and it seems the place is always a ghost town.

Service here was great, very friendly and the sandwiches were awesome, I recommend trying the chicken salad sandwich and the pizza sandwich. Make sure you try the chili-peppers, very delicious. Would recommend this place over subway and quiznos any day.

Always super-nice staff here. My orders are always correct. I've never had to wait in line either, maybe because I avoid the rush. the music isn't too loud either.

My only complaint- and this is with all Potbelly restaurants-is that the counter is too high. I'm only 5 feet tall, I stand on my tippies so they can see my whole face! (:

I really like Potbelly...great sandwiches at a fair price. Shakes are good and so are the soups. The reason for the one star is because of the delivery system. The past 3 orders I've made online have resulted in phone calls saying they either aren't delivering at that time or "we're really swamped and we only have one guy on a bike....would you rather cancel or come pick it up?" No...I would not rather cancel and I would not rather pick it up. I ordered delivery for a reason...so it would be delivered. How hard is it to figure out that you might have a lot of deliveries on a Sunday night and need 2 guys with bikes? Or...get one guy with a car...or two guys with ponies....or one guy with roller blades and one guy with a pony....or one small guy with a big dog that he can ride behind in a wagon and bring me my 2 sandwiches and 2 bags of chips for $20. FIGURE IT OUT....ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!! This company has 20 layers of management encompassing the country and they can't get delivery right? Jimmy Johns shows up at my door in 20 minutes and they've never cried once. Potbelly...my recommendation is that you get your act together or you are going to get swallowed by the competition...spend less money on the kitschy crap hanging all over your walls or the hundreds of those watermelon pictures you have framed in all the mens restrooms and spend more money on logistics. What a joke.

What is up with the milkshakes these days?  The last two I got were runny and bland.  They were both so disappointing I threw them away after only a few sips.  This is definitely not the Potbelly's milkshake I grew to love years ago, the milkshake that was so thick you could barely drink it through a straw.  It's not just this location, either.  State/Lake is the same way.

Oh!  And it's not just the milkshakes, either.  The salads used to be made with all romaine lettuce and now they're a mix of iceberg (yuck) and romaine.  Seriously, Potbelly's??  I'd rather pay a little extra for quality than pay the same prices for mediocre.  Time to step it up.

Their Wreck Salad consists of iceberg lettuce, deli meat and cheese.

    Hmmm. No thanks.

The delivery guy also took more than an hour to get to our office.

I am a huge fan of Potbelly and this is just like any average one. There isn't a lot of seating in here. I would say the capacity is about 30, tops.

The one thing I did not like about it was no Wifi connection was available.

The food is as good as ever!

Eating Potbelly's is like going home. In fact, if they had televisions that played Law and Order: SVU I would be very tempted to make this place home.

Because, seriously, what more do you need than a wreck, salt and vinegar chips, and one of their delicious (diet) cream sodas. food orgasm in my mouth. I suggest starting with a few bites of the wreck, then move to a swig of cream soda, and top it off with a chip or two. Enjoy and repeat.

If you want to treat yourself, get one of their big soft cookies. And if you *really* want to treat yourself, get one of their luscious ice cream sandwiches made aforementioned cookies.

I recently went in to grab a quick lunch. It turned out not to be so quick after all. The line was very long and it seemed to take a long time to get your order ready. I ordered a meat ball sandwich and a cup of tomato soup. The sandwich was very tasty and big but the soup was straight from the can. All in all the place seems nice in a very hip neighborhood.

So, I'm not a huge fan - not going to lie.  There's something about the meat that is slightly slimy and I just can't get past it.  I even tried to fall love with the veggie sandwich, but the mushrooms aren't cooked and they taste like plastic.  And, could you add olives to your list of offerings, please?  I am willing, however, to get over all of this to enjoy their shakes, chocolate chip cookies and dream bars.  I find my addiction truly annoying, because I don't really like the sandwiches.  So, I get my sandwich elsewhere and then go get as many cookies and other treats as I can handle.  It's like going to Burger King for a cheeseburger and then McDonald's for fries.

Being a person who eats at Potbelly's about three times a week, and generally a solitary luncher (we introverts need our reflection time, especially those of us who spend half our days in meetings), I have had time to reflect on Potbelly's as indicative of the growing synthesis between fast food restaurants like McDonald's and corporate chain restaurants like Applebee's.

Starbucks is an example of this: You see the identical quality in identical food and beverage items at every Starbucks, which is an idea from fast food; you also have a small degree of personalization, like maybe they leave it up to individual store employees to write something on a chalkboard every day, or they put up a vintage picture of something related to the neighborhood you're in. You know you're not in a small neighborhood coffee shop, but they keep you from feeling like you're in a faceless, sterile corporate chain. It's like if you could eat at McDonald's but feel like you're in Chili's.

Potbelly's does the handwriting thing, the funky decorations thing, they (until recently) eschewed the fast food-style soda fountain for a refrigerator full of quirky beverages like Jones Soda and Izzee, and they made the brilliant move of letting an endless stream of solo acoustic musicians come in and cover songs from what I suspect is a pre-approved corporate setlist. (You always hear, like, Heart of Gold. I bet they don't allow original material, because they want to keep a certain degree of homogeneity.)

This business model is the future! It may not drive Applebee's or McDonald's to extinction, but you can bet that it will force them to switch up their game; McDonald's had to pay more attention to coffee in the wake of the Starbucks revolution, and I bet they'll start personalizing their stores a little and offering some quirkier selections in response to the astonishing success of Potbelly's.

Anyway, I like the turkey sandwich with hot peppers.

I heard about this sandwich chain from a friend but also learned that it originated in Chicago, so I don't feel so bad about going to a "chain."  Afterall, if I'mgoing to where it originated, am I still going to a chain?  Ok, enough with the cracking myself up, and on to the review...

The sandwich was good, nice, warm, and toasty with fresh ingredients.  Lots of choices to choose from, so I'll be back!

I've been to this location a couple times and thought the staff was pretty friendly.  I don't go to Potbelly's often, but when I do, my sandwiches are always consistent and good.  My only gripe is that the sandwiches are kinda small.  What can I say?  I love to eat!  They have good milkshakes, and I love the tiny butter cookie they put on the straw.  Not bad for a chain!

I feel like I am cheating on the original Potbelly which I have been going to since my college days at DePaul (and when I was a bar-dancing cocktail waitress across the street) but I am now spending countless hours in Bucktown and when I need a sandwich I go to the firehouse Potbelly.  They are so nice there, the manager knows my name and usually what I order.  One time they made a little mistake and I called because I thought they actually sent me someone else's order and wanted to make sure it went to its rightful orderer....nope it was a mistake and they offered to send a new one STAT.  Not only that, the next time I ordered, they comped my entire order and wrote a little note on the sandwich bags that said "we're sorry about the last time!".  How nice is that.

But, the reality of it is they offer a hell of a good sandwich at a fair price and I love the toasted yumminess of these sandwiches which is often imitated, never duplicated.  Homemade shakes, yes please.  They treat their employees well and they are a warm and cozy place to have a sammie and some soup.  Love the loaded potato soup and their crackers are always fresh....and I love Orangina and they always have it in stock.  Its one of the few local places that I'm happy to see succeed as a franchise.  I only wish I had bought the stock at the IPO.

Also they lie about delivery time and always say its 45 to an hour but my road warrior/delivery guy is always here in 20 minutes to half an hour tops.  Lies in worst case scenerio way, are a good thing.

what can I say about potbelly that probably hasn't already been said in all their reviewed locations.  The wreck with everything, light mayo (including hot peppers) is about as good a sub you'll ever find.

aside #1:  I have ordered their  Box ' O Sandwiches on numerous occasions for in-services t/o Chicagoland for groups of 10 to 100.  They totally set you up w. everything you need, separate all the toppings into containers and pre-cut and label all subs so people can mix and match.  At less than $ 5 per sandwich you'll be hard pressed to find a cheaper catering place anywhere...and who doesn't like potbelly?

aside #2:  I came across a "drive-thru" a few weeks ago whilst up in the far N. Suburbs...i was shocked but pleasantly surprised.  They are expanding like wildfire but cannot for the life of me find a discernible difference in quality/consistency from one store to the next; I hope they can manage to keep it that way!
