I have to disagree with Danielle who says the Towne Tap is not the place to go to if you want atmosphere. Â I guess it depends on what you consider good atmosphere. Â The Towne Tap has the cozy atmosphere of a Wisconsin fishing bar. Â The patrons are friendly and I never noticed that the owner doesn't allow swearing. Â I actually never thought about that but I never saw anyone being told not to swear. Â Then again, I'm not sure I noticed anyone swearing. Â In any case, that's no big deal.
At one time, the Town Tap was filled with 20 and 30-somethings on Friday and Saturday nights and it was almost unbearable. Â The guys tried to be macho and screamed so loud that it could hurt your ears. Â But the last couple times I went there, the young crowd was gone. Apparently, they moved on to whatever place was the new fad for them. Â That was fortunate because the once again has the friendly feel of a classic neighborhood bar where you will soon know everyone by name. Â Al's Pizza is in the same building. They make an outstanding pizza and they will deliver it to the bar for you. Â I rarely go to bars anymore but I keep promising myself to spend and evening at the Town Tap. Â I always enjoyed it when I did go. Â Every time I did go, with the exception of the times when it was packed with loud young people, I was soon talking with the friendly people there as if we were old friends. Â That's about the best thing I can say about a bar.
