Damn good sarnies!!
Eat here for a nice sandwich with plenty of choices for a decent lunch with a classic styled cafe /deli feel. Â Have vegetarian friendly choices too.
In spite of the affordable menu the three locations I have visited actually have all provides a pleasurable dining experience and atmosphere.
The sandwich comes warm...Yum! Â The bread has the perfect light crispy texture to the crust and inside the different sandwiches have had nice overall flavor. Â I always add the hot giardinera it's delicious!
Helpful staff every time and condiments that are fresh.
Great for a quickie lunch that's delicious. :)
I should have known... if there is an airport location then just skip it.
Ordered the Wreck for my train ride from Midway into Downtown. Ate half of it because I was hungry and the rest sat in the bag until it ended up in the trash. Absolutely nothing special about it. I've had better sandwiches from Togos.
How can you go wrong with a sandwich that you select the base product and then the toppings? Their soups and salads are equally good and their pricing is moderate, even in downtown Chicago. I try to arrive prior to 11:45a, just to beat the lunch rush because after that time the line can become very formative. If I miss this time frame I work through lunch and plan to go around 1:30p. One more tidbit; their cookies are too die for!
Review Source:Stopped in for lunch on a blazingly hot day. Â I normally gravitate toward the excellent toasted grinder sandwiches whenever I visit one of the Potbelly Sandwich Shops (it's a mini chain, started in the late 1970's on Lincoln near Belden in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood). Â But it was so blasted hot outside (103 in the shade) all I wanted was a cool salad, a bottle of cold Nantucket Nectars lemonade and a chance to soak up as much air conditioning as I could. Â I opted for the excellent "farmhouse" salad, a variation on a chef's salad, with lettuce, chicken, bacon, crumbled hard cooked egg, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion and crumbled bleu cheese for extra tanginess. Â I chose the "Potbelly vinaigrette"--couldn't tell you exactly how this differs from standard vinaigrette, but it was good.
The line at the counter was long, as it is at any Potbelly's at lunchtime, but it moved quickly. Â The salad was assembled in front of me, and not premade, a nice touch. Â There were enough booths and tables to accomodate the crowd. Â I didn't see the usual Potbelly second floor seating or an area for live musicians, so this outpost may be slightly smaller than the Lincoln Park or Evanston shops I frequent more often.
This is probably one of the best potbelly's...ever
Their sandwiches are always pretty good and I usually get the roast beef. It's a decent sandwich for about 6 bucks. They always have really fresh brownie cookies her too. You could be at this place for hours and they won't kick you out. One time me an my friends had no money except for a dream bar and the owner worker guy gave us all free strawberry milkshakes....it was awesome.
The sandwiches here are pretty awesome. The selection isn't amazing, but unless you are super picky you will find something you like. I hear the shakes are real good, sadly, everytime I go they are finished with shakes. Which is weird, but whatever.
It is just a good and quick place to eat. Oh and definitely toast your sandwich. Thats what makes it good.
When I walked in I sort of thought maybe there was a mistake. But everyone is so nice, the sammies are great and the zapp's chips are amazing. They even sell Oragina. Everything for around 7 dollars. It was really good! And the staff is happy and fun. Good find in an area that seems lacking on lunch places.
Review Source:This is the first time I write a review.
Because of my work I have to travel most of the time so I get to know a lot of different places. This is probably the best Sandwich place I've ever been. The salad with non-fat dressing was unbelievable good. The  sandwich is, in one word, AMAZING. Not to talk about the staff: funny, kind...
I'll be back soon, let's say... Tomorrow
I love cozy sandwich shops. I love Printer's Row. I love Nantucket Nectars. I'm a history buff who likes old print material, and I usually take the train into the city. This Potbelly location is like a vortex of stuff that makes me happy. I can get off at the LaSalle blue line, walk over here, grab a meal, and continue on foot to another destination. The staff is friendly, they have live music on occasion, and yes, this location is one that has breakfast! Not all Potbelly stores serve it or are even open that early. This probably explains why this one always has plenty of OJ in the beverage case.
One thing I would like to see different here: cleaner tables. The staff are not as on top of wiping down after customers leave as they should be. On two occasions I have set my book down in a puddle of soup that I didn't see because its color matched the table. Still, it's no worse than at some of the other nearby Potbelly locations, which also tend to be busier and therefore messier. (I'm looking at you, State and Lake Potbelly, with your mayo-coated napkin dispensers and Art Institute Potbelly, with your lettuce explosion chairs.) It's also not as bad as Subway, where I sometimes suspect the tables get cleaned twice a day--once at opening, and again at closing.
Bottom line: this is an improvement over many other fast food options in the area. It beats most competitors, too. Get your sandwich here and tell Wabash Subway to eat your dust.
I'm a big fan of Potbelly's. That magic sandwich of melty goodness is enough to make my day!
This location is quick with a lunch crowd, even the time I was stuck behind Mr. "I have a super specific order and you messed it up slightly so remake it." Sheesh, pack your own lunch dude.
There are usually quite a few college kids in here, but in general the atmosphere is pretty quiet. Love that little bit of calmness on a lunch break :)
I love Potbelly's! While at the Lit-Fest on Printer's Row, I opted to visit this place to get a light sandwich. While I would have preferred a wrap, those are a bit hard to find in Chicago. But the skinny tuna sandwich I got was out of this world! In fact, it was the best tuna salad sandwich that I have ever eaten! The bread was lightly toasted and the tuna and fixin's were just divine. You really can't beat their prices, the atmosphere is great, the restaurant design is really cool and the staff is great! Yeah!!
Review Source:Everyone that eats at Potbelly's from out of town says.. "I'm going to steal this idea and open a place like this." ... I hate to break it to you but it's an improved and cheaper version of Quiznos.. Those aren't working out too well.
Do it right and get yourself "The Wreck" with everything on it. Â It's delicious. Â They also have really good soups and cookies.
At this location the staff is always cool and it's not as busy as other locations (think state and lake).
Cheaper than Pockets and SRO in the neighborhood and defiantly better than subway. Living in NYC I miss grabbing the occasional sandwich from here!
I will keep this review as simple as I can. Â I know I can get kinda wordy with these things. Â
This is the first time I've ever been in a low-pro sandwich joint and after I was done I went up to the cashier and said, "Wow, that was a delicious sandwich!"
To bad they aren't out in Southern, CA.
My husband and I visited Chicago just last week and I must say I wish I had one back at home. I purchase the sandwich "A Wreck' with the works. Including their prized pickled peppers and olives. Much in the style of Quizno's where the heat the sandwich on a conveyor belt, but the bread and meats are way better. Very good price. Makes eating out affordable without having to subject yourself to McDonalds or Taco Bell (which I refuse to eat at for numerous reasons).
Review Source:It's been a few years since I've eaten here, but Potbelly is a must whenever I'm in Chicago.
Love the bread, huge fan of their brown mustard (best mustard ever!), everything is fresh and the amount of filling/toppings is just right! Â Once I was fortunate enough to receive a complimentary container of their mustard to take home to Miami. Â I actually asked if I could purchase their mustard and the girl on the counter just gave it to me as a gift. Â I thought this was an awesome gesture! Â I treasure that mustard for special sandwiches only. Â Even if I don't come anywhere close to replicating a potbelly sandwich.
If i happen to see a bright, shiny star, my wish is that Potbelly comes to South Florida. Â
In all honesty, this is the only "sub-type" sandwich I actually like (love).
Sheila's Dream Bars are just what the name implies.
Now I'm craving a turkey-swiss sandwich....and I won't be going near Chicago any time soon!!! Boo hoo!!!
Awesome sandwiches! Â
For under 5$ you get a good size sandwich, and DANG is it tasty. Â I had the Italian, the hubby had the Wreck and they were both wonderful. Â The bread is not too overwhelming, I hate having to fight a piece of bread to get to the good stuff. Â The veggies, sauce and meat are all high quality and in good portions. Â The loaded baked potato soup was about $4 for a large portion and it was super creamy and delicious. Â
The staff was nice, service was quick. Â Potbelly tops any subway, Quiznos or Togo's I have ever been to. Â I would say besides a real deli sandwich, this is the best you can get.
Sometimes you take people that you love for granted. Â I realized that you can take food that you love for granted as well, when I thought about how some of my favorite fast food (as in "fast food" outside the realm of McDonald's and Co.) places were neglected in my reviews. Â I thought I should begin with Potbelly, since they have my all time favorite vegetarian sandwich, and I should review the place on Printer's Row, since I worked there for a whole year and miraculously bear no ill will.
Well, all I have to say is this: Â I LOVE YOU, veggie sandwich on wheat (as in "wheat") with extra pickles and giardanera. Â I just love you.
I love potbellys as far as generic sandwich places goes. Â It's better than Subway, Goodcents, and even Quiznos, but they're ok too. Â Sometimes the sandwiches are definitely better on somedays than on others, but that's normal. Â It gets five stars because one time I came here with a bag from H&M and since I have to bring new meaning to the word scatterbrained everyday, I left my bag there. Â Three weeks later the girl making my sandwich asks if I was here with an H&M bag and I leave with everything I bought three weeks ago. Â The service here is ridiculously nice.
Review Source:This place is my usual hot spot for lunch. Â The staff is great because they are pretty good at remembering my usual Italian salad. ohhh delicious! Â But every now and again I'll get A Wreck sandwich made skinny. Â This place loses a star because the cashier always rings up a regular Wreck sandwich instead of the skinny Wreck sandwich. Â So basically, I am paying more for less bread and less meat. Its already happened to me twice. No more! Â But overall, a great place to stop in for lunch. Especially since its right around the corner from me.
Review Source:I love sandwiches. Actually, most of my reviews on here are probably for sandwich places.
Anyway, Potbelly has great subs, and they're really cheap. I like the chicken salad with lots of mustard. Yummm. And with a can of Mr. Pibb, the total's only about $5.78 (approximately. ha.). Yeah, I'm a regular here.
As for the atmosphere, well, it's Potbelly. They all look pretty much the same. It's good though. And I like when there are people singing up on the little stage thingy. It makes me happy.
It was 2pm ish and I hadn't eaten all day. It was right next door so I thought I'd check it out.
Way cool. for under $7 I got a can of diet coke and on a wheat roll a ham & swiss plus bacon + mushrooms (an extra fiddy cent each) then topped with mustard, hot peppers, diced onions and tomatoes. Simple but awesome. The sandwich artists were very polite, the second one was even like "oh damn dude, that smells good even" and the cashier even after I paid offered and extra bag to hold the sammie and can of coke (I had a backpack on and was gonna hop a cab).
A nice solid place for quick and very delicious sammies. I'm a fan :-)
Oh, Potbelly's, how I miss thee! The most delicious fast food sandwich shop- without the feel of fast food. I usually watch my calories, but here it's all about the mayo, melted cheese (that's right, their veggie sub has 8 slices), and drizzled olive oil. Â And it doesn't stop there- their fresh chocolate chip oatmeal cookies are perfect.
I guess it's a good thing they're not here in NY- I'd probably have a HUGE ol' potbelly if I didn't have to resort to eating moldy Subway sandwiches for lunch!
