When I want a lighter lunch, but I'm not obsessing over calories, I head to Potbelly's. Â Their regular sandwiches seem slightly smaller than those at Jersey Mike's and other sub shops. Â And the price is right. Â For $4.50, I can get a regular size sandwich that is filling, not greasy, and extra toppings at no added charge. Â The "big" claims to be 30% more and is only $1 more. Â But even when I'm a hungry monster, I don't upsize here.
My usual MO at Potbelly's is to grab a roast beef and provolone on wheat, a Pellegrino, and scram. Â But today I wanted a little kick, so I got the roast beef with mustard, hot peppers and tomato. Â My sandwich choices aren't so plain Jane anymore! Â I really like that they use brown mustard instead of yellow. Â The hot peppers are indeed, hot. Â The bread is a little crusty on the outside, but it isn't hard or offputting. Â I really like Potbelly's sandwiches.
The service is good. Â Friendly (or at least appearing content) employees and accurate ordering are all I ask for in a quick stop like this one.
I've always encountered a line here, and it gets worse at noon. Â The parking lot can get congested during the lunch hour, but it was easier to get in and out of here around 11:30 than 12:30, so go early or go elsewhere.
On a night not too long ago, I landed at O'Hare and had a picture of my new nephew waiting for me via text. Â I replied "I'm on my way to the hospital" and the next text that I sent was, "What can I bring you for dinner?". Â My sister just had a baby so the least I can do is bring dinner... but what's on the way to CDH from O'Hare? Â I thought and thought and decided sandwiches would be the easiest solution to feed a handful of people and still not require much in the way of plates or silverware.
I rushed into Potbelly's to grab various sandwiches to take with me to the hospital. Â Personally, I can't visit Potbelly's without a PB&J sandwich, it's odd I know but they just taste better from Potbelly's. Â My mom had the wreck which she truly enjoyed and there were a sampling of various other sandwiches like the Chicken Cheese, and the Italian which made good impressions on all. Â Their cookies are always a hit and both sugar and oatmeal choc. chip were eaten to the point of gluttony. Â The cookies are always baked perfectly with a crisp exterior and a softer center... I'm nearly drooling just thinking about their buttery goodness.
The service was fast and the man helping with my order was very friendly and thorough with my order. Â
I look forward to visiting this Potbelly's again and personally suggest the PB&J. Â Oh and don't forget to get a cookie or 5.
Quick service - I like the little portable order-taker that they have someone taking orders with when the lines are long. Â I also like the TKY - smaller sandwich = good thing. Â I also love the hot peppers - those can make or break a sandwich for me if they aren't right and these are quite right. Â It's a bit loud in there and maybe that is by design but for me, it gets me out of there faster, which is nice because we only get an hour for lunch. Â Thinking of adding this one to the regular lunch rotation.
